That's because it's a "choice", not a choice. The canon choice is having Zelos save you. The other outcomes are just illusion of choice, and were never acknowledged from there on.

Is kingmaker worth putting with the isometric cancer and the tumblr-tier characters? It feels tempting for the roleplay value, but lord those character choices are sinfully bad.

It's weird because I prefer Zelos as a party member but the story is better with his betrayal and Kratos coming back. I wish the choice weren't mutually exclusive and had been designed differently. Like you HAVE to have Zelos at a certain friendship level for him to stay, and you have to do the Falinor scene for Kratos. Both can happen or neither, but I guess that would be tough to write and program.

The thing is, in that scenario Lloyd doesnt give a chance to Zelos and never gives a hope shit can change because Lloyd is a fucking retard and Collette thinks that hope will help them.
The only ones that knows anything of what is going on are Yuan and Kratos, but both say jack shit for most game. Kratos was another character that betrays Lloyd and was about to let his own fucking kid die without doing a thing if the renegades didnt saved Lloyd & friends at the last minute with magic. If Kratos opened his mouth about how everything was a lie with the chosen and how they could fix it, which was why Kratos was travelling around gathering items, most of the shit wouldnt happen like Collette becaming a puppet or Zelos dying in that scenario

People also forget that being the chosen one means to die. They cheat Collette with that tale but Zelos knew what the chosen one meant and didnt want to sacrifice himself for others that wanted him for fame and money, only for his sister(that was a fucking 2nd spare to bring Mithos sister back). Zelos also knew Kratos was working with Mithos and was doing some outside job, which was why he questions the others how they can trust Kratos at all.There is another plot that Zelos explains the mother never cared for him and wanted him to die when he was a toddler, so yeah, from that moment he couldnt trust anyone, especially women which is why he treats them like shit

The choice where Zelos lives is the canon, it is where more plot happens and Kratos leaves to space, but it sucks you cant use both Kratos and Zelos. The option where Zelos dies is so bad, that they stop talk about Zelos 5 minutes later that incident.

First of all, "badass" isn't an archetype, and characters who are written with the intent of being badass tend to come across as the exact opposite. If you were a complete normalfag casual, you might call Renegade Shepard a badass, and Kratos doesn't even meet that low threshold. Second, nothing he did could be classified as "badass". He has no personality and no identity beyond "mysterious guy who betrays the party", and his only role in the story other than being a traitor is to deliver plot coupons for the party to beat Mithos with.
