7 > 4 > 2 > 1 > 5 > 3 > 6 > 8

The stretch from Sugar Mountain onto the end of part 7 is the most consistently good Araki has ever been in every regard.

Part 3 starts out poor and progressively gets better as it goes on, with that momentum carrying on into part 4, where stands really come into their own.
Using stands to scam the lottery or to prank your neighbors are really engaging ideas for chapters.

Part 5 is mostly great but Giorno is the worst Jojo, Diavolo is the worst villain that isn’t Kars and the fucking horrible ending knock it way down. Part 6 is the reverse where it’s mostly awful aside from Jolyne, but the last ~3 fights are unbelievably fucking good.

Part 2 is like watching Looney Tunes thanks to Joseph, who singlehandedly carries the part. Part 1 isn’t much to write home about but I absolutely love the melodrama at the beginning and end of the part.

Part 8 has completely failed to hold my interest, mostly because the main stands are as bad as Gold Experience and the fights suck as a result, but also because I know better than to trust Araki to be able to tell a compelling mystery story. Damo was a top 3 minor villain though.

7 > 4 > 2 > 5 > 6 > 3 > 1

1 is a good starting point but the rest of the series only improves upon it. Dio and Jonathan's relationship is the selling point for sure.

2 is just a fantastic, goofy romp across the globe with nonsensical hype at every turn. It's the most fun the series has ever been.

3 has a really rough first half, it's so bad it would be dead last if it weren't for the entire run in Egypt.

4 is just lovely front to back, it's super nostalgic and comfy both in manga and anime. All the small, episodic. adventures and slice of life shenanigans dovetailing into the Kira arcs is such a jarring and wonderful moment because of just how comfy the rest of the part is that it feels like his presence in the story is violating this adorable small town.

5 has some amazing battles but suffers the worst from Araki's lack of planning. I adore the ending, but I'd be hard pressed to say it isn't a clusterfuck of bullshit ideas all being thrown together last minute. You can see page by page Araki struggling to figure out how to wrap it up. The anime is really adapting it well and smoothing out some of the nonsense, but it's easily the least structurally sound part.

6 is a bit of a mixed bag with some great moments in the final third with some ho-hum shit in the first half. It's never bad, and certainly never dips as much as 3, but it never really hits the same highs as the other parts.

7 is just Araki's outright finest writing, with actual, deeper themes and an interesting look at faith from an uncommon lens via Mormonism. It had the best characters, stands, fights, writing, and art up until that point.

I haven't read much at all of 8, I've been holding off for years now but it is absolutely gorgeous. I can't rank it but I'm excited to start catching up once the end is in sight in a decade ;_;

I don't think Jojo really works as a conventional fighter/action game. I think the perfect Jojo game would be a puzzle/mystery game with a new non-canon story.

You're a stand user and you inevitably get into fights with other stand users and you gotta THINK and figure out how their stand works and use logic to overcome their stand and then you're allowed to beat the fuck out of them because you're the "power-type" stand protag who has the upper hand once you're within 2 meters of an enemy.

stone ocean is so dramatically underrated because it has a lot of very confusing parts on the first read. Once you have a greater context of pucci's plans and some of the more bizarre stands (weather reports snail light for example) its a ton of fun with great characters. More than any other part it deserves a second read (the color version looks great too). It also has the most unexpected and poignant ending jotaro and hermes dying in one swoop, jolynes sacrificial final attack, the existential tragedy of being erased from the universe
I've read through the series twice and was shocked by how much I enjoyed stone ocean and jolyne's character on the second time thru.

Part 8 is slowly becoming my favourite part actually, the fights have been pretty great (Vitamin C, Fun Fun Fun, Beetle Tendency) so far and the mystery getting unraveled was pretty great, the Higashikata family has a lot of good characters, even Joshu gets a pretty great mini-arc. Don't know why it didn't captivate you, because it sure as shit did for me.

Yes, that would have been an immense improvement all around. It'd fix a lot, since Hol Horse felt like he had a character arc of sorts, but then it abruptly ends.

I, too, think it all went downhill after part 2, with part 4 being a very pleasant surprise. Everything seemed reasonable, some of his asspulls were great such as pulling Okuyasu by "fixing" his arm. The only part that bothered me was outfixing Kira's explosion. Joseph asspulled much more than him, but Joseph's asspulls are also fair, especially because he is a frail human trickster dealing with literal gods that would take an immense dump on all other jojos put together and with preparation time
Meanwhile Giorno and Bruno's gang usually outnumber their opponents and also got more broken stands than them (see the train sequence), yet they still need the most outraging deus ex machinas to win every single fight

Meanwhile as pointed before part 3 has no character development at all. It has character arcs? Yes it has, but they change nothing and are also a chore to watch. Ultimately it's a bunch of villain-of-the-week episodes that you can easily skip without missing anything. Part 5 is not too different from that, the difference being that they develop Diavolo's character slowly after each episode. So I have no idea how you niggers can think part 4 is more filler than these two.

The character development in most episodes is so miniscule, and you get so many characters introduced and then practically discarded after their arcs having fuck all to do. Even the main cast suffers from this, Okuyasu is such a waste of a character. More importantly though, the stand and fights are just really stupid and the comedic episodes fall flat. One of the only filler episodes that delivered had a fucking rat as the antagonist let that sink in. Part 5 on the other hand has really enjoyable tense fights and awesome stands.

Because Araki was in a depressive spiral and didn't want to have to write about Giorno needing to kill Fugo.

Anyone else enjoyed that part as much as me? It had me at my toes every fucking second. You usually know the hero is going to pull some way to get out of a bad situation in the earlier episodes, but Joseph would get checkmated so insanely hard at nearly every moment. He was facing literal gods and there was nothing he could apparently do, so I would actually believe he was going to die like a child being fooled by a cheap magic trick. Then he'd trick the aztec gods, predict what they were going to say and my brain would liberate tons of whatever is the chemical that makes you feel happy for some seconds. What a godlike part.

King Crimson is so inconsistent. He is just nu-The World depending on how Araki feels. See in the last episode how Diavolo used it to run ahead of Bruno & crew. It's not supposed to work like that, people are still supposed to act during erased time, they just forget their actions. And Diavolo is not supposed to be able to damage people during erased time (just like no one is able to damage him)

Those things were already fated to happen so all King Crimson had to do was skip time. In an unskipped timeline, Diavolo probably infiltrated the elevator and Trish lost her hand in the struggle and dunked Narancia.

Apparently Diavolo is predicting himself running away, then erasing time shortly before he starts running, which apparently makes everyone frozen in place because they are staring at Diavolo. DP did not even put some effort into, I don't know, having them attack the fake Diavolo until realizing that the real one is running past them. But even if he did that it'd still not be how the ability works.

No it isn't, especially for cinematic purposes. Dio could just stop time and one-hit everyone, so Araki had to asspull ways for him to be unable to do that with Jotaro. Anyone with half a brain will be mad at how he doesn't just jump at Jotaro, parry his punches for some seconds and then finish him while Star Platinum is immobile.
King Crimson more or less fixes this by being unable to hurt people during erased time (other than the moments when he does hurt people of course). Its lack of cooldown makes for much more dynamic fights too.

Some of the Stands granted by the corpse aren’t that person’s own Stand but one from the corpse itself. D4C belongs to the heart for example, not Valentine himself. Diego kept Scary Monsters because it was the corpse’s ability to give, not his own Stand (which would naturally be The World.

Dio's stand would be unbeatable if it wasn't for Jotaro asspulling having the same stand powers because family and shit.

Watch the 2012 anime (Parts 1 and 2), Stardust Crusaders (Part 3, watch out though because they dragged this one out as long as possible to milk nostalgiabucks from the Japs), Diamond is Unbreakable (Part 4, has the opposite problem of Part 3 in that they rushed it) and then Golden Wind (Part 5, pretty good adaptation. That’s all the anime so far. Stone Ocean is Part 6 and is the original ending to the series, with Steel Ball Run (Part 7) being a reboot with no ties to 1-6 outside a bunch of references and there being Stands. JoJolion (Part 8, still ongoing) is the current one and is a sequel to Steel Ball Run.

For your daily life Harvest is the best you can get, but if another stand user starts hunting for you, you're dead.

Even for mundane shit its the best one, just get a bunch of alternate yous to help you do chores and shit.
Hell part 1 and 2 are also the shortest parts in the manga. You miss a ton of shit including the main conflict, who Dio is, who Joseph is and how vampires are even involved in the plot. Sure some of this is explained in part 3 but it really isn't enough to just skip 1 and 2. Also all the parts of Jojo are great anyways.
Do we know what DP is doing after part 5 is done? Probably whenever their next project is finished. I wouldn't expect them to wait too long for part 6.

I'm an optimist and will say by April next year. Realistically, April 2021.

Starting this season they’ve got two shows running, Fire Force (manga adaptation) and a gacha tie in anime called Ensemble Stars. Next year they’ve got a new Strike Witches season. They’ve got multiple teams there now so I assume most of the JoJo team is working on one of those two new shows this season seeing as Golden Wind is nearly over, and will then work on Stone Ocean.

I don't recommend skipping any parts but 1 and 2 are barely relevant to the rest of the series. It's not like Dio's motivation to kill the Joestar bloodline makes any more sense if you've read part 1 because he has that motivation before the series even starts and it's never elaborated on. Any elements from parts 1 and 2 are barely even relevant to the rest of the series, I think Joseph uses Hamon like once in the entirety of part 3.

They made it even more drawn out. Part 3 is 152 chapters in the manga but was adapted in 48 episodes. Part 4 is 174 chapters and only got 39. Part 5 is 155 and got 39. Pacing was already it’s weak point but they made it even worse in the anime, with every short 3 chapter fight getting a full episode when the other Parts have averaged 4-5 chapters per episode. It moves at a glacial pace despite being the third shortest Part in the series.

the problem with this is fitting multiple villains in one episode, it destroys the pacing aswell and leaves no room for downtime.

They handled it pretty well with Babyface and White Album sharing an episode in Part 5, but obviously if they did it with every short fight in Part 3 it’d suck ass. They definitely could have done better though.

Yea it worked for part 5 cause it isn't monster of the week, with multiple villains showing up each chapter in part three shit would get convoluted fast, the anime doesn't ruin the pacing of the manga because the pacing of the manga was too quick and wouldn't work for a show the end.
