Steam doesn't sell games they sell digital files

tried it, pretty boring

I'm 99% sure this screenshot is the entire selling point of the game and it happens in like the first 20 minutes anyway

I finished it recently, pretty short but overall polished with good controls and nice story.
Difficulty is ok, can be a bit too harsh at the start even on Normal.
I'd say it's too linear to call it metroidvania tho.

Pepsi does not sell pop they sell liquid

Yeah whatever zoomer faggot digital files don't count

why do you need to start some shit?
Can't you just talk about videogames?
Do you even play ?

Yeah I play, but not digital files

kill yourself

Whatever you say kiddo

>I need a useless piece of plastic wasting space on my shelf to enjoy my 1s and 0s

Heroine's Quest: Herald of Ragnarok - (this one is actually free) I recommend it it's very nice if you like this style of game

Skaulfold: Into the fray - 2D shooter game with isometric view, very cheap, decent challenge and fun game to pass the time

Dungeon Warfare - for sure one of the best tower defense game I've played yet, very cheap too

Attached: heraldragnarok.jpg (960x600, 493K)

I have this on my wishlist. How long is it?

>FunCo doesn't sell games, they sell disposable hard drives

hltb puts it at about 4 hours

Beat it a few months back, don’t agree. Cute game with some really solid bosses. Getting unique items for beating bosses without damage is a neato mechanic, too.

There’s always one

Found a cute rogue like game called yodanji and holy shit is it impossible. It uses item level ups and I dont think I like that. This game would be better if it had exp and respawning enemies. As it is it is brutal. Even in the easy mode. I have yet to find another yokai to use.

Same finished a couple weeks ago.

Short and sweet, though some bosses really felt like they lacked variety. Some felt almost identical finctually speaking.

That said super charming and cute. Was absolutely worth finishing though a little more on certain characters and the plot would have been a nice touch.

Every video game is comprised of digital files dipshit
If you want to shit on Steam, say they sell licences

I also heard higher difficulties has different enemy placement and NG+ on normal is basically like playing on hard.

Is parroting things you heard how you compensate for literally discovering Yea Forums yesterday?

Attached: 1555233997616.png (474x600, 435K)

It's not just plastic, games come in cardboard boxes too
Don't know what FunCo is I'm not European

I've been here since 2006 kiddo

Oh, so you're just developmentally stunted.

>Skaulfold
I bought all 3 games, will start playing them soon starting from Skaylfold. Really interested in Usurper. Also heard 4th game is coming "soon"

Attached: 1101.jpg (1920x1080, 146K)

>Yeah I play
No you don't.

Oops I mistook Funtown for Funko Pops. How did that happen?

I just finished playing some Banjo-Tooie on my tube TV I've had since the early 2000's
I don't buy Funko Pops

Hylics! I dunno if it's on the Steam sale, but it's awesome.

Attached: tumblr_p6capeER8R1qlwqqzo1_640.gif (540x900, 1.71M)

>not digital files
Literally every game is a digital file. You’re just arguing semantics over whether it’s stored on a disc or a company’s server.

>Hylics!
dude what the hell is this

looks just like King's Quest V, neat

I don't understand how you could possibly think a game isn't a digital file. When someone develops a game they are writing code and compiling that into an executable file. That is the game. That is what people want and what people pay for. That is what people spend time making

That's not true, the original Magnavox Odyssey was a purely analog machine. The system had no CPU and the cartridges just contained an analog circuit with no ROM to speak of.

Come the fuck ON

hello charlotte
oneshot

underrail
devil daggers

>468740115

epic bait
you don't deserve a (you)

Its fucking cool that's what it is.

Turn based RPG with incredible artstyle, unique archetypes for characters and some weird enemies. One of the best indie games I've ever played

>underrail
I will never understand this

It's a personal computer game, user.

Around hour I was wandering around in town, then finally decided to start doing quests and got raped by some rats or whatever and quit.

sudden death mode was very fun, i liked the game

Neoverse
It's early access, but I'm having a blast playing it.

Attached: ss_3e955d46561935e8dd6cddb0952973f2062c44b0.1920x1080.jpg (1920x1080, 1.27M)

Looks fun, bought it

looks cool but
>EA game
>cards

I also bought this and fucking love the art style and how surreal this shit is.

Oh shit, I forgot I bought this like a month ago. I just keep fucking playing STS for some reason.

I'll never get the impossible achievement because I don't want to play through the game on hard to unlock impossible mode reeeeeee

I got lost and can't beat it.
I liked Pardoner Fennel and Lubella.

Attached: img_451.jpg (707x565, 79K)

Wrong, you get to see the protag's deliciously animated legs the entire game and you also get to see a womb raider later on

>I got lost

Attached: 1560113900708.gif (200x293, 1.75M)

I'm at royal pinocotheca with the skeletons and flying paintings.
I don't know where to go.

Attached: img_789.png (372x388, 89K)

If you got both last shard and wind thing you can go upgrade your leaf for good ending near the wind mill and pass the foggy gate to proceed

Any games with actual loli fanservice? Like Moero Chronicle, where you get full cunny action with an uncensor patch. Bonus points for games with character creators like Dragon's Dogma.

Attached: gelbooru.com 4659931 1boy 1girl admiral_(kantai_collection) arm_warmers bangs black_ribbon blush bro (991x1400, 153K)

holy shit I wish that was me

I found some laughing skull that did nothing.
I give up.

try asking at

You just didn't explore that area fully.

Not little, but i got sleeping dogs and I'm enjoying it more than gta iv.

Finally got around trying pic related, pretty satisfied.

Art is good - shame they decided to put their ugly mugs on some shrines

Combat was fun an messy - cant tell what the fuck is going on late game

Has one the most fun traversal in memory once you corrupt your abilities its super tight and fast

I don't think the horde mechanic is good but it its unusual enough on games that it made it feel fresh and interesting

Attached: 681bbcce4c30612fb8f7501cda5e25de_original.png (700x394, 226K)

Do you recommend it?

Yes it's a fun game, not overly grindy unless you want everything and it lasted me 11h on my first go

The infinitely spawning horde mechanic is the only thing preventing me from enjoying this game.
Does it get any better later on or does it stay the same most of the way?

Not sure what qualifies as "neat little games" but got the Dusk + Amid Evil bundle, completed Dusk, it's incredibly fun
Going through Amid Evil, and it's also really fun, and while being a similar style of game, plays extremely differently

Attached: slap.webm (900x506, 2.19M)

Is Sega Bass Fishing good? Does it fall into the typical vidya fishing mechanic trap of boring waiting?

There are only a few areas that have endless spawning, you usually go around paying attention to the rooms you are in and keep in mind the ones you where before and if you hear the alarm/gong/bell it means you better move to a room whit few enviorioments hazzards.
As if it gets better it does in the sense that you will be wiping the floor with them in just a few moments later on

Momodora is a decent little game.
The opening level doesn't do a good job of showing it off, once the world opens up it becomes much better.

Bough Skyforce anniversary and it's pretty fucking good. I wish there was more than 1 ship tho, I heard reloaded version has more variety.
I like how they went from classic arcade mode where you have to proceed without mistakes to replaying levels on different difficulty to get achievements and currency for upgrades.

Attached: 13gsd.jpg (1920x1080, 1.17M)

It is a cool little game indeed

Attached: dodges.webm (720x405, 2.57M)

It is decent just puting this to clarify that by the time the world opens up the game is basically over, its really short but still id say go for it

I expected it to be no-hit run, disappointing webm

>by the time the world opens up the game is basically over
Not really. You gain access to multiple areas by like a quarter or a third of the way in. You have a bad memory.

please try jets n guns 2

Looks cool, how is the frequency of updates and what about the first game?

I could've easily cut right before I got hit
Sorry that my randomly posted webm does not satisfy your needs, user

I just checked, my save file for the only run i did of this has the true end with a 97% map completion an is at 5h played, 5 is not that long thats why im saying that by the time you see the map open up you are already done. Not shiting on the game i liked it it just let me whit a "Thats it? ok then"

Recommending Heart & Slash. It's a hack and slash game with permadeath where you play as a TV head robro, adding shit to the item pool through achievements, and you can upgrade stuff and even yourself with currency from defeated enemies which you also get to keep between runs. It's mostly straightforward but there's a sidequest leading to the true ending which you progress in with each run.

You're wrong, there is only 1 unavailable area since the start, and 5h save file only says about the length of the game on normal difficulty.

I've expected something better (aiming feels off), but it's still a good game.

Attached: brigador.jpg (1920x1071, 870K)

around 2 months per update now
the first game? solid 10/10 for me. over 1 decade later and im still humming some tracks from the game.

Beware: game is for true doom murderheads ONLY

Attached: 22ef95ffcfe0bdcdd664fcacaffe15fd71475c64910e264614f4fb7de6f9d138_product_card_v2_mobile_slider_639.j (639x361, 45K)

Picked up Zombie Night Terror for 2 bucks and enjoyed it a lot. Like Zombie Lemmings with a good soundtrack.

Warning though, the last story chapter is tedious and deliberately unfair thanks to the devs patching out every solution but the very specific one they had in mind. Very unfun and nearly killed the game for me.

Attached: fast.jpg (1920x1080, 251K)

Can anyone recommend me a game with a lot of cool loot to find? Something similar to Dark Souls where your weapons have different movesets and status effects that affect your playstyle as opposed to just better stats akin to a traditional RPG.

Attached: 1560571050345.jpg (1438x1415, 125K)

I want someone to break into this nigga house and beat his head into his fuckin keyboard

Neat beat-em-up from a Chinese studio trying their hand at a Vanillaware style game, with art actually being decent and not the typical flash animated body parts, but far closer to the Vanillaware detail than usual

Very short (like 4 hours short) but has replay value in bossrush and hard mode.
Doesn't overstay its welcome in any regard, provides just the right amount of each gimmick it introduces and lets you have some fun with the combat and bosses.

Attached: Bladed Fury.jpg (1920x1080, 288K)

Are the Agarest War games any good and if so which ones? I don't care if they look like bargain bin Disgaea.

Hibox? Lol more like TITbox!

ummm Dead cells? though you are more likely to find a style you want and stick with it rather that change it every time and it's a rogue lite instead of a full linear game but many time the game will give you weapons that you want to try on despite not being what is the best

one way heroics plus

Did you play with controller or mouse?

>episode one
I'll wait for complete game, thanks

haha fuken gottem

Attached: Witch tits.webm (720x405, 2.56M)

Cool, thanks.

Also a sequel in the works

ICEY is pretty neat. The combat is definitely the strongest point in the game, having unlockable moves and the option to level them up. It's pretty short, maybe 4-5 hours, but the gameplay is fun and the bosses are somewhat challenging at times. Watching the trailer in the steam store spoils most of the bosses so be wary of that.

Attached: b7afd0dfdd94d6ba57baddc34fdfb13e4238bc55.jpg (1920x1200, 215K)

Seconding this.
I also liked the narrator/dev comments, but had to look up some since couldn't read fast enough, especially during gameplay

I just reinstalled the game and instantly remembered why I dropped it.
Fuck that horde thing

Is Fight n Rage good for someone who fucking sucks at beat em ups?

Heart and Slash is a fairly simple Hack & Slash roguelite that mostly makes up for its simple combat with the sheer variety of weapons and accessories available. It has no meta-progression beyond unlocks and the ability to carry unused skill points from run to run which is great. Also it's cute and has robots so that's a massive plus. It's like $2.50 compared to its usual $15 so I'd consider it worth looking into at least

Deadbolt is a stealth game where you play as a reaper taking down various organizations of monsters like zombies and vampires. It uses its choice of enemies well with some really cool ideas like zombies with their heads placed somewhere away from their bodies so they have a better view of the area or to cover more ground, or zombie heads being hung from ceilings to alert others to you. It's about $3 right now I think.

Immortal Redneck is a surprisingly fun roguelite fps where you go through pyramids made up of premade rooms arranged in random configurations. The closest comparison I can find to any other game would probably be Rogue Legacy, but I feel that IR removes every issue I had with RL's design, as progress doesn't feel grindy and is more based around upgrades during a run through scroll collecting for attributes like running faster when low on health, sometimes launching a homing pheonix on hit, and other things rather than meager stat improvements. It's also around $3 I believe and completely worth it. I'd recommend rebinding Throw Weapon from middle click to F if you get it though.

It was mentioned earlier but Hylics is also great, highly recommend it just for how unique the game is, and its going for only about $1.50, Suits is worth checking out as well and it's less that 50¢, there's no reason not to

Last game I'll mention is Oneshot, which is very hard for me to recommend with spoiling anything, but it quickly became one of my favorite games of all time and one I especially wish I could play for the first time again.

Attached: header (1).jpg (460x215, 55K)

Momodora RutM was alright. Mechanically solid, but very forgettable. I did my only playthrough on hard and even then it didn't feel especially challenging.

How is Death's Gambit?
I started playing it but kinda not feeling it. Is it going to be better the more I'll play or the same?

what's so good about oneshot?

>want to progress with the Slash quest (just finished his no dodge "challenge")
>he doesn't spawn in the next run
I really fucking hope this shit is worth it, he seems like a good boy worth saving.

It seems like one of those games that get praised for its overplayed fourth-wall breaking mechanics. Mix meta stuff with weebshit and you get a guaranteed overwhelmingly positive on Steam.

It's a 2D Dark Souls for all intents and purposes.
Once you get used to the game, find a weapon you like, and get into the flow of combat you might like it. But if you can't tolerate the first hour or two then you'll likely not enjoy the rest. Similar to the Souls games in that way
Has some really neat bossfights though

Any recs for fun city builder/tower defense hybrids? I like making settlements and protecting them from nasty bad guys.

They Are Billions, recently came out of early access if I remember right

>2D dark souls
So it's just metroidvania then? Controls feel kinda wonky

The game is primarily as enjoyable as it is for the writing, with the main gameplay being mostly exploration and puzzle solving. It uses fourth wall breaks better than any other game in my opinion since it uses them for puzzles and incorporates them into its world more than just acknowledgement of the players presence or for jokes. About the only flaw I could really say I felt the game had was length since it's about 4-6 hours long, 8-10 if you do the NG+ esque content afterwards, but the game never does waste time or at least feel like it does.
If you're not into more story heavy games I'd suggest just skipping out on it really.
I lied about having difficulty with recommending I was just getting dangerously close to character limit

It is, you do get some metroidvania-ish abilities to progress.
Yeah the controls are intentionally "wonky" to simulate more the Dark Souls 1 feel of the slugishness, where you have to commit to something each time you attack/dodge/block/etc.

Infra.

Source Engine game where you play as a civil engineer in a Finnish city that's crumbling in real time due to years of neglect and a conspiracy that you eventually unravel. It's like Hal-Life meets Silent Hill and Pokemon Snap. There's no spooky monsters and no combat. Instead, you just solve realistic mechanical puzzles and move boxes around and shit while taking pictures of infrastructural damage in abandoned dams and fucked up apartments and shit. It's great. Long as fuck, took me exactly 24 hours to beat. It also has the most immaculate, gigantic Source maps you've ever seen.

Never heard anyone else talk about it but it's fucking great.

Attached: unknown[1].png (1920x1080, 3.6M)

>this screenshot is the entire selling point of the game
What? It's a great metroidvania, unironically one of the best ever. One of the very few that actually looks good. A bit on the short side, but long enough to be fun.

Not him, but I found it to be too derivative. There was nothing new put in the table, just a generic Metroidvania with some souls inspiration and good pixel art. Nothing in the game really stands out. In fact, I don't remember a single thing of it other than that boss from the screenshot and the double team boss.

>puzzle game where you take pictures of infrastructural damage in abandoned dams and move boxes
user, that's pretty niche genre you just described

When will chinks stop stealing shit

>Nothing in the game really stands out
The fact that it doesn't look like shit and has snappy responsive controls already makes it stand out. That's rare for metroidvanias, both metroid and castlevania control like shit, no offense

>nothing stands out
Music is great, art is good, controls are tight, story is good, bosses are alright.
You can't call Momodora "generic" in any way desu.

Fuck off shills, i bought your game and got bored couple hours in.

Attached: 1531150040698.jpg (925x1079, 134K)

>Got on the weekly leaderboard for dying to the boss

Yeah that shit is tough as hell

Git gud

>When you reach this moment
Yes n no. Yes because its simple and enjoyable. No because if you're looking to complete a run it gets pretty dam difficult.

Attached: HASTUR.jpg (530x336, 36K)

It does everything "well" because it plays safe in every possible way, it is just boring. People only remember it because of the anime aesthetic.

there's only one game for true doom murderheads, and it's only in a demo

kios adventure is good
no idea if it's on sale of not

>anime aesthetic
shut up you dumb fuck

Attached: momododod.jpg (960x540, 101K)

i bought immortal redneck a couple of days ago, and that shit has got me hooked. really fun game, almost out of the first pyramid.
deadbolt is also good, but i played it a few years ago so i'm gonna boot it up again for funsies. good taste, user.

You aren't alive. You're just cells.

at least describe the gameplay or post a screenshot you poopy head

>plays safe in every possible way, it is just boring
Name other games that do everything as "well" as it does. I can only think of Ori. And before you say Hollow Knight, shit animation and boring environments.

Eh, it didn't do anything special, but it was pretty solid for its length anyway. Would absolutely recommend if you're just looking for something short that doesn't require much learning so you can just hop into it without difficulty.

>hollow knight
Don't forget shit controls

Yes, but beware the save system is wonky.

Bought Luna Nights and liking it so far. 11 € seemed kinda steep for such a simple game though.

Attached: 1556088163372.gif (141x224, 311K)

>realistic animations/controls in 2D game with platforming
that can never work well

anything similar to obra dinn?

looks cool, let's see If it'll get better discount

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Monster Hunter?

Fairy Bloom Freesia is a fun little 2D action game. Plays like a 2D DMC/Bayonetta, but with a fairy. Found it a while ago for $3. Can't really beat it for that price.

Attached: Fairy Bloom Freesia PC Games.jpg (773x406, 99K)

Hard West.

I can't fucking recommend it enough, even though it's got some flaws.
And it's 2 bucks, which is great.
Essentially it's a western themed X-Com with some magick bullshit going on.

Attached: hardwest.jpg (1903x1023, 1.66M)

As opposed to analogue files?

voidspire tactics is an FFT-like tactics game with dark souls environmental exploration and Divinity's ability interactions. Tons of hidden shit to find in the world, and you can directly affect the world to find secrets. Freeze a lake to walk over it, teleport your party over a gap, grow a plant and climb it to reach new heights. It looks kinda like an SNES JRPG, but it has a real lighting system which can affect gameplay. You can also multiclass everyone in your party, so tons of flexibility.

Did you play reccetear yet?

Sorry man, Lucas Pope games are basically one of a kind owing to their highly experimental nature. I mean the description of his other game, Papers Please sounds like the dullest thing ever. All you do is sort documents, who'd want to play that? But if you're willing to broaden your scope to the general genre of "Investigative mystery games" the Dangan Ronpa trilogy is on Steam and the first two are pretty good. There's also LA Noire if you're allergic to anime but can stomach GTA style car chase/shootout interludes.

Bastard Bonds is alright, I'm only like 5 hours in but the map is huge and there's apparently a lot more depth to it than I've seen so far

try the zero escape series, it's hype as fuck
the nonary games is the first two in the series bundled together, and each one will last you 50ish hours

Yeah, Reccetear is pretty good but definitely going for something different. It's more management gameplay with slightly simplified, early Ys style combat based dungeon delving. I wouldn't really compare the two, Freesia has so much more going on with the combat. Which is just as well, since it doesn't have much else. They're both good games in different ways.

Danganronpa is better

This one was good and cheap a f

Finished Momodora yesterday. Can't say it left a big impression on me. Unironically the most memorable part of it is how bullshit the one-hit kill spikes are. That shit should be forbidden in a metroidvania.

if you're 13
I imported the fan translation on PSP before the official localisation was announced, and played it again when they brought it to vita. it's a step back from 999/VLR in almost every way, and the sequels are even worse. characters are way more shallow and it has a ton of randumb memeshit and references. there are plenty of other series that are more deserving of your time than dangonronpa.

Momodora was really great though too short and some bosses were a joke. Im still mad at the dev for burying this franchise dead because he's a fucking non-confident pussy.

Great little game. It was challenging, and had good puzzles. I found it scary and enjoyed the visual design. Only thing I disliked was the writing, it was incomprehensible in its attempt to be "deep."

Attached: tamashii.jpg (460x215, 43K)

Usurper is shit, user. The only good game of the series is SiS.

I hope he'll come back to it after getting a couple games for the new franchise(?). And maybe the new game'll be good.

Iconoclasts - is a fantastic puzzle platfromer & has great pixel art.
Super fancypants adventure - Is a great action platformer with buttery smooth movement.
Unruly heroes - is a cool action platformer with Rayman aesthetics and an emphasis on DMC light combat.

too bad the animations are shit.

Im really enjoying it so far.

These games look pretty solid, getting them.

It's kinda okay in this case because someone ought to imitate it.

>468740115
You're not baiting, you're making a (you) farm to satisfy your ego because you feel like an attention whore
Now fuck off and stop posting the same litteral shit in every steam thread

This game looks incredible, getting it.

Not really. The enemy variety is small, their designs are boring (ooohh a flying portrait, so unique), the environments are dull and lack detail, the music is just droning ambience, and enemy attack patterns are too simple. Momodora really doesn't stand out in anything. Remember when you get a midair dash move and only need to use that move once at the very end of the karst castle before reaching the boss? Great use of a new skill you get somewhere halfway through the game.

I thought it was pretty good, honestly.
The game is well done for what it is, and the series is interesting to say the least.
It's not some AAA title, but it's not some bullshit mass produced game thrown on steam for no reason.

store.steampowered.com/bundle/1984/Knuckle_Cracker_Universal_Collection/ - Creeper world 1-3(2 is shit, don't bother) and particle fleet, all great tower defense games vs a "gray goo" type enemy.

store.steampowered.com/app/463700/ - Super Cloudbuilt Great platformer and the last few levels are quite challenging

store.steampowered.com/app/451020/ - Battle Chaser: Nightwar, basically a western styled jrpg. Great art and fun combat

Marrow

Horror+metroidvania, a bit clunky but atmospheric and cryptic as hell. Only if you like La-Mulana, Amon26 games and semi-lovecraftian stuff.

It's better to play it only during the night or in full darkness since the game itself is pretty dark.

Also, it's hard as fuck.

>Im still mad at the dev for burying this franchise dead because he's a fucking non-confident pussy.
The devs are making another game in the same genre, Minoria. Does it really matter that it's not specifically called "Momodora"?

Did you even read the post you replied to
>droning ambience
wrong
youtu.be/3HWYp5ispYI?list=PLAAF5GvfoM-XiQVLIRS24GxKCnBEr2FE4

I think it's that after four games of this world and characters they're doing a similar game in a different world? People want to see more.

But yeah maybe this will be good too.

>posts boss music that wouldn't even pass for stage music in a castlevania game
embarrassing

I waiting for Minoria as well, but I liked the idea and the setting of momo games so yeah, it's kinda matters for me.

desu the only part I found memorable was the fight with the knight and archer
and that's only because of how pathetically easy the fight is, with the right items

overall, it was an incredibly milquetoast experience
I don't think I will touch it again

I doubt you even listened that track I posted.
I like yours too

yeah it's ok but no the animation is actually really cheap and crappy spine stuff.
"flash animated body parts" is a good way to describe how it looks.
then again I think Vanillaware animation is pretty low effort too.

>droning ambience

Actually the best part of the game. Subterranean Grave theme is creepy af.

Huh, I never really thought the setting was substantial enough to garner that much interest in it. The ties between games always seemed too slight and tangential.

how is heartbeat? looks cool, surprised I haven't heard of it

this game is amazing. i like the horde mechanic.
yes
its not infinite. It literally ends. But once you realize it ONLY begins when youre NEAR A BOSS ROOM. so you know youre near just keep running to the boss

Also the endings are all kino... even the "good" ending is lovecraftian

Yeah I highly recommend this one too it’s pretty fun

I wish enemy design and locations didn't put me to sleep

soul? in MY nu-rpg?

Been playing Moekuri.

It's Final Fantasy Tactics with the gameplay loop of Pokemon and literally everything alive is a cute girl.

I... can't stop playing. The teambuilding aspect is way too engrossing, and the combat is way too satisfying. This game is way better than it has any right being.

how far did you get to? bottom/ left or right zone?

Attached: 20190630053505_1.jpg (1763x992, 171K)

Don't know, everything looks the same with minor differences.

well then you mustve not gone far past first stage.... cuz all three zones look VERY different.... you sure ure not a pleb that just couldnt get past tutorial section? the green lush zone? cuz left side is all the old city and right zone is the old ritual army city. All three zones look radically different.

I just told you exploring and fighting in this game are extremely boring for me.

that sucks. once you unlock abilities its fucking amazing fun. last boss fight uses all the mechanics and depending if you purified or corupted yourself it plays totally different

>that fucking random spoilers in the hub area

Wtf did dev ever think?

Attached: 1556764270925.jpg (593x767, 55K)

Yeah I like how responsive controls are and how cool main hub looks. Plus the whole upgrade system is neet.
But man, screaming robots and industrial aesthetics are not my thing

I played a bit more and probably will continue playing.
But combat really feels fucking weird, sometimes enemy attacks just go through my character without doing anything.

I actially like the designs more than the ones of the vanillaware games. If Vanillaware is cute, this one is sexy.

>chinese
>sexy
pick one faggot

that litearlly the tutorial stage lmao. it gets way better i was the same as you just play through it. Industrial aesthetic is only there because the first valkyree wwhen they discovered this planet landed there and built a base. once you learn that the left side of the map is all old ruins and right is a mix of valkyree and old gods it gets so fucking sick man. just get past the tutorial stage man

I'll give it another chance

Has anyone seen Land of the Lustrous? What games will give me that whimsical fantasy feel?

not worth the money

get literally any other metroidvania instead

Each zone is very distinct in the way it looks and plays. Down is basically what you said, left is basically labyrinthine and has a "lost kingdom" feel to it and right is floating city where tings have definitly gone wrong

Attached: Sundered-4.png (1920x1080, 1.84M)

I got bloodstained curse of the moon and now i'm hankering for more castlevania. Or at least something with detailed but still simple spritework. Maybe something with the same vibe as castlevania too. I don't care for silly shit or blob pixel style like most shit on steam. Also I need to be able to to run it on my toaster.

Attached: Toast.png (473x432, 23K)

I've seen that and wanted to try it but didn't wanna drop that much on it, though now the sale is happening, I might. Is its replayability reliant on the amount of characters, or is there more?

This game is too fucking hard. I can't get past the beginning area with the two witches throwing shit at you from above while the two dogs come after you from the right. You can't use the dodge either because you fall into the spike pit so rushing them to fight in hand-to-hand is out of the question. It's annoying because you're already outnumbered but you touch these enemies once and you get hurt and then they respawn the moment you leave the area. So what I do is charge my arrows from a distance and shoot blindly from the far side of the screen until they all die. Not even fighting games are this hard. You take two steps in one direction and you lose 3/4 of your health. I absolutely love animated 2D waifus but this is too much work.

Ori, Rabi-Ribi

dude just roll, learn the timing of witch attack, they even give you sound cue

Iconoclasts is not really a metroidvania but has great graphics & the boss fights in that may scratch your itch?
Touhou Luna Nights has great gameplay and time mechanics. it is a metroid vania. the pixel art is a bit blobby but it's not bad.

maybe.. Shante. her games are best played/emulated on 3DS.

Looks like a pain to control but the jump project song has me interested.

How's the single player? Not interested at all in online.

Alright. I already uninstalled it, but when I give it another chance some other time I'll try that.

Hollow Knight

Oh megeman ZX and ZX advent can be emulated on DS they're great metroidvanias.

Anyone played portal knight before? It looks like a very casuallike terraria clone and i wonder how it is.

Attached: Giga Wrecker.png (1260x483, 954K)

this game is good. like a mix of klonoa & an action game but whoever programmed the movement is retarded.

Bunny Must Die, old doujin soft game so it's guaranteed to run on toasters. Very eccentric metroidvania with a second unlockable character who plays very differently and has different areas/final boss fights

Played Shovel Knight and I own MMZX/A and MMZ collection. Had tons of fun with them already. Not really looking for Metroidvania or modern Castlevania. I definitely would be interested in things like Curse of the moon but the only things I see in the "similar games" section is aforementioned 2hu game and ritual of the night which I can't run.

games imitating classic Castlevania? There are the two Koumajou games, not on steam but on moriya shrine.

Chaos Sector - a turn-based strategy/tactics game in a science-fiction setting, that is basically a mashup of Super Robot Wars and old Koei strategy titles (like Nobunaga's Ambition and such). You recruit units and manage your faction in the style of Koei's games, while the actual battles play out in the style of SRW. The game has two campaigns, each around 8-10 hours long and is pretty challenging, but very enjoyable.

Brigand: Oaxaca - a very tough first-person RPG set in a post-apocalyptic Mexico. The graphics are very rough and the game itself is very janky, but it could be said that it adds a lot to the game's charm, for some people at least. Plenty of build variety and a good amount of content to see in the game. It's supposed to have a big (free?) DLC coming out at the end of the month, that adds new areas and continues the storyline.

Two main issues of momodora is unlimited arrows and enemies damaging on touch. Otherwise, the game is really fuckin good and atmospheric. I liked a strong bloodborne vibes a lot.

Anyone played it?

Fennel is the best girl in game. Even though her battle is a 80% ripoff of Lady Maria of bb, it really feels much more elaborated and challenging than any other boss battle.

Attached: download (1).jpg (682x1024, 95K)

looks like a bad clone of Bloodstained

I have to be honest, I had the most trouble by far with the duo knight/archer. Fennel is dangerous but once you get how her attacks work you can make short work of her (provided you fight her with the air dash).

Still a great fight though.

Had a lot of fun with this one. There's an outdated meme or two in there, so be chill when you find them. It's a very nice platformer with some challenging jumping segments, nice boss fights, and light metroidvania elements.

Also, tits.

is it fun solo?

Lots of stuff to unlock - the game has branching paths in each level (game can be 7 stages long or 11 stages long - different paths make a big difference).

You can even have a CPU co-op with you if you want to play with someone.

Game has Score Attacks, Time Attacks, Survival Mode, Challenge Modes...surprisingly a lot of content for a beat 'em up.

This was released before Bloodstained, and even that game looks really bad.

Bad. Clunky controls, only two strikes per weapon (no combos, ultas and stuff), no jumps (platformer!), the world itself also isn't interesting to explore.

t. got killed 100 times and rqted

Nice bait. Momodora's controls are one of the best I've ever seen in metroidvanias. Also, combat is satisfying as fuck, almost as good as in Salt&Sanctuary.

Ok, let's say it other way: Death Gambit gamedesign + s&s lore.

I don't know does this pass as a little, but I picked up Mutant Year Zero. It flew below my radar, and I decided to buy and out of curiosity. Turned out to be a good game.

Attached: Mutant.jpg (960x540, 422K)

I picked up a RPG on Steam called 'HEARTBEAT', it gave me old school RPG vibes like Chrono Trigger and Phantasia story-wise, The combat is turn-based though and is channeling SMT for that. Not a bad game in the slightest.

shill

I just played a little bit of pirated version and honestly, combat feels pretty satisfying despite simplicity and atmosphere is good.
On the verge of buying it because they are still patching it.
How long did you play it?

Just saying what it reminded me of

And you remind me of a shill

Are you guys for fucking real?

are you?

Yes, the game unironically controls like trash.

Did you get buttfucked at the start, blamed it on controls and stopped playing?

Did anyone else think that this game was way too easy, and way too short as a result? I didn't think I was too good at games or anything, but some people in the reviews even called this hard. This was one of the first games on steam I've played that I'd actually call too easy to a point where it bugs me.

I'm glad I bought it on sale. It's easily worth 5 bucks, but certainly not 10. According to howlongtobeat, it's supposed to be like five hours long, but it didn't really take me much more than three. None of the bosses killed me except the final boss.

I bought this game to hit on those witch tiddies then dropped it.

Named metroidvanias with tighter controls that aren't called Ori

>the Dangan Ronpa trilogy is on Steam and the first two are pretty good
>the first two

brainlet

Video games don't exist. They are just pixels on the screen.

Nah, it's very much an arcade style game

Had that game on my wishlist actually. It looks cute, think I'll grab it.

I also thought Momodora controlled quite nicely. Why not just write it off as different tastes and forget? At the very least I think you cannot honestly say the game is "objectively" bad. I didn't enjoy Hollow Knight at all and I wouldn't call that game trash anyway.

Crimzon Clover
Tiny & Big: Grandpa's Leftovers
The Swapper
Assault Android Cactus
Mute Crimson+
Dropsy

Wrong, they lease digital files.

>Tiny & Big: Grandpa's Leftovers
Great 3D platformer and unironically 9/10 indie game. The only flaw is it's too short.

Lolicons are like how sharks die if they stop moving, they cannot and will not stop as long as they breathe.

Is this Etherlords clone?

How's Fear & Hunger? Have had an eye on it for a while.

Victor Vran, it's the true evolution of ARPGs.

Also liked Lone Survivor, Fran Bow and Lost in Vivo.

There's Chantelise

Tried a bit.

Aiming is cancer. 2-1 mission is stutter hell. Unless you got something I'm calling trash on this.

Besides of annoying coin flip mechanics the game is really good if you're into murky stuff. It's just like Berserk with some Silent Hill vibes.

But I like basic depth perception, user.

Cthon is simple cosmic-horror but atmospheric as hell. Just don't expect something like Doom or Wolfenstein by screens. It's literally survival horror with some lovecraftian influence.

Can suggest Yomawari if you're into any kind of Japanese horror

Of that list, I have 50+ hours in The Quest from the main game and expansion pack and 62 hours in Tropico 4 with its DLC content

I guarantee you haven't played Ember.

Not that user but it's 100% the easiest way to make people understand what the game is without writing an essay about it

store.steampowered.com/app/494320/Wizrogue__Labyrinth_of_Wizardry/

Oh and this. I have 40 hours in it and not even close to done (I gave up) - imagine a game with infinite grinding.

I tried Marrow, but it was just too clunky for me. It feels like someone just tossed it together in Game Maker over the weekend.

I'm sure its already been mentioned, but
obligatory one way heroics post

I've been eyeing the game for a minute and its fucking $1.50 right now but I am overloaded with new games from the past month already.

Maybe Risk of Rain 1 or 2? It's a rogue like where each class has a distinct moveset and you slowly become a walking death machine through the items you pick up during a game.

>Rhythm Doctor
Holy shit I played that demo years ago and totally forgot about it.
Thanks user I'm gonna give it a go again.

Sadly after Phantom Doctrine the company bit the dust.
Shame

Hard West is a piece of shit, sorry to say. $2 is about the only reason you could defend it.

The Void

Ye that's why it's so popular among shills

That's a weird dildo

Some more or less obscure stuff that I liked:

The Dishwasher: Vampire smile (edgy and gorey hack'n'slash, pure raw bloody fuckery)

Exoder (arcade platformer aka IceClimber + They Bleed Pixels, HARD AS FUCK, gonna rip your ass apart)

The Final Station (pretty meh in terms of gameplay but has a very well done atmosphere of oncoming apocalypse with strong Bradbery's and Simon Stalenhag's vibes, pretty good plot although kinda messy)

Hello Charlotte (literally, Evangelion of rpgmaker games about cute girls, very elaborated and well developed, a lot of mindfucks and interesting chars)

Lucah: Born of a Dream (something like "Yume Nikki with dark souls combat", the plot is messy but the combat is really good and satisfying, a lot of build variety)

RefRain: Prism Memories (cyberpunk danmaku, good designs and AWESOME music, like, one of the best osts I've ever heard in the genre)

Towerclimb (cliffhanging platformer + roguelite, a lot of stuff to unlock, a lot of hidden mechanics and a lot of everything to do, very hard to beat)

Straimium Immortally (weird and dope 2D shmup roguelite, not really hard but still fun to play)

Attached: RefRain_characters (1).png (610x543, 397K)

probably Impossible Creatures

Would you rather they make up genres to encompass several different ones?
Just like how "MOBA" worked out explaining literally nothing about the game, sounding dumb, can be applied to millions of games and still somehow sticking around

Kero Blaster's £3.49 at the moment. Same guy as cave story. First 'story' is pretty standard, but it gets really good in the hard mode (new levels, not just harder versions of the first story).
if it works it works

Did you play with mouse+kb? I really don't know how people find this game too clunky, the controls on gamepad are really good and responsible.

I also don't know why there's almost no one who knows about it. The game setting and designs are really superior for me, I wish there were more games like this but I literally cannot find anything similar.

When we stop buying shit from them.

I've been meaning to check this out but the sequel looks to be a nice improvement and is supposedly releasing this summer

Seconding Kero Blaster, its great

Should i get VA-11 Hall-A?

so is Dark souls 2 a meme ? or /v are just faggots who can't stop crying?

Attached: 521521.jpg (622x254, 21K)

The latter, it's a fine game, even if it is the worst Souls game.
Might want to get Dark Souls 3 while you're at it, since it's on a huge discount with all DLC too

Yeah

It has really good combat but the way the game is structured is really off putting

Its a love/hate game, i personally think its the best Dark Soul games, others hate it with a passion.

Does maximum action have enough content yet? Only thing making me hold off.

DS2 is good in its own way. Of course, it failed on lot of things that people liked ds1 for, but it has the most interesting and the most interconnected world of all the souls games, it has a shitload of different playstyles and replayability and also it has more murky and creepy atmosphere and sound design. You certainly should give it a try, especially if it's on discount. Just don't play it with "expecting another DS1" in your mind.

It's not a bad game it's just the worst Souls game.

in the end it's still 90% similar to the other dark souls games, so if you like them you'll probably also like DS2 as long as you aren't an armchair games analyst

Probably not, I've only had time to play a little but the amount of pre-made scenes is small and they are short. Though the workshop is pretty active, I have yet to check it out.

No idea how this game is so obscure. It should be fucking Yea Forums-core.
So much soul, unique artstyle, great gameplay, silly setting. A mix of castlevania, beat'em up and RPG. 30 hours long.

Attached: Super Daryl Deluxe.jpg (600x800, 441K)

Pathfinder: Kingmaker. It's pretty long, but it's super fun!

Its the worst Souls game but its pretty decent if you're into coop/pvp. However, its a shit solo experience in my opinion.

I'm sure they will get the ball rolling with new blood involved now. Seems like a game with a ton of potential.

It's depressing that Nex Machina is a modern arcade classic that bombed so hard it convinced the company that made it to stop making arcade-style games.

>delete the physical device
>digital files suddenly gone
sounds to me like they're real

I haven't played it, but Mulaka seems to be in the vein of Zelda and Okami

Its fucking stupid. Now they are making some battle royale when the fad is already past it. I'm sure they were cutting out a good little niche market making arcade titles. What the hell went so wrong?

It's fun as fuck already to just jump already iconic Matrix scenes in endless mode. The replay camera can be a bit wonky sometimes though and still needs some work. In third person looks janky, in first person there's a clear desync because your character is shooting where the NPC was when you killed him but in the replay scene the NPC may actually be somewhere slightly different.

It's pretty damn good, that entire series is. To every challenge that game presents you there's a solution to be found, if you're not a baddie way too willing to throw the "bad game design" card around.

I also got the bundle but i started with Amid Evil. I love the visuals and music. The gameplay is great too. I'm looking forward to dusk but Amid Evil's atmosphere is more my jam.

As a side note though, the Scholar version is actually fucked up. They botched enemy placement and majorly fucked up enemy AI in a particular area. They also made it possible to simply skip an entire area that was pretty fun in the original. I'd recommend vanilla DaS2 over Scholar, I think you can still get it on Steam.

This. Fuck Scholar

Seconding this request, adventure games liked zelda or ico are my favourite genre but good ones are hard to come by

imagine being this autistic

this actually looks like kino and its like 2 dollars on steam. thanks bro

imagine being proven wrong and resorting to name calling

Beat it about a month ago. Most boring shit I've ever played, the only interesting thing was beating the bosses without getting hit for the special items but the items were mostly garbage and the bosses were too easy. Overall, the game was too short and exploration wasn't rewarding in the slightest, what was the deal with all the hidden rooms that didn't serve any purpose at all (ie: that stupid music box room)?

>Post cool little games you rented on steam sale
ftfy

I honestly had huge trouble with Usurper. Now I am not a really good gamer, but I have beaten all Souls games, Hollow Knight, Salt & Sanctuary and other games usually regarded as hard, so calling Usurper easy as fuck kinda seems wrong. Unless there is something after the first two hours that makes the rest easier.

Did you miss the first reply?
Do you also want to get laughed at?

Got ZeroRanger because Yea Forums kept on shilling it and I really liked it.

that's not the same thing I'm saying at all
once steam dies, all your games die with it too

Did you play it with daggers or books? I did spear/sword run and it was cheesy as fuck, every single enemy was dead even before he could do something.

Not unless you have the game files

>once steam dies

It won't happen until I gonna be already dead so I don't give a fuck.

This is literally the only image of the game I've seen. Is the game a single boss fight or something?

Been posted a few times here, but no. It's the most prevalent one for obvious reasons, but it's just a single boss who shows up like twice.

Attached: cute girl fight.webm (720x405, 2.8M)

Yeah, the whole game is about beating the shit out of some boobie-woobie motherfuckeress.

Has /v finally found this masterpiece? I'm almost happy now.

as long as you have the files on your computer I don't see the problem

How much more is added from the freeware version that was still called FINAL BOSS?

Attached: Capture.png (319x478, 8K)

Is episode 1 the demo on steam?

KB+mouse, yeah. The controls weren't actually bad, it was more the little things. Like the fonts it uses, the lack of any menu options, the lack of an ingame menu, or the fact that the intended way to exit the game seems to be alt-F4.
All that stuff adds to the impression that this is someone's programming homework and might break completely at any second. Like, would it really have taken away from the immersion to let the player rebind keys, or control the game volume? Those things matter for how polished the game feels.
Sure, minor interface problems don't matter in a good game, but it didn't really come across as good. I only played it for forty minutes, but didn't find any hook in that time. I'm in some dark Metroidvania dungeon full of spooks with no map or any obvious goal. What's the game even about?

I don't really know but I've seen anons saying that the free version had about 70% of the final game.

Sir this is a blue board!

The free version has easy and normal difficulties (hard is listed as wip) and three levels that you can loop through (from what I can tell).
How's the full version compare? The aesthetic is killer and the gameplay is tight so I might shell out the dosh sometime.

Nah, you have to grab it from dev's itch.io. They didn't put it on steam and it's a serious flaw since it contains a huge piece of game's plot it also the best episode

Not him but stage 4 is the hypest and longest stage in the game

The final version has 4 levels with a second loop that's harder and with a different level 4. I'm not sure if there's more because that's as far as I got until now. As for difficulty select It doesn't have any, but it unlocks more continues if you keep on dying.
I think it's worth getting it. The gameplay feels really good, the soundtrack is amazing and I really like how the hype of the story ramps up.

War Of the Human Tanks trilogy
it's a strategy game with multiple routes
goes from the start of the war to the end where human tanks are becoming extinct

I unironically liked the idea of being totally alone, without knowing where to go and what to do. For me, this is the way the horror games should be done: totally isolated, totally unfriendly and totally misdirected. From's games (DS, Shadow Tower, Bloodborne etc...) kinda feel like this it's not the same since there's still a lot of npc's in it and you don't feel totally abandoned and forsaken. On the other hand, in Marrow you're just completely in fucked up situation and without any real connection with the regular world, starting from enemies that you don't even know what the fuck exactly they are and finishing with completely hostile environment and a lot of mysterious stuff surrounding you.

The only game that gave me similar feelings was Rain World, although it's a completely different genre.

I found Slime San and fell in love with it. It sort of reminds me of Super Meat Boy, but with a greater emphasis on movement and speed running as opposed to tight platforming.

Attached: slime-san-52704.jpg (1280x720, 508K)

Someone still plays OWH?

What's this woman from?

Monster Girl Gamu. It's only on its second demo, and some say it'll never get released, but it's a dense ass demo that's allegedly getting a sprite update to fix some of the jank ass art, so I have hope. Also Klara is best girl

>What's the game even about?

A kid search for his friends that lost beneath some mountain somehow, then he finds out eldritch stuff that people experimented with a long time ago and then all of this was buried and entombed below.

Thanks user

I hope the ass art becomes less jank, asses are highly important assets.

I think I played greatsword. That said, I didn't really manage to get into the dodging and abilities, the first real boss more or less wrecked me so I only played for 1.5 hours.

You don't have to dodge, you can spam only shield 'cause it deflect everything from all sides. And yes, you can use it even on zero stamina/energy.

I preordered Rhythm Doctor to get a place in the thank you credits and the demo with the discord levels there's literally 100s of Discord levels, so it was super worth it It'll cost money, but I don't recall how much.

Attached: Rhythm Doctor.gif (268x268, 1.34M)

okay, I guess I went into the game with different expectations. Kinda like playing DS1 for the first time as a fatrolling tank makes it harder than just wearing nothing.

Why do games like Momodora, Cave Story, Usurper and so on feel so different from what is mostly pushed as great indie games today (like Hollow Knight).

I feel like indie games without the influence of crowdfunding and huge hype before release have a much different charm to them

The three smaller games I've been playing lately are Stardew Valley, Iconoclasts and Rabi-Ribi. They're all a lot of fun
I'm also playing Persona 5, but that's a bigger title

Attached: 1561484293590.png (500x498, 368K)

Momodora is pretty similar to Hollow Knight though.

i liked all the collectables you could unlock. it gave me more motivation to tackle the harder challenges.

feels really different to me though. But maybe the fact that HK was hyped beyond belief is enough to make that difference.

Because the devs made these games with isolated mind, imagination and feels, they literally made games for themselves. I like Hollow Knight but I must admire that it has too many tropes that was made by following people's expectations, when, for example, Momodora feels more like a "private" game by which you can even feel the emotions the devs put into.

This, I feel like I could've played and enjoyed Hollow Knight thoroughly if it hadn't received so much excessive praise. I ended up expecting a SOTN-tier masterpiece and was honestly pretty disappointed.

I literally can't bring myself to play momodora without finishing the flash games, but whenver I go back to play the first one, I miss an item and lose all motivation to finish it.

On the other hand, Ghost of a tale is a cute, comfy stealth game. I clocked 11 hours for a exploitative playthrough. A lot of people seemed to miss this came out, as the only trailer I saw of this was at E3 2014

Attached: GhostTale_05.jpg (1920x1080, 339K)

>tfw had no expectations for HK and loved it
Man people here play video games wrong

Attached: 91yiltwe11x11.jpg (1200x1028, 161K)

You don't have to find all the items, it doesn't change anything. Of course, if you mean the very first momodora.

>tfw got it literally blind, without even knowing what is this, and enjoyed from beginning to the end

It was the very first version and beating the Colosseum with freezes was pure fucking hell.

>Man people here play video games wrong
people here don't play video games at all

B-but i do...
