I was an autist spending an eternity getting the highest gladiator rank in random arenas.

I usually played unconventional builds that made other people angry, like hammer necromancer, spear warrior, smite monk, HH warrior, ritualist healer, dervish healer etc.

Nah I'm serious. Instead of just giving you just a speed boost they all haver their own gimmick for traversal. Also, they are nicely animated so steering to the left or right feels good.

I have Prophecies and Factions. Is there any difference between buying the two remaining expansions separately instead of the Complete Collection? Can I even buy the Complete Collection with an existing account? Anything else worth buying (there appear to be mission packs)? Also, does the store look broken for anyone else? I got a character to 20 in pre-searing but it was after they added in the vanguard quests.

Rit with 15k Kurzick armor was my main go-to class. I remember doing 133hp runs before they nerfed the elite. Great fucking times.

Survivor was never particularly hard to get

Funny thing about survivor is that it's a title that you don't get by not dying to 20, it's just a title you get for earning a bunch of xp without dying. So you can still reach 20 having died, and still try to obtain it.

Balance was always a challenge for gw1, but it didn't fundamentally ruin the game for anyone. Millions still played and enjoyed it.

And its not like it was horribly unbalanced like vanilla WoW.

Mesmers and Necros, add in a rit or smiting monk. That's pretty much the standard meta build. You can run Discordway or not.

I loved gw1 as a kid but these threads always make me suspicious of anet. gw1 threads get made repeatedly when it goes on sale. gw2 threads get made repeatedly when gw2 goes on sale. It honestly makes me suspect anet of being stupid enough to setup shills on Yea Forums.

Balance was all over the place but I didn't really think it's as bad as that other user is suggesting. There's only small periods of time where something really bullshit existed in pvp, or people did really gimmicky team builds, but overall it was good and constantly balance passes helped move the meta around so it didn't stay stale with the same builds. If some dev team was still actively balancing skills in pvp, I'd go back to playing it just because it would be nice for a meta shift.

Also I thought healers were done really well in this game, resource management and such was handled in such a way that monks were powerful at healing but still could be shut down, and energy wasn't limitless, although there was good play around e-denial tactics with weapon swapping. More or less it's way better than what modern wow arena has with their healers being so fucking overpowered that they don't lose mana at all and you literally have to wait until far enough into the match that a mechanic kicks in that slowly starts to nerf heals for you to even have a chance at ending the match.

Man, christmas events in GW1 just make me depressed now. You go to the snowball arenas and no one else is there. You go to Ascalon and there are decorations which no one has looked at in years.

You seem to be trying to argue they wouldn't market the sales and yet they have it plastered on their website in a news post. They are making efforts for it.

Selling sparkly shit on the gem store is basically their only occupation now that season 4 is over.

the weapons being tied to skills thing was cool though, weapon swapping on the fly made for more fluid combat and there were lots of skills in GW1 that you could slot in but not even use without the right weapon being equipped.
That one was a completely sensible change that actually made the game better.

Now tying half your skills to weapons instead of just a few...less good.

RANGER

I played the campaigns as a ranger and I honestly feel rangers are one of the worst classes for pve. Everything they do other classes do better. On the bright side, they are fun as hell in pvp. I did eventually find a build that is insanely good for pve, but it requires ebon battle standard so I wouldn't recommend ranger unless you are ready to grind for that max secret agent title.

If I were to do the campaigns over again I would probably pick either monk or assassin. Assassin is probably the best class to play in pve because shadowform allows you to solo dungeons. Whereas, monks are fun and useful in both pve and pvp.

Elementalist will always have a special place in my heart. He was my first character and even if he's not optimal for hard mode content, I still play him all the time.

Started as war then watched some gw, my cam was following a ranger flagger, saw the animation for cripshot and those fucking movements and I just knew I had to be a ranger. It grew more and more as we headed closer to gw2's release. I still remember the hype...
