I've heard mixed things about this game. How do you guys feel about it?

I think it was not only worth my time, but stands on its own feet well enough as an open-world game to suffice for extra playtime.
There were a few hiccups on a few parts, but the way the challenges were added in gave you a little push to do things differently enough - keeping speed up, kicking the shit out of people, etc. and I enjoyed the melee combat.
Still fun, the movie will probably be decent.
The story falls off half way through unfortunately.
one of the most broken pieces of shit ive ever played.
"Not Gta". Or "Chink Gta" the only thing I like about the game is the setting. Nothing really that great about it.
It's amazing for what it was. And for being called a GTA clone, I enjoyed it way more than GTAV
YOU NOT A REAL MAN WITHOUT A PORK BUN
Very boring and bland
GODDAMN DOGEYES
It was good. Nothing incredible, but you should play it.
If you enjoy something between Yakuza and GTA both thematically and as it relates to gameplay, then Sreeping Doggos is it.
Pok gai.
Best combat system of all of gta-likes DLC missions are top tier
> You see that? You can do that shit /whenever/ you want
god bless rockcock64 for selling me on the game with that bit alone
It has a great but underutilized map. Like, you're driving around and if you pay attention and explore then you find all sorts of fairly complex areas with absolutely nothing in them. I swear to god it feels like half of the planned missions were cut from the final game. I can imagine this game really satisfying an autist who loves just driving around and seeing the sights.
it's like GTA but fun
chinese GTA, ridiculously bad plot, sequel b8 despite the main character deserving to be shot in the back of head by either side
It's like GTA except the driving is shit, which is the only point of a GTA-like game
>implying the driving in GTA is good
Dating in this game also sucked.
I think for what it is it's pretty fun. I bought it on release since it reminded me of both True crimes games. Not sure what the extra content is since I played without it but its 2$ now and I had fun.
It's not like most of GTA has good driving though.
It really felt rushed, i think in total it has around 30 missions
You start as a lowly errand boy and by the next day you're already a red pole
I felt like the game had a good amount of content, though it probably could have been better distributed throughout the map. It doesn't overstay its welcome, in either case, and getting 100% isn't too much of a chore.
I saw this game at the store used today. I think I'm gonna get it tomorrow after reading this thread. It's real cheap.
YOU'RE A HABITUAL FLIRT
it's only 2 bucks on steam if you have a decent pc
The basic handling mechanics vastly outshine SD. Cars in SD have this weird thing where the wheels angle in increments rather than smooth analog adjustments. Or the PC port was dog shit, I'd find that equally likely, but that still puts GTA ahead. The world has a lot more character though, I wish I could get into it for that aspect.
Really fun to fuck around in, some of the areas make me wish there was an actual chinatown in my 3rd world shithole.
DE LE YELLOW FEVER
if you want to skip songs on the radio stations just flip back and forth through two stations. It'll skip songs and the radio ads.
9/10 story seemed to end way too quickly at the last few missions
sleeping dogs was a true crime game. They changed the name because of True Crime's reputation of being really mediocre.
It's "Every John Woo flick: The video game". It's fucking great.
"WEI SHEN MOTHERFUCKER, WHO ARE YOU!?"
The story takes place over an entire year but doesn't properly portray the passage of time, so it feels like you go from literally who to top dog in a matter of days.
The combat is like Bamham, only it's possible to use nothing but Strike and Counter the entire game. You have to go out of your way to unlock new moves you don't really need.
The Definitive edition is a graphical downgrade and also has so much DLC it will waste 5 minutes of your life activating it when you start a new game while also powering Wei up to mid-game levels.
The radio is 100% garbage
THIS is true.
So much better controls, fighting, game mechanics, driving, vehicles, storyline than GTA games
there's got to be at least one song you enjoyed
The only one I even remember is YOU'RE A HABITUAL FLIRT and only because it's a meme in these threads
I'll give you this, definitely a game with very few good songs. Take What's Mine and Protagonists are probably the best songs on the game
Definitely worth getting and playing. Played it when it came out and it had some of the most fun combat I've ever played.
Apparently the original version is better than the remastered version? I read that but haven't played the remastered one so don't know what's wrong with it
>Standard version vs Definitive edition
Which is the best one?
Definitive comes with all the DLC. I don’t know about that downgrade comment as I’ve only played the console versions and there was only an improvement. It also goes for like 2-4 bucks on sales. My favorite DLC is one that takes place in a classic kung fu island movie tournament called the Zodiac Tournament. Don’t waste money on cars as doing certain missions gives you cars and clothes that have special perks with them. Plenty of content to last you for a little while if you’re looking for something to hold you over until the next big release or something
Played both. Definitive changed the lighting with makes the models facial features not show as much. Wei's in game model definitely changed too, his face is a lot more blurry and clay looking. Pic related left=definitive, right=standard
It's a Hong Kong Cop/Triad flick. It has some really good moments in the story and sometimes the fighting can be satisfying. The driving isn't that good and feels cartoony, and the console graphics kind of suck. I recommend the original edition and not the definitive edition. The original looks and plays better in my opinion.
It's like Yakuza if Yakuza wasn't boring
fuck I didn't know about this
kinda regret playing definitive now
I can't belive that is the same person at all.
My bro once said, “He’s playing his gook game where he drives a Datsun.” Very true. You get Martial arts, Triads doing dumb shit to each other from dumb in creative muscle thugs to a joker smile psychotic, betrayals, guns, neat cars, hilarious criminal shananigans like stealing fake rolexes, good hand to hand & gun battles, memorable characters, a good story, great voice acting, nice fukn housing from the shit shack apartment with roaches and flies to the ultra luxurious suite in the expensive part of town, massage parlors (it feels better to get the back alley girls than the legit guy massouse), pistols, fully automatic rifles and sub machine guns, grenade launcher, just hide that shit by bolstering it, steal practically any vehicle by braking the window (which sets off the alarm) or by picking the lock, even stealing cop cars/trucks/bikes which pisses them off, jump kick a-holes off bridges, fake fucking watches that are not rolexes to wear (did I mention that already?), clothes ranging from rags-dirty jeans-tee shirts-nice suits-king fu getups-cop gonna kill you swat outfits, that pig head hat thing, a giant butcher cleaver, tire irons in every car’s trunk, racing street games for more money and fame, that one rat looking mofo who gets turned into soup, good music (most of it but not all on the radio), goofy ass karaoke to impress friends-enemies-lovers, spying missions relying on sneaking into apartments, helping idiots with broken cars and then getting robbed, finding smugglers in sewers and knocking their teeth out, running anyone over with any vehicle, calling cabs and either paying to go somewhere or pulling the driver out and flooring the pedal...ITS LIKE EVERYTHING YOU WANT FROM EVERY KUNG FU MOVIE. And fucking up this one really fat (affectionally named *two chin*) gangster leaders fung shuei by breaking into his house and moving chairs/the piano/changing the clocks time/breaking vases. fuk me, I’m at the limit!
Yikes
definitive has all the DLC too so dont be too worried. the fight club one is good. i didn't care for the others though
It does more than this though. I've notice changes to the post processing and the lighting at night and day feels different. Original game's lighting felt more atmospheric.
the textures don't look as good either. lighting changed too. Night time is much lighter so everything has a weird glow to it. Again pic related right=definitive, left=standard
I wouldn't have known this so thank you for bringing it up. I'm a console fag so I didn't know
God damn has there ever been a remaster that didn't completely fuck the aesthetic up?
It kind of coasts on its strong atmosphere, unlike Just Cause which had great mobility and fast paced explosive chaos, Sleeping Dogs has pretty basic shooting, weak Arkham melee combat, and schizo driving. The story is also pretty obviously rushed near the end.
This. It's a bad comparison screenshot, but when I first played on the PC the standard edition; the night time felt really good, the lights in the city really shined bright. In Definitive, it's too foggy and lacks the same charm the original had. In day time, some of the bloom was way too intense in Definitive, it looks fucking terrible. Why do these cocksuckers like to ruin the original aesthetic of games with "remasters"?
I enjoyed it quite a bit. Fun combat, and a fun world to just mess around in. I was able to find a repeatable physics glitch to launch cars out of the game world. Which isn't something you see now days. Don't play the enhanced edition, just play the normal one.
Outside the market the world felt very dead to me and ugly. Fun melee combat but easier than Arkaham. Fun gunplay but boring mission. Overall decent game.
I am still mad about Triad Wars. Had potential to be Warframe style of game but they fucked it up.
shame because it was the same developers who brought it to the current gen. so they of all developers should know what they were doing.
foggy like pic related? im just pulling these from google
>dormant canines did well but true crime as a series is now extinct
Bugged but ambitious, why isnt an open world cop game to compete with gta more popular
WHAT THE FUCK
THAT LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER
FUCKING "REMASTERS"
doing a wheelie towards a car with a low hood could launch you pretty far too
There is some mod or other ways to fix the definitive edition to look more lik the original?
I whant to play the standard one but it's no more on steam, how can i play it?
Yea that is one example. I'm too lazy to reinstall both of them on Steam and take comparisons right now, but day time lighting changed too. I just remember the bloom in the Definitive Edition sucking so bad that in daytime it was an eyesore to drive on the highways and through the underpasses.
If you can find the original version of the game, I highly recommend just playing it instead. The aesthetic alone makes it a better and more atmospheric playthrough.
after posting that i noticed that if you look at the picture again you'll notice new/deleted signs and buildings too
Standard with all the story DLCs.
Most of the clothing packs are pretty lame and out of place in the story, like wearing a cop uniform while gangbanging when your character is an undercover cop. They kinda bloat your character's apartment too. I think there's a couple fun outfits like the kung fu ones that give you different moves but most of it isn't worth getting.
you'd have to check. I only played the games on the Xbox consoles because consolefag. a steam article says that there wasn't any mods online though
well this fucking sucks
I just bought it, but didn't think it would be that bad
it's still a fun game at least
if i can find a day comparison i'll post it
still searching but here's another lighting comparisson
