Finished Nier 2 days ago, what a ride.
What is it with Taro and punished nuclear shotas?

What will Nier Apocalypse be about

>people are getting turned into salt
>Start project Gestalt
>Humanity gets extinct
>Project Gestalt fails
>Project Yorha starts
>Turns out humanity has been extinct all along
>Project Yorha fails
I dunno, gotta switch themes by now

The gang have to be around unless they've been defunct or there are other rogue Android's like a2 out there

Here's an A2

finished both automata and original nier recently, should I play drak3 as well?

You can but don't expect it to be anything like those two

From what the art shows, it'll be focused on the 2B palette swap from Soul Caliburn (who Taro just decided to make into its own character because why the fuck not)

getting emil to stop in front of the resistance camp AND have the correct rare inventory is one of the most tedious and annoying things i've had to do in a game

like wtf if you were some shmuck how would you ever realize he had a special stock like 30% of the times you can manage to stop him in front of the camp

he has so much important shit like the skirt remover, two unique weapons and a dozen rare mats

No, don't play Drakengard 3. It's an awful game to play through. I beat the game and got the true ending and can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that it was time wasted. Watch a long-play of the game, don't waste your actual playing time on that shit. The best part of that game are the characters, music, and story. The gameplay is really just in the way, and being able to skip through on a youtube video would have been much better.

Nier and Atomato are in my top 10 favorite games, but none of the Drakengard games are actually worth playing. I have played them and beat them, again none of them are actually worth playing. While the Niers didnt have the best of gameplay, the Drakengard games have far worse gameplay loops and feel to their combat and traversal.

>skirt remover
I didn't even know this was a thing
And here I was self destructing every time after fast travel

All three have shit gameplay?

You have to stop Emil in front of the camp, he isn't always on the right "route" to drive by it either, and it's seemingly random if he will have the correct inventory or not.

but if you stop him in front of the camp and he has the right inventory, he will have two Fist weapons for sale, and a bunch of rare materials, and the dress module which swaps your skirt/shorts on and off

I see.
Any benefit and replaying past the E ending?

Don't listen to this guy Drakengard 3 is definitely not as good as either Nier but if you liked those you should at least give it an honest chance and then decide on your own whether you like it or not. It tends to polarize people a lot, even by Yoko Taro standards. Personally I think it's a very irregular game but still has some absolutely brilliant moments that make it all worth it.

Also, watching longplays or whatever trivivalizes the entire point of videogames, so if you don't want to play it, you'd be better off doing something else entirely. Watching longplays instead of playing IS a waste of time. This applies to the first Drakengard as well, which you might want to play as well. It's a horrible game, but great at the same time.

The first is the worst version of Musou gameplay you'll readily find. There are no redeemable qualites to the gameplay in this game. People will tell you the dragon bits are fine, but they're only fine in comparison to everything else. They're like the most barebones star fox missions created.

The second tries to make it better by making the characters less stuck in animations, but this one doesn't even have Taro's actual writing and was spearheaded by some other dude. Just watch a synopsis of it, desu.

The third has the "best" combat but is still really bad. The framerate is atrocious and constantly falls under 20 frames per second at all times. Apart from this, the game has the most awful camera I've endured in a long time. It gets stuck and bumps into everything and makes controlling your character feel more sluggish and hard to control than it should. The combat has no weight to any of the swings, there is no depth or complexity to the combat, the game is far too easy on all of the difficulties, there is no level design, to speak of, and the bosses are not worth all of the horrible repetitive gameplay to get to them.

Do Drakengards emulate well?
Nier on RPCS3 runs surprisingly well.

Drakengard games are made to be miserable awful experiences by design (D2 is not Yoko Taro and is pretty much non-canon so just forget it exists).

The original Drakengard is legendary among kusoge fans because it has one of the most insane batshit stories ever committed to a video game, while also being one of the worst and most mundane gameplay experiences ever made.

Yoko Taro finds violence to be this weird alien thing where he doesn't understand why humans would enjoy it, so his games explore the madness and senselessness of violence/killing, with Drakengard 1 taking this to the extreme and having you play as an irredeemable psycho who just LOVES MURDER and has to kill literal entire armies worth of dudes. very enjoyable for Caim, very tedious for the player.

D3 is better but still lampshades the "senseless murder" angle with stuff like, Zero commenting on how arbitrary and annoying it is when the game roadblocks you to kill all enemies before proceeding

Fuck YOU

Thank you frens. I will keep this in mind.

Why would you play a GAME where the worst part of it is the GAME? That's an awful thing to recommend someone to do. If anything, that is a waste of time because you're telling someone to indulge into a piece of a medium where the only reedemable qualities of said piece are things you don't need to experience through that medium.
The only brilliant parts of any of the Drakengard games are found outside of the combat, which you don't need to readily play the game to experience.
Playing through the Drakengard games is all about the story, characters, and music. Everything else related to the gameplay is far below subpar and should not be recommend to anyone. Drakengard 1 and 3 are super cool story wise, but playing them was definitely an after thought for Yoko-Taro.

I feel like Ending E should really be the last thing the player does, thematically speaking, but if you've done E and not deleted your save, sure, go do the other endings, finish the 3 Arenas and then see the DLC ending music video. (for the 9S arena, always pick the normal robot with Gun Arm).

Also if you talk to this person here a bunch they will let you fight the developer CEOs.

youtube.com/watch?v=2NVDLaHex6Y

I wish I could get ending E, my game is pirated

can't say i have much sympathy, nier automata's not a game that should be pirated, it's too good for that

no sympathy

Attached: 7355928.jpg (715x590, 141K)

I downloaded it back in 2017 and forgot about it, picked it up this year and had a great time. I'm the kind of faggot that buys stuff from the dev's official store anyway.

The main theme of the xpac so far a Loss and dealing how you deal with it

So I would assume that Apocalypse will take place 1000 or so years in the future on some other meme date that Taro loves, where we will not see any of the characters that we saw in automata but we will see replacas of them or some shit idk

I actually tried just a few weeks ago, it was completely unplayable getting 1-8fps, but my CPU is a bit old (i5 3470) so if you have something significantly better it might work. Visually it looked exactly like the original (so, complete dogshit) as you can see from the screenshot I took back then, so performance seems to be the only issue.

You're underestimating the narrative value interactivity has, particularly in a game where the gameplay tends to invoke so many feelings, many of them negative, sure, but still feelings that you wouldn't be experiencing otherwise. Like I said, videogames are at its core, interactive. If you "consume the product" removing that element, you're not really getting the actual experience, you're getting an incomplete version. It's like listening to an album but removing the voice track because you don't like how the singer sounds.
Imagine watching Branch D without having first experienced the overwhelmingly exhausting final boss. The ending doesn't have the same weight, every time you fail, the eventual victory... you don't feel the way you're supposed to, it lacks the proper context.

Also, having also played Drakengard 1, I don't think 3's gameplay is nowhere near as bad as you make it seem to be. Even with its many problems, I actually think it does a few things better than Nier and even Automata.

Buy it bitch.

Kys

I either pirate games or want to buy the collectors edition with all the physical shit that will sit on my already cluttered shelves. I have no middle ground. I couldn't stop at a 2B figurine.

I'm a level 71 and have some Spears maxed out. Do I have a chance against emil? If not we're can I farm to increase my rank?

I pirated the game, got the 4 main endings, bought the game, copied my savefile, only played another 20 minutes to get ending E and deleted my save file.
N:A really shouldn't be pirated

Best girl.

I'm talking about the cave fight? Also what chips do you recommend?

Why is the Bunker in Black and White? What was the reasoning behind it?

auto

>the Bunker is in color once the truth is revealed and all hell breaks loose
Why is Emil's mansion black and white?

I think I did mine at a higher level, maybe like 84ish. Grinding wasn't too bad from what I recall.

I just let the game grind itself with A2. Go to the place where all of the little desert robots congregate and try to have sex with each other, I'm fairly certain it's the boss room. Then just turn on all the auto combat chips and all the chips that boost your attack and shit and just let the game go to town. Just check in every so often to make sure you don't need to heal.

If I'm recalling incorrectly and the difficulty scales your EXP, then I did that exact thing from before but I played the game (mashing the attack button, while looking on every so often to heal instead.

Attached: 1497035399350.jpg (616x478, 55K)

I'm going to farm like this to unlock Kaine's outfit

Even when the truth came out, I never saw the Bunker in color once

D1 combat is both intentionally and unintentionally a hellish slog, because it was made by a sweatshop-tier developer and Taro spent a significant amount of dev time yelling at the staff to do things correctly (or so he claims). So the combination of thematic hellishness (violence is fucked up so make the player slice through hundreds of dudes monotonously while Caim has the time of his life), and dev incompetence (shoddy UI and controls and graphics) create the ultimate kusoge

The commander is.
Could it have something to do with the fact that the bunker is a fortress of lies?

The Emil quest is one of the last things in the endgame, and to fully complete it you are gonna need all weapons found/bought and max-upgraded anyway.

He's not very hard to beat in car form, the real challenge will come once you have all the weapons maxed and head out to the desert.

Should've specified that I'm fighting in his car for at level 71

>my game is pirated
There is ending invincibility trainer avaiable for your kind of scum.

Taro's explanation for Emil's Mansion was this: >"Neither Emil nor the butler are human, and they won't age. So to reflect time standing still, I gave the mansion a monochrome color palette."

Basically the same exact reasoning can be applied to the Bunker. and only when the stagnation is broken (by the incident in lategame) do colors begin to appear.

Step 1: Add as many EXP+ chips as possible to 9S and a Stun chip
Step 2: Go to theme park
Step 3: Beat up on statue until it starts moving
Step 4: Hack it a handful of times to kill it, gain a bajillion levels

rinse and repeat

So you can kill that statue, neat!
This game has so many hidden things.

If you go back to Kaine's shack (after completing the Lunar Tear sidequest) as 9S after 2B is killed by A2, he will have a moment of remembrance next to her sword.

>1s tumblr gif
The lack of A2 art saddens me
I'm gonna make her in Sims 4

That quest bugged for me, the key to the elevator doesn't work, have to chapter select

Here's some A2

Will the series go
>A super marketable, casual approach. Limiting Taro and letting you experience an enthralling storyline in one run or ruin other Yoko Taro staples, as it transitions into a AAA series
Or
>Let Taro go wild, since his character and trademark weirdness is marketable in itself and has found a niche in gamers

Taro would rather leave if his creativity was limited

how in the fuck is set thousands of years in the future but it doesnt even look like 100 years has passed?

It's set in 11945 AD

How does Nier emulate now? Is it fully playable?

Is the Western version of Nier better than the Japanese one?

Fully. I finished it recently.
The worst part is the northern plains that has slowdowns. Otherwise fixed 30FPS on 1280x720.
Just follow the guide on RPCS3 wiki, it's pretty easy.

Papa Nier is a very wholesome dude.
The voice acting isn't bad. Kainé is great.

they'll never bully taro into doing anything he doesn't want to, Hori Yuji (one of the Head Honchos of Square who is also in charge of DraQu) threatened to quit if they didn't let Taro make Nier Automata in the first place. He's protected, like Kojima

Kojima isn't protected look at what happened with Konami. Had Kojima been allowed to do Silent Hills then you'd be right
