I wouldn't consider Monsters Inc a "good" world, it was just a retread of the movie but the word "scream" was find and replaced with the word "laughter". The level design itself was just a long linear hallway down a generic factory floor that had nothing to do with the movie beyond the Door Vault.

I just didn't like the feel of KH3 and the story didn't go the way I thought it would. KH2 had more charm to me, but maybe I just feel like it had more SOUL and the combat system was more fun. KH3 just felt like it wasn't really a kingdom hearts game. It felt like something else to me.

Kingdom Hearts has a continuous story and things aren't going to be acomodating. A kid whose early Disney films include Moana and such? They're going to be very turned off by the random Nomura story that's off the walls crazy with honestly bad writing.

It almost feels like Kingdom Hearts is about to turn unprofitable. You know like how Toy Story 3 is where it needed to END, but Toy Story 4 still happened and we all know the reception Toy Story 4 is getting, even Disney noticed that sales are lower than expected.

The end game was good but the Disney Worlds were such a slog to get through.

Lack of secret bosses and Data Org fight options made it feel weaker than KH1 and 2.

I think the real problem with KH3 is that it feels very outdated, like it should have come out a long time ago. It is absolutely ridiculous we had to wait this long for the game to come out and it wasn't even the end of the whole series. Most people I know who loved KH said they're done buying the games and they'll just follow news casually on the story and any upcoming games.

But lets say for example KH3 hit $65m dollar sales in the US, but since its price ranged from $230, $80 and $60 that means that despite having higher dollar sales it still sold less unit sales than Game A. That is how NPD tracks sales and reports their ranking, not on unit sales but on dollar sales, so no KH3 has not outsold KH1 or KH2 yet as KH3 is still sub 5m sold, and nowhere close to XVs sales.

No just dont expect a sequel in a series you got into at age 12 to provide the same joy at age 25. People acted like this game was supposed to be a transcendent masterpiece that gave them a chance to relive their youth. Most of the complaints were about KH3 trying different game mechanics and lacking things from the older games that were arbitrary and purely a nostalgia fix. If you played it like you would any other game youd find that it's pretty solid, it's not perfect by any means but it certainly isnt trash. And a lot of the complaints were problems that have been a staple in the series. The writing and dialogue have always been cringey and autistic, and Disney worlds always generally went through the same plot as the movie. I'll admit that it was really forced in KH3 but Square has stated several times that they were really limited by Disney with what they could do with their IPs in terms of plot. And there were things that KH3 did way better than previous entries that people bitch about. The environments in this game were a vast improvement as far as visuals and exploration quality, KH2's environments were boxes and hallways. The combat wasnt the greatest but we got cool shit like keyblade transformations and shotlocks. A lot of the hate is coming from jaded fucks who either expected too much or wanted to see the game fail.

They tried something new with the combat, wouldve been amazing if they just took KH2's combat and built on it but it isnt what we got. You can appreciate for what it is if you stop comparing it to KH2. Post game stuff was fun and creative but it could've used more.

DDD and BBS got shit for exactly that, dont pretend every game was flawless before 3.
