Pathfinder is a terrible system and turning it into a video game doesn't really do anything to improve it.
It's the only good game with RTWP combat but it would still be much better if it was turn based.
pathfinder isn't so bad
is it true you can start fucking the orc cucks open relationship GF, make her exclusive with you, and get him asshurt?
might buy if possible
still waiting to play it but looks damn good
Is the turn based mod any good?
not fun to play and not nearly enough classes/races
There's a mod that does that. Haven't run into any issues using it yet.
Great to mess about with build ideas but the writing, locations and enemies are all pretty ass
Getting them to break up is good for them, they are clearly unhappy together.
Harrim is best boy.
You can. He even gives his life to save her while she carries on fucking you. Bretty good.
Pathfinder is a bloated system but if you've played any 3.5 game (NWN...) you'll be familiar.
That being said, the game is a this-isn't-supposed-to-be-fun-but-somehow is game. Basically it's long and generic (generic companions, kitchen sink fantasy world) but hits all the sweet spots and really drives home how any CRPG developer could pull this off if they weren't so pants on head retarded and kept trying to reinvent the wheel.
That doesn't mean that innovation is bad it's just that other attempts have been. PF:KM took the BG formula and did it well just not as inspired but modernized to a degree.
Cringe level character writing, yet characters react to a lot of your choices and to one another which is pleasant
More choice and consequence than I've seen in any other rpg. Game felt fresh from start to finish (100+ hours).
Not of fan of RTwP combat.
Also get the turn based mod and turn enemy animation speed up to 1.5 or 2.0 in the options. Improves the game a lot and you can see how many abilities are really convoluted in rtwp to use but smooth and effective in TB.
anything made on unity engine=shit
tempting, but the tsundere paladin might also win my cock
>That being said, the game is a this-isn't-supposed-to-be-fun-but-somehow is game. Exactly this.
>get the turn based mod
holy shit there's a turn based mod?
The best part is it being generic. I´m tired of rpgs making me the chosen one destined to save the world, the heir of a super muscle wizard that was born with even more power than him or whatever those snowflake characters are. Being just a dude fightning monsters and adventuring, at most saving a city from a not-apocalyptic enemy is perfect
Since this is the only crpg thread up, where the fuck is my room in the Temple of Helm in BG2? I figured I'd at least get a chest with this "stronghold" system but I can't find shit.
>holy shit there's a turn based mod?
and it's really well done
RTWP combat is shit, but the turn-based mod actually makes it feel like you're playing a game of Pathfinder. My other issue with the game is that some dungeons take fucking days to clear or you need to minmax to get by.
Honestly, feels like I'm playing with a shitty DM who can't balance the enemies or game.
Otherwise, it's pretty decent even with some social justice bullshit thrown in with certain characters.
I wish there was a mod where I could easily change the portrait of my Lawful Good Paladin though to what I originally used in an actual Pathfinder campaign.
>easily change the portrait of my Lawful Good Paladin
You just have to crop and resize the image.
It's only 20 bucks right now, did they un-jank it by now? Seriously considering pulling the trigger, I need muh CRPG fix
Haven't run into any issues in my past 40 hours, but I'm only in chapter 2.
Even when it was a peak jank, it was mostly a case of laying it aside for a few days when you run into a bug wall and trying again after the next update.
yeah pretty much
is the dlc included in the price?
if so then buy it now
Its aight dont bother playing on hard/unfair if you want to have fun. From ewhat ive managed to gather baldurs gate 3 will anal rape it
>cant romance linzi
trash game
>Linzi turns out to be a depraved kinky violent domme in the bedroom like the pervy librarian archetype
i wish
>is the dlc included in the price?
Unfortunately it doesn't seem the case. But I'm willing to drop 50€ on it if it nets me everything, I really wanna give this smaller dev a chance instead of replaying BG2 for the nth time. Is it known if that's all the DLC there is or will they release new ones in the future?
>tfw she ties you up, starts biting your vulnerable body and only rolls 20s
Pretty sure they've moved on to their next project. As for the DLC, I've only experienced the tieflings so far but they are easily the best written and most capable companions in the game.
It's a great game. If you like classic rpg's with deeper systems, to the point of being unessesary, then this is the game for you.
If you have ever wanted to play a pen and paper D&D game, but your beard refuse to grow that far down your neck? then this is the game for you.
Most of the negative opinions you will find on here are from either jaded players who dislike the concept of the game and who have never played it, or people who played it when it came out and hated it for the bugs and could never get over it.
Martials are boring.
To be fair they are boring in most crpgs
Still less boring than martials in BG.
Neutral Good > Lawful Neutral > Lawful Good = Lawfu Evil > Chaotic Neutral > Neutral Evil > Chaotic Evil > True Neutral > nuclear holocaust > Chaotic Good
>look I just don't like independent people OK?
The pacing slows to a crawl after you get your kingdom. The adventures you have to go to outside the keep take a while to get to and don't provide any fun content from a story perspective - the writing is simply too bland so when you get lots of text you feel like you're slogging through Pillars' wall-o-texts, and when there's less text you feel like the story could not be any more basic, to the point where you feel you've played it already.
Roleplaying also feels pretty shit somehow, I don't have any concrete arguments, I just feel like I can't play a certain archetype of character due to limited dialogue choices. I wanted to play an outlaw free-spirited sort of character that isn't necessarily malevolent, but the game manages to make the already limited D&D alignment chart even less expressive by equating that chaotic = evil and lawful = good in at least 70% of the dialogue. Not to say that this would never be the case in any scenario, but the game makes it feel like there's no distinction most of the time, rather than fringe cases, which it implements simply by limiting your dialogue choices. It feels kind of like when you're talking to a character in an RPG that is clearly a mouthpiece for one of the writers, and the player character cannot win an argument simply because the writer provided you with no choice that proves him wrong.
Also very often chaotic is just euphemism for retarded and lawful is just euphemism for authoritharian. The companions are dreadful as well.
Although overall it's actually a somewhat fun game, the aspects in which it fails are the ones most crucial for an RPG.
Lawful Neutral, Chaotic Good, and Neutral Evil are the only non-meme alignments. Don't @ me.
It sucks and it's a terrible game, even the normal setting gives NPCs buffs that are plain ridiculous
>Wild Hunt
>House at the Edge of Fun
> the writing is simply too bland so when you get lots of text you feel like you're slogging through Pillars' wall-o-texts
It's not THAT bad, pillars was WAY WAY worse on the same level with shadowrun hong kong.
Pretty good. Crappy kingdom management though.
7.5/10, definitely worth playing.
haven't played it. My opinion is that it maybe exists
I just use the kingdom management mod to deal with that stuff. Still enjoy the bits of lore it gives you.
I might get it now that I know there is a turn-based mod, I really don't enjoy TBwP. Is there any benefit to buying the Imperial bundle on steam vs the game and season pass separately? The Imperial Bundle seems to cost a fair bit more and as far as I can tell all you get is some mp3's and jpeg's.
Well I didn't mean that the writing is on the exact same level of quality as pillars, but rather that it evoked the same feelings i got when i was playing pillars such as
"Why should I care": why is all this exposition about nations and political intrigue dumped at the start when it's irrelevant to my quest of killing the stag lord (seriously, paragraph after paragraph of worldbuilding that would actually not interest the player character at all at that time, and since there's no emotional investment yet, the player is also disinterested, alas the paragraphs keep going on and on), out of the first 50 paragraphs you read, maybe around 10 will actually talk about the task at hand. The rest talk about politics that don't come into play until many hours later.
"I've seen this before": the stag lord himself and the segment where you learn about the his origins gives serious flashbacks to pillars, evil lord of a small fief, you're talking to (well actually observing) ghosts like the watcher does in the first section of pillars - something traumatic is happening and thats what the ghosts replay for you, big surprise - villain was abused and thats what made him such, a common cliche, the fact that the sound effects and visuals (*whoosh* noises and purple ghosts) look literally exactly the same didn't help either
"These companions are boring": they almost never interact with eachother and very often seem like they have no hard opinions on anything. When they DO voice their opinions on something they really care about, the delivery falls flat and there's just no emotion behind the writing. companions in P:K don't feel like characters - they feel like archetypes of their alignment, avatars of alignment that follow you around the map, without any underlying motivation. right at the beginning they dump 7-8 dialogue branches on that tell their whole story, as if the writers are just covering their bases, and all of this combined makes them feel soulless
>Play 1 hour
>90% of followers are stronk females
>Owner of the mansion is also a stronk female
>Only guys in party is a jew and a generic dwarf
Does this SJW shit stop later or should I quit playing?
You should probably quit
One would expect /you-know-who/ would be happy with that jew parallel. He literally betrays you and plays the villain afterwards. It couldn't have been more on the nose.
Is it deadfire tier bad?
It's just turtles all the way down, what you saw is what keeps happening.
No but you are probably retarded, so you should quit.
>capital city randomly switches back to the Stag Lord's fort
>if i reload and older save it's replaced there too
yeah fuck you game
Based NG chad.
from what i saw (which isn't much because i hit a game breaking bug), it's nothing like Deadfire
Deadfire oozes identity politics out of xir neo-vagina
in this game, the strong barbarian woman starts the
>i'm a strong womyn
talk once and your character immediately shuts her down
Chaotic Good truly is the worst
Ok are there more male companions available in this game? I'd like my party to have no more than 1 female. Can't stand their voices and words haha.
Yeah, you can play full male or full female party, you have enough characters for either way.
Yes, but one of them will have to be an elf, unless you roll a priest.
What elf? Tristian is a human.
Oh, you're right, I just remembered wrong, I last played a while ago and I only remember his very elf-like portrait.
What's a fun class to start with for my first playthrough? I sort of want to be a paladin but fuck sticking to just lawful good the whole time
You can use mod to unlock alignment checks for every alignment if you want.
>What's a fun class to start with for my first playthrough?
Doesn't matter you will restart after few hours anyway.
Cha thundercaller. Take a level of thug and turn into a fantastic crowd controller with a shitton of nukes.
Or vivisector is you want to fuck the shit up.
Or monster tactitian is you want to be a broken summoner.
Or anything with an animal companion.
You can use something from here gog.com
if you not sure what you want some of them really good.
>level 20
>having difficulty with any sort of enemy
>muh dual deadly earth
>muh stinking cloud
>even the normal setting gives NPCs buffs that are plain ridiculous
Stop being literally bad.
The so called stat increases are to make up for your party being 6 instead of 4 and you having absurd ToB tier gear in mid/late game.
If you are playing on Normal and having trouble you literally unironically need to git gud or at least bother learning about the mechanics.
Holy shit the normal nerfs alone help tremendously:
>nerfed crit damage received
>nerfed overall damage received
>1 free death before actually killed
Nevermind the fact you can customize most aspects of the difficulty.
>It sucks and it's a terrible game
It's quite easily the best cRPG since BG2.
Can you play this game co-op? Looking for a good coop rpg to play with the bros
no
Single player only.
I'd enjoy it more if it'd stop crashing all the time since I've reached Trobold jesus christ.
How much RAM do you have?
Can someone whose played a fair bit of it answer some questions for me as I''m still reeling from my numenera / PoE backers remorse?
Are the quests generic fetch quest bullshit with bethesda tier fallout 4 shallow tier story/reasoning/plot/intrigue or is the general vibe more planescape torment hardback edition?
Whats the race/class variety like? Is there any player agency in terms of timed events, specific choices or impact on the story/plot/world?
>not only the tiefling twins have the best romance, they are actually legitimately fun charactrers with cool unique gimmick and a dumbass trio of sidekicks you can give joke quests to
They also seem built for fanservice to be fair.
>click the good aligned one
"I'm so glad you called" in a warm voice
Thundercaller Thug sounds badass, explain more
>>level 20
You mean level 16
>Are the quests generic fetch quest bullshit with bethesda tier fallout 4 shallow tier story/reasoning/plot/intrigue or is the general vibe more planescape torment hardback edition?
There are some fetch quests but they dosen't feel like a drag because they have something behind them, some of them are really good holy fuck dat hunter's letter in silverstep.
She is also a virgin and loves poetry.
And despite the fact her sister is a slut she is a genuinely fun character too.
>You mean level 16
Sweatie, they already increased later chapters xp by a ton since last year
Reaching 20 now is a very real possibility with a party of 6, nevermind there are some new areas early game so even reaching 5 is easy enough before Stag Lord
Whats the race/class variety like?
A FUCKING LOT. And if you drop everything after choosing race and class you can spent 2-3 hours in char creation easily.
I beat the game so none of that matters.
End-game part was weak no matter how you slice it.
Muh dick, it sounds like an actual pathfinder game. Thank ye scholars.
i want my barbarian waifu to step on me
It's better than 5e.
Started with wizard, had 20 spells off the bat, decided to restart and make a ranger with minimal spells. Its not turn based so idk about 20 spells.
This kinda made the game a cakewalk because you can pretty much win evry encounter by spamming buffs and summons before it even starts.
And when the fight starts it pretty much wins itself over the chaos.
You cant at the least still spam AOE de-buffs and AOE spells that only hit enemies but its usually less than scenery because the fight will win itself.
Redpill me on Oracle from Eldritch Arcana mod.
Game has no fetch quests.
All the quests are like the old Baldurs gate quests.
The closest thing it has to them is secret artifact pieces and when you find them all you can forge new gear or get some extra XP.
The full set artifact are not the best in the game so its not mandatory unless you have OCD.
Seconding the Tiefling companion
They're by far the most interesting and well written characters in the game
The biggest fault of Kingmaker is that it does a piss poor job at explaining pathfinder's base mechanics, and a few classes that have some really odd mechanics that it just flat out doesn't tell you about. Thankfully it's based off pathfinder really faithfully and explanations for the tabletop game works just fine for KM
Dazzling Display turns your demoralization into a huge AOE
Thug adds a fear on top of it, and intimidation checks are basically unbeatable with enough focus
Thundercaller has an AOE stun + damage with a fortitude check against stun, with billion uses per day. AND various focus feats affect its DC.
Add to it bard's spell list, and you can basically shit crowd control, buffs or debuffs all day long.
Lawful aliments seam to give the best outcomes during some key points.
Lawful is supposedly the ideal alignment for a ruler.
Paladin is not a bad choice because Charisma and persuasion is this games most important skill and stat.
I honestly recommend any charisma based class.
I am playing fey speaker druid basically a charisma druid.
Animal companions are also super good and make good mid/endgame tanks Leopard and Smilodon are supposedly the best ones.
So i suggest you pick any class that has animal companion.
As for classes in the game Sorcerer Paladin Druid Monk and Slayer do not have permanent story companions to fill those roles so they are a safe bet as the MC.
Companion avatars are so ugly. Any way to change them without breaking the game?
Are you some kind of anime fag.
I see nothing wrong whit them.
I tried playing it several times, but I just couldn't do it. Not fun at all. The party members you get rail-roaded with are all shit and annoying. The combat is pretty fucking weak and basically plays on auto-pilot unless you pick a class that actually has active combat abilities.
By the end of the game hell even mid you get so many abilities that its impossible to manage them all.
You get abilities for spell casters abilities for classes and abilities from items you equip.
Sometimes i even forget i have some abilities because i just have way to much.
Hell Valerie is a bare-bones figther who only tanks and hits and still has at lest 5 activatable item abilities.
>sorcerer gets Animate Dead
>from that point onwards you literally don't need a tank whatsoever
I love this class.
Hell just having 3 spell-casters in your party will keep you busy its good to have some Auto characters so you can focus on using correct spells.
Bouth the Clerics the game gives you also have Animate dead.
Melee figthers are the main source of damage in some encounters so they are not exclusively tanks.
Just started. It seems ok.
I've restarted three times since release desu. I always get bored after solving the monsters popping out of people arc, how far did I get in the game?
Reminder to praise our most holy Lord Erastil and get stagchad companions
>By the end of the game hell even mid you get so many abilities that its impossible to manage them all.
Agreed. But this is there turn based mode shine in full.
Also does everyone love and hate level up their characters? Cause first you can choose some good stuff for character but after that you need to find a good place for that shit on your action bars. It really sometimes feels like mmorpg.
50%
40% maybe.
Possibly less.
what the hell is a kineticist and how do they work
Basically this games version of D&D warlocks.
They have spells that are basically free to use but if you empower they to hit harder or aoe and similar decrees your max HP until the next rest.
Basically they are X-Men people whit elemental super powers.
Spell casting doesn't scale whit any stat but its good to have CON because as started casting stronger spells strips your HP.
Dlc has 2/1 companions who are kinetcst (2 characters who can switch places as an ability basically 2 in one character.)
You can also right click on the basic kinetic balst and your kineticist will use it as a defult action making it so you dotn even have to use weapons.
Althou some builds can empower weapons so you can even make a mealy Kineticist.
