Reminder that despite SvC Chaos is ultimately inferior as a fighting game compared to CvS and CvS2 due to its many flaws and bugs (and bosses that almost as annoying if not more than Magaki), it's way more entertaining to the point that it even had a dedicated Chinese comic adaptation.
Despite the fact that it didn't even have Haohmaru, Nakoruru and Morrigan in the whole roster.

Because its roster choices were a lot more interesting compared to CvS(2)'s "fighting game only" rule and they redid Capcom's characters in their sprite style of that time (while putting in the work for Midnight Bliss).

I wish I could get into KoF, the games look great (minus XIV) and the characters are cool but I can't stomach the gameplay. Not saying it's bad, it just never clicks with me for some reason.

The four different jump types are what really fuck with me. I just can't do them. I learn rolls and Blowbacks and I understand most of the meter systems (even if I have weak execution, but I usually pick grapplers anyway) but being able to do the correct jump or hop for the pressure, mixup, or dodge that I want to do consistently is just outside of my reach.

I've always wanted a team-based game that was the midpoint of Marvel and KOF; assists from your teammates but no tagging. Your team order now matters a lot, since your point benefits a lot from having two assists (and would preferably be a character whose assist you didn't need), your Mid would need to make do with one, and your Anchor would have to be a character that doesn't need assists, making the usual "Anchor needs to use meter well" meta of KOF-style games even more important. Give each character two assists to choose from to give variety and team-building flexibility and you're golden.

They "redid" Capcom's characters by repurposing old sprites like Heavy D for Balrog. It's the literal opposite of soul. Meanwhile the CVS games had the brightest and most colorful sprites for all the KoF characters since the Fatal Fury, AoF and SamSho cast all had kino art styles already.

I'm still baffled by the fact they genderbended Terry for Heroines when she exists.

SNK were just great at character designs in general. It's a big reason I'm so into their games, so many fantastic rosters.
