Look at the studio that is making it, give up now before you get upset. Its going to be generic fantasy weeb shit with shrill voice girls and men who scratch the back of their head and pause for 5 minutes in the middle of a battle to have an inner monologue while the enemy stands staring into the distance.

The intro will be strong as fuck, but it will turn into a completely differnet show after that, where it starts with the tone and look of something like Berserk, and then it will turn into just another anime.

I'm afraid the central themes of DD's setting and story have flown way above the head of most of its audience, so I don't think a faithful adaptation of those themes will ever satisfy the people that played it.

Mercedes is a sad story that absolutely won't work in 2019. At first glance she's a female knight and that's empowering. But then you talk to some NPCs and you realize that she's not respected. At all. Her father sent her to Gransys specifically because he doesn't give a fuck about Hearthstone's pact with Gransys. And didn't even send her with any men, she had to scrounge up mercs and fishermen for her "Wyrmhunt." Who don't give a shit about her and she knows it. To the point where she spends her nights drunk on Cloudwine because of her depression. Give her the Arisen's Bond and you get a peek at her inferiority complex

And at the end of the day there is no heroic breakthrough for her? Either she can attempt to put down Julien and lose. Or she can live knowing she needed you to do her job for her. Honestly a godlike game, but it's absurdly boring til legitimately 10 hours in, as autistic as that sounds. The game was not all that engaging til I had done about half of the Wyrm Hunt quests - after that point, you have a decent amount of vocation skills, and combat gets crazy fun.

Itsuno was working on DMC5 until recently, I would say that DD2 probably started development just recently. Expect it in maybe 3-5 years.
