I feel he is very similar to Pac-Man in that people only really care about the first game and every game after is just riding on the names success of that, although atleast Pac-Man had a 2nd major hit with Ms Pac-Man, I can't think of any other Bomberman game like that. Also Bomberman is much much less iconic than Pac-Man. When it came to picking the 2nd Konami rep, Castlevania was the much better choice, I can name plenty of critically successful Castlevania games outside of the first one.
