She actually followed it because Kiryu was in desperate need to keep the orphanage afloat plus she didn't really have any job prospects or seemingly any schooling. That's why Park spoke about keeping the orphanage paid for if Haruka joined her. Keep in mind in 3 she was literally selling fake IDs once Rikiya and Mikio even had a small mention that they were running out of money, and then in 5 or 6 we find out the kids are all taking part-time jobs just to help out Kiryu because that's how much they love him and their family.
That at least makes sense even if you take 2's "I don't want to be an idol if it means going away from Uncle Kaz" thing to heart, and keep in mind the maturity difference between 2's Haruka and 5's would be way different due to different stresses. Haruka never had to be concerned about the other kids or money at 2's point, but in 5's point she has like eight or nine other kids to worry about and Kiryu.

Remember that Jingu didn't start going full megalomaniac until after he and Sera dumped the second body, he was just a normal government agent at that point so it's at least plausible she fell in love with a man who started getting power hungry. When you go to certain areas you can call people over to play with them. For Yuki you need to complete Four Shine if I remember right, for the other girls you need to finish their friendships fully. Karaoke is another one of these options and it changes the song and who sings it.

Amon is technically canon to the story because of a character from 3's main story path that appears in 4's main story path. Because of this you could make the argument all the hostesses and Amon in general are canon due to Kiryu needing to have done all substories helping people for Amon to contact him meaning Kiryu running into the sakuras in 0 are canon at the bare minimum let alone the 30+ women he ends up fading to black outside of love hotels. This also means Michiru violated him for Mack's Perfect Shot.

This is the problem when you stick with characters for far too long and still need to do some kind of stupid twist with them. Kiryu and Haruka should have been ditched at the end of Yakuza 2 or at the end of 4. I'm really hoping that the franchise won't stick with the same cast for as long as it did ever again.

I doubt it will. While we probably see the guys from 4-5 come back in any great capacity, it's likely that the new guy won't be getting a decade of games. Heck, he's already fairly old, so that means they wouldn't be able to push him for too long before he's losing his edge from age, not to mention Japan's bizarre hatred of anyone 50+ in a lot of media.

We're probably going to have the characters from previous games turn to support characters instead once they've finished whoever the MC is. Daigo, Saejima, and Majima are pretty much a guarantee in Shin considering the story and how we're going to be dealing with the high tier Tojo Clan affairs. I'm honestly expecting Tanimura and Date to appear in Judgment 2 as well, they wouldn't pass up having them involved, particularly with how they said we'd probably see Yakuza characters in the game after it showed it can stand on its own.

Keep in mind Haruka never lifts her legs outside of walking around during one part of Hiroshima and the end of the game and the rest of the time she's in a bed, so you never really see down there anyway.

Most I can ever say is that the ragdoll physics can be wonky as hell sometimes, and the animations are sometimes a bit robotic and stiff. Beyond that, while the games do feel like they've never moved too far from the 2005 era mechanics, there's no real need to since having a pseudo-arcadey feel really helps sell the off the wall nature of the franchise.

I've 100% 0, 1, 2 and 6. Haven't played the other ones.

0, 1 and 2 are certainly a bitch. Most things, in my opinion, are worth doing. But there are things like Mahjong where you just might not want to learn it at all. It was probably the thing that I hated the most in all of those, but after playing it so much to get the 100% in Yakuza 0, I ended up learning how to play and I fucking liked the game afterwards. I haven't had any trouble playing Mahjong afterwards.

Eh, Mahjong isn't too bad if you've had some experience with it from the games that usually came installed on computers. But Shogi? That thing certainly requires you to think different from Chess since it has its share of differences that can trip you up if you can't learn them.

1 isn't hard to 100%, you just need to know the chapter 4, 5, and 8 substories you can miss and the five or six coin locker keys that are missable. Everything else is simple, baseball should be the only thing giving you any trouble because the timing is pretty rough in the first game. 2's much worse, I agree, but that's mainly due to all the missable Heat Actions, how easily you can miss Amon by making a wrong decision on a substory, and Pro Slotter. Outside of those there's no problem, and even then Pro Slotter is the only real tough part about it.

The only truly bad 100%s are 6 (Because of Puyo Puyo and the spear fishing grind), Fist of the North Star (Because of the 150 orbs needed for each type plus the Destiny Talisman grind), and the two Black Panther games because of all the multiplayer grinding, the ridiculous slot machine grinding, and the style grinding. I suppose Kenzan would also be up there just for the fact almost everything in the game is missable and going into chapter 11 or 12 permanently locks you out of Gion but if you know about the missables it's not too bad.

Minigames you can spread apart, I like doing the hard ones first and then the easiest ones later but do whatever you want when you feel like it, no one's saying you need to do everything all at the same time, and no one's saying you need to do all the substories or other requirements at the same time either.
Yeah, some requirements are dumb like the gambling requirements for Oicho-Kabu or Cee-Lo tend to be ridiculous, but overall things are over very quickly and without much effort. Everyone makes out these games 100% to be the worst thing in the world when they're mostly keeping you engaged or rewarding you for passive stuff, and even then no one's saying you ever have to do them.

They wanted to erase anything from the old games, that's why they killed every major character from the old games (Kashiwagi, Yayoi Dojima, etc.), except Daigo, Majima, Date and Hanaya.

I'm curious as to what capacity the old characters will have in new dragon. I know the plot is about Tojo v Omi again but I for one hope that if Daigo shows up it is solely to be finally murdered. He has never amounted to anything but incompetent and Kiryu's speil to him in 6 was maybe the most baffling thing I've ever read. I can really only account it to the sunk cost fallacy.

The thing with Daigo is he's got the potential to be a good leader but everything keeps turning up terrible for him.
3 has a worldwide conspiracy land on his doorstep and men from underneath him work to betray him and try to basically destroy the Tojo from inside.
4 is all on him so he doesn't deserve any defense here, he was a desperate moron. Even so he still had to deal with another conspiracy set decades prior basically tying his hands to some degree.
5 is yet another enormous conspiracy, this time led by the Omi which had been put in place decades prior but he actually saw it coming and basically got everyone who betrayed him caught in his net except for the Omi Chairman and Aizawa who basically had yet another trap for him.
6 is just the aftermath of 5 but even here he had two of his closest men willing to instantly betray him once he was out of the picture purely because of jealousy and power.

Outside of 4 he's never really had the chance to properly lead without either losing money or conspiracies coming out from underneath him. It's like blaming a police chief for his underlings setting up a bunch of crimes to raise the crime rate in his city causing him to get fired or forced to step down so someone else could take his place. It's not his fault his own men were conspiring against him. Hell, even when everyone betrays him he still has tons of people at his beck and call who trust him and Kiryu's judgement. 5 is like the only time they've ever let him actually be competent. We really need to see a proper Daigo without the world crapping on him on every front. Even Majima believes in him after everything that happened in 4.

I did too, ultimately. I was really impressed by it.
I really liked Kaito and thought the end credits were such a nice touch.
I missed a lot of things that were gone from Yakuza and mostly found the tailing sequences in particular mind-numbing but the combat had some fun new elements and the story was great.

I'm enjoying how deeply corrupt the government is to be perfectly honest, especially after the intimidation from the end of 6. It's a nice change from just yakuza conspiracies with some police involvement. Both 6 and Judgment basically having these guys act like precise and lethal adjudicators with barely any trace hiding behind multiple contingencies and fall men them has been thrilling because you get to see it all unfold. I don't know how these games would work on a smaller scale though, I suppose you could take down one rogue yakuza family or maybe several, hell, maybe even corrupt cops, but eventually that gets the attention of the bigwigs and you end up in conspiracy land again.
