Did you pick up the new Samurai Shodown; if so, how are you liking it? Any hopes for Evo reveals, like the next SC6 or SFV characters?

SC6 is dying and SF5 probably wont get new characters, instead we might grt an announcement for a new game. Why else hasnt capcom released anything for season 4 except Kage
Since I made the thread, I guess I should post.

New Samurai Shodown is great. Honestly having fun with over 50% of the characters in it. Netcode is good if you're wired, too.
Matthew Edwards on WSO said Capcom is making new characters and content for Season 4. He said it's really exciting stuff that';s gonna make a lot of fans happy. Characters are inevitable.
SC6 has another character in its season pass, so that's 100% confirmed, as well.
How do I Menat, friendos? I can't pick between her and Sakura.
Still butthurt that SNK couldnt do a steam simultaneous release, the wait is gonna be killer unless i buy PS+, and fuck that shit
SFV is definitely getting more content. Take this as you will.

Remember to buy Slap City
Not hating, but I picked up T7 and ended up refunding it. Not one single character in its entire roster was appealing to me on a visual design level. Nobody looked cool to me.
I can see the appeal, and I recognize that the game is great, but a game has to have appealing characters to get me to even care. I love a lot of SC characters, so I'll just stick with SC6.
If it'a not for you it's not for you. I really love the character designs personally and think they ooze personality.
Geese is cool, but he's not even a Tekken character.
Conversely, I bought and refunded KOF14, as well, because the only characters I found appealing were Terry, Andy, Benimaru, and Maxima. 4 out of the - what - 50?
Same reason I don't bother with most anime fighters. I just don't care for the characters. Only fighting games I play are SFV, SC6, and the new SamSho, simply because the art style and characters appeal to me personally. I recognize the quality of the games, but they just don't appeal to me at all. I wish I could look past it and judge it on a pure game level, but I can't.

Capcoms gonna show whatever they have left for SFV and that’ll be it. They’ll mention that SF6 is in development for nextgen at Capcom Cup.
Tekken 7 will probably get another DLC character and we will see SCVI last DLC character
The new Guilty Gear will be shown off as a current gen and next gen game just like Xrd was. BBTag will get new stuff and Dragon Ball will at least show Janemba.
Nintendo will stealth drop Hero during Ultimate grand finals and reveal a Smash Direct date like they did last year.

sup. tekken main here. im planning on buying mortal kombat 11 to prep for when ash williams gets released. i saw a video explaining basic inputs like the limbs being front and back was it always like this in mk? very similar to tekken and i like it and how theres a difference between crouching and crouch blocking. any other juicy basics im missing out on?
how important is meter? tekken doesnt have that and im not sure how i'll handle it. i know xray movies are once per match, not round, but i still feel annoyed having to dart my eyes around to look at extra info
im not gonna ask who to main probz scorpion or johnny until ash comes out cause im a simpleton. i will also swear by ash even if he is -z tier, but is the game balanced enough that anyone is viable. i heard liu kang is kinda op and has a fullscreen bicycle kick. are there any specifilly bad one sided match ups? if im getting stomped id love to know if its my fault or the games balance
Nice, welcome to the genre user. Hope you stick around for more then a month.
How can someone have taste this good?
Yeah SamSho is pretty fun, I'm finishing everyone's arcade then I'm diving into the online. I'm excited, last time I tried a fightan was SSFIV and I got bodied hard by some dickass Seth but this time I almost beat a guy online, even landed a smooth dodge against a disarm super.

Sam Sho is fucking awesome, strong system mechanics, heavy focus on neutral. Everything in the game feels deliberate.
The netplay is suffering right now, but the devs have been asking for feedback.
Cool, is this the thread where we pretend we actually play fighting games and not just watch some youtube videos of them after quitting fightcade? I mean, if you guys are up for jerking Third Strike despite only playing it for maybe an hour that's fine.
I am the only person who plays Gigas on this board.

I know it sucks but anything below $150 is trash sadly. I did it and the sticls just feel terrible. I have a rap4 now, a decent stick I got for about $140, and it feels a lot better.
i bought melty blood on steam while it's 80% off. does anyone want to play?

>For almost any less than active fighting game, there active discords out there for people who play it.
I'm sure there are communities for them all but being new and trying to play with someone who's been playing say, SF2 for the last 15 years sounds rough
I don't wanna play the anime gaem
My fan fag idea is that they should bring back Wang's fighting style but he shares a character slot with his grandson named Bang who is only like 11 years old and thus the same body frame as the 100+ year old Wang.
In future games his fighting style could be expanded upon as Bang goes through puberty and goes from a smaller Leo build into a fuck off Feng Wei build.
SF5 honestly isn't as bad as people say it is now after capcom TLC patches. And this is coming from someone who used to HATE sf5 when it first launched but got back into it recently
Just don't get it on PC. Netcode is busted for some reason but is absolutely fine on PS4

No matter what, Street Fighter is going to be my favorite fighting game series no matter how I feel about the current game (SFV is pretty fun right now desu). It has the best wack ass story and the greatest gallery of fighting game characters and everything about its style of gameplay I enjoy to play and watch.
Ken is easily my favorite character.
Waifus I don't know, they change too often
The only thing I'm looking forward to in terms of reveals for EVO is Granblue Versus stuff desu
>Did you pick up the new Samurai Shodown
Yeah, it is pretty good so far. It is so different and more old school than other games on the market. It is neutral focused, but you can play very aggressive when you know what you are doing. The neutral comes when you actually understand the game, instead of like a lot of simpler fighters where your characters are just gimped. Only thing I don't like is jumping seems pretty strong, something about them makes consistently anti airing hard even with a dp. Yesterday's top 8 was a let down as the level of play was so low, basic shit went unpunished. While the game is simple there are a lot of little things people just aren't doing yet. If I see more people not bursting on the last round after a throw I'm going to scream.
Still feel like I'm lacking a main game though. SamSho is good as it feels like something I could just pick up any time I'm bored and have some fun with. But there still isn't a game I really want to dive into.
>Matthew Edwards on WSO said Capcom is making new characters and content for Season 4.
No he didn't, he just said it was really exciting what was coming. Keep in mind this is the company who though Abigail was a good evo reveal. The EVO announcement will likely be 2 or 3 characters with some balance changes. Something they can get away with calling Ultra SFV but ultimately not that significant.
Street Fighter V honestly came a long way from launch dude, a lot of the hate comes from the initial bad experience and press the game got making them look away from the game. The game is honestly fine right now
Ok, I'll be honest, I've only ever heard SF5 is bad but I've never heard why and I've never looked into it
What was wrong with it, and what was fixed?
You'll get people saying stuff like
>Well SFV isn't THAT bad now
>It has come a long way
Ignore these people, the game is still bad and just a really unsatisfying game to play. It is a a game about simplistic rushdown, you'll spend most of your time in the corner of pressuring them in the corner. The online is still horrendous, they've reduced how much free currency you get and they put ads in this full price game. Do not believe the shills, the game is at the point where only the most diehard fans remain who would defend anything it did.
>no other fighting game appeals to me as they all feel like SF knockoffs
You'll fine this isn't very true at all if you actually start diving in. And SF is a series that changes greatly from each instalment.

Hsien-Ko.
Initial frame input buffer was huge (when playing online the game would introduce a lag with input buffers and would cause you to drop combos constantly) but has since been smoothed out.
More diverse character cast vs launch
Balance changes with vtriggers and other frame data means there isn't a truly AWFUL character (Alex was complete garbage tier but now he's really fun to play and someone recently won a tourny with him)
I'm blanking on the details but just look them up. Even someone like DAIGO and smug said the game is more fun now than it has ever been
Yet another retard brainwashed by r/kappa.

>I played more Miyako than Aoko
>I've started playing Last Blade and I like Akari the most.
Also, are people ITT still playing Melty Blood? It's been forever since I played.
>Stubby normals
>Weak projectiles that every character can easily get around
>Vtrigger locks up moves that used to be standard for many characters
>Vskills are either useless or part of a bnb (these build meter for vtrigger)
>>Lack of and bad defensive mechanics
>Crush Counters reward you going unga even after the nerfs
>Removed invincible DPs cause scrubs want to pressure for free
>Lack of variety in playstyles
>"just take the throw" as breaking it is too risky, so you get thrown in the corner 5 times
>Very little creativity in combos
The game was built for streaming, it is all about big comebacks out of no where cause someone throws out something big dumb and risky then activates vtrigger and gets free pressure for a while. The risk reward is fucked in this game as everything is so risky so big dumb moves are favoured. The game lowered the skill ceiling a lot.
Is Tekken 7 good? The only fighting games I've played are SF IV and Guilty Gear, and of those I only love Guilty
>Removed invincible DPs
What? No they didn't
>Lack variety in playstyles / Little creativity in combos

Very, there is a reason why the game keeps growing even after all these years. Not sure if a GG player will love it or not but if it is on sale right now I'd pick it up
this just reads like a netplay warrior youtube post
Tekken7, is it good? It's very good
Tekken7, is it accessible for new players? I hope you're ready to learn because boi it takes quite a while to even get the necessities down like Korean Back Dashing and learning how to tech throws or learning to actually use the Z axis. The game is a endless ceiling of learning

who the hell said kyoshiro was bad?
>What? No they didn't
They did, now you have to spend meter for them cause SFV players can't deal with one of the most basic tools from SF2.
>a few others would like a word with you
I don't know why you just listed different species of apes, but I guess unga bunga is all SFV has. At best your have Menat there, who also goes for rushdown in vtrigger. Even Guiles dash in like crazy, game is trash and there is a reason you /fgg/ posters have started to tear your own general apart.

No trailer for dlc characters at ceo. Wasted my time watching grand finals.
They never announce anything at CEO. EVO and tour finals are where the announcements happen
That's what EVO is for.
CEO was pretty meh this year all around. Tekken was good, but not great and every other game didn't really seem that on form.

I adore the aesthetics, and something about the mechanics strike a chord with me. Also as one of those weirdos who actually enjoys playing solo content, the single player offerings are pretty decent.
>Kilik
No idea why I gravitated towards him, but since I was young I always really liked him and he pretty much influenced my playstyle to this day.
>Bayonetta, if that counts.
If not then Ivy I guess? Idk there's just something about a tall British femdom that gets me going crazy.
Samsho looks awesome, I've never been huge on the recent trend of 99+ hit combos, so going back to a footsies oriented game with big damage really appeals to me. But considering my internet situation i'mma hold off for now. (Also hoping for Cassie sooner rather then later, I really wanna see how they revamp her.)
Funnily Aris was saying SamSho reminded him of SC2 in a few ways. I kind of get where he is coming from
youtube.com
Ooo, consider me interested. I had a suspicion it was similar, but I thought it was just pretty surface level. I've heard nothing but good things about it, so I really wanna give it a spin once I get hooked up through Ethernet.
>I had a suspicion it was similar, but I thought it was just pretty surface level.
Well it kind of is and kind of isn't. The game doesn't play just like a 2D SC, but you can see a lot of the same principles in play. It is nice that you can just hop in and play a character, doesn't feel hard to grasp the basics of anyone outside a few optimisations. So then it becomes about good spacing, use of your defensive options and knowing match up specific stuff. Which is a lot like SC2 really.
I should give SC6 another go, I like it enough but I think the new mechanics it had over 2 just put me off. You already have to learn a good amount about match ups and those things along with longer combos didn't help. Which is weird cause I like all of SamSho's weird meter stuff.
I don't like the new SamSho. Getting punished for hitting my opponent feels aweful. Over half of the cast is straight up bad. I regret buying it day one.
I like SamSho but it feels like really terrible value for money even with the DLC being free right now. The single player is shit, that boss is garbage, the whole presentation just seems really minimal and low budget.
Hmm that still sounds pretty good. It couldn't hurt to at least pick it up on sale.
Yea I think you should honestly, I think the community on XBone is dead, but I could be wrong. They're still kicking on both PS4 and PC. The reversal edge stuff is easy to counter but still obnoxious, and the longer combos do blow, however they're not too hard to pull off so at least there's that. But otherwise the core of the game is pretty much the same, and in some ways the best it's ever been.
>Getting punished for hitting my opponent
There are only a tiny amount of moves where that is the case, and I think it is all top tiers apart from the DP punish wish rage explosion. But that is such a big spend, you do that last round at most and Jubei can just combo into different things to keep safe. I'm fine with tam tam getting punished though as that button is so good anyway, people finding ways to make him think about it more is fine.
>Over half of the cast is straight up bad
It seems to be only Nakoruru, Shiki and Kyoshiro who are seen as straight up bad. Every early tier list or discussion I've seen shows the rest have stuff going on. Also pretty clear that people don't know to deal with basic things yet, it was painful when Tam Tam's super didn't get punished at CEO.
Redownloaded SFV again after two years or so, was shit then and I'll still be shit but I'll be hosting a lobby in the evening - it's 12.46 pm now

Eh SC6's combos are still shorter than anything this gen not named samsho.
RE's animations take too long yeah, but it's significantly less useful in higher levels of play. On the plus side we got lethal hits which are the best mechanic since guard impact.
Combo Breaker did just seem to have more going on. Like they have every game and really celebrate them along with goofy side shit. CEO doesn't really have a good gimmick apart from the ring. But something about every top 8 was off.

I'm in Japan at the moment and I've tried GG rev 2 for the 1st time and ive had a blast playing it. Anyone know how active the player base is for EU Ps4? I Know anime games are usually a ghost town in the EU praying that's not the case with gg
The new Samurai Shodown is great, I wish I had it on ps4 instead of the Xbone, but oh well.
I plat Rev 2 on EU PS4 and it tends to get 150-200 people online in the evening time. It's not enough that you'll be able to play against a wide variety of people, but it's more than enough to be able to play for a while daily.
you could secure the free DLC without owning the game on psn.
because it essentially is.
its mostly just tekken faggot propaganda.
SFV is great.
You don't like at least Heihachi or Kazuya?
Ah that's a pleasant supprise actually thanks user. Yeah I play DOA6 too and finding games there isn't easy too so I'm used waiting awhile for a game amongst a small player base. I've been needing to find a 2D fighter to fill the void SFB left after I dropped it, dbfz and tekken are great but I need one more game to play to satisfy all of my fighting game needs
How can it be a late night fighting game thread when in fact it is late morning?

I wouldn't really look at it that way. It is just a constant factor you will have to deal with whoever you pick. Anyone you pick will have to know their optimal CC combo and it is something the game will reward you for. You can't get away with not having it part of your gameplan. You will at some point need to go unga bunga, some characters just have better heavies for that but all of them want to do so.
So you admit you're making shit up because you hate Tekken.
cammy or ryu dont have good CC buttons.
but thats a weird thing to ask for.

MASTER RAVEN GET DOWN
Tekken 7 is a predictable follow-up to a series that's never aimed particularly high, it may please casual gamers for a day or two but the stagnant ongoing series is definitely in the second tier of fighters way below Capcom or NetherRealm Studios games, and it's seriously getting old and tired. The lack of depth and subtlety and the emphasis on the offensive, rather than the defensive, puts this squarely two notches below the best in the genre, the "who-can-get-their-super-move-off-first" gameplay leaves much to be desired from a serious fighting game player. Like the prequels, Tekken 7 is geared towards casual gamers and anyone who's been exposed to more technical, more dynamic fighting games will quickly pass on tekken. Other top fighters, namely Street Fighter, DoA and MK games have advanced impressively in their latest installments; but the relic that is tekken just can't seem to evolve, furthermore many combos can be done simply by hitting 1-button, and the nearly "instant-kill" rage art moves are just laughably broken. Instead of a supplying a proper fighting engine, matches in T7 seem to rely heavily on "who can get their rage move off first". So many elements of the gameplay don't even require any sort of skill. In my book, slow motion over and over again also gets old very quickly. And in the end, it's more of a novelty or gimmick rather than an actual, thought-out fighting game mechanic. But hey, the casual crowd will be pleased!
If you want something a little more "button-masher-friendly," tekken might be your cup of tea.... Key word, might.
you've probably never tried actually give the game some thought and just mashed your way to teal ranks
Don't bother with that faggot, he's always posting the same pasta everytime Tekken is mentioned or even when it isn't.
its very clunky and all characters are the same.
if you enjoy GG I cant see how you'd like Tekken.
soul calibur MAYBE when it comes to 3D.
The bottom line is that the "competitive" player does NOT want challenge, he wants the OPPOSITE of challenge: he wants to "WIN"; and moreover, he wants to win specifically against a HOMO SAPIENS opponent, NOT because the homo sapiens is a better or a more unpredictable opponent (for he isn't), but because unlike the AI bots, he is the only kind of opponent that CAN FEEL SAD. That is what the "competitive" player's fixation with "winning" (i.e. with the game over screen) betrays: the "competitive" player does not draw his enjoyment so much from his interaction with the game world, but from FORCING A PARTICULAR FRAME OF MIND ON HIS OPPONENT: more specifically the depressive emotion of SADNESS. And thus we arrive at the definition of the "competitive" player:
"Competitive" player
A player who is more interested in making other people sad than in the quality of the game he is playing. He draws his satisfaction, not so much from interaction with the game world, but from the sadness he is causing the other players.
There's no other logically and psychologically consistent way to explain why the "competitive" player acts the way that he does.

I'm buying Guilty Gear Xrd deluxe edition pack. It has all characters I believe. Also the Blaz Blue convection. What am in for? I'm still a scrub but I've been enjoying fighting games with people in my dorm.
>I'm buying Guilty Gear Xrd deluxe edition pack. It has all characters I believe.
Wait a second, I'm checking for you.
You want the one that shows +DLC characters I think.
ASW is so awful with their store page.
People make literal guides to tell others what they have to get.
>Killer Instinct 2013
>Tekken
>Paul Phoenix

I got Samurai Shodown since I've never played the series and it's taking some getting used to. I just want a Cassandra release date for SC6.
For Guilty you want GUILTY GEAR Xrd -REVELATOR- (+DLC Characters) + REV 2 All-in-One (does not include optional DLCs).
The optional DLCs are really optionals, it's system voices and a few paletswap.
A decade after Infinite
Can you blame him?
Can't blame his girlfriend either. Just putting him back in the right track.

>7th sword is overp-
He seems to like it enough, but I don't expect it to be a game he sticks with.

why would you give a shit about max opinion
at least buy plus R while it's 80% off
Zoomers can't form their own opinions
Kek
i like to know everyones opinion, so far it looks like a boomer game since even aris said he likes it under his breath, but twitch chat cant stand it
>so far it looks like a boomer game
>clunky
>all characters are the same
You don't play Tekken
/fgg/ don't play shit, they just complain at people complaining about sfv
yeah, because its clunky and all characters are the same shit.
Tekken is really hype to watch and fun to play, even if hard.
Maybe 3d fighters are the way things should be.
I main Miguel in T7 and Lee in the other Tekkens.
In street fighter I like Sagat and Nash. In Guilty Gear I used Johnny, but the game is hard and the scene is dead so I wont bother to get good. In Soul Calibur I mained Raphael, even with the nerfs.
I love women who fight, so all of them are waifus to me. I have a thing for Darli Dagger right now.
What is the fighting game with more SOUL?
Im between T4 or SF 3rd strike.

Is the EU scene for this game completely nonexistent?
Also is the "Region" for me "Europe", or the specific country I live in?
>or the specific country I live in?
Country you live in, I had that issue too where I wasn't getting anybody because I thought setting it to my region would get all of Europe, but it just got my country where next to nobody plays.
I've been getting matches pretty quick still in the EU
Seething EU federalist globalism supporting scum.
No wonder I haven't been getting anyone. Finland isn't exactly large.
Honestly you might as well set it to all. I've had matches vs US that felt better than the connection in my own country. The netcode is wacky
I did, and got a match instantly so all's good.
Favourite one is Guilty Gear Xrd, more specifically Rev 2 because Bedman can do a lot of different shit with aerial Deja Vu
Favourite series is also Guilty Gear
Favourite character gotta be Relius from Blazblue, though. His style fit me so well I never had the need to swap between characters to find a main
Ramlethal is my wife and also the other character I play in Xrd
>favorite game
Probably Melty Blood or VSAV, I play UNIST the most right now though.
>favorite series
I like every entry of Street Fighter, I guess.
>favorite character
My favorite to play is probably Lilith right now. If I was still netplaying Melty I would've said C-Satsuki.

Ram cause reasons.
Holding off on SamSho until PC/Switch release because i hate paying for online and my only fg partner only has those. I hope they're alive when they come out, but i know better. SC6 character reveal will be Cassandra, but I'm more curious if they'll even do a season 2, SC6 doesn't seem to be doing too well. Hope Tekken 7 and BBTag get new season, only other games I'm playing atm.
don't worry bro. in a few years, we'll be playing her route in the tsukihime remake haha
;-;
I've been a Satsukifag for a literal majority of my life I'm young as fuck, and I've come to terms with it never happening.
The remake got announced over a decade ago.
