Gamers are probably the dumbest consumers ever. They're the only consumers who buy a product before said product even comes out, putting themselves in an essentially a gamble for whether they even like said game.
Things like microtransactions and day one season passes containing content stripped out of the base game would never have been a thing had gamers reject and boycott such practices. Let's not forget about annual titles (i.e. sports or Call of Duty games) that pertain to its status quo that continue making game after game with not much difference.
Then you have paid online multiplayer. Console gamers are literally giving their money away for free for this. How this even became an industry standard just shows you how bad and stupid gamers are as a consumer.
