SFV story mode in general was a complete mess. They barely interacted in V as it was. Then randomly they team up to stop Abel since he got possessed. And they STILL didn’t interact much. Somewhere along the line, the story got changed significantly and it shows

I’m still mad about that whole Ryu getting the power of nothingness off screen. They talked about it in SF3 how he had to truly train and it completely kills the satsu no hadou from him completely. And what we get is a literal punch and no explaination that he learned it or how he trained for it.

Could a spinoff SF game that focused on more story driven elements of the series work? Would that be something any of you might be interested in? Maybe a Streets of Rage play style of Guile and Chun Li trying to bring down Shadaloo. An entirely different game for Ryu and Ken focusing on Akuma and the dark hado.

Maybe release both together but make them episodic. Expand with other stories and interconnected characters. Maybe missions that cross over stories.

The point being, you could explore things like romantic relationships more deeply, build on the threat of the villains, and get to know your favorite characters better in an official capacity. Just all around bring more story to the street fighter franchise.
