There was a time when a certain impressionable demographic of gamers would put up with kind of "game that does 100 things, but none of them well" game that Jak 2 is and even think it's good. Personally I can't stand it and think those games are best left in the past. This seems to be common with PS2 gamers in particular since they were often left with lesser experiences in certain genres than gamers with an Xbox(FPS) or Nintendo(Action/Adventure). Then again they had Ratchet and Clank which is actually a good game so fuck knows what anyone sees in Jak II.

Aside from that the humor of the game is like something a 10 year old might find funny and the character design of Jak in particular is extremely irritating. Good thing he's the player character and you have to see him at all times.

I never played Jak growing up but whenever I saw it in gaming magazines, I always wondered why the fuck they made it become so dark and edgy. It was like Shadow the Hedgehog before Shadow the Hedgehog, except Naughty Dog isn't as hilariously incompetent as Sonic Team so they didn't make an actual bad game.
