I win like 90% of my online games, almost all of my losses are from getting bombed to hell and back at the start on simple tracks where its hard to catch any decent people by simply drifting better once they get ahead

If it's a short map with boxes right at the start (Crash Cove, the CNK Jungle map is horrendous for this) then pulling ahead into first is usually not a smart idea from my experience at least. Especially on that fucking jungle map, I'll pull into first, get a crate and get maybe a beaker or a tnt then get dicked HARD by everyone behind who managed to get a ball or missile or shield and then be stuck in the hell that is 4-6th place.

On larger maps the comeback potential is easier especially if there is USF.

How do you guys consistently take the Sewer Speedway shortcut? I've been in time trials for the last hour practicing, and I can only get it like 20% of the time.

Nitro gauge has me concerned though. I finished almost everything and I'm barely gold with the 50% Bonus. and It's not even the half of the total Nitro expected. I can't see daily and weekly closing that gap.

Yeah the clock and blue orb thing are meant to kind of level the playing field between the guys in front and the rest of the pack but in reality all it does is widen the gap even further

It's not consistent. Beenox still needs to fix that god damn shit, but what I think works sometimes is having your kart be perpendicular to the curved wall you jump from.
Otherwise, it's strict timing.

It's literally the opposite. If you're in the pack behind the guy in first, you're likely to get hit by missiles, bombs, tnt/nitro/potions dropped on the shortcuts, those same items released right in front of you, shields, as well as the orb which is meant to counter first place.
First place is ridiculously safe. You can easily go entire laps without getting hit by items. That's why they need to remove first place's access to shields and masks - they are already nigh untouchable and can just do a time trial for 2.5 laps while dodging the occasional potion.

I got like 250+ ranked points, while rank 1 is sitting at about 2500 ish. And i still manage to be the top 5.

Note that switch is filled with kids and basedboys, so it's really easy to get top ranking

If a character is well designed or charismatic like most ND characters people will play as them and if they are extreme weirdos like the Norms or N Trance people will also play them. The problem only arrives when a character is too generic, which is why you never see people play Krunk.

If the game crashes while auto saving (which can happen in any mode, even offline), you save data becomes corrupted. New patch didnt fix it, it only fixed a common Time Trials crash.

Here's how I did it. Wait for the race to start properly. Go to your settings and press "go offline" then quickly go back online. Crash Team Racing won't boot you out of the match since it's already started. Stop when coming to the end of lap 2. Let everyone pass you. Start lap 3 from 8th place and win. This worked for me.
