One of my favorite moments in JRPG history happens in Chrono Trigger. You drop Robo, I believe to help a farm or something, and then travel who knows how many years into the future to find out it has become a lush place, and you need to reactivate Robo (I believe).

What I really love about this is that, to you, it seems an instant has gone by, whereas it has been centuries for Robo. It's not like Back to the Future hasn't already done this (Marty travelling to the future only for his future self to travel back to the past and meet the Doc less than a minute apart), but Robo is cute.

I had to look up the details about this quest, and it appears to be none other than so good call user.

This always stuck with me as well, your robo buddy just sticking out couple of eons, plating a forrest by himself an you picking him in a flash like a second later.

It's Suikoden 2 for me though although I can't really pick one point, the battle with Luca, Or you facing off with Jowy that's been building up from the start, only to have Nanami guarding you both, and the 2 of you instantly uniting to avenge Nanami, that's just awesome writing.
Not to mention the sort of hidden ending where you can just run away (and see the consequences of that).
