Would they turn online off for this game? I don't know how it's handled, but considering support and etc. is all Activision I doubt they'd ever turn online off. World at War still has its master server up and running, 10 years after launch. CTR is P2P right? So it only really needs a master server to handle matchmaking/profiles and nothing else. I don't think they'd turn the server off, I can't imagine it costing a lot to keep it running.

Usually games with online only have a few years at best with the first year drop off alone being enough to usually kill a game. While there are always exceptions I don't think CTR will be one of them simply because of next gen around the corner and everyone will be diverting all resources for that. On the upside though it could result in a port of CTR without any of the coin cancer. who am I kidding it would probably be even worse

Yes. The Pit Stop rewards are permanently added. The Nitro rewards are added to the Pit Stop a month or two later after the event. The only thing you can actually miss is the championship kart.

It’s not the best track in the game but it works pretty well imo. It’s a good start to the original tracks, so I’m keen to see how Beenox does from here. The small excerpt of the track from the second Grand Prix looks better imo.

Run over them while your kart is on its back wheels. So you need a boost item, three perfect consecutive drift boosts or to have just landed after a jump boost to run them over and squish them.

I have been doing it on Crash Cove trying to kill as many birds as possible since so many of them require that stage (stupid, btw) but I can't even beat easy NPCs going that slow. Also been doing it as Polar btw (for that same reason) and I'm assuming speed characters will make it at least a bit easier

Characters in the pitstop shouldn't be in the pitstop at all, put them behind a skillgate and challenge the player to pass the test. It's way more satisfying to unlock n.tropy than it is to unlock n.trance because you worked for it instead of grinded for it.
Also there shouldn't be an "online bonus" to begin with, it should just be a completion bonus that scales with your aptitude. Get good and get rewarded.
The current situation is that the hardest challenges in the game are worth the least amount of wumpa coins. Want to do platinum relics and optimize time trials? Fuck you take 20 wumpa coins, and all of your attempts where you reset because of a bad turn reward you with 0 so have fun spending an hour trying to get a platinum on the harder tracks and getting a piddly 60 coin payout when you could instead go into online mode and literally walk away from the console and get a bigger payout for getting a DNF in a fraction of the time. It's absolutely fucking disgusting.
