No

I WROTE THE WORDS TO THIS SONG ON THE BACK OF A PHOTOGRAPH

BEHIND YOUR BACK IT GOES

It wasn't just the skating genre. It was the extreme sports genre. Kids nowadays don't find cars, skating or sports in general cool so it isn't profitable anymore.

it was a fad
no

Yeah once you could do 5 minute combos in TH3 that was kinda dumb and the beginning of the end.

There's a returning skater kid scene though. At least where I live

just play thug pro

Activision killed it by pushing yearly THPS titles that eventually lost steam and fell off due to developer fatigue and lack of innovation.

Then EA revitalized it and killed it again with skate. skate was a fresh new take on the skateboard sport genre that took Thrasher's style of gameplay and revised it slightly. skate 2 further refined the gameplay, but then EA launched skate 3 too soon after 2, saw that it profited poorly (due to skate 2 having recently come out not too long before), saw that as a decline in interest, and shelved the IP.

In all honestly, I think if Activision invested a small portion of funds into hiring a studio to create a THPS compilation package, it would sell. I'd certainly buy an HD pack that contained THPS1, 2, 3, 4, UG, UG2, AW, P8, and PG. THPS1-3 need to be the PS1 version though. Not the Dreamcast or Xbox versions.

But then again, I think the biggest issue with this wouldn't be putting all the games onto one big HD pack. That would likely be the easy part. The big hurdle would be the licensing needed for the near-thousand tracks contained across all titles.

This
Activision would no doubt go full full on the licenses and the games would not be the same without the soundtrack

I sincerely believe an over the top, unrealistic arcade style snow game like SSX would sell like crazy.

Skating fad died down.

Activision won't even consider it since the IP license was dried up

I don't even believe Activision considers the THPS IP profitable enough to even warrant considering an HD compilation package.

I can fucking hear this

FPBP
skateboard niggers btfo

Nigga you're probably too young to remember how popular, massively successful, and critically acclaimed the THPS games were
They did made THPS HD and it was garbage because it was made by some hack mobile devs
Activision considered THPS to be profitable enough that they rushed THPS 5 as some last effort to cashed in the IP

skating cultured stopped being mainstream and people got burned out on 400 skateboarding games a year

>install THUG on PC
>works enough for me to get GInput going, allowing me to blow through the game in a 4 hour nostalgia storm
>next day, boot game up to fuck around in free skate
>game won't even boot up, error every time

I can't even get THUG2 installed so that I can install that THUG1+2 mod, because the fucking keygens never fucking work.

Shit sucks man.

>fad
>lasted 2 generations
stfu zoomer

Just use THUG PRO bro

One of the best songs in the series

hopefully when skateboarding gets into the Olympics

SKATE 4 WHEN

never?

The kids who play these games are now adults who skateboard instead of drive and loiter outside 7-11

Yeah, it seems there's still a younger skating subculture going on. It's just way smaller.

I KNOW IT'S SMALL BUT MY LAST CALL'S BEEN CALLED A HALF AN HOUR AGO

I KNOW IT'S LATE BUT DO YOU THINK YOU COULD AT LEAST FIX IT FOR ME

The skating fad has always varied depending on where you live. It's always had up and down momentum in the US. It was supremely popular in the 70s / 80s, died a bit, picked up momentum again in the late 90s / 2000s, and has slowed down again.

In the age of digital distractions, it's died down further, especially here in the US. Kids are more consumed by digital media that extreme sports. In 2000 - 2003 I could skate around my neighborhood and almost certainly bump into another group of kids skating around.

Now a days I go for a ride around the neighborhood in my car, and you won't see any kids at all.

>are now adults who skateboard
Yeah all these people in their 30s are now skateboarding

You could argue that part of the reason of why it was popular in the early 00s was because THPS games

man, THUG was so good, just remake it

I was 9 when THPS1 came out, and I got swept up in the skateboard wave. I skated from 9 until I was 16 and stopped because I kept fucking up my wrists.

Neversoft did too good of a job and there was little to improve upon.

Then you realized how fucking big those games are. THPS series was Activision's primary cashcow before Guitar Hero and COD comes along to replace it.

with modern day capabilities there's lots that can be done.

This and Like The Angel were my absolute fucking jam

not that guy but what would you like to change in the mechanics?

I lol'd

not the mechanics but for instance the bull riding level in THPS3 is something wacky you could take to the next level with even more insane ramps and shit

Lol'd at your picture, not your comment

SO HERE I AM HERE I AM HERE I AAAM

fidget spinners are all the rage bro

social media and online videos - kids are too busy w/ that

I'M BACK AT THE CROSSROADS AGAIN

OH LET ME STAND LET ME STAND LET ME STAAAND

ON TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN AGAIN

Without a doubt. If a strong skateboarding game were to release now, it would likely give the sport some light momentum.

best tony hawk game for me.
