With Vanquish you need to play super aggressively. Of course if you're playing on hard mode it's easier said than done.
I've tried TW101 twice and I couldn't wrap my head around the combat system. I don't think Kamiya does a great job with his tutorials.

I still have yet to play Bayo. Word around the campfire is the enemies are wholly more aggressive than any DMC title. Looking forward to it, but DMC5 is too addicting.

My PS4 isn't out for me to check (because my HD Collection copy is for PS3 and I've been playing 1) but I got it down somewhat decently using DKA, Balrog, and Cavaliere if I recall correctly. I definitely remember having a good routine for Floor 30 that used Quad S to delete the Antenora/Judecca group.

I put a month and a half into 5. I'm not a master at it, but that's not from lack of trying. I've got other action games and games in general I want to play and replay as well.

It's more niche and DMC5 is honestly a disappointment. Everybody expected normal enemies to be great and every boss to be Credo tier. The shortcomings killed my motivation to talk about cuhrazy games.

Given that we saw large monster-type bosses from the start I don't think people expected every boss to be the tense 1v1 humanoid fight like that. Even then some of the monster ones are still very good for what they are (Goliath, Artemis, King Cerberus) and Cavaliere Angelo, Urizen 3, and Vergil are all good, enjoyable 1v1 fights.

Also I don't know what you mean about the enemies. They're easily better than 3 or 4's selection, the best since 1's. Furies are a "THAT enemy" but in a good way because of their tells and being built around the parry mechanic, and all of the others except Judeccas are well-designed and fun to fight. Judeccas can be cunts though.

I'm replaying DMC1 at the moment. I also came into this thread because OP started it with new merch that I wanted to get a closer look at even if I'm not a statue kind of guy.

I expected enemies to be better (some of them were pretty fun to fight like sin scissors and scudo Angelo), but I didn't expect every boss to be Credo tier, though what I was disappointed in is the rival boss we got.
