Hold your game case and count to ten
Feel the Cloud move and then
Pay Azure and Gaikai to stream again
For this is the end
I've drowned and dreamt this moment
So overdue I owe them
Swept away, physical games I've stolen

Let the retail fall
When it crumbles
We will stand tall
Face it all together

We will stand tall
Face it all together

Is the PS5 really going to use the Cloud? Feels weird considering Amazon also had stream services and was a viable competitor to MS.
But hey its Sony, I couldn't give two shits about them
Do you know what Gaikai was? MIcrosoft is providing the infrastructure. A collaboration born in the depths of hell.
Cloud games is where we start
A thousand miles and poles apart
Where mods collide and forum posts are dark
You may have my email, you can take my name
But you'll never have my paywall

PS5 is confirmed to use physical games
so what are you whinging about?
The Sony/Microsoft partnership is the end of physical media. Upcoming gen may very well be the last one with physical media
Where you go I go
What you see I see
I know I'd never be me
Without the security
Of your loving paywalls
Keeping me from default
Put your hand in my hand
And we'll stand
Sony is a hardware company that makes money from physical media
The memo is from 2012

Sony is partnering with MS to delegate their cloud services, that's all. Why the fuck would they want the features of their hardware to be controlled by another company while being so adamant on securing their own ecosystem right now? They don't. The MS partnership is there just to save money on non-important services.
I know it hurts bro. I already past that stage

Who the fuck cares about physical games?
Retail is dead
Sony does, which is why one of the first things they confirmed about the next console was that it will use physical games
The writing has been on the wall since 2012

I'm aware of PS Now for years now, it's a non essential service as fucking nobody uses it
>The writing has been on the wall since 2012
PS Now has a confirmed userbase of just over 700k subscribers
PS4 has almost 100 million consoles sold
Sony will continue to rely on physical media for many years to come

The happening will be televised
GamePass isn't a streaming service, it's download only
PlayStation Now actually added the feature to download games, because no one wanted to stream games
The harder the denial the bigger the tears. They want to kill retail and they'll do it sooner or later.
killing physical media would directly affect the rest of Sony's hardware departments
they have shown no sign of any internal change or downsizing on their hardware development
physical media is not going anywhere
>cutting off profit from third world countries just to chase a cloud meme
Even based Spence said that the cloud is intended to supplement the current model. Not substitute it.
Sony's hardware department is now AMD's job. The downsizing already began this gen
Imagine believing anything Phil says
This, 90%+ gamers are not falling for the new world order agenda of eliminating ownership of products while trying to force continual payment of it
I believe him. You'd also be crazy to be Sony or Microsoft and just sever your profits like that. Most of their markets barely have internet. It makes 0 business sense and you can't prove me wrong.
It already happened
Not even close. Are you retarded?
>socialize the cost
>privatize the profit
It's all in the numbers. If the subscription model brings as much profit with less customers and is more cost effective too, it makes perfect business sense. It's not happening this upcoming gen but with 5G around the corner, next gen may be a very different story.
Does Steam provide physical copies?
Are you paying a subscription on Steam?
Are you getting physical copies with Steam? It already started.
I think you overestimate how ubiquitous usable internet is. The cloud would literally wipe whole continents worth of customers away (For better or worse). The numbers just aren't there and won't be for decades.
I think you underestimate the contempt publishers have for piracy and manufacturers have for development cost. Sony and Microsoft is both of them.

Internet speeds are still slow as fuck in a lot of places in the US and how long have we had internet as a civilization? You can do the math. Also money is money, I'm telling you that a handful of rich people living in countries with good internet won't even come close to recouping lost profits from territories that are completely excluded from the cloud meme.
The console market is at around 200 million consoles. Make it half that and let's say Sony charges $30 for a full year. That's 3 billions right there. 3 billions with no console nor the cost that comes with it. Sony can just keep building it's infrastructure instead of developing a console. That math cannot lie.
Nigger you can't be serious

Yeah, just like VR is gonna take over right?
