Both are top tier and the game would have been a 9/10 for me if all the 9s parts were removed. Not even cos muh waifus but his gameplay was absolute dogshit and made me drop the game for a few days with how boring he was. Rushed his parts as fast as I could to get back to the actual fun gameplay.

Yes. The side quests can not only flesh out the world and its lore, but also open up entire quest lines with their own sub-plots.

The side quests are either the best pieces of writing in the entire game or bland fetch quests. there is no in between. It's a flip of the coin everytime

I just fucking love the insane detail the put on 2B's animations, like, at least 40% of their budget went into her design, the way she perfectly sways her hips, the sound of her heels on every material, the way her dress gets torn and wet, even some of her animations that most people will never see like how she composes herself after an attack or how the slowly bobs around her legs when stopping for a bit according to the terrain

I'd recommend doing side-quests as you can but there are one or two very difficult ones that are much easier if you wait to do them during Route B.

There are timelines, character novellas, the drama CD, a prequel manga for Drakengard 3 that I liked more than Drakengard 3, etc.

In Automata's case I think it's nice for fleshing out a few of the character backstory motivations, but I wouldn't say it's vital to understanding the main game. It was pretty important for understanding a lot of the lore behind the fire Nier though.
