So I'm a bit slow on the uptake, but, I just started playing the Mass Effect series with some friends. I need some answers on just how bad I fucked up in Mass Effect 2. Tali, Thane, and Mordin died during the finale because I'm a retard. My friends who are with me while I play suggested I should redo the final mission because I somehow fucked up Mass Effect 3 even more than EA apparently did by letting those crew members die. I think the point of playing the series like this is to go through with your mistakes no matter what, but, they've told me that I will miss out on many major parts of the game at least which sounds upsetting. I'd like your guys opinion though with minimal spoilers hopefully.
TL;DR Should I bother redoing the final mission for hopefully better results or just suck it up and keep going despite how much worse it'll apparently make the next game. General Mass Effect thread too for anyone who cares.
Mass Effect 2 Advice
Nothing of value was lost.
Perfect ending:
Tali/Legion in the vent
Miranda/Garrus as squad leader
Jack/Samara as Biotic
Mordin to escort Chakwas and them
So it doesn't effect Mass Effect 3's story as much as they suggested?
I'll keep this in mind if I redo the finale. Thank you.
All 3 people who died in your game do have big parts in ME3 you probably should just redo it
Just roll with it my dude. You made the choices now you have to deal with the consequences.
Mordin and Thane die regardless in 3, Tali is easily replaced by Raan plotwise.
Mordin can live
That's what they said. I'm just unaware of how big is big. They were placing it as catastrophic levels of gimping the game.
I mean, that's what I was initially going to do. My friends raised a ruckus about it being a terrible thing to do due to who died.
Noted, but, please keep spoilers to a minimum.
Some great and interesting plotlines in 3 died this way so I'd redo.
A choice between Wrex and Mordin though, though one. I always save Wrex.
Pretty big roles in the main story especially Mordin and Tali
>spoilers
Only realized after posting, my bad.
Anyway, your squad will be more like ME1 than ME2's in the third game so expect a lot of cameos and undermined choices.
Oh and make sure you virmired Ashley, else you are in for a treat.
Stick with your results. Your friends don't understand choice-based gameplay if they think there are "wrong" answers.
All three have major roles. Mordin's role gets replaced if he's dead, but it's just more satisfying to have him around, and there's an opportunity to get more War Assets depending on other choices. Thane's role also gets replaced depending on a choice you made in Mass Effect 1 regarding a specific character being alive, but having Thane around leads to more War Assets than not having him.
And in case it wasn't completely obvious, Tali is a squadmember in 3, just like the first two games, and she has a major role to play in one of the main story arcs. You can't get the best ending of that story arc without her, so Tali is by far your biggest loss.
Don't read anything else in this thread, make your decision based on this. It's about the best anyone could do without spoilers.
War assets don't really matter
If you liked those characters, redo the mission. The plot progresses either way in ME3, it just uses new characters in certain roles instead of the ded ones.
Well, they do affect the endings, regardless of what the memes say. Hitting different thresholds of War Assets does actually make things better for the galaxy.
The other shit makes sense but fuck the escort was absolute horse shit. You’d expect that you’d need to send a capable soldier to protect them but doing so absolutely buttfucks you because they don’t get attacked and sending a “strong” team mate means your defensive line which you have no way of knowing you’ll need is weaker.
That seems to be the general consensus so far. I still will think about it a lot before the next time I see them.
It's alright senpai. Ashley is long gone at this point even if I do miss her a bit. I'm pretty heavily invested at this point. I'm extremely worried about how notoriously bad the third game is since I've quite enjoyed the games up to here. It's the first time I've felt shit playing a game in a hot minute.
I agree with this to be honest. They've been very hands off in watching me play. This is the first time they've really voiced their opinion on how bad a choice I made was. This is why I got a third opinion through Yea Forums since I trust you guys to be honest about it.
Thanks for the indepth post. I'll take this into consideration as well. I'm gonna dip out of the thread in a few minutes. I don't wanna get spoiled too much more.
Preemptive thanks to everyone who gave responses if don't post anymore. You guys are great.
Jesus. How could you loose so many people. I remember these choices as braindead easy and highly telegraphed. Are you retarded and/or autistic OP?
Me and your mothet are both seriously disappointed in you.
This. It was way harder to plan in order to have everyone die. I managed to finish with Zaeed and Morinth only.
By the end of ME3, needless to say that only Zaeed made it out alive that day.
The description for Mordin hints that he prefers being in his lab and that's where he goes with the crew. He's STG trained and they cut a path through most Collectors so he makes it there fine.
I think you could kill everyone without DLCs.
Play ME3 and see for yourself. It is inevitable to feel some disappointment I'd say. Then reload the game at the point of no return and install the mods that fix the ending, they're pretty damn good.
Mass Effect 3 isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be, the original ending is just fucking garbage. The extended cut of the ending makes it... not too bad. Not good by any stretch, but... passable. The rest of the game is fine, and the Citadel DLC is the peak of the entire series.
That’s not how it works, literally anyone will keep them alive. But you’re supposed to send “squishy” units like mordon, tali, etc as they give the least amount of “points” towards a successful defensive line.
You need 2 squadmates to survive or else you die too.
I lost Mordin and Grunt on my first run. Grunt because I stupidly made him a squad leader, Mordin because of the "hold the line" part. Grunt was dead and I had sent Zaeed back with the crew so the defenders were gimped.
Do not replay the mission, it's more fun to live with consequences. Try to save them when you are replaying series and then you will see what happens differently.
WHY WASN'T SHE A ROMANCE OPTION?
She was still grieving for kenji. besides how many romances do you want in the game there was enough as is.
ALL OF THEM
I'm doing a replay of the series just now. Is it worth shelling out for the DLC?
I havent played Effects in a while but isnt OP fucked even if he want redo the mission? From what i remember he needs to do all the side missions, with perfect paragon or the other points, so no one dies in the end. Basically: not loyal=ded
But he still can download ME3 save file with his choices
>Is it worth shelling out for the DLC?
All of them are worthless without it.
Restarting the mission doesn't let you pick the infiltrator and the initial team leader
>ME1
Bring Down the Sky is alright, Pinnacle Station is shit
>ME2
Get Kasumi, Zaeed, Shadow Broker, Overlord and Arrival. Firewalker is a waste of time.
>ME3
Get Javik, Leviathan and Citadel. Omega is passable but boring.
>Omega is passable but boring.
Aria's ass makes it all worth it. Even if you don't get to tap it.
>Aria's ass
They show it lot in that dlc?
Kino
mordin plotline is too good to pass on
Not really but since she's your team mate you get a lot of chances to stare at it to your hearts content. And then there's the ladder scene...
The kiss scene is worth it, especially if you play maleshep
She's more into it if you're femShep
Nice she my favorite Asari next samara
Some DLCs are better even than the main game
wtf is the joke here? girls are jealous?
That she doesn't like Miranda. It's pretty obvious.
If you mean story DLC and not op weapon shit then i'd say they are practically mandatory in order to say you played the games. Buy them on sale though.
WHy did she punch people instead of having a sword or omni blade?
She's a thief, not a serial killer. Also leaves less evidence.
People die from her stupid punches though.
Who needs tools then?
This guy fucks
People not distracted by her assets tend to hate her
and that's a joke? great...
you're essentially backtracking through secured territory. Of course you don't need a good fighter for that.
People who are cool.
>Can be a future ninja
>Goes punching armored dudes in the kidneys instead
>Tali, Thane, and Mordin died during the finale because I'm a retard
yes
She does that to huge mechs as well
>“accidentally“ let‘s only Xenos die
Based and goldpilled. But you forgot Garrus, gotta ger rid of all abominations.
>She was still grieving for kenji
Dude she openly lusts for Jacob's cock
>I trust you guys
>tfw I never get anyone killed because of my autism that makes me max and complete everything, including researching all tech and gaining resources
Eat your mistakes. Go through 2 again after if you really want to see the difference.
Yeah but it was anything serious. hell even in her me3 ending she gets back with kenjis ai form She never gets over him.
If you tell Kasumi to destroy the grey box and make her to do it, she fakes breaking it. If you bring her to Shadow Broker, SB calls her out. It never goes anywhere.
>It never goes anywhere.
Should be the motto of the series after ME1.
1-2 don't matter according to 3, so you are fine
even better if you skip 3
