Reason being that because the number of people on that team is so high the chance of that 1 person getting a free game being you is now so much lower. It's not that much of an exploit. You're still limited by your max boost limit. If you play games often and have achievements in them you can just idle in it for 30 minutes and cash out your points there. But since more than half the userbase is Corgi they dialed back after the complaints, so they now have adjusted Cockatiel to the last place so that the other teams can get podiums more easily.
