This is my first ever Crash game and I'm loving it so far. The driving's a lot more challenging and rewarding than in MK8 and despite literally knowing fuck all about Crash besides using Oney's playthroughs as background noise, the cast is really entertaining.

I'm particularly partial to Ripper Roo, love this crazy little guy.

I'll be honest, the UTF mechanic makes me not enjoy online play. It creates such a huge speed difference between people. If you lose the flame, you'll just have to go half speed for the rest of the lap, and whoever manages to keep it alive will get massively ahead. And it's not just down to skill either, because sometimes you just get hit with a weapon, and then you're just slow until you get to the turbo pad again while someone else is going twice your speed indefinitely

I'm pretty sure the slower group is having more fun going at a more relaxed pace together and taking turns bombing each other, than I am having either driving in first by myself, or trying to hopelessly chase down first place by myself. Someone put it well in the previous thread, it's just time trial where you get randomly blown up. And the online play was the main thing I was excited for. What a shame

I reverse over the finish line all the time while honking coming first all the time just as 2nd approaches the final straight.

I love the mechanic but it's terrible with the non serious competitive nature of kart racing. I think there should be a more competitive mode with exclusive items. Like perhaps an item that steals your opponent's reserves or an item that instantly gives you blue flame. Basically mostly items that relate to speed only. Perhaps a time freeze clock that stops your opponent completely but when they unfreeze they're back to whatever speed they were at instead of falling down a pit. I feel like this is more fair and race oriented.

I got 100% in two days in my blind playthrough, medium difficulty. 16 relics, 20 tokens, 16 trophies, 4 gems, 5 bosses including final boss (final boss has to be re-battled if you beat him without all the mentioned items above).

Get acclimated to the game with a balance character. Crash and Cortex are the ones unlocked from the start. Play Acceleration characters like Coco or N. Gin when you're feeling a little more confident. Speed characters like Tiny or Dingodile should only be played once you have a good grasp on the game. Play Polar or Pura first if you're truly a racing game brainlet.

Stop playing online for a bit, there's actually a good amount of features in the game that you can use to help explore the mechanics a bit better.

For instance boosts being much stronger when held longer before backfiring, or chain boosting over a turbo pad to get sacred fire (this is the ONLY way to maintain it)
