Not my favorite design by any means, and Kazooie's perpetual bedroom eyes creep me out, but I think if N&B had been the game people were wanting/expecting the new character designs would be more tolerated than they are. I actually don't remember there being much hostility toward the designs when a new Banjo game was first teased in 2006, just excitement over a new Banjo game. Maybe I just didn't notice it.

Is it safe to say the barbarian look has always more or less been the canon look? The red-haired simon only appeared in Chronicles, Judgement, and a couple guest appearances IIRC. Nowadays, it looks like they're sticking to the original look anyway.
