What's the best steal you got? For me it would be Majora's Mask cart for $3 at goodwill.

got an xbox one and ps4 for free after my cousin died of a heroin overdose
Lucky, I wish I had we'll off relatives with drug addictions.
>goodwill
I once gave my entire PS2 collection away to them, including a Collector's Edition copy of FFXII. I kinda hoped some poor black kid in the ghetto would get it and fall in love with JRPGs.
Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance with manual at a Gamestop for $25.
Got like $65 trade-in or something ridiculous from gaystop for DBGT: Final Bout on PS1. Me and my buddy both traded in a copy together (because the game was shite) and bought a dreamcast and code veronica.
>goodwill.
There are no good game finds anymore. The internet & cellphones ruined that around 2010.
Several N64 games for 5$ a piece when Game Crazy stopped carrying them, including OoT, Mario 64, and a couple others
I found one of the Guilty Gear games in a bargain bin once.
I got DK64, Majoras mask and Dr. Mario 64 all for $9 back in 2011. But yeah, since around 2013, they started getting cocky with prices
Got a Dreamcast for $10 at a flea market in like, 2002. Several games, extra controller and 1 mem card.
Oh, and Eternal Darkness for $5 via some EBGames coupon.
MGS4 in a Gamestop bin for 1 dollar.
I thought it was really fun.
$30 N64 with cables and 2 controllers. Still had the sticker where the expansion pak goes.
Conker's bad fur day for a tenner back when it actually came out.
that's because there's a site called shopgoodwill.com where they sell all their shit. They're not a non profit like the salvation army are.
Literally stole a bunch of retro titles from my society in uni including Yoshi's Island, Mario 64 and more. No one even remembers they were there. It was a few years ago and no one claimed them, so they are mine now.
Also, MGS1 for 5€ from my town's videoclub
Friend of mine got Suikoden II at a pawnshop for 10 bucks.
Rune Factory 2 for like $5. And it came with the preorder bonus.
After how shitty Rune Factory 1 was, I was gonna pass on it, but holy shit, that price.
2008 black friday was the BEST time for vidya.
A month and a half ago I went to a thrift store and they were selling a gba for 5 bucks. It came with a game a link cable and the cable for GameCube. I also found a 3ds Nintendogs game. I took them to my family owned vidya store and they gave me 60 bucks for them in credit. I bought a GameCube with it still in its box. Not brand new but I still like the boxes for some reason.
Also I have a halo edition Xbox 360 which is 250gb. I want to sell it on Craigslist eBay it OfferUp. What is a fair price to ask for? I listed it for 10 hoping it would fall in the hands of someone going through money troubles who wants to play cheap vidya but I just kept getting offers by scalpers who will just be greedy fucks and overprice it and sell it again.
>What is a fair price to ask for
check completed eBay listings, as in what things actually SOLD for.
Complete boxed CV Dracula X for $60, also paying only $250 for PDS is starting to look nice.
I got Conker's bad fur day for a few bucks.
Got skies of arcadia legends at blockbuster for 5 bucks. Complete in box and in good conditions.
>look up conker's bad fur day
>all these sold listings for $20
>turns out 90% of them are fake
>Need the money, but if I ever want to get the game again down the road it would be damn near impossible to find a non bootleg one
Fuck China for ruining this hobby. It didn't bring down prices at all, it just made it way way harder to tell if a game is real or not. I can't even by a GBA or DS pokemon game without it being fake 95% of the time.
It’s nice though for killing the scalpers
No? The game still sells for $80-$100, the bootlegs did not affect the price. If anything it made it go higher since it's harder to find a real copy now.
sly cooper after my cousin was getting rid of his ps2
Mint SNES at goodwill for $10 about a decade ago
Also found a good 16 classic games for it at another goodwill for $20 total a bit later
also boxed copy of Conker's Bad Fur Day for $5 at salvation army
Dracula X copies can be hard for like $20. Mine thankfully is real since I bought it at an old retro game shop.
If you just want to play the game, get Rare Replay or an N64 flashcart. If you want tto own the original, you have to bite the bullet.
>$3 at goodwill
my nig...
you can find some gems at goodwill if you hunt around.
>be me
>walk into GW, fined $4 ps1 SCPH-1002, near mint, no scuffs or yellowing
>$3 gamecube games, get animal crossing with memory card intact with items still on card, mint
>more $3 games including mario strikers, ssbm, and double dash with 2nd disc (demo disc with demos, videos, and DLC downloads for a few gc games and DLC for fire emblem on gba)
man... thjat was the prince up until lik 2009 when everyone started becoming obsessed with nintendo games and scalping
Thank god people don't care about VHS tapes, otherwise I wouldn't be able to have a cheap hobby. All my retro games are on flash carts. If VHS was in the same place price wise as retro games I'd take up knitting or something. It's just so expensive to own any decent physical media anymore.
What are you guys into? I collect old game magazines too since they're still fairly cheap.
I just buy what I can find locally in terms of game stuff.
I got a Contra Hard Corps and Castlevania: Bloodlines for $1 a piece, and Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue (both CIB) for somewhere between $10 and $20 a piece.
I'd love to find gaming magazines, but I only own the Nintendo Power issue that revealed the GBA.
Uh, I got Link's Awakening (original, not DX) for $13 at a used media store. Thought that was a pretty good deal.
Also my friend gave me his old gamecube when his old house got sold. I might get some more of his games soon because he committed suicide and his mom is giving away some of his old possessions.
Gamecube, a memory card and Mario sunshine for 15€ at a flea market. Young me was really happy that day
Damn. That was a twist
It wasn't in the best condition box wise because the manual had water damage but I got a playable copy of Digimon World 1 a few years back for 2 bucks.
Sorry for blogposting, it just feels cathartic to be able to talk about it sometimes
There is nothing wrong with reproductions in my opinion. Just contact the seller to get all of the information you need, like proof of it working.
Got a Pokemon Crystal off a box of toys a woman sold for $10 at a garage sale when I was a kid.
No criticism, man
A Genesis model 2 at a SoCal swapmeet for only 5 bucks.
It came with 2 controllers and no cables. He said it was broken, and he slashed the price for me.
I took it home and opened it up and cleaned it out. No joke, there was a 20 year old blue jolly rancher stuck to the motherboard, melted. After about an hour of cleaning it out, it was working good as new. I picked up cables and a copy of sonic 1 at the same swapmeet for 3 bucks, used, in it's original bundled in packaging.
There's no way for a jolly rancher to be lodged into the Genesis model 2, given how it's put together. There were no signs of temperament with the expansion port either. As far as I'm concerned, someone teleported that shit into it somehow.
I got a used copy of The Saboteur for PS3 for 6 dollars, i didn't get the free DLC with it of course, but fuck, was it worth it, one of the best games i ever played
Lucky
Playing this on N64 w/rumble pack and progressive scan is the best experience.
I have the gamecube version which has the rumble but there's a 20% chance that it will freeze/soft lock and when it happens it's a massive buzzkill.
