its a kart racer. what did you expect?

I will say though that its absolute bullshit how many bombs, beakers, tnt crates, and barriers you get at 5th place and up. These items are pretty much useless unless you're in 1st through 4th.

You know how characters have a different animation when they get big air, then get a boost when they land? That's it. Just do a race or two with Polar, hop off some ramps, and you're sure to get it.

i dont even mind warp orbs/clocks that much if im stomping the game alone but those things often decide the game if there are 2 players neck-to-neck far ahead of everyone else

Left everything as default except I turned every item off except the shield and set them to easy
Then I just hit 2 wumpa boxes and sat by a wall with the item boxes going in a straight line firing bubble after bubble until I got like 5 points
After that I sat there and repeated until I completed the challenge

It's not a problem in any other mode. Online online where everyone plays way more agressively.

Pretty much. They are clearly not made to be used as much as they are.

I don't like how people tell others to just "have fun" either. Everyone plays online to have exciting races. They all want that adrenaline of being neck and neck with a player or two but that just doesn't happen. Do you think I have a smile on my face when I USF a whole lap and half the lobby disconnects? Should they stay and "have fun" and be thankful to watch me do a time trial? Should I be having fun when I get clocked over big jumps while the person 30 seconds ahead is safe on solid ground and gets even more ahead?

With some reading comprehension skills, its been hinted that the 5% reward will always be that championship kart + signature decal. So its pretty easy to assume that you will have 6+ tries at the kart all with season unique decals. The current one being egyption cortex and etc.

What? Is the same kart gonna be rewarded for every single GP? I understand giving everyone a chance at owning it but that's lame.

I have a possibly retarded idea for a new mode that's online, since I'm pretty sure they won't fix the item balancing.
What if they just drastically decrease the number of boxes in a "pro" mode or something like that? Make it so for every row of boxes, there's only one box somewhere randomly on that point in the track. If a track has like 25 boxes total, bring that down to maybe 7. Make it so the boxes change positions every race, so it keeps you on your toes, and make them take way longer to respawn.

challenges aren't working either. certain ones anyway. also sometimes when the race ends and it shows the top 3 their models are all glitched out and their faces are stretched and clipped through the podiums

I'm Switch and have never had any broken challenges, I got trick jumps and untouchable, sometimes it won't say in the results I got the challenge but manually checking grand prix in the menu confirms I got it

So whenever you play your first (second?) online match after the Pit Stop resets, you get a 5x coin multiplayer for the first 30 (?) minutes that you play online, right? And that's what's called "Wumpa Time"? If that's a 5 times multiplier, what's the 10 times multiplier? Is that just the same thing but on the weekend instead of weekdays?
More to the point, you don't -have- to "start" Wumpa Time immediately after the Pit Stop resets, right? Because that's fucking midnight for anyone in Europe.

I have no clue if it's based on time, but it seems to last longer than 30 minutes. It also isn't affected if you play offline in between.

Yes to everything in your post. You can start wumpa time an hour before the pit stop resets and restart it right after.

It's referring to the starting boost. You know how the starting boost seems to max out at a certain level that doesn't fill the whole bar? If you press Go multiple times in a row, before the bar drains, the max will go higher, and eventually fill up the whole bar. Getting the start boost with a full bar is a Perfect Boost.

Quickly press Go twice a little after 2, then hold it after 3 to get the best boost. It's a little tricky, but you can get it with practice.

If you throw the shield, it should work. Is that not true anymore?

You gotta rev your engine three times consecutively without letting the meter go to zero. The third rev will completely fill the meter and will give you a max boost if time correctly with the green light.

They're points you get for the championship leaderboard. You get 12 for first place and 2 less for each place under that. If you get in the top 5% of the leadboard you get THAT kart.

Others seem to disagree, but I firmly believe NST / Nitro Fueled Crash is the best Crash we've gotten since the original OG trilogy. He's just so fucking fun to look at and watch, he's the perfect blend between a dipshit and an idiot savant. Such a lovable goofball.

Nitro Points aren't being rewarded correctly. I think the bonuses from grand prix cosmetics isn't working right or simething.
It'll tell me I have a certain amount when I finish a race but when I check from the menu I have less than what it said at the end of the race.
Said I had a total of 12,085 at the end of the last race I did but when I look at it from the main menu it says 11,935 points.

I've noticed this a few other times too.

On Xbox I've had zero issues since they released the patch a week or so ago.
The game is fantastic, don't be put off by the coin system as it's all cosmetics that don't matter anyway.
The adventure mode and time trials are worth the asking price alone, in addition to all the bonus nitro kart content and the fact you can play online.

Haven't tested it yet but I saw someone saying to go to the system menu for a bit at the start of the race to interrupt your connection to the game briefly

I still haven't done the "beat a friend on Twilight" tour one. Some user luckily helped me with the "play online with a friend".

Crash Team Racing's actual racing mechanics are infinitely better than those games. Gameplay-wise this game is absolutely fucking phenomenal. Give you a true sense of speed that I really think only F-Zero has been able to do. If all you care about is gameplay, it's a 10/10.
However, I personally think a lot of the charm of CTR is lost on those who aren't already familiar with it. The joys of playing cool characters like Pinstripe, Dingodile, and N. Tropy is that they were bosses with really cool personalities in the original trilogy and now they're playable, at your fingertips. The characters of CTR aren't as interesting when they're just "characters".
I recommend playing NST, personally, if you want to get the most out of CTR, but if all you really care about is the gameplay, then just buy this. Excellent gameplay.

Gnasty Gnork is maybe more iconic, not as iconic as Ripto, but thats another green goblin/orc/thingy character. I expected Spyro, Hunter, Ripto and either Elora/Bianca + Moneybags/Egg thief for extra. I guess it makes more sense to have the hero + support with all 3 main villains, since thats the same for Crash.

The driving mechanics are a lot more skill-based than Mario Kart, so it's harder to get into if you're not used to it. With enough practice though, the sensation of speed and thrill of not fucking up your boosts is something I've never felt in a kart racer before.

When it first came out last week I could win every online race easy, got bored and just started playing again and now I'm consistently coming 6th-8th, not sure what's going on.
