I liked it, it was definitely challenging without the checkpoint, but I enjoyed dodging the bloopers. I also thought the 1-UP placement was quite cheeky, felt like an actual mario level. If anything, you could have made it longer and placed a checkpoint, that way we can see both sides of the desert from the oasis.

Super Hammer/Builder Mario is so great but

it's sort of hard to find a balance between challenging and trying to make a level feel authentic
like, absolutely NAILS the authentic feeling, but all the levels are really easy. I want to make something that is a good challenge, but also feels like a real Mario level

I have some questions about the adventure mode:

>Do you get enough money to upgrade everything by just doing every level just once?
>How many levels are there approx. in the mode?

And another question about the online mode:

Just uploaded a new one that’s by far my most complete feeling level, I worked on it all weekend.

Yeah I completely forgot to add the checkpoint before the water section and just decided to leave it like that to see how people fared on this short course. As for your level I enjoyed it but personally but I think it was a bit on the easy side for me. The koopa dropping pipe was a bit too sudden I think too, not enough warning.

Yeah, I would have made it harder but you can't have a clear condition and a checkpoint flag in the same map. It's very stupid. Since the map is a bit long, I didn't want people to spend such a long time getting all of the coins and then die, and just be frustrated with no checkpoint, so I decided to just make it a bit easy. It's more of a map that's meant to be enjoyed. The koopa dropping pipe never worked the way I wanted it to anyway, I'm pretty sure you can cheese it if you're big mario. Thanks for the feedback!

You'll get a good few hours out of it. Just to do the bare minimum of building all of Peach's castle took me a few hours and I still haven't done everything outside of finishing the castle and unlocking the hidden powerups.

You'll probably get more than enough doing maybe a little over half of all the levels. Levels that are ranked harder give out more money than easier ones too, and you also get to keep coins that you collect in the levels so doing well on a harder mission can net you 400+ coins. Of course, dying makes you lose half your coins too so you can't just cheese things by lots of coins between each death to get 1-ups.
>How many levels are there approx. in the mode?
Around 120, split between the main Toad missions and side stuff from the Mario Maker OCs like Undodog, Yamamura, Soundfrog, etc.

Compared to Mario Maker 1, these sample levels really play around with Mario Maker 2's limits and many take a not-trivial amount of effort to beat though none are outright unfair.

"Snow Spirit Maze"

A long maze/puzzle course in SMB3 style.
Our heroes vacationed to a snowy resort, but to their dismay it seems to be haunted by ghosts! These spirits have turned the buildings innards into mazes.
There are 4 featured rooms:
1) Basic Bitch/Weenie Hut Jr's room
2) Find and stack 5 Trampolines up to a pipe
3) Obligatory escort mission( P-Switch and Key)
4) Find 5 Pink Coins and escape
Watch out most of the rooms are haunted by Seeking Spirits that will kill you. (If you move far enough away they will respawn)
It's long, don't complain, I put in 2 checkpoints in case that you die.

You need to escort the little twister from the start of the stage to a jump near the end. Its mostly gizmos but the twister can make silly things happen if you're in the right place.

The background of the course is useful to guide your way. Mushrooms point you in the general direction you should go. Lampposts indicate a useful item that should be used. Clocks are locations where Trampolines should be used. Fences indicate pits that have ledges on both sides.

Bit Crusade 3 is the sequel to the two full games (1-1 to 8-4) I created within Mario Maker 1, reminiscent of traditional Mario levels. Meant to be played in sequence as an adventure game, starting at the 1-1. There's secrets to find, alternative pathways and other goodies as well. Try to find all 5 Power Pepperonis hidden in each stage to access the super secret bonus room at the end of each level.

Not a BAD level per se but it is kind of annoying. Not bad for testing out gimmicks, but I’d recommend less precision needed when the claws are already moving on rails.

Beat moonlight boss fight. Cool idea for sure, but I felt it was kind of annoying fighting Bowser twice. I bet a horror level in a nighttime ghost house would work great with this idea, though.

Man I really hate that the game doesn't give you level codes on the pause screen when you're in an endless challenge. And that the game doesn't save which levels you've liked.

It just sucks that if I see a level in endless that I like, I have to manually write down the course code when the life count is showing, which is a transitive screen that goes away in half a second.

This was a really neat level but I guarantee you that there will be many deaths at that part where the block pushes the thwomp straight into the lava.

I reallly liked it, very comfy boo level. Although my first run through the end boo section the blue/red blocks were reversed from how they should have been, which made me kill myself, although that might have been my own doing

Use one of the nighttime gimmicks like upside down.
Do something with the ON/OFF switches.
Try something with 3D World, the extra gamemode with dozens of new items and features

I'm probably doing it wrong, but I just place the icons in a checker pattern, and wherever I think the player will jump. Helps save on the limit.

My first level made. I think it's pretty neat, it's a fairly long airship level where you actually go inside the airships. I tried to make what I thought was a decent "boss fight" at the end with Bowser, involving a Thwomp and some blocks. I also added optional shortcuts that are way harder than the actual level, and put in the Hearbeat sound when you find them so you know you're there.
I'm proud of it, but I've had no feedback on it, and last I checked no one has played it so far. I'd love to hear what you think.

Random turns on snake blocks always felt unfair to me, so I made a level where its path is laid out, but your job is to keep up with it. You have to juggle on/off switches, carrying a spring, etc. quickly before the snake blocks are gone.

Why is the story mode so full of impossibilities in the regular game? Extra sub zones, several items, win conditions, special camera control. The story mode should be a great way to give ideas to people for how to make stages, it should use the stage maker itself to do this even. They had to know they were pressing the cheat button on almost half the levels.

They could add things like the weights I suppose, but I don't see why they would hold back extra camera controls and sub zones. The camera stops in several places it shouldn't, non vertical stages frequently go higher than they should, they had more control over where they put the exits.

A lot of people are just terrible I think. I posted a level that isn't difficult at all and very short. It can be completed in less than 20 seconds easily and anyone that is familiar with using a controller and has played Mario games before should have no trouble clearing it yet the clear rate is at 35% last I checked.

Hey in this game do you pick your character for each level or does each level have a character assigned? If I play other people's levels, am I forced to be Mario? I'm a Luigi 4 life kind of guy.

As a shit mario player I agree that it's just around the semi-hard level. I didn't do the secret exit but it's cool to see that. Only problem I had was that the part where the dry bones is on the large seesaw was pretty bullshit since if you don't make it in time you just lose. But if that's intended I guess it's fine

Someone pleaase check out my level. It's called SHOOTING//star. You can't touch the floor, and stars are used as a lose state. You have to spin jump across the area to reach the end on the backs of enemies. I would appreciate it if someone gave me some feedback. It's been over 12 hours and I haven't gotten someone to even try it out once compared to my first level which seemingly gained traction on it's own.

I beat it by going back into the pipe by hitting the switch. Not sure if there's another way. But you probably should have a checkpoint after that pipe. It's probably a lot more difficult than most people would be willing to put up with. Some of it's kind of difficult in a weak way.

Alright guys for my next stage I want to make one around the koopa car.
The problem is, how do I make the stage actually fun? 99% of all koopa car stages seem to be the same kind of "drive back and forth, get your direction changed by springs and occasionally jump over an obstacle".

I liked it user. A bit short, but I like that there are multiple ways to go about it. I think the top side is way too hard compared to the bottom route, which is babby tier easy with no downsides to taking it over the top. Even a few coins would make it more worthwhile, especially if someone gets this in endless.

Koopa Car is seemingly built around a endless runner format.

Maybe have it race another Koopa?

Have you race against a spiny shell or something. Have the shell activate things that get in your way. I don't know how doable that is in the 3D world editor though.

Personally I wouldve preferred to see the stage as not a coin challenge, but since there's plenty of spare coins I didn't mind it that much.

Yes that is the point, it is supposed to be an easy bossfight after a difficult level that can be made harder by altering the arena (adding ice, cannons, icicles, spikes, beat blocks, etc.)

Have I made it?

I'm gonna let you have one of my level ideas for free since I'm working on something different already
Put a red blaster with a shell in it near the start of the level, do the same with the koopa car
Build the entire level around racing against that shell, obviously on different paths so the player can't interfere with it
Use ON/OFF switches with the shell to let the ground collapse below the koopa car if the player is too slow
Throw in some kind of other traps like the shell hitting a ? block that spawns a new obstacle and have the players react quickly or die
If the shell reaches the end of the level first make it unwinnable (or better yet kill the player for being too slow) if the player wins the race have the shell destructed and give him a bunch of coins and one ups and shit

I played it and I gotta say that it was pretty hard. I’m personally not a huge fan of levels like these since they feel tedious but I had enough fun. Also, you should probably know that the level’s easily cheesable with the kameks destroying blocks.

I'm a sucker for theme levels and it was done really well with an intact aesthetic and consistent use of enemies and gizmo's. Puzzle room was also fun.

Only criticism I can give is that it was pretty easy, died once and only because I decided to eat and play at the same time. Also I wish you did more puzzles and you could've done something more with the ending swarm of Moles.

Overall though, good shit. I liked it.

Endless Expert is the right difficulty for me.
I can't do it all, but sometimes I can and it feels really good to get some big coins and 1ups in this mode.

I think something endless does better than 100 man is that coins matter more. When your life count is decreasing you're pretty happy for all the big coinage you can find.

I've also seen levels that require jumping on a springboard after throwing it. Thankfully super expert contains most of this stuff.

I have been on the fence about the bowser jrs but I wanted something brutal and they are not that hard with charge shots. You can also fly underneath which makes the top one jump down and there fireballs way easier to doge.

Only played SnowCity so far but I really liked it.
