it's a big grind, first one was short and sweet imo.

Better than the first one

Wouldn't refute this but I enjoyed it. Thought the story was intriguing and had a nice ending.

Its just bigger and better 1, enjoyed it alot.

Yes, only shit part is the end game where you need to defend 20 fucking castles from attack to finish the game. So fucking boring

It's the same with quality of life improvements.

They changed it to 5. I actually liked the defense stuff, but making it mandatory for story progress was retarded.

The gameplay is good. Graphics are good if you're not on a toaster.

Characters and story are the most phenomenal shit but you probably knew that already. Riding drakes is cool. The nigger's xpac is actually kind of neat but I'm not too far into it, haven't played the elf because her voice is intolerable

It's the exact same thing as 1, and like 1 it's fun up until a point where it becomes repetitive then like says getting to the end is a chore and not worth it

Played it on the hardest difficulty abd had tons of fun, I did get my shit pushed in a lot but over coming the hard parts was part of the fun although some parts did make me want to bash my head into the wall.

Didnt mean to sage

Play it it's great.

Most of its' problems are story/lore wise
If you can forget it's a LotR game, then it's fairly decent and the nemesis system is pretty fun.
But holy fucking shit is the story/lore-rape horrible.

so is there a hope for a sequeI? still havent played the dlc but I saw the elf becomes a nazgul

It's pretty much the same as the first but fun. The Nemesis system is expanded which is basically why you play that game.
The whole Nazgûl ending with having to take a bazillion fortresses is tedious shit though. Haven't played the negro DLC but the elf one was fun enough.

It takes everything the first one did that was good and improves upon it.

Going back to the first one after playing this just shows you how bad the first one actually was, it's slow as fuck compared to SoW.

>Is this any good?
No, it's terrible.

But at least it has a cool black male white female romance. Fuck that racist Tolkyen.

Great game sadly tied to the shitheap of hacky garbage that is lord of the anal ring.

Game is pretty good, dlc is shit.

I love it. I still play it every once in a while to fuck around with muh orcs. The endgame isn't as bad as everyone says.

The first one did two things way better though. Weapon upgrades and player skills. The rune system was way better than the randomly generated weapons, and the skill trees being linear in one technically gave us less moves, but the entire tree was also elementally neutral. In that game you could always rely on your stun move, but in the second game the stun move is specifically a frost element move which a lot of orcs are immune too. The elemental thing should be an option, not mandatory.

It’s alright. It expands what made the nemesis system so interesting in the first place. Attacking fortresses and seeing your orcs fuck shit up is pretty fun. The story is pretty boring and mostly got in the way of stabbing and dominating. DLC is pretty trash imo.
Overall, it’s a fun game that actually improves on what the original did.
Can we get a game that uses the nemesis system that isn’t Snore of the Rings?

Fucking around with the Nemesis System and fortress sieges is great.

There was a job listing recently specifically looking for someone to work on fleshing out the Nemesis system even more. It might not be LOTR, but they're definitely working on something that uses the same system.

Personally I think there's a lot of room to expand on the shadow wars epilogue. Remember that they're supposed to take place over the course of like 60 years or something, and that elf chick takes the new ring and becomes a Nazgul herself

I'll never get to play it because the lazy assholes never cracked the 1.21 patch, which means load times are like 8 fucking minutes due to a glitch.

a female nazgul?

powerful

It's good and better than the first one. A big focus is siege defense, which I found extremely boring and tedious. Fortunately, it's completely optional after the first one (two?) you have to do. Other than that, everything is better than in the first, which was also good.

Even after the patches you can really tell it was balanced and designedto get you to buy lootboxes and shit. It's frankly annoying.

For example they throw you into areas with much higher level orcs and shit. Higher level captains will spawn around you (even though their marked patrol routes are nowhere near you). If you die, they get stronger. There's a ton of orcs so if you kill some captains or whatever so they drop loot, you can't really pick them up risk free (since it takes time to absorb it), combined with aforementioned shit.
There's tons of stuff like this in the game.
This in turn easily turns the game into a grind or an annoying shitfest, especially if you play on anything above normal difficulty.
It also gets really fucking bad towards the end.

There are far better open world games, especially if you want something more "relaxing".

Does this game let me be Legolas?

Didn't they purposefully make the game a grindfest just so they could sell the player microtransactions to bypass said grinding?

comfy orc hunt

Idk, didnt play it

My favorite one. This guy came back from death so many times and became strong as all fuck in the process.

>For example they throw you into areas with much higher level orcs and shit
i remember feeling this way when it first came out, but it's still that way after the patches?
i felt like in the first one the challenge sort of stayed the same and you had to lose on purpose to really get interesting enemy orcs around or focus on beefing up one just to have a fun fight, but then when i played shadow of war i got in to a position where enemy captains felt like they were showing up maybe 2 hours of playtime ahead of when they should.
how much did the patches sort that out? was getting to a new area supposed to give you a feeling like you got there way too fucking early (and i'm usually slow at progressing story shit)?

youtu.be/vaV6tjpSiD8 god bless this game

Attached: pash.jpg (1280x720, 151K)

I only played it after microtransactions were removed and it never felt like a grindfest to me. I don't even know how you could grind in this game. The only gameplay is fighting orcs and making orcs fight each other, both of which I already want to do anyway, since it's fun.

It sounds like he barely played the game at all and just gave up. Orcs are stronger than you on purpose, you're supposed to get the intel on them and use their weaknesses against them.

Complaining about shit like item pickups being too hard to get, are you kidding me? For one they stay on the map forever so you can come back to get them any time, and there's an upgrade that makes you just pick everything up instantly by walking over it.

>you can't really pick them up risk free (since it takes time to absorb it)

you only played the first hours?

>Get defeated by an orc
>The orc gets stronger and even harder to beat
>Get defeated by the same orc again

WOOOOOOOOOOOOW

>wtf I couldn't beat this guy by mashing the attack button
>Maybe I should try stealth, poison, using animals, long-range attacks, using his weaknesses against him that are literally listed out for me in his bio, calling in my bodyguard for backup, etc, etc
>Nah fuck that I'll try mashing the attack button again
>Ded

FUCKING ARTIFICIAL DIFFICULTY GRINDFEST 0/10

>kill him
>revives and ambush you

So, is the game harder than the first? One of the big facets of the nemesis system that was touted by game journalists and the like was how being killed by an orc makes the orc stronger. But I died once the entire game, and it was because I was being sloppy and careless. Of course the game journalists are just bad. I never really got to experience or make use of that mechanic.
I really enjoyed that first game otherwise though, and I already have the second in my library; haven't gotten around to starting it. I'm just curious about this

And this is my latest stronk dude. He's not a berserker but he got the "Gets Enraged By Everything" from getting brain damage, on top of his normal assassin skills. I gave him the Great Strength Epic trait, then upgraded him to Legendary and his random trait from that turned out to be Thick Skinned. Watching him go full tard rage is hilarious.

Attached: 356190_20190701222238_1.png (1920x1080, 2.11M)

No, it's definitely too easy. Though they added a difficulty mode to this one called Brutal which is basically a hardcore mode where you do more damage but enemies can basically 2-3 hit you and some stronger captains can just 1-hit wreck your shit. I recommend playing on this. It also makes events happen in one turn instead of 3 so there's more action in the orc ranks.

One of the very first things he did when I brought him along on a siege was fucking stab my other captain in the stomach lel

Finally, a good fucking shadow of war thread

Attached: 20180509184727_1.jpg (1920x1080, 170K)

Bruz was the best in the game. I miss him. I spent considerable time looking to get him out of his ShindoL state where his brain had become butter. I really didn't want to let it go. In some forum I read that some uruks and ologs would recover if you left them alone, and that's what I did but nothing happened. After that I left him in charge of a region, but it hurt me to see him in that state, saying again and again to keep the fort. My friends called me a coward for not killing him.

Then his brothers arrived. I thought of recruiting them, so that I could redeem myself, but it was impossible. They opposed me so that I embarrassed them more and more, hoping not to break them and to be able to recruit them, but I ended up driving them crazy too.

I ended up killing them. I couldn't stand the thought of leaving them like this. Bruz is still alive. Maybe I still want to find a way to heal the bastard.

ITS YOUR FORT, YOU CAN HAVE IT ITS YOUR FORT ALL RIGHT YOUR FORT I DONT WANT THE FOOORT

Attached: 1473655603430.png (500x387, 115K)

1/10, made me reply

I left him alive but some other random deranged orc killed him in a raid. Such is life in Mordor.

This was my favourite part of Shadow of War/Mordor, so much random shit out of your control can happen that will never happen in anyone else's game
I get the Bruz part was story dictated, but what happened after was unique, it makes it feel so much more personal

>Playing right now
>Bumble right into an enemy captain
>Start fighting
>Another enemy captain shows up
>Land killing blow on first captain
>He stands up and gets all his health back
>Almost kill second captain
>Have to run away and heal
>Blood brother of first captain shows up and immediately gets enraged
>Kills the second captain outright
>First captain and his blood brother are now both enraged constantly but can't find me so start slaughtering random mooks

I wonder if they're going to fight each other when they run out or normal orcs.

Attached: 356190_20190702160045_1.png (1920x1080, 3.06M)

>level 85
Holy fuck dude, I didn't even know you could get that high

Surprisingly comfy game. I fucking love the snow area.

Attached: 356190_20180804061655_1.png (1920x1080, 1.26M)

Player level maxes out at 80, so you always have to shame level 85 orcs to recruit them.

Attached: 356190_20180730131945_1.png (1920x1080, 1.87M)

it's good, only thing i felt was a downgrade from the first is how there's fewer generals/captains roaming around naturally through the world, I rarely saw them

>I'll never get to play it because the lazy assholes never cracked the 1.21 patch, which means load times are like 8 fucking minutes due to a glitch
I don't recall this being an issue. Was it just the latest (cracked) version that did it?

my best bro

Attached: 1553618502478.jpg (1920x1080, 365K)

The first orc that killed me turned into a bard.
I'd never been so happy to die before.

You could just buy it. It's been on sale for like $5. I know because that's when I got it.

I fucking love the bard and poet orks. Marauders in general are fucking top tier and have baller pimp fortresses.

Attached: 356190_20180727220621_1.png (1920x1080, 2.37M)

as a LOTR noob, how did they rape the lore

The two main ones are turning Shelob into a tranny instead of a giant fucking spider. Also something about Isildur's ring making no sense in the timeline. I dunno I'm a LOTRlet myself, those are just the two I've seen people most pissed about.

What Shelob is a tranny? Thought she was a woman in the game, I don't remember that being hinted at

She is supposed to be a woman, she's just fucking ugly and looks like a tranny.

Attached: 356190_20180723154229_1.png (1920x1080, 1.01M)

Best open world game I ever played was dying light, it's not exactly relaxing tho

I had one who always overcame death, was invulnerable to stealth and did surprise attacks.

He came back time and time again, it was annoying as fuck but I respect the game for having this mad as balls random enemy generator.

>Enemy comes back from death like 10 times
>"Just stay dead you fucker!"
>He actually stops coming back

Attached: 1551804624258.png (700x700, 1.87M)

Does it matter if I play first one before this?

She could dominate me any day.

Not really, but you can import your best follower and biggest rival from the nemesis system in the first game into the second. And you know, plot shit.

Not sure why everyone has a problem with the epilogue, I wasn't playing this game for the story campaign - I just wanted to murder a billion orcs with my dominated orcs.

Garbage dishonor to Tolkien's work. Literally anyone who likes this garbage fanfic tier game cannot call himself a Middle Earth fan.

Played this game on ps4 some years ago, REALLY enjoyed it.

Never got the tribe dlc's, were they worth it if I really liked the nemesis system and just want more?

Also is there somewhere cheaper I can get it than $24 on Steam? Not really looking to pirate (my ISP has been up my ass recently)

lol who cares? It's fun and it's not like it's canon so stop worrying about it.
