Maybe if you just play it. But when you're trying to reach a specific hi-score mark, and three trucks randomly spawn completely blocking the road it's not fun. And even without the RNG factor, the game timer is super tightly tuned, so if you make a single mistake, you risk running out of time at a later point. Let alone going off track and crashing. Might as well just restart.
You right about one thing though, the game was designed to milk kids for quarters, and it shows.

I won't lie, this was me. Almost bought Kiwami after 0 just to try again. But I have since accepted that it's just not that good a game. Way too overhyped.

It's less "tame" and more just straight up dry humour. It's not a style of humour that's for everyone, but I find it to be the best kind of humour.

I have been mocked in the past for not getting emotional during some of "the great" films and tv shows out there. (I'm a little autistic) But Yakuza and anime can make me emotional because the writing is melodramatic and it's always very clear what I should be feeling. The music helps, but mostly I like that the characters all say clearly how they are feeling and what they are thinking. This helps me understand them and I can feel myself getting emotional from the sad parts.

This really hits the nail on the head for me. I played about 13 hours or so before I finally just stopped forcing myself to play through it. It has a lot of great moments, but the amount of repetitive slog between them is too much.

I honestly like Kiwami more than 0, a lot less boring filler and padding.

Pairing the ridiculous side quests with the overly serious story is what gives the series its charm, wherein it strikes that perfect tonal balance that the series is known for. If you've just been plowing through the main story non-stop, not out of interest for the characters/plot, but to just "get through" the game, then you're doing it wrong. Part of what makes the series stick with people is how they immerse themselves with the weirdness of Kamurocho while feeling like a badass beating up randoms in a red light district.

Both Kiwami games added some stuff that specifically calls back to 0, be it the sidequests or some new elements in the main story. It essentially repackages 1 and 2 as inadvertent sequels to 0.

Yea, I enjoy the games but it’s mainly because the story and sidequests are really well written the games simply have a lot of personality, but I’m not big on the combat either.

Judgement is a brand new PS4 game released in 2019. You won't find a stillshot that makes the game look poorly made.

I'm personally not very big on side missions, I try to crush the main story as fast as I can in most games and Yakuza gating combat moves and shit behind side content handicapped me, especially in Kiwami, I went into the last fight with no dragon style finisher, no dragon drop, spent the entire Jingu fight spamming the disarm move and swapping to Rush to build Heat from evasion.
The games are flawed but I like em

I can't and won't actually. I feel that accepting there are elements of the games that could be improved would mean all the enemies who live inside my head would win and I would lose. I don't really have anything else in life other than Yakuza games and posting on Yea Forums so I put a lot of stock into this. You may think that's kind of pathetic and maybe it is, but that's how it goes.
