>Xbox 360 came in 2005 and PS3 came in 2006
>Wii U came in 2012
Yet it's only just as if not less powerful than those fossils. Wtf Nintendo?
Xbox 360 came in 2005 and PS3 came in 2006

nintendo switch is about as powerful as a 360 now. but it's poetable. people would have killed to have a 360 on the go.
What in the FUCK happened to your gamepad?
mario maker, BOTW, yoshi etc. are better than 360/ps3 exclusive
switch is much more powerful than a 360 dude
the tegra x1 is superior to 360 gpu
switch is less powerful than the wii u, only benefits from modernized hardware allowing better performing graphics api's.
nintendo has been sucking cock since iwata took over. the wii was literally just repurposed gamecube hardware. they resold you the same fuckin console you already had, just in a vertical form factor, abled to read normal DVD discs, and muh waggles. I think gamecubes were like $50 at that point.
Switch is more powerful than 360 by a fair margin, look at the last gen ports on it like Dragons Dogma.
>tfw they ported most of it's shit to the Switch
my WiiU is just a Pikmin3,TW101, XCX and #FE machine
The WiiU has a better exclusive library than the Xbone and PS4 combined.
>switch is less powerful than the wii u,
that's factually wrong spec-wise
If you hack it you can pretty much play the entire Ninty library on it, including BotW. That's the only thing its good for.
no, the switch is factually worse than a ps3 specwise.
performance wise it can rival the wii-u because of vulkan api. vulkan was basically the reason xbox one x and ps4pro were made though, so in full reality nintendo really doesn't have any edge whatsoever.
>vulkan was basically the reason xbox one x and ps4pro were made though
Yet games still run like ass on those consoles.
Yes enjoyed them greatly on my PC in 4k resolution, with added mods of course.
Gamecube was made before Iwata and it was a powerful console, i always wondered what happened to Nintendo after GC
It has the worst catalog of any console too
switch is underclocked/undervolted even in dock mode, it's a mobile console running at 10 watts iirc, meanwhile the ps3 is like 200 watts on average ingame (my pc is at 700 watts at full power).
A new patch will change that iirc.
And no way the ps3 gpu the custom G70 aka NV47 at 500 MHz on the PS3 beat the custom Tegra X1 in row power
>Nintendo has less powerful hardware with a unique gimmick of some sort
Stop the fucking presses
pretty sure its granted than x/pro games run better than the original xbone/ps4, or look better.
vulkan support became really important for how much it could offer gaming so that's why we had this retarded mid-gen upgrade shit. vulkan was readily becoming available on pc hardware and the draw to consoles wouldn't have been as impressive was probably their thinking.
point is without vulkan, switch would have just been a goddamn nintendo vita if it kept it's same form factor. As the wii-u was "meant" to compete with xbox one and ps4, the switch is really only "meant" to compete with x/pro; regardless of the fact nintendoshit has been last-gen shit since the wii.
>People still believe the Switch is weaker than PS3/360
That's a yikes from me.
The WiiU was a hair more powerful than the 360 and PS3. The Switch matches the WiiU for performance in it's portable mode. Docked mode doubles that, raising the GPU from 300mhz to 800mhz, and the CPU from 1ghz to 1.75ghz.
yeah that's retarded.
the ps3 gpu is similar to the Radeon HD 6570 / nVidia 7800, it's inferior to the tegra x1
The switch max power usage is around 15 watts, while the ps3 even with 150-200 watts is still inferior power wise. Ten times more power for an inferior rendering.
I would say that with the next patch, and if you bring the tegra x1 to 1000mhz and cpu to 2ghz, it come close to the hd 7770 of the ps4
What I'm wondering is why we don't see double the performance boost on console like we get on PC when using the Vulkan API.
nintenigger retardation seems like it's sticking around til the end of humanity.
this remind me of people saying that the wii u was weaker than the ps3 and than the ps2 was stronger than the wii
just because nintendo stopped caring about raw power since the gamecube mean that their consoles are THIS weak
why are you posting your selfie, snoyboi
And I'm a pc dude, nintendies don't know shit about power. My geforce 7800 14 years ago was stronger than your Ps3
depends on the games
The Last of Us, Red Dead, Gears 3, Forza, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 3, God of War blah blah blah arguably look better than any Wii U or Switch game still.
Tegra X1's GPU is practically a GTX830, which itself is about as powerful as a Geforce 9800. It's absolutely superior to the PS3.
The fuck does wattage have to do with anything anyway? By your metric, the most powerful console of all time must be the Xbox 360, as that fucker sucked in nearly 300 watts.
Switch has the Witcher 3, nuDoom, nuWolf etc. that run even on mobile mode. and they weren't as optimized as some ps3 games.
You're confusing realistic texture, light baking, optimisation, LOD etc. with raw power.
Uncharted 3 for exemple heavily relied on baked scene instead of dynamic lights.
Polish developer CD Projekt Red has ruled out bringing its upcoming open-world role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.
"It’s impossible. It would have to be a different game--a smaller game, not an open-world game, or with terrible loading times, with sacrifices in graphics," CEO Marcin Iwinski told MCV India.
"We definitely would have loved to, but The Witcher 2 on PC was so big that making it work on Xbox 360 took us a year," he said. "The Xbox 360 was a more powerful and easier-to-code-on platform than PS3, so that would have taken us another year or year-and-a-half."
last gen ports with all the lowest settings, lowest resolution, no antialiasing, 20-30 fps. What a powerful machine lmao
it's pretty granted that every port for the switch is a piece of shit running or looking worse, and thats coming from already being vulkan optimized from porting old games that hadn't had it yet -- or in the case of nu-doom, adding vulkan support to the pc version in-tandem and getting even better results.
bing bing wahooo
Nintendo is retarded
>n64 didn’t use disc
>GameCube disc were smaller for some fucking reason
>no backlight screen till the sp
>Wii u gamepad
>switch cartridges being tiny
Nintendo is just being Nintendo
it's because of the mobile part, if the switch was purely docked, they could put better textures, light, normalmaps, models etc.
the docked mode is definitly stronger than the ps3/360 consoles, on paper at least.
The Switch came out in late 2017 and runs even worse than the Wii U in many cases.
What of it? Nintendo is just a garbage company.
LMAO
Yeah and the Switch doesnt have a shit library too right?
The Switch has most of that cut out. Even shadow casting in Revelations 2 was removed despite being a mobile game.
>runs even worse than the Wii U in many cases.
Name one.
Honestly, your desk looks just as dirty. Way to shoot yourself into the foot
I'm saying universally.
I dont recall the Wii U lacking any AA, running below 30 fps more often than not, having res scaling on almost every game. The Switch is a shit console that doesnt beyond its lack of features, paid online, and shit controllers.
Nintendo console hardware has been lagging behind since the N64.
>n64 has AA and games that stay at 30 fps
n64 confirmed more powerful than the switch, how will nintendo ever recover?
Pretty sure the CPU stays on its core clock of 1020mhz, even in docked.
Naturally though an OC to that would be safe since that's what the Tegra X1 is made for, but the Switch's cooling is the limitting factor here.
GC sold ~20 million despite being the best hardware design of the generation. Every system in the generation that followed was in some way a 'Gamecube 2'.
Wii sold 100 million more systems despite being a mild refresh of the last-gen system.
Plus Nintendo pretty much had to get out of the hardware power struggle because Microsoft and Sony are both giant conglomerates that could afford to take massive losses on hardware sales to gain a market advantage. Nintendo is a little toy company, and if they're not making money off of those toy sales they're fucked.
That's what happened to Nintendo.
>n64 didn’t use disc
>GameCube disc were smaller for some fucking reason
To avoid the predatory license Sony had attempted to force them into. Nintendo would have been paying Sony the bulk of the game license fees, essentially reduced to a third-party on their own platform.
You said that the Switch is weaker than the WiiU. Give one example.
Actually Gamecube was more powerful than PS2
>switch is less powerful than the wii u
You want (you)s that bad user?
GameCube wasnt much stronger than the ps2 desu, even if it came out several years after the ps2. (2002 vs 1999)
in some aspects the ps2 was stronger too
The issue with the gamecube was not the raw power, but the storage space and lack of buttons on the controllers for some multiplats. The multiplats that made it to the cube usually run better than their PS2 counterparts
overall yes the CG is a bit above ps2 but in some aspects ps2 was better
Ps2 also had BLACK
The Switch is even more outdated.
It's arguably less powerful than the Wii U.
>GameCube wasnt much stronger than the ps
But it was, and the key thing is it did it for a much lower component cost. That's why the generation that followed everyone sourced their CPUs from IBM.
The PS2's hardware represented a technological dead end, part of why that system has been so difficult for emulators.
>GC sold ~20 million despite being the best hardware design of the generatio
That was the Dreamcast. Its PowerVR2 was an absolutely brilliant design and has better image quality than GameCube too.
WiiU's GPU was several generations older, only being capable of OpenGL ES 2. The GPU in the Switch supports the latest OpenGL ES 3.2, and Vulkan. Nintendo's custom NVN is essentially just Vulkan + Nvidia extensions with the acronym being something like Nvidia's Vulkan for Nintendo.
>Snoyshills aren't even original with their bait anymore
see
power or not, in the end PS2 got GT4, BLACK, God of War 2, SOTC, Jak 3, MGS3 etc. that looked really impressive.
What games fully exploited GC power? MArio Sunchine? Re4? Starfox? Not much really
Low effort bait
the failure of the dreamcast and sega is probably the greatest tragedy of gaming history desu
I love my Wii U!
Did I take a time warp to 2013? What is the point of this thread? Also Wii U was more powerful than 360 and PS3, even if not by much.
WiiU’s CPU has 50% more general performance than the 360’s GPU and 150% more general performance than Cell. Yes, the CPU gets beaten by the 360 CPU in SIMD performance and absolutely destroyed in SIMD by Cell, but it doesn’t really matter because it’s better to do all SIMD on GPU now anyway.
As for the GPU, the WiiU has either slightly more or slightly less shader units than the 360 (there’s still some debate about it). But it doesn’t matter either way because the WiiU’s GPU uses a much newer version of the Terrascale unified shader architecture than the 360’s GPU (which used a prototype Terrascale only). Also the rest of the WiiU GPU is based in a newer general design while the remainder of the 360 GPU is based on the very old ATi X1800. As for the PS3’s GPU, it’s a fucking archaic split shader architecture, outdated even when it was launched. WiiU wins here.
Not to mention how the WiiU has a 32MB eDRAM pool while the 360 only has 10MB and the PS3 doesn’t even have some.
Not him, but as a core PCfag that love gameplay oriented games, I agree. I've got more hours of game in mario maker, smash, mario makrt, splatoon, bayonetta and botw than any ps4 game really, expect bloodborn.
PS4 movie game are not my jam.
Exactly, there's no game on the 360 or PS3 that looks as good as or is as technologically impressive as BoTW, just like there's no game on the PS2 that can compete against Xenoblade Chronicles.
They weren't weak compared to the previous generation, they just weren't as big of a leap beyond the previous generation as the other systems.
Ironically in the Wii this was due to Nintendo being skeptical about investing in a new console system, resulting in the use of hardware that was already on hand, and in the WiiU it was due to Nintendo being over confident about their new console system and choosing totally custom hardware that wasn't ready yet.
The WiiU was the end of an era. The economics of the console market and the reality of production schedules meant that the off-the-shelf SOCs originally intended for tablets chosen by Sony and Microsoft for their consoles were more capable than Nintendo's custom hardware. Unsurprisingly for the Switch rather than develop a new custom hardware platform, they bought an off-the-shelf tablet SOC.
What is that? An attachment for the wii?
n-no you see it is good when console hardware is a piece of shit, b-because, because NINTENDO OK????
I can't believe how xbox to date has no games and ps4 only has bloodborne, meanwhile I literally still can play splatoon on the wiiu even if there's splatoon 2 on the switch. is sad really
andre the giant hand or small wii u
>posting wojack
seething much
is King Kong on PS2 the best looking game of this generatio? Maybe BLACK too. GT4 also can easily pass as a 360/ps3 title, early title at least
seriously king kong looks better than most ps3/360 era games
youtube.com
lolwut? No. It looks okay for a PS2 game but there's no way in hell that looks like a PS3/360 era title. Even the 360 version of the same game has better lighting. Both seem to have fucked or no shadows, though
