Why do people think BoTW is the greatest game ever made? What does BoTW does right that makes it gets all this praise? What do you genuinely like about this game?

OP is obviously a faggot

Not a fair comparison. There were more "best games ever" lists before BotW's release than after, so if anything it's insane that BotW is that high up.

Its comfy, and while I think it didnt reward my exploration as well as I had hoped (yiga hideout and forbidden temple) it still gave me a sense of wonder that an open world game with tons of objective icons across the map wouldn't give

It's funny because I've actually had someone say unironically in real life to me that this was the best game they ever played and that they liked the open world game trend. I couldn't understand where they were coming from either. Anyone who says this really needs to play more games.

The fact that BOTW has only been out for two years & is already 14th on that list proves that it is the 2nd coming of OOT

Rent freeeeeeee

Normalfags and journalists love to explore big worlds with varied locations. It's because normalfags LOVE the /travel/ meme, but in videogames it's even better because they don't actually have to do anything.
Every video game that's been claimed to be the best ever over the past ten years is because it's full of pretty sights, not because it plays or is designed well.

> The Last of Us
> Dark Souls
> Mass Effect 2
> Huge open worlds
Cope

TLoU is pretty sights: the game.
And let's be honest, Dark Souls was memed into popularity, and Mass Effect 2 was dumbed down from the original.

In an era of handholding, this is the first game in a while that truly rewards exploration and just 'having fun'.

To be honest, it makes Ocarina of Time (previously probably considered the best Zelda game.) feel like a corridor game.

It's honestly beautiful from a game development point of view.

It was made by Nintendo

They are just wowed by the open world I think. I dont think you can make an argument about botw being GOAT based on its story, or its combat, hell even the world is pretty bland compared to unforgettable shit like the shadow temple in OoT

It all comes down to "wow the game doesnt hold my hand" for botwfags i guess

It's just too bad they forgot to make it a Zelda game while they were developing it

It's actually really good on hard and without using the towers and using advanced sword techniques

The game is like an 8 at best. These people saying it rewarded you for exploring are smoking crack. What'd it give you besides pointless rupees, Korok seeds that stop meaning anything a little ways in or weapons that break in 3 hits?

The game is good but the level of praise it gets is ridiculously overhyped.

kek, honestly i hate the lack of dungeons so much in botw. the world is really a wastelans in botw with shrines, shrines and more shrines. Forgotten Temple is a JOKE, the labyrinths are barely passable. Yiga Hideout is really the only thing i guess.
