It has happened in the past with other developers to stop people from playing the game.

I didn't download but that's mostly because 343i killed all of my hype.
By the time they fucking finish Reach (probably by next year given their tack record), it won't even launch with splitscreen, forge, theater mode, etc. What's the point?

Microsoft logs your motherboard serial and various other shit and that counts as 1 machine, i have had problems activating my license key in the past for that very reason because i simply switched mobos. It's not unlikely they would ban your hardware first to ban all your accounts linked to that machine. Whenever Valve completes proton i'll switch to that instead of jewsoft.
