Yes.
It's alright. It's exactly as good as it should be as a kikestarter AA homage.
It's undoubtedly a hideous game, though. Probably the biggest problem.
*Halts the entire progress of your game*
its better than MN9 but worse than Hat in Time
lt's a great game. Basically Aria/Dawn of Sorrow. Only issue is some slowdown and sudden freezes but doesn't happen often. Gambler boss fight almost dropped to what felt like 15fps when he pulled out the poker chips. Game looks a bit ugly too. Wish it was 2D but l understand it would have costed more. Don't have the backer stuff. When do l get to fight Iga?
I slightly preferred curse of the moon but I'll freely admit RotN was still surprisingly good. I'd rate it on a similar level to some of the better handheld castlevanias.
It's a shame the presentation is still somewhat inferior to symphony of the night despite how much they borrowed from it, but that says more about SotN than RotN.
>When do l get to fight Iga?
You need the DLC
You fight him in the same room you fought Gebel, just defeat him and then re-enter
He's the hardest boss after not-Alucard tho
You must suck if that happened to you
Yes
There was absolutely nothing that indicated you have to grind shards to progress, grinding basic enemies was never a requirement in IGAvanias except AoS and DoS but at least these games gave you pretty obvious hints about what you have to farm.
It's good on PC.
Not great on Switch.
>go to your installation folder
>look at the exe icon
>says "Alpha Backer Demo"
lmao, how come nobody ever noticed this before shipping the game
I've been enjoying the hell out of it. I'd recommend it if the genre is your thing.
>There was absolutely nothing that indicated you have to grind shards to progress
Literally the very first one I killed dropped the shard needed.
It's an amazing game.
Switch version is unplayable.
Ps4 version has some issues but it's fine
And PC version is the best.
It's better than any Castlevania game in terms of gameplay. It takes basically every system that's been in a Post-SotN game and adds to and improves it.
A sequel will hopefully smooth out the issues with weaker art direction and some missing identity since they won't spend as much time reminding people why the game was made.
It's my GOTY and I'll probably keep coming back to the game for quite some time. I'm working on completing my item and shards list now. Only at 98% map and haven't finished the game because I've been having fun crafting and enhancing shards and shit.
I thought I'd make a compilation of all the enemies in CotM that weren't in RotN. I know some were repurposed into other enemies but I put them in anyway.
It looks pretty rough, it’s buggy as hell, and balance is whack, but yes, it somehow turned out very good regardless. Based Iga.
How about the ones that were in RotN but not in CotM?
I don't think there was any expectation that every enemy in CotM would end up in RotN.
Also, the axe/hammer enemies are arguably in as the Lance armors.
Gotta keep some stuff for the sequel and/or DLC.
after a nightmare run im just waiting for the Zangetsu patch
unfortunately thanks to switch version being shit most of the devs are working on that instead of post-game content
I'm just waiting for the IGA fight to be released on consoles.
Not that user but a lot of others weren't so lucky. I'm a massive advocate for the game but that specific issue was bad design. They should make the soul a 100% drop and add dialog hints at the shop.
for some reason there wasn't a water-level boss
>It takes basically every system that's been in a Post-SotN game and adds to and improves it.
Yeah but there's no dual wielding or shields like in SotN or OoE and the quest system is a lot more inferior to what was in PoR and OoE. Here it's just kill monster X or bring item Y, no unique quest conditions, literally feels like daily tasks in an MMO.
I'm mad as fuck the train boss looks so awful in 3D. In CotM, you can make a distinct shape of it. In 3D looks look a gooish mess
Its pretty good. The 3D actually adds some nice depth to the environment at times, but some of the models and animations are total shit.
On another note, are there any good PC mods? I wish you could disable AA and set custom resolutions; my monitor is 1680x1050 so I'm stuck using 1600x900.
Yeah, it's pretty good
I like it, but it feels a bit short.
>1680x1050
For fuck's sake, upgrade that ancient panel dude. Games have been made for 16:9 since last gen lol.
They are part of a quest to kill 8, and the shard always drops within 8.
I've only played Curse of the Moon but I love it
Miriam top tier waif ftw
Like hell it is good, go play it OP, if you like Castlevania you will like this, the only negative thing it has are the stupif fucking shit people put into it like cringeknight, those fucking awful portraits (they are fucking everywhere) and the worst of all, the fucking pets of some homosexuals as shitty giant monsters, literally fucking why? they look awful and don't match at all holy fucking shit they feel forced as all shit.
But other than those the game is top tier.
I have a history of having shit luck with rng, so I assumed that the first shard was 100%, which would make sense design wise. Is it possible that it's supposed to be, but is bugged for some people?
>add dialog hints at the shop
>how do I learn to swim
>Zangetsu left a note. It says to kill shit in plain sight
>Wish it was 2D but l understand it would have costed more
Joke's on them it was more expensive to make it in 3D because they had no fucking clue how to use Unreal Engine.
I did that quest and I didn't get a shard.
Pet monsters good
I really like Aradia!
How can I play her game
Are there NG+ modes like in three years other Castlevanias?
Outside of the Shield Rod, shields never served much of a purpose in SotN. You have shield abilities but no, no equippable shields. I wouldn't call it a loss, personally.
The two hand/dual wielding I could see maybe being added in a future game but I think the Shortcut system largely handles that, but obviously a second hand opens up special moves/combinations and the like so it's something they could add for even more complexity in a sequel.
Even though I really liked the tower and desert boss room, I still thinking making it 3D was a huge mistake
No, they are shit SHIT!!
Gee I fucking wonder why.
I have a 1600x900 monitor but it doesn't have HDMI support.
Mind you that's fine for my desktop, but I alternate between this and my docked thinkpad which only has displayport and vga support, while my desktop only has hdmi, displayport, and dvi.
tl;dr a displayport->hdmi adapter is the only way for my setup to work without juggling cables.
No they’re CUTE and COOL
Fuck, i forgot the question mark
Yes, there's currently New Game+, Boss Rush and Speed Run Mode, along with three difficulties. You can NG+ into new difficulties as desired.
They'll be adding a lot more down the line as well.
I'm enjoying it so far. Non-dialogue cutscenes are awkward as fuck though.
the one shield they give you is OP and can make zangetsu look like a joke
>no equippable shields
Literally have a weapon called "Shield Weapon".
When the FUCK is someone going to make a 3d model of her to replace either Miriam or the fairy?
>giant cat with horns
>giant floating dog head (with pink bow)
SHIT!!!
At the beginning you fire canons with enemy shards.
Why are there so many people on the Steam forums complaining about how the way to get access to the train is "convoluted"? Are they actually retarded? Can't they fucking read?
>it is undoubtedly a hideous game
This meme needs to die. The game looks fine. Light years ahead of the E3 backer demo
When the FUCK is someone going to release that Miriam nude mod that was teased a fucking DAY after release?
People skip dialogue and expect to be able to progress just fine because every other game they play displays quest objective on the HUD or in the menu that says plainly what to do and where to go.
it also looks a lot better when you reduce the brightness.
The default value is WAY too high.
It's been out.
This has to be the only fucking use for Orbital Wheel. Holy fuck.
it's ok but there's no way it's in the top 5 metroidvanias, it's probably not even in the top 10
>ugly artstyle
>technically poor, game crashed multiple times
>unremarkable ost
>movement only becomes fun during the endgame and post ending
>some unintuitive roadblocks due to poor design
>recycled areas with extremely generic themes that have nothing to do with the castle environment
>entirely trivial difficulty even in hard mode
it's a game that entirely lives on nostalgia and the promise of playing another sotn but it does absolutely nothing toadvance the genre or to distinguish itself from its inspirations
It still would have cost more. 2D is expensive, especially proper pixel art. It also would have made the customization stuff they have in the game nearly impossible.
The tower boss was clearly a misstep. I get what they were going for but they should have mostly just copied the CotM boss in 3D.
The weird thing to me is that they didn't use their design the same way they did in CotM. The whole reason their bodies are lined with teeth is because they combine into one form after the first phase. They never used that in RotN.
To make things worse,
>HIRE 2D SPECIALISTS TO MAKE 3D AND THEN PANIC WHEN THE 2D SPECIALISTS DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING
Why the fuck would you hire Inti to make a 3D game?
diel8
You act like castlevania never had silly enemies
There's like a half dozen nude mods for this game already, pay attention.
I havent tried it but on loverslab they got the links to a couple test versions from that chink modding site
Had to look that up too. I got Silver Bromide and then IMMEDIATELY remember that it's the component needed for the camera and I probably need to make an ID for the train station. So I go back to the shop and take a photo. And then... nothing, still can't board the train.
How the fuck was I supposed to figure out that the fucking librarian is the one in charge of issuing train ID's?!
Not that user but go fuck yourself, the square looks way better than the rectangle for any games other than first person ones.
There are more mods on it's own Nexus mods section.
There is a difference between silly(cute) and silly(reddit)
CotM took a lot of liberties with what they were shown and told of the enemies.
C U T E
Enjoy your black bars retard. Many games are made for 16:9 ONLY and will just letterbox at 16:10 or other oldfag aspect ratios.
Yeah that's not very intuitive, you usually gloss over enemy drops the first time around.
some skills are so shit
and some are just broken like running while spear
Is it shorter than SotN?
>there's a mod out there that removes the stupid backer portraits and replaces them with actual Castllevania artwork
This is a game changer. I have nothing against you people but get the fuck outta my experience.
Are you calling the cute Persephone maids ridiculous? I mean sure is weird to see a maid do kung-fu n' shit but they are not out of place, each time I think about them the melody of the Inner quarters sound inside my head.
>>recycled areas with extremely generic themes that have nothing to do with the castle environment
yeah, why was there a gook magic lab in the middle of England?
>mega.nz
THANK YOU user!
>You remember the X68K game where Persephone freaks out after a hit and turns into a fire-spewing demon
>I have nothing against you people
I do, because some of the pictures are good and fitting. The rest are profile pictures for writers and editors on polygon.
What now maids don't mesh well with castles?
Out of all the retarded enemies you could have picked...
Remember the chinese guy in dawn or aria (idk which one exactly) ?
Remember the chinese zombie from order of ecclesia?
Remember the skeleton who does divekicks?
No prob. I like how Miriam shares her threads with her girlfriend.
>2D is expensive, especially proper pixel art
herp derp
so many people fell for Iga's sweet little lies
Only if you are a pleb and can't into pc.
>ugly artstyle
Agreed, but not a big deal
>technically poor, game crashed multiple times
Never crashed on me after patch, but it really shouldn’t at all
>unremarkable ost
Completely disagree, numerous memorable tracks. On par with previous entries.
>movement only becomes fun during the endgame and post ending
Welcome to metroidvanias, you’s slow and weak early on and get batshit crazy later
>some unintuitive roadblocks due to poor design
Only the water guys, the other ones are just people being idiots/skipping text
>recycled areas with extremely generic themes that have nothing to do with the castle environment
Again, welcome to the genre
>entirely trivial difficulty even in hard mode
Agreed
>it's a game that entirely lives on nostalgia and the promise of playing another sotn but it does absolutely nothing toadvance the genre or to distinguish itself from its inspirations
That was the point, “another Castlevania”. Game doesn’t need to be innovative to be good, it took elements from all it’s predecessors and expanded them, an entirely worthwhile accomplishment.
It got mentioned by Johannes in an obscure conversation that the demon castle is built over the old alchemists' HQ and incorporates many of their old labs and architecture. Guess the alchemists were weeaboos back in the day.
I want playable Dominique and more big bosses like Twin Dragons in next DLC
We mean real 2D graphics, not Newgrounds lookin’ stuff. It’s fine for HK but not CV.
Dumb moron
Should I skip hard mode and go straight for nightmare for NG+?
Dom tells you to talk to a vampire about it
here's a better example
No. New Game+ destroys any hope of challenge in the higher difficulties. Just start a new game named NIGHTMARE instead.
Not only would it affect budget, but it would also put a dent in sales unfortunately. Almost nobody outside Switch owners are willing to spend more than 15-20 dollars on any game that's mostly 2D nowadays.
I didn't mind the backer portraits, I thought it's a fun way to include them.
>Welcome to metroidvanias
fuck off, I know what metroidvanias are like, the obvious point is you get the fun movement options too late
It’s from literal hell it can do whatever it wants
I was actually guilty of this. I don't even remember where I picked up the silver bromide and I mashed through Dominiqque's hint text because "heh I'm too good for hints." Yeah...
Nah. Most fames don’t give you that shit until endgame.
Git gud at divekick cancels anyways
That convo literally never triggered for me. I went back to the shop after defeating the twin dragons, got my picture taken, the train station still wouldn't let me in and Dominique had fuck all to say on the matter, so I had to alt+tab and google this shit.
It would've been pretty simple for them to do.
>Miriam: Hey, Dominique, would you happen to know how to swim? I... never got a chance to learn how.
>Dominique: I'm not surprised. It would be difficult to find time to practice when you have alchemists prodding at you all day long.
>Miriam: You've got that right. But, dwelling on the past won't help me explore beneath the waves... Hmm...
>Dominique: While I've never had the pleasure of seeing it myself, I've heard tale that Zangetsu is quite the powerful swimmer. I'm hardly surprised with legs as strong as his. He did happen to send a message arrow that might pertain to this. 'Beneath the surf, seek the writhing form.' ... A man of few words, as always.
>Miriam: Well, at least it's something to go on... Thanks, Dominique. Here's a few more shards because you like those for totally benevolent reasons.
Okay maybe not that last sentence.
>The castle is called The Hellhold
>Looks like a literal hand reaching up
Was I the only one jokingly hoping that when the castle was destroyed, it would do so by having the left two and right two towers collapse first?
the original bloodstained was very newground lookin' faggit
also, i'd rather have good graphics than "customization" that looks horrible anyway
Partially agreed, but the people who chose to smile or pick a dramatic camera angle are idiots. Those lookout of place. Should have just poses like they were sitting for a portrait.
wait there's a divekick? What the fuck
If the pets had titties people wouldn't complain.
Comes with the double-jump, like it always has since SotN.
cuphead was a huge success on xbox and pc
there's no point in NG+ nightmare, specially if you have unlimited MP glasses
you have to start fresh, it will be a challenge for half of the game, then you'll stop dying of two hits by common enemies
That's not really silly, that's just a stereotypical "hot woman attached to grotesque monster" design.
>the original bloodstained
Are you retarded? That was never how the game was supposed to look, it was just a concept art
That’s an actual problem. I dunno if a bug or poor sequencing.
For me personally, I was overreminded about it. Ran into the gate before Livre ex Machina, Odie mentioned the train and the pass the first time I met him. Later Dom talked about it, all before I got the silver bromide.
Cuphead also has a unique artstyle (i.e. not anime or lonsorandumb calarts)
>git gud
ah, ousted as a souls mongoloid, sasuga
You cannot actually be this retarded
That's nothing, pic related.
>5.5 mil kikestarter game
>half the enemies are palette swapped laziness
>bugman backer pictures
>dumbfuck story
>overhyped graphics
Worth ten bucks at best. Anyone who says otherwise is a backer trying to cope with being conned into a cheap game. Get it form fitboy if you really want to play it.
ok here's my last ditch effort
>unique artstyle
>DUDE OLD CARTOONS LMAO
Yeah, fastest way to move before accelerator is like jump, kick, cancel the landing, jump etc.
but then it shouldn't be a castle, it should be a theme park, then it would make more sense
Not the games fault you didn't try using techniques like Penetrate, Flashing Air Kick and Jinrai
Movement in this game is great since backdash cancels everything and crouch/jump both cancel backdash
Alucard's best movement abilities were input techniques that consumed mana too.
EEEEEEEEEE
OOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You can't. You need to finish Hard first to unlock Nightmare.
Monster Hunter, we’re the OG gitgudders.
Fuck you, that monster design is top notch and one of my favorites of the franchise.
>grotesque and intimidating monster
>cute (although still monstrous) girl, which is who controls the monster.
Capslock and LMAO are not an argument, it's an admission of defeat.
man we were robbed by Iga
that could had been a good game
It has a 2.5D anime girl. That's worth 40 for Yea Forums. That IS the quality of the game to them.
My toaster fucking chugs I can't get a consistent frame rate. Why iga why?
Talk to hell about it, hell likes castles
The castle has a fucking wing on it it doesn’t have to listen to this shit. Stop being mean to the castle.
I got stuck there.
I also didn't think to use the blood steal in the pool of blood. That was just me being dumb.
But the worst was not knowing to go see OD after getting the identification. Why didn't they just make it so all you needed to board the train was the ID? There's no clue at all that you need to go to the library; the only way I finally discovered it was that I just happened to go to the library to swap out books.
*Dodo Bird
*Rare Ghost
*Zero and Mimic
*Tsuchinoko
*Yeti
IGA always likes to sneak in that one silly enemy who looks out-of-place.
My toaster can run it at 60fps and the only place where it goes down is in Valefar's boss fight.
It's a hamfisted way of getting the player to find and interact with O.D.
>>half the enemies are palette swapped laziness
the worst part is the final area, they didn't even bother to give them new skins and/or attacks
they're just upscaled enemies
Honestly, I just thought it was a bug. Like, I have the photo, how come I still can't board the train. Who knew the librarian actually makes an ID from your photo, nobody in the game told me this.
At least the game acknowledged this weird order of getting the ID though, Miriam said "oh hey I already have the photo", so that was that.
Is there a way to get OD's medal without having his shard first ?
A theme park? Damn, you should have kept that idea to yourself, now someone else is going to take it and make the money.
I mean, he's the only inhabitant of the castle that's not hostile to you and you are able to talk to him. Made sense to me to go visit him about shit that Zangetsu did not cover.
I used the topless mod for Miriam and modded the soi paintings out. That made it a little more bearable. Still an absolute fuck you of a game for something made on a 5 and a half million dollar budget.
They were fucking shameless about it. You expect reused enemies in these games but they really, really did it up cheap.
Not normally hostile, anyway.
Yeah and the water boss was cut too. IGA spent all the money on whores.
Also how many reskins of the caves are there? Water caves, lava caves, sand caves, ice caves etc. At least 2 reskins of the lab tileset also.
O.D did say he can make a train pass if you bring him a photo. Not sure how you could miss that obvious clue.
Is Bloodstained on Switch so much worse that I shouldn't even bother? I could buy it on PC but I'd rather play it on my Switch.
You forgot about the hairdresser
Time stop doesn't work on bosses. I just over leveled and spammed Hellhound on NG+ to get his medal. Still had to reload like 10 times to get his RNG just right so that he doesn't ever touch me with his bullshit "teleports behind you" attacks.
I used the air kicks and the dive, there's nothing difficult about them, they're just not fun compared to the endgame abilities
Switch has framerate issues or something I guess. Play it on PC and you can mod it as a bonus.
Eh? It works on almost every boss, even Bael (but not Dominique). I guess O.D. is obviously immune.
It's your call.
a dead rising with metroidvania mechanics would be pretty fun
the game is already ugly and janky on pc/consoles but it's hilariously hideous and broken on switch
unironically looks like an upresed saturn game at times
That's inexcusable.
Maybe it's because I'm playing on Hard but it doesn't work even on the mini-bosses like Revenant or Millionaire's Bane.
It's perfect in every way except the graphics. Probably the biggest Kickstarter success story since Shovel Knight
>muh portability
Switch was a mistake
the switch port is actually a vita port
so a shitty port of a shitty port... there's no way they'll be able to fix it, they need to restart from scratch
Penetrate is literally Accelerator, but acquired a dozen hours earlier.
when switch can run games which are 3D and much better looking like Mario Kart 8 and Super Marko Odyssey at 60fps it's clear they just didn't put any effort into the port
The point is it works on his bullshit "Time stop and spam ice shards at you" attack by stopping the ice shards. I don't see how I can avoid that without Time stop
>perfect in every way
Another zoomie with zero standards.
Duck in a corner + directed shield. Crazy useful shard btw.
Crouch in the corner as soon as you see him starting to pose.
It definitely works on Millionare and Revenant on Hard but not Carpenter for some reason.
It's because the game runs on Unreal 4 and the switch isn't properly equipped to run that engine.
It didn't even support it at launch, they had to patch bullshit into the thing to get it to work.
That's why every U4 game looks like liquid ass on Switch.
Make one for Castlevania 3's enemies compared to SOTN.
I thought the pattern wasn't fixed and that there were no safe zones. I'll try that, tyvm
I played SoTN in '97 but ok
Why is everyone surprised the switch version is downscaled?
carpenter is a badass so he gives no fucks about time
It's down-scaled to really unappealing levels and the performance is still worse.
>game can run on intel family graphics card
>switch can run bethesda's Doom
do the math
Where the fuck do I go after getting laser movement?
The downgraded graphics are the least of its problems. The more-than-halved framerate and added input lag are far worse.
The thing is the bosses in this game weren't really designed with no damage runs in mind, DESPITE the medal mechanic. The game's got those RPG elements and potions, so the devs just figured you'd probably tank through this shit, hence the safe zones on some boss attacks being really fucking tiny. The directed shield shard helps a ton with this problem. Shield Armors in Twin Towers drop it.
>with pink bow
Lies.
>switch can run bethesda's Doom
Which is also heavily downscaled and at much worse performance. Your point
Oh yeah Todd. Did totally forget about him. Not huge on cosmetics.
top of the cathedral, there's a staircase with a mirror on the floor and one on the wall
All that for 101 damage?
It's good but holy fuck does it look ugly. "Improved graphics" my ass.
WHERE'S MY 13 PIECES OF FREE DLC, IGAAAAAAAAAAA
The same type of Stand
it plays like a sotn chinese knock-off which is "fine". too bad it looks absolutely fucking hideous though.
I think Iga might've figured people would play this game more akin to the way I did, where I farmed just about every enemy a little bit when I initially found them, just to find out what they could offer me as a resource. I wanted to know what shards were open to me at any given point in the game and I needed to know who had ingredients for Susie and my own food buffs, so I killed every enemy I found about ten times each before moving on when I first encountered them, because I didn't want to have a problem where I find out hours after the towers that the wolfmen drop wool if I needed that for some upgrade I could craft, or anything else like that. If I had access to wool for hours and there was some dress that would've been good to craft but I didn't know where to get wool simply because I hadn't been thorough with cataloging enemy drops, that would've annoyed me a lot in retrospect, so I was anal and investigated enemies as I found them.
Maybe Iga plays these games himself that way, so he wrongly assumed players were finding every enemy's shard before moving on, meaning he would've thought people would figure it out or he would smirk about how them being lost and not knowing what to do made them explore the castle more and 'get more' out of the game via backtracking everywhere akin to upside-down castle logic.
it used to look much much worse youtube.com
Salvaging the shitty Switch version is more important to him than anything else right now.
we already got new game+, boss rush, speedrun, classic mode level and nightmare
only thing missing is the extra characters and co-op
Dude yeah, remember all those other video games that use that aesthetic like... Skullgirls?
I went into his room, got a book, and then promptly forgot about that faggot. I got grade 9 bunnymorph because I thought that was what you needed to trick the gates and I stumbled back on a whim to trade the book for something else and he said "aren't you well prepared" or someshit and gave me a train pass.
I dunno, I want them to make an actual Valkyrie armor rather than the lazy hackjob they did by changing the name of the Pure armor.
because 2.5d games with more complex graphics like tropical freeze are 1080p and 60fps on switch
*No Roguelike Mode
*No Classic Mode (not the 8-bit area, but the full game redone into a Classicvania)
*No Chaos Mode (implied to be harder than even Nightmare)
Maybe it'll be like Shovel Knight and they'll spend the next decade providing stretch goals
Is Bloodstained for Switch salvageable?
>I got grade 9 bunnymorph because I thought that was what you needed to trick the gates
kek
did the same after that bitch dominique told me that only demons and vampires were able to ride the train
Didn't they say the plan was to have it all out by the end of the Summer, if not the end of the year? The Switch version has pretty much shot the release schedule to hell.
Rate my Miriam
nope
the lazy devs ported their canceled vita port to switch, that's the reason its a complete mess
Gave me a boner
So I got the sword from Zengetsu
but how do use it?
I keep getting game-over but have 2 different endings now?
mod?
user if you actually listen to the very limited dialogue in the game they tell you everything you need.
>Dominique: We can take photographs if you get Silver Bromide.
>Silver Bromide obtained after killed Tower Dragons
>Instinctively go get a picture taken because it's something to do
>Eventually investigate train if I haven't already
>Can't get through gate
>Okay.jpg, wind up talking to Dominique again at some point because you need to see the vendor eventually in your daily duties
>Miriam: "Hey dominique, any idea how to get on the train?"
>Dominique: "No clue, but a strong demon like a vampire might know."
>Me: Oh okay go talk to O.D., got it
>O.D.: I have a train pass but it needs to have your photo on it, not mine. Bring me a photo and I'll modify mine for you.
>Me: Got it right here, let's go
>go board train immediately
It was really easy if you actually payed attention instead of skipping dialogue like you have ADHD.
what weapon are you using
Invert and slash the moon once it turns red.
What was his problem?
I got the medal thanks to your advice. I didn't think it was possible to keep the directed shield going during the timestop, but you actually can.
O.D. is not too difficult to perfect aside from this attack, since you can avoid everything by jumping over his head and flying until he reappaears.
Yeah and it was hitting 28 normally, took that long just to get 4x, pathetic technique.
Soul/10
Pretty sure this was a reference to DoS. There's a portrait in that game that follows you with its eyes.
Ty I was getting really pissed my map was only at 80%
he's a good killer portrait unlike those annoying floating redditors
You don't even need to invert. Just fucking JUMP!
>where I farmed just about every enemy a little bit when I initially found them
I tend to do that either in NG+ or any other subsequent playthrough, and when you consider every other previous game gave you an special item to walk underwater, it's indeed weird that Bloodstained went with just a normal enemy drop as the solution.
I think this raises another problem: you need to write down everything Dominique says, because you never have the chance to see it again. Don't remember the clue? You're SOL.
イイイイイイイ.....
ウウウウウウウウウウ......
TAMASHII NO E O...
Do you think Miriam and Shanoa would be good friends?
All part of her master plan.
Did anyone actually use knives?
Dominique's or Anne's hint triggers are definitely fucked. She either says fuck all, or gives you the hint much later when you no longer need it. Like, you've already done a thing, and she says oh hey Zangetsu just sent an arrow with a note saying how you need to do a thing.
It's even weirder with Anne because she says the thing about Zangetsu telling you to slash the moon and enter the Den of Behemoths even after you've already beaten Gremory and Zangetsu is already gone.
I used it against Bloodless
>friends
I only used Greatswords.
The technique where you throw your knife is pretty cool, it essentially acts like a gun, except you don't need ammo.
shanoa would think miriam is an overdesigned piece of shit with hilariously bad graphiccs
miriams would think shanoa is weak because she consumes mana just to attack like a pleb
I'm glad this game is getting a fair number of mods. Part of me wants to download that OD mod but I also like his ridiculous color scheme. Maybe if we had something that changed most of his color but kept his black hair and rainbow cloak.
Blue Rose is a bitch to craft so I will not craft it and this game is shit because of that.
how2 girl make bayb?
I never had an issue with any of this. It's all really simple hints and you only ever need to remember one or two at a time before you put those hints to use and move on. It wasn't hard to extrapolate "go to the library and kill a boss for double-jump" from 'seek the demon who bounds across the sky in the temple of the written word', or however it was phrased, and that was literally the most cryptic thing she said. Not hard to remember, either. 'Library for double-jump' was in the back of my mind until I found a library-themed environment.
If my face was grafted onto a wall in a hell castle and a qt3.14 like Miriam walked by I’d stare too.
Was Todd inspired by Patches? Even sounds similar.
Don't you mean floating gothic horror paintings?
I really don't like how they didn't upgrade combat etc for modern times. Game wastes your time a ton.
You never heard of Sweeny Todd?
I'm still bitter because the Vita version was cancelled
They have a lot to bond over
Velvet just turns her arm into a dick.
I think you mean floating bishonen anime paintings.
The voice and dialogue resembles Patches so much to me...
That’s not a mod, it’s a cheat code
Where is my lewd Miriam portraits mod?
The only really stupid shit is the Aegis Armor which is hidden in a remote area in Tower of Twin Dragons, and I don't recall seeing a hint for this one
I like this one.
nexusmods.com
Anyone know how moddable this game will be? Would be really cool if level modding were eventually possible.
it'd have ended up like stardew valley in a broken, ignored state
This got me stuck for like 30 minutes, but it all kind of worked out. My biggest complaints would be that I'm playing on the Switch version and it does lag a little bit in some rooms and areas. Other than that though I'm enjoying it.
Cute Miriam
>I never worked on game development, but I know better about expenses and budget than a developer
Okaykid.png
You and both of the other Vita backers
To be fair I find Stardew Valley to be quite good on the Vita. I'm in year 2, and I've only had 1 issue as of yet
Huh?
Why isn't this lewd portrait in yet?
Swap it out for the cat room portrait and let Miriam drink tea while staring at Aradia being molested for all eternity.
you can mod characters and the camera view
>I went into his room, got a book, and then promptly forgot about that faggot.
user there's less than a dozen people you can even fucking talk to in that game.
1.) Kill quest bitch
2.) Farmer
3.) Mourning turn-in quest bitch
4.) CHILD WHO TOTALLY ISN'T THERE TO REPLACE THE SHOPKEEP ONCE SHE TURNS HEEL HONEST DON'T THINK ABOUT WHY SHE HANGS AROUND THE SHOP IT'S SO SUBTLE WOW
5.) Shopkeeper bitch herself
6.) Your best friend and crafting dude alchemist man
7.) Benjamin the Bold
8.) O.D.
9.) Todd
And when you meet O.D. he introduces you to a full system where you can rent items for passive buffs. If you thought he was unimportant then you have autism.
yeh, kinda bullshit
I was not focused on farming shards at the moment
It's a mod though.
nexusmods.com
I got the luck boosting book and never went back because I didn't need anything else.
It's good and I hope Miriam gets another game in the future
So what's the lore behind the cathedral being full of barbers?
You know at this point, they could've not down scaled it at all. They planned originally for it to be on the Vita and the Wii-U.
Meshes and textures at least seem pretty easy since people have made new bodies and stuff for Miriam. I'm hoping it's not long before people get more creative than nude mods but it's early days yet.
Except a better luck-boosting book he offers later on.
Anyone else got problems with a controller on PC? It somehow loses connection and I can't do anything anymore until I restart the game.
Now that would be a good mod, third person mode. Lemme know when it becomes stable.
When I went back on a whim he didn't have the godlike luck book yet. Just slapped the train pass in my hands and sent me on my way.
that looks like dogshit tho
Bad USB cable.
He told me to make sure to return what I borrow, so I checked in with him every few hours to return the luck book and take it back out again. Eventually he let me take out a second book, and then a third. I treated him like the farmer and only checked in on him occasionally, but I did as he asked because I figured there might be a reward, and there was in the form of him offering me multiple books. Funny enough, with the way I was using him he should've never even bothered me in the frozen tomb. I would've happily given it back to him anytime he wanted.
it looks better than what we've got tho
Only absolutely nothing happens if you don't return shit unless you 100% the map and he shows up to kick your ass but he's a puss and you get ZA WARUDO out of it.
Do books get carried over to NG+?
>HELP
HELP
>HELP
HELP
Help a blind nigga out. What room(s) I'm missin'?
I just glanced, but I think one in the desert area.
I never intend to play this game so somebody spoil me please: What's with the scales/jewels all over her body? Also the horns?
This I 100% agree on, considering it seems mandatory for progression through the Invert-heavy section of the game in the Cathedral's rafters and all that. The only way to find the Aegis Plate is being really diligent with Invert right after you unlock it, rushing to areas of the map with unfilled-in ceilings.
Also this is my first Igavania and I unironically figured that using Invert outside would be instadeath as space becomes a bottomless pit like classic Castlevanias are known to have.
>not wanting OD
Dominique will be just another Miriam with restricted shard. Why would you want to play as her anyway?
One is immediately where the cursor is, next to the save room.
she got experimented on as a kid which allows her to use demons
You have missed the room where Benjamim spawns again, under the waterfall. Also to the right of the saveroom northeast of the "Entrance" warp.
I know that now, but I wasn't sure how he worked when I was playing the game. For obvious reasons I assumed not-Alucard was a secret boss and I worried I would piss him off and trigger it while underleveled if I didn't play by the rules of his library.
Hey you can see the anti spike armor location from the top.
they're tattoos in honor of her boyfriend
Show gameplay. Pretty sure DOOM on Switch uses prerendered cutscenes, though I'm not sure.
The scales are pieces of demonic glass growing on her body as she absorbes them for their powers.
The horns are just a fancy hairband.
>What's with the scales/jewels all over her body?
It's glass, they were infused into her body with alchemy and they give her the ability to absorb shards, which are like demon abilities.
>horns
They're not horns, it's just a hat that she likes.
Those kind of look horrible too because of the backgrounds. Don't really give off authentic portrait vibes with them imo.
FUCK METROIDVANIAS AND FUCK ZOOMERS
>Benjamin the Bold
The hero we deserve, but not the one we need right now.
Spank you very much
Horns are an accessory
made a webm showing how to chain the mid-air cancel with the Kung-Fu Shoes
gimme a minute, I'll post a pic
>foot. skull.
YES PLEASE
I like the new mechanic you get in the fire zone
the thing this game is missing is playtesting
2 safe rings+poltergeist soul+max defense items trivializes any difficult enemy at all
you can just stand on top of bosses and wait for them to die, with no level grinding or item farming
here you go
bless u user
nah, you're just trying to defend mirrors and smoke here.
that's a Photoshop concept art, not actual sprites or animation.
you had no idea how it would look like in motion
there is no clear render in the "sprites" and their quality, you and no grantee that lightning would in the desired way in a 2D environment.
everyone defending the initial concept art is missing the point
3D was models were the appropriate solution.
Do the revenant, carpenter and millionaire's bane each give a medal ?
>Proper Igavania
>"Zoomers"
Go back to playing Meme Knight, the real king has returned.
play classicvanias zoomer
Invert is fun, but it's kind of obnoxious to use right when you get it if you want to explore everything and find the Aegis Plate. Invert is a lot better once you can use it solely to walk on the ceiling, with High Jump already crafted so that you can just hit L1 over and over to bound up into the ceiling if you need to get up there. It was annoying trying to chart out the map with only Invert but no High Jump, since you wind up Inverting like 10+ times per room you're trying to investigate, going all the way up and all the way down over and over while canning walls with Detective Eye and shit. It's much better to just have High Jump (infinite jump in actuality) and do the Invert command purely for walking on the ceiling as needed.
Nope.
Boy I beat CV1 when you were a twinkle in your Daddy’s eye
imagine being this gay
>canning walls
scanning walls with Detective Eye, I meant to say
No.
you literally just keep poltergeist soul on all the time and you never have to do anything, the secret walls just burst the second you approach them
that soul should be removed, its 10x better than all other red souls
I'd say it and Hat in Time are on roughly the same tier, but maybe Hat in Time is worth more of a 9/10 while Bloodstained is more of an 8.5/10, especially concerning the crashes I ran into early on PS4 from things like jumping through a platform at the top of a room, hitting a transition screen to the next room, then falling right back through the platform I tried to jump through, having never 'landed' in the next room, so the PS4 freaks the fuck out as it tries to load two rooms at once or something because transition screens between rooms.
It's also what was always planned. That was always billed as concept art and the Kickstarter said it would be 2.5D from day one.
Anyone who thought otherwise didn't actually read the Kickstarter.
Well whats the point of getting them right before the final boss them
Yeah but Detective Eye has a much bigger radius than Welcome Company, so I use that to look for walls.
And what's the last Classicvania to come out? Oh, right, the only other Bloodstained game. Only half the Classic games were ever any good anyway, 2, 4, and X were all garbage.
> Basically Aria/Dawn of Sorrow.
Not saying you are wrong but where are people getting this from? This is hands down the easiest game I've ever played remotely attached to the castlevania name and I'm already OP like mid to late SOTN except only a couple hours in. I know the statement isn't based on difficulty but the game is so easy and encourages you to cheese so much I can't even see it as mechanically similar.
What is this outfit? Future DLC?
To complete your 100% and fight O.D.
Castlevania The Adventure ReBirth.
Running through the castle on God mode to complete your various tasks before NG+.
Probably because they are, in fact, mechanically similar
>OD literally tells you that if humankind has the ability to make photos he'll give you his train pass
>reading literal two dialogue boxes is too hard
The state of gamers nowadays
Curse of the Moon was after Adventure Rebirth, which was itself released a decade ago.
The shard mechanic is nearly identical to souls from AoS/DoS.
>10x better than all red souls
Eh, I really liked Riga Stormaera(?) from the cat demons once it was upgraded. Summon like nine pillars of flame in a row and utterly decimate a room with one button press, where sometimes Welcome Company has you walk into an enemy that you think will die on contact with your paintings, but they don't kill it fast enough so you take the hit on contact with the enemy. Riga Stormera didn't give me that problem, and once I paired it with Teps Orceus I was set for the entire rest of the game. Shoot out a massive firestorm then shoot chain lighting through it to screenclear the entire room, even some things that are off-screen during the cast. Also, Teps Orceus is by far the best shard in the game for dealing with Dullahan Heads and Ghosts if you need to clear them out while platforming or if you're farming Ghosts for alkahests in early game or whatever.
There are people, currently present, in this very thread that didn't:
>know how to get the train pass even though it was mentioned twice
>didn't know how to use Zangetsu's sword, even though it's mentioned thrice
>didn't know why killing Bloodless is essential to progression
>didn't know how to find Gremory
I can forgive the water spray shard and the aegis armor ones since they're not that obvious, but come on
It's the best Metroidvania for some time and is highly replayable due to weapon and equipment changes. I found Hollow Knight to be boring and thought I might be over the genre, but no it was just that being overrated shit.
no one on /vr/ likes metroidvanias.
t. Iga
soul
But that's not an actual Castlevania game, now is it?
Throw Spear is also really good for single target damage. It's like True Arrow as a red soul. Currently I'm running around with it and Teps Oceus to ruin rooms. Still need to get Riga leveled up.
>but where are people getting this from?
The paralel of shards with souls probably. Bloodstained is more or less an amalgam of elements from most Castlevania games post SotN, mainly the one named and the DS ones.
I am with you here, i am speechless on the sheer stupidity of some people, i only went to the steam forums once and i refuse to do it again for my mental sanity sake
Thanks user.
see above on how not to be a retard
he's right tho, HiT is the best kickstarter game yet
It's all we've got user, and it's a good game. If you want something that feels like a Classicvania, it's all that might scratch that itch.
poltergeist sucks in nightmare mode just like most skills
You’re the last person I want to take advice from in that area
>The shorts were already replaced with panties.
What a relief.
Do you really need to sell extra shards? What counts as corruption?
I played it and it felt more like a Mega Man game than Castlevania, but then that's to be expected from IntiCreates as it's really the only kind of game they know how to make.
>Do you really need to sell extra shards?
From my understanding, you don't.
>What counts as corruption?
It's one of those story things that never seeps into gameplay
I haven't messed with Throw Spear much. Does it do anything interesting as you upgrade it, like tossing multiple spears instead akin to upgrading Shovel Knight? And I liked True Arrow, but not as much as Teps Orceus also loops around on itself and can hit the same enemy multiple times, meaning that hitting multiple arrows from True Arrow on the same enemy wasn't special enough for me to have that in the Directional shard slot most of the time.
God, and I thought Heretical Grinder was the broken shard at the start of the game. By the end I had completely left that thing in the dust compared to the raw mobility of shooting out Teps Orceus and Riga Stormaera mid-jump for no momentum loss and no need to plant my feet. If I want to do that I can do it from further with Void Ray or the light version of it that I forget the name of.
It has no mechanical effect
Now what am I missing?
This and getting the anti spike armour. Japs always feel the need to put something obscure puzzle in their metroidvania to halt progress. Super Metroid had the tube needing to be bombed etc
Fuck this would have been cool if it deflected the laser
Just beat it, last few bosses were a little easy even by Igavania standards. Last two areas were clearly rushed as well. Besides that the game is awesome, gonna go back and find whatever room i'm missing. This is the highest map completion I ever had when beating a Igavania the first time. The castle was so much fun to explore.
Outside the last 1/4 of the game being rushed, out of place backer rewards (The fucking yup yup dog enemies and some of the portraits looked so out of place), and maybe the worst plot in a Igavania game I really fucking liked it. Looking forward to a Bloodstained 2 for sure. I do wish this was just a castlevania game though, the plot and lore of castlevania blows Bloodstains away.
>What a relief.
Gays not welcome.
Poltergeist is powerful, but the gold drop they do is not dependant of your shards or luck, and I fear it's the same with enemy drops.
I stopped using it as soon as I realized that.
What? user her dress works much better with panties than those shorts.
For starters you didn't kill the Revenant side-boss
>the game is shit but i like it
why is every shill repeating this narrative?
it doesn't help your case
They’re Bloodless’ stylists. She’s always wanting to look her best, you could even say she is vein.
ANONS
where can I find fiend fang?
where can I find imbued fang?
where can I find flame rounds?
pls and thank you
also Im trying to make blue rose but Eternal blue looks like it stomps it. Is Eternal blue superior?
Switch version is bad, but everything else is ok. The 3D graphics are bad. The fucking stained glass hand monster sucked every molecule of wind out of my sails once I got to it and after beating him I saved and turned the game off.
You're missing the Warhorse Room in the middle of the map for sure
the rest of the castle seems filled out, so maybe try checking for the room I marked with the question mark
or post the whole map if you have that room
Where's this mod? I don't see it on the Nexus.
Here's how it happened for me
>Dominique: We can take photographs if you get Silver Bromide.
>immediately forget about it cause i figure it's just some optional thing i can do.
>Silver Bromide obtained after killed Tower Dragons
>have no idea what to do with it
>Eventually investigate bridge without noticing the train in the background
>Can't get through gate
>don't talk to Dominique cause vendors are for PUSSIES
>get photo taken anyway cause i wanted to give the grandma her fries
>no idea what to do with it
>already visited O.D. before investigating the train and assumed there's nothing to him besides books
>search for a way forward for hours
>eventually just ask in one of these threads
Granted i could've tried talking to Dominique, but i subconciously avoid hint systems
Where's this mod? I don't see it on the Nexus.
where can I find this fella?
Tiz Rozaiin or something. It’s hilariously good but the damage ticks are too slow to be completely broken. It’s really fun to jump through a room with accelerator 360 beam sweeping and just have everything around you melt.
If we're lucky he'll hire some writers for the sequel. This first game was a really solid proof of concept on a mechanical level, and a great time in of itself, but there's a lot of room for improvement and we all know the story's one area that drastically needs it.
>Show off moon demon with Gebel in an early cutscene, she mentions something about how he needs to save his strength for "King Bael"
>Me: Oh okay so yeah that thing is totally manipulating him for its boss, Bael, got it
>Meet titty nun that just fell out of Trinity Blood
>Me: Oh okay you're totally gonna betray me and be the actual boss, got it, I wonder if you and the moon demon are working together or if you're aiming for different and incompatible evil things, I guess we'll see in late game
>FIFTEEN HOURS LATER
>Dominique: God is a shit and I'm in leagues with the moon demon controlling Gebel, I was behind it all along, you totally fell for it didn't you
>Me: Yep big surprise I'm so shocked
The story wasn't 'bad' per se, just very, very basic, tropey, and predictable. I'd appreciate it if they made something more original next time, but for this venture, I get it. Iga was just desperately trying to get away from Konami and prove that he can make a game like that even without them, and he needed to prove that mechanically first and foremost, so the story wasn't as important initially and was just a framework to give Miriam a backstory and some enemies to fight, unlike Castlevania which draws from all sorts of established real world monster stories, biblical lore, and so on.
But those shorts ARE 1800s panties!
garden of silence
you need the warhorse key
>Greatsword has higher attack than Sword
I mean...yeah. I agree in that I'd rather use a Katana than a straight sword so Blue Rose is moot for me but they're two different weapon types that do different things.
>where can I find fiend fang?
Marbas and Wolfman
>where can I find imbued fang?
Millionaire's Bane
>where can I find flame rounds?
Craft them
Also, make sure to abuse Alchemic Bounty so you only need one Fang to craft all your weapons.
It's right there user, topless Miriam it has 7 dress variations. Make sure you have adult stuff enabled.
It looks decent but still is not perfect,. But the panties in cinematics look great compared to the bloomers.
Someone needs to take a screenshot.
I hope they make it around a not Alucard type.
Also when playing OeE you realized how much tight the difficulty and design were in those games.
thanks anons
will do.
If anything, the sequel's story will pretty much be Miriam and the same predictable cliches as this on a larger scale. I'm betting the entire plot for the next game will be a Simon's Quest-styled journey to get all the MacGuffins needed to stop Miriam's shard corruption for good.
Or to find some way to magically decrystalize Gebel with deus ex alchemy solvent.
Maybe. Games are built on iteration so it will be better for sure.
I would prefer another protag. Let's face it Miriam looks great but everybody gay for alucard.
Nah, he's dead. Instead, his ghost will appear to speak to Miriam for plot-reasons.
Ah, I didn't bother actually selecting Topless since I thought that was all it did. I don't want fully lewd but I think her silhouette would be better without the bloomers sticking out. Thanks user.
>I guess O.D. is obviously immune.
His attacks aren't. That still nerfs him to no end.
>He's dead
Magic, user. Death means fuck all in a series where we're shooting demon magic at poltergeists and ghosts frequently.
He just added those new costumes today. It had only the topless at first but people screamed until he made them. He will probably improve them.
The panties look great with the big swords and gun animations.
>Finally find the celeste key
>It's not another boss just an underwhelming reddit meme room
FFFFFFFUCKKKKINGGGG IGAAAAAAAAAA
I don't mind it being predictable but the insane melodrama is so off putting. Go watch the drac fight in SOTN, the little conversation before hand. Short and sweet with punchy dialog. In bloodstained? 10 minutes of shitty anime tier dialog on why titty nun is a bitch
Gebel was doomed to be killed for good the moment he was revealed as a character, and his death is one of the few character moments Miriam actually gets. His whole purpose was to die for Miriam's sake.
I want a not-Alucard like O.D. to become her love interest at best, not the main character, though I think she's more likely to wind up with Johannes or Zangetsu in the long run, if she ever winds up canonically winding up with anyone. Either way, in terms of purely what I want in a playable character, I genuinely like them about equally. I think they both have great designs and fairly fun personalities, albeit in fairly different ways for that last bit.
updated
Miriam x lost boi for the win
I like the scars, they look like they have been sewn up on the Switch because of the aliasing distortion. I dislike how clean they look on PC.
Don't pretend that Iga couldn't contrive him back to life with the snap of his fingers if he wanted, character development be damned if it would make for an emotional and tearful reunion that would make him happy as a writer.
>doesn't even have a secret or anything
The amount of combinations I've tried with those music boxes in desperation...
I am just saying Alucard with his big fucking classy cape is still iconic. And it's been a long time since we got to play as one. Nothing against Miriam.
IGA never did cop-outs like that in Castlevania. When someone died, they DIED, at best continuing on as a ghost and passing away for good when their plot-related purpose was finished (Wind, Albus). Why would he start now?
Circle of Moon or whatever it is called is better.
>vendors are for PUSSIES
>subconsciously avoid hint systems
Your methods of challenging yourself are strange. I understand not wanting to look at a wiki/guide, but in-game hints & tips? Do you close your eyes during loading screens so you can’t see the text? Why are you treating a helpful item vendor like it’s a pay-to-win cash shop?
And on your first playthrough of all things. Is there a method to your madness?
>Im trying to make blue rose but Eternal blue looks like it stomps it. Is Eternal blue superior?
Different types of weapons, user, not everything is about raw damage. Greatswords have slower swings but much bigger arcs and bigger numbers behind their swings, so it's easier to clear rooms with Greatswords on average due to the screen coverage, but regular swords like the Blue Rose swing faster than Greatswords like Eternal Blue, making Blue Rose do more sustained DPS over time in a boss fight than Eternal Blue if you can stay on them and in sword range safely.
Don't think about weapons in terms of pure damage, think about them as alternative hitboxes for different situations, like how I often swap to a whip when I need to hit something low through a floor, or a spear if I want range but I'm not looking to use magic or guns for whatever reason.
Where's mama Schonheidt?
shut up fag that cat enemy made me laugh out loud when I saw it, then I had an ethical crisis about whether to kill it because it was so cute.
>Wish it was 2D but l understand it would have costed more
>it would have costed more
Does 2.5D really cost more than 2D?
Different series, more creative control now that it's a franchise he started instead of one he picked up down the line, different writing staff, very specific circumstances for Gebel's death (this could be some Dr. Stone shit where every petrified person is actually alive and no one actually knows because they've never managed to de-petrify someone and ask), and probably one or two other factors I'm forgetting. Different circumstances, user.
This game is not 2.5D user, it's 3D in a 2D plane, 2.5D is something completely different
Same. It's funny too because I had less trouble with Macaron since it looked less like a real cat then had an issue again with Kamikaze since it also looked more realistic.
P.S. I hope they eventually fix Kamikaze's model in the Archives.
So whens the next DLC/content drop coming?
After the Switch version is fixed.
Console versions don't even have the IGA boss battle yet.
I now have 15 hours in the SWITCH version with 60% of the map done and just got past the part you get to after beating bloodless (spoiler free, bloodless doesn't count everyone knows her by now)
Yes I said SWITCH version.
Ask me whatever you want.
Why?
Dude, everything about Bloodstained is every Castlevania trope he made rolled into one game with the copyrights filed off. There's nothing "creative" about it at all.
You are incorrect. Both are technically viable definitions but 3D models in a 2D plane is the far more common use for the term.
How many crashes?
>Console versions don't even have the IGA boss battle yet.
Really? So they don’t have the Sword Whip too?
Did you try sitting in a chair for a while
Nope.
What are you going to do after you lose all that progress when the updates are out?
No, but when i'm stuck my mind doesn't go "Hm, i should get a hint", i just search areas i've been to again, doesn't help that i the hints i got so far, i didn't need since there were always areas i hadn't explored yet.
Also thinking a bit harder i think i did actually get a hint from her at that point eventually, but getting the silver bromide and seeing the train before getting to her must've messed up the hints and skipped the one for the train, cause i vaguely remember the hint she gave me being that i need to kill the monster that can fit through small gaps, which is absolutely useless, cause it only tells you what the next boss might be like.
And i barely used the shop because the game get's way to easy once you have a decent purple rune, shouldn't have played on normal i guess, but i didn't know at the time.
So not really, i'm just kinda aimless.
Switch version is currently on fire so they've mentioned in backer updates that that's currently the first priority for the team. After that I figure they'll return to doing some general stability and bug-fixing patches for other platforms, like how I had some issues on PS4 with room transitions causing crashes sometimes. After that I assume they'll resume standard development. However, the art team and stuff is likely already working on new content, it's just the coders who are putting out fires, but the finished art assets can be moved on from so the teams like sound design can focus on what they've got to do while the engineers make it all work.
Side question, is there a good way to cheese that fight? He fills the screen with projectiles so getting the medal seems like it'll take some doing.
another user, 100% of the map here
2 crashes, 4 trap in walls (i had to reset anyways), a fugton of lag
Has anything in particular caused you consistently the most crashes? On PS4 for me it was things like room transitions if I jumped up into a ceiling room then fell right back down without landing in the room. Those back to back screen transitions resulted in a few crashes until a patch hit.
basEEEEEEEEEEd and OOOOOOOOOOOOOOpilled
The Switch version being a trainwreck has essentially fucked up the entire release schedule. We'll be lucky to get half the planned DLC by the end of the year.
I don't think you understand what 'creative control' means, user. It's the right to make the decisions as the boss. I didn't imply that it's a creative game.
Why torture yourself?
Except a shard literally stops you with a cutscene.
like them or hate them, the giant cat and doggos are the only original enemies in this game
the rest are just copypasted versions of castelvania monsters
I pirated it on PC and I love it, but I would enjoy it even more on the switch.
So I heard the port is utter shit right now, but they do plan to fix it.
What should I do?
Fuck Miriam is so cute
His creative control mostly amounts to how to redesign CV elements so as to not get sued.
>xbox live just gave out SotN for free*
>but the achievements don't unlock
I can't tell if it's a feature or if it's intentional.
Not that user but you can turn that off.
are you aware most of castlevania enemies are folklore and mythical non-copyrighted creations right
Speaking as someone who honestly wanted to buy this game a second time on Vita back when that platform was also planned, fuck the Switch version on this one, it should've been cut considering the game even has serious lag on PS4. I completely understood why they cut the Vita one and didn't bitch about it even though handheld Bloodstained sounds comfy. Now Switchfag development is stopping up the whole content pipeline for Bloodstained and it sucks.
what does shit taste like, user?
Why would you? It’s cool
This is the problem with modern gamers, too used with the big glowing arrow telling them all they have to do.
This game is fine and always tells you all you need in order to progress.
i don't remember medusa from the greek legends being an annoying floating head or skeletons throwing their own bones at people
that's konami OC
>It's undoubtedly a hideous game, though
Is this a meme? I haven't followed Yea Forums discussion of this game but I played it and the graphics were perfectly fine, nothing spectacular but sure it worked nicely.
So is it bait or just the typical mad bad players complaining about the first non-gameplay thing they come up with so we don't laugh at them and tell them to get gud?
Yep, that's how it is when you're trying to desperately wrest aspects of projects you sweat and bled from away from the IP holders who want you to stop making things people like and make gambling machines for pachinko parlors instead.
But sure, make Iga sound like the bad guy here. Go play the official Castlevania by Konami:
I don't remember skeletons throwing bones can be patented
>skeletons throwing their own bones at people
Clearly you have never dealt with a skeleton
Fellow anons. Where can I find Orichalcum?
>i don't remember medusa from the greek legends being an annoying floating head
nigga
The only two caveats are Water Stream shard and Aegis Armor, since both are needed to progress and there are no hints on how to find either. At least Water Stream is easy enough to find, but most people I've talked to needed to google how to get past spikes in order to even learn about the Aegis Armor.
I only have a switch and I'm constantly travelling.
actually only 1 somehow. must be lucky
Is that how that'll work? Well no matter, I'll just start over and probably sequence break to speed it up.
nice.
Like I said only 1 crash and the rest is just slowdowns like in the water areas, forbidden desert, twin dragon towers.
I agree, I'm just saying some anons may not get that.
The aegis armor is absolute bullshit though
Holy shit I am getting my shit pushed in Order of Eclesia on Hard. I thought It was hard like any other castlevania "hard".
Shit I should go back to normal.
in skyrim skeletons fight you with swords or magic
it might seem simple, but asking yourself "wait, why don't skellies use their own bones instead?" requires a lot of creative effort
I'm having serious Rising Storm flashbacks after Doppelganger fight.
And I gotta say, everything deals a shitton of damage after Hidden Desert. Time to git gud I guess.
I tried a few times to pass the spikes as I got new skills, but ultimately came to the conclusion that just like in SotN, there had to be a Spike Breaker armor of sorts.
I think the issue is that because of the wonky camera effects, you can end up filling the whole map on the towers without realizing that you missed crucial chests.
Order of Ecclesia is pretty fucking hard yean
Kojima's Lord of Shadows > igavanias
OoE is probably the hardest igavania. That and CotM are the only two with proper difficulty curves.
>lol just go talk to OD
it really is
>haven't talked to OD since I realized I was capped at 3 books and had the ones I wanted
>would never have figured out that I need to go back to a much older area to use invert to find a treasure chest that gives you anti-spike armor
>No, but when i'm stuck my mind doesn't go "Hm, i should get a hint", i just search areas i've been to agai
I mean, you have a home base with allies who offer advice at regular intervals, user. I'm kind of baffled that you didn't even try using a waystone and walking around the hub talking to people for all of two minutes before re-scouring every nook and cranny of the castle. Just seems like an inefficient waste of time.
Not much harder than the average IGAvania. The only thing that makes it hard is the brutal amounts of damage enemies due per hit and not any actual effort to make fighting them a challenge.
It's okay on normal that is why I tried a save with hard already unlocked but the jump is ridiculous you get one shot.
Worse than a souls game. Going back to normal it is.
the axe throwing knight in the ice area drops it
I had more fun with curse of darkness than that bootleg god of war.
I've never found myself getting lost in a metroidvania style game so much ever
I can understand the Aegis Armor because it's rewarded by exploration alone. But the Stream is easy to understand, since from the first map you're led to believe that even mook shards can help you with progress (flame cannon) and when confronted with the need to travel underwater and nowhere else to go (you might think there was a boss for that), it leaves you with only 3 enemies accessible underwater that you can extract a shard from.
It's not on the nose, but it requires you to think a bit, instead of just pointing it out.
>get double jump
>explore around
>find out you can jump kick off enemies or candles to reach high places
>end up in the chapel area
>fight Bloodless who is kicking my ass with damage
>eventually learn how not to take damage and medal her
>think my god this game's difficulty went up so much
>telling friend about it who beat the game already
>he said she shouldn't have been that bad if you were able to beat the double dragon boss
>uh what double dragon boss?
>mfw I realized I skipped 3 whole areas and bosses to fight Bloodless
Question.
How much does luck impact drop rates (and specifically crystals drop rate?)
A lot, moreso than in past CV games.
Tell that to all the Universal Studios shit Konami has ripped off to make Castlevania
>Not much harder than the average IGAvania
>only thing that makes it hard is the brutal amounts of damage enemies due per hit
So... its harder?
>going from room to room shredding everything with Teps Oesis
>get to that room
>fire and shred them too
>they give shard
so hard
Not to somebody who actually is able to show some effort in dodging and fighting. The enemies are still as slow and predictable as ever.
I would honestly play a CV that used this Pachislot's art style. I like the horror/sex combination and think it would work well in a vampire focused game.
Also, does anyone know if that sung version of Lost Painting is anywhere?
There are giant rats, though
>using waystones
But anyways, i felt the hints were unnecessary since the ones i got so far were all useless information i would've figured out myself shortly after, and like i said i did actually end up getting a hint, but it somehow skipped the one telling me to visit a vampire.
I want Casltevania back guys...
>struggled with last boss due to only being allowed 5 potions
>take 5 potions and 100 rice balls
>win
>RNG decides you don't get the drop
>No incentive to go back since you figure you'll get the underwater skill soon anyway
I will defend every progression complaint in the game, including Aegis Armor, except this one. It should have been a 100% drop and/or a Shard container.
I have the same kind of fun with Bloodstained. I hope Iga will direct sequels and other games
>oh hey just have the Eye of Horus equipped all game, fuck you, if you don't then you can't find this item because we say so
to be fair with the hints, the game assumes you're going back to talk to her or Dominique frequently either to get items or materials for crafting/cooking
I totally forgot about the red moon in the garden like a dumbass but when I went back to Anne she gave me the hint for it
konami's got you covered friendo
youtube.com
So what you're saying is you have to be more skillful than other IGA games.
So it's harder.
You cannot be serious.
>he opts to walk all the fucking way back to the hub from places like the Towers or Den of Giants.
Hey buddy if you want to literally waste time for zero benefit then that's your prerogative, but I'll pop a hearthstone if I need to sell or craft and I'm out in buttfuck nowhere without a teleport room within a few rooms of me.
What I'm saying is that so long as you know how to move and jump, it's not hard. You're just punished harder for mistakes you shouldn't have any excuse to make.
Fairy.
The incentive is using your brain for a second instead of thinking the game should spell everything out to you like a mobage tutorial.
>Den of Behemoths is in its own pocket dimension
>you just walk from there into the Glacial Hell.
Wait what? I actually didnt mind the ice area in terms of visuals and the idea behind it (9th layer of hell, traitors, blahblahblah) but it was very weird transitioning from a giant garden into ice world.
but it doesn't even take that long even if you have to farm I'm sure
and there's at least 2 other ones in that specific room if you flub up on the first one
>Kojima
You know they just used his name for promotion, right? Everything in that game good or bad was by the Spanish.
If Bloodstained could get some competent developers, I’m okay with this timeline.
youtube.com
does this look like a joke to you?
I'd be really cautious with any sequels
Bloodstained development seems like a frankenstein job of multiple studios coming in to patch things up because the devs can't work UE4 too well
turned out great but I don't think they can do it again unless they change everything
Last area was rushed as shit.
Why no Rondo? They should have included it.
With any luck, IGA learned from this game what to and what not to do when making the sequel.
Bloodstained is basically Castlevania in all but name. Just as this user said, they do need better developers though. If that happens then all is good.
The NPCs spout so much shitty exposition and will never repeat the necessary hints sprinkled in there, I skipped them all out of habit and don't regret it even if I got lost a few times as a result.
Its a Mario 3 reference, you baka
They're saving that for Volume 2.
I like the dullahammer heads, knightbro, and anger sword more, so she stopped being used after a while.
It may look better for those who prefer it, but Mirror of Fate gameplay and level design is so clunky and inferior compared to other Castlevania and Bloodstained.
But look at all the money i'm saving on waystones, teleporters are usually closer than you think, in the towers you just have to reach the elevator and take it to the top, and by the time you reach giants den you can get the accelerator to get around even faster.
>metrosexual good dracula
>annoying bullet sponge enemies
>3D environments
and dropped
Was Dom actually in league with Gremory? I figured Gremory was doing her own shit and she was trying to capitalize off it. I didn't get the vibe that she had orchestrated events at all.
Eh, it just sort of is what it is. In all honesty a lot of mid to late game environments come out of nowhere.
>Desert
>Lava Land
>Ice Cave
>Garden of Silence again but we ordered a large this time
And even then, the game didn't even have a single boss in the Underground Waterway. Did they think the Curse of the Moon boss already filled that niche for both games? Makes me wish we had a knockoff of that one Castlevania crab boss, or maybe a ghost pirate skeleton or something.
I also wish they'd made the Secret Sorcery Lab and Underground Sorcery Lab a single area and had the cave areas flow into each other to lead down to it. Splitting them up makes each one feel tiny and it's confusing to remember where things were in each because they're so similar.
holy damn
the combat is shit but the graphics are much better than shitstained, and mirror of fate was for 3ds
Kek. I did this too.
To the point I stopped buying/crafting potions altogether.
Don't tell me you didn't get the HP/MP ups on top of the gate at the entry bridge
To be fair that's par for the course for Igavanias. Everybody loves SotN and 50% of the game was just the first half flipped upside down.
>But look at all the money i'm saving on waystone
>90g every few hours or whatever
>Acceleratoring through a room nets me like 4k gold on average
uh
I'm sure Igarashi is aware that choosing DICO was a mistake. He probably only chose them because they were cheap as fuck, and he wasn't aware of the degree of incompetence. We can only hope that this game's success is enough to get better funds to get a decent developer for a sequel.
I mean i shredded them until they dropped a shard
How do people play this game without seeing what shard or items every new enemy they see gives?
