Carts twice
I find the kind of player that plays LS is way to polarized. Either they suck immensely, or they literally never get hit while styling on the monster. There's no inbetween.
Only Hammerbros are top tier. Everything else is shit tier.
LS is shit in every single MH game except for MHGU and MHW.
Because in MHW a lot of it's attacks are vertical in nature, and in MHGU if you play Adept style all your attack become vertical focused.
In both of those cases you don't disturb other players while they're trying to do their job.
And additionally in MHGU using adept you'll basically never even get hit so you can't really cart, you won't do as much damage as brave, but it's a worthy trade off for essentially becoming immortal.
>Carries everyone
Isn't this true essentially just in 3U?
And it's just based off exploiting something fundamentally broken?
>solos the hunt
Anyone else in love with Switch Axe?
MHW is my second monster hunter game and I just cant get enough of how cool the axe is, absolutely love it
Fuck that, this is the "carts twice" weapon.
Longsword users tank hits and get stunned, then you bonk them on the head or get a heal off - Bow Users get hit once and instantly cart because on top of not knowing about the ranged penalty, they inevitably also don't make space for Health Boost on their build and probably don't have upgraded armour either. The expected evasiveness combined with the stamina cost stopping dodges going off means they always misjudge their ability to not get hit.
At least Bowgun users are carrying a shit ton of status, but Bow users are cart city.
>blows away the team for a Wyvern fire
>is the chad
>implying they'll be relevant in Iceborne
DOOTchads about to make a comeback.
It's the first weapon I ever used and I never switched from it back in MH Tri for the OG Wii. Switch Axe best weapon.
The same happens to greatsword users because they're either beginners who got told "start with the greatsword" (which is terrible advice,) or they're the people who know the in's and out's of MH.
Maybe if you are stuck in LR, faggot.
LS has been good in every game but 4U.
The best way for beginners to learn to play the game is to use hit and run tactics. Greatsword is actually really good for that even without crit draw nonsense. It's also a high tier weapon in basically every single MH game, so it's not likely to frustrate new players by doing weak damage.
UNGA BUNGA ME SMASH
Insect glaive is based
DB is the worst
>tfw a db nigger stops my status attack chain
I started an MHGU profile to use weapons I don't usually use, and I'm finding the DBs to be pretty fun. Really made the Blangonga key quest pretty easy, fun even.
>Insect glaive is based
>spends the entire fight flying around like a retard while tickling the monster
Fuck off frenchie
This, I was trash until I picked up GS and it made me actually learn monster movesets and tells.
I really wish I could stop sliding everywhere in World.
>dbs
>stopping teammate status attacks
>while they're in the air
How's it going Kirito and friends? Had your daily dose yet?
Propely used IG is essentially unstoppable.
Tribuffed, you never bounce and break shit, then kill, extremely fast.
You can also mount but as a general rule if you see an IG too much in the air after the first half of a hunt, then they're definitely a je suis monté.
As a general rule a good IG is grounded, precise, and focused on getting tribuffed and then shitting out damage.
The only downside of IG is that it reached it's peak in 4U in terms of how fun to use and powerful it was, and it's been consistently nerfed every game after that.
It's still OK, but IG will never reach it's peak like it did with 4U ever again.
The other downside is that it's an endgame weapon, as in it's better to make it once you've got the resources/access to areas/hunts to get everything you need, it's not the type of weapon you can play from the start, at least not if you want to keep up with the progression reliably.
In 4U building the specific kinsect you needed required you to be autistically precise following guides.
In MHGU from my understanding all you need to do is pump speed and basically go full affinity, so it's much simpler at least (plus the best style for IG in MHGU is Guild, so it keeps things simple i suppose).
>switched Long and Wide GL's bonuses
Why
>love IG in MHGU because aerial style makes their pole vault wicked fast and hit hard, you can easily chase monsters down
>in MHW using aerial shit is for gay babies because it's slow, the aerial attacks either make you lose all your momentum or do spinny flippy shit for pissy baby damage
It shits out damage on the ground so I never do vaulting in world.
In 4U your choice of kinsect basically came down to whether or not you'd use its glaive at endgame, since there were plenty of glaives that are useful up to that point but eventually outclassed, and the effect extender bugs only become available at G2 at the earliest
Stuff like the nerscylla and zamtrios glaives aren't endgame material but can at least get you there, so just pumping speed works out great for them
I wanna play monster hunter after enjoying the fuck out of dragons dogma. Is it more fun with friends or would I be okay to play without friends since I can never get my faggot friends on board to play anything I like?
>second half of the hunt
>no mounting
That's the best time to do it. Save the ez mounts for when everyone gets tired or when healing items and combines run low.
It's how I used my support set. I finished a lot of EX deviants and super elders this way.
I wasn't a fan of how IG upgrading worked in 4U considering you basically had to make and upgrade every IG you wanted entirely from scratch
I've played 10 MH games and about 7 of them were completely solo
Eh, difference in approaches.
It's usually custom to double mount (or triple if it's possible, but it's usually 2 max) in the first half because the prey is more aggressive and it's the crucial initial moment where hunters caught in incorrect positioning can get carted immediately.
During the second half the prey is slower and takes long breaks, allowing for more hunter mistakes, and the focus should shift towards breaking remaining parts and killing, thus it's better to stay down and focus on buffing then damaging.
Yeah, simplifying the system and allowing for glaive swapping was probably for the best
>super elders
What did he mean by this
>so just pumping speed works out great for them
Yeah, that was how people usually approached it.
Wich is why in MHGU pure speed being not only viable, but encouraged, is a pretty great thing.
Simpler, effective.
>irrelevant since MH4
last one I tried to get into was tri and what I tried really felt like you needed a party of people to play, but maybe I'm just retarded
>fun playstyle gets shitted on and removed due to power moving to true charge
buff crit draw to 300% in iceborne, I want to play a weapon based off reading and predicting monster movements, not a slower LS
serious business
don't know about you guys but I can usually solo most things under 10 minutes with bows, particularly piercing ones.
it's really weird too because everyone says bows suck, especially piercing ones. I also can't into literally any other weapon.
they're extra fun in 3U thanks to slime, yes.
If you didn't want to get smacked with the antisonofabitch stick, you should have gotten clear instead of hanging around like a son of a bitch.
older monster hunter games split the game into village quests and guild hub quests. Village quests were for soloing, and guild hub quests were meant for multiplayer. Mind you, you could solo the vast majority of guild hub quests, it just takes more work.
For MHW, that distinction no longer exists. The only content designed around multiplayer is Kulve Taroth, Behemoth, and Ancient Leshen. They can be soloed, but it can be very challenging, especially the Extreme version of Behemoth.
Other than those monsters, everything not only can be soloed, but in fact, is generally easier solo.
The only reason the effect extender bug had such a complicated recipe in the first place was so you could get a power/stamina breed of bug that still had the highest possible speed. Speed is just too important for bugs, especially since power bugs aren't strong enough to be worthwhile and stamina does literally nothing.
I just tri-buff and spam triangle-circle in MHW while my kinsect shits explosions.
Well fuckin hell, about how much of the game would I miss if I left those multiplayer parts alone for awhile? I heard MHW was fucking great and I think I might get it on it while its cheap.
Your damage doesn't justify your disruption potential.
And this is coming from someone that used to main GL a lifetime ago.
Other people do your job, but better, and being less annoying than you are.
I know this because i know the weapon intimately and there's a reason why i switched since then.
Also, you know how everyone respects L over GL and thinks L takes more skill? They were right all along
>spits out traps like hairballs
>saves capture quests
>shits out dps when they want to
>does a cooler spin than any other player
>saves the quest
How do they do it?
>play dual blades
>carry all the time while glaive, longsword, greatsword, range users just miss all their hits
>get crit draw on any set
>literally becomes the right hand of god
name any other weapon that can match up with GS
literally me
>The only reason the effect extender bug had such a complicated recipe in the first place was so you could get a power/stamina breed of bug that still had the highest possible speed.
Right, but by far the biggest reason why people go with speed now (aside the improved affinity %), is that they severily nerfed the tribuff bonus duration from 4U.
That was half the reason to go that route in 4U.
Once they nerfed the shit outta it, there was no reason not to go full speed anymore.
crit draw is trash now
I know, I still like it regardless of its myriad flaws and general inability to play nice with a team. Lance is a solid weapon, and I wish more people would give it a try.
You're a sad broken man, undeserving of even carrying a gunlance into a hunt.
I've built an IG with a pretty cute moth kinsect, but I haven't gotten around to actually using it yet. How different is it from SnS?
More like
>has 50000 million lives yet manages to cart all the same
>does no damage whatsoever
>text macroes are all a bunch of shitty cat puns and furaffinity tier nyaowreplaying
Ancient Leshen is a crossover with the Witcher. You don't get a lot for doing it, some layered armor so you can look like a witcher character, a set of dual blades from the witcher, and upgrading a wticher sword and shield that you get by doing the actual single player witcher crossover quest.
Behemoth is final fantasy crossover. It gives you straight up what's generally the best armor in the game for melee weapons. But technically, you can even farm everything you need for the armor without killing it if you are desperate. The extreme version just unlocks a layered set to change your appearance and a title.
Kulve Taroth is a siege monster and a big part of the endgame grind, giving very good, and sometimes even the top tier weapons for a weapon type, though if varies. It's nowhere near as dangerous or difficult as Ancient Leshen or Behemoth, but the siege mechanics make it a slog, and that's only going to go even slower in single player. And then the rewards are rng based on top of that.
What does it feel like user? Being stuck in LR I mean.
>Places a large bomb under a stunned monster's head while melee users are mid-animation for their heavy hitting attacks.
>my stick good, your stick bad
kill yourselves
Tbh the Iai anime shit is what might make me use the longsword more when Iceborn drops. Otherwise I like HH, SnS, CB, IG and Bow.
Fuck you for getting me blown into the acid because my AED clipped your bomb.
EXPLAIN
did you start with world? why the hell would you ever need to slot health into a build, just eat and don't get hit lmao, even worst case scenario you take a max potion sippy and ur good 2 go
>saves capture quests
Oh hey, that's me.
There's a circle in hell reversed just for people like you
power was drained away from the first charge and put into true charge, no one crit draws anymore
yeah bow users go down in one
I kinda wish aerials were better if Im honest. Spamming tornado slash over and over gets boring real fast.
Not him, but if you think we're not the reason Kushala Daora is a cake walk, you got another thing coming.
>implying cats ever die
The chad feline hitboxes ensure no kitty ever dies to pathetic monsters.
That would be HBG teams with or without support players.
Malf is so fuckin cute bros
>witcher
luckily I don't care about the witcher, but thanks user sounds like I should get enough enjoyment out of it and if not I can always refund
>HAME fags
Into the trash it goes.
This is monster hunter, not call of duty.
Just hit high rank. Is there a decent general purpose set to build before going deeper in? I'm open to most weapons
>draw attacks
>requiring predicting monster movements
cringe. this is what brain damaged GS users think
You were the one to call those hunts cakewalks to start with.
You should just up your game and start hunting better monsters. Rusty doornails don't count faggot
>thinking you can react to a rajang without making the hunt last 30+ minutes
peak gun fun was MH4U seregios LBG and if you think otherwise you do not have the right opinion
if you don't think world is peak gun fun you are a faggot
>tfw you will never be a CB-wielding incel
Feels good.
The odogaron armor is the first one that is actually useful imo. After that, the rathalos set can take you through the rest of the game.
Peak LBG is 4U. Peak other gunning is GU. Valor style makes the braindead gameplay actually enjoyable.
>peak gun fun was MH4U
To be honest the peak fun of most weapons was MH4U.
Period.
Aside LS, obviously.
Dunno why people go on and on about "4U babies" these days, i've been playing since the PS2 games and i have no problems admitting that 4U was fucking amazing in so many ways and probably the most fun i've ever had with the entire series.
Why is it wrong to admit that?
Why is it wrong to say that 4U was a very well crafted game that got most things right?
maybe just endgame was kinda shit but that's the case for most MH games
And has the best armor.
Because Apex monsters and GQ were unfun trash for loads of people. It didn't matter whether you could finish anything. It was frustrating and long.
>decide to replay world, but on PC this time
>remember how absolutely boring the weapons look
Please tell me people made weapon model mods
Armcannon was pretty fun too, but I think that was in Generations.
I was just using that one one for shot.
DB's can carry a plethra on monsters with the right set ups and don't just go into
>Brave siege mode spam
Also, good luck chopping off parts with Piercing spam.
That's why 3U is forever the peak, if anything because it kept out most of the trash from gen 1 and 2 they brought back in 4.
How fucking far behind is the pc version bros?
PC iceborne still doesn't have an actual release date
3U is great but underwater combat was terrible and most importantly Abyssal Lagiacrus was ABSOLUTE UTTER DOGSHIT.
And don't even try to defend it, Abyssal Lagiacrus was so shit that literally everyone was cheesing it, just getting it over with like a goddamn chore.
IG can do that. SnS can do that and carry a team even better. You ain't special.
Don't worry about my pierce 1 loads either little man. I can perfectly aim all my slicing rounds into monster rear every time I want to.
In terms of current content, it's "synced". However, Iceborne is "Winter". This is after promising that the PC version would always be caught up this time.
played greatsword when the game first came out and it was hard as all fuck and i quit for a while
revisited the game again recently with longsword and its incredibly easy and actually fun now
You gave up and your masculinity is forever damaged.
You could've been basking in the glory with the chads, but now you'll forever be just another weeb.
>IG can do that
>SnS can do that better
The french and team knockdown with shield bash is 'better'. I'm here to laugh at you
>Plays cheese gunner
>Gets raped by EX Crystalbeard every time.
I just pick him to put people like you in your pace. I don't care if i lose my vouchers, it's fun to watch the gunner get chinned.
>Toots horn
>Gives everyone a billion buffs
>Claws monster's eyes out with 90% Affinity
>Has inherent Psychic so always beelines for the monster
>Backflips to evade instant death
>Mum underwater combat is bad
Underwater combat was fine, it's an entirely different environment and you're fighting in the monster's turf, plus 360 degrees of mobility added depth, it just fucks with certain brain dead flowchart combat types like Great Sword.
>He was such a disgusting casual he had to go gunner in a corner of the map.
Why do the pussies always go gunner?
It sounds like you just need to stop playing with shitters loser. Learn to to recognize and boot bad players at the start lmao. Those weapons are absolutely better and CB Uragaan EX isn't hard. It's not even part of the worst 5.
You do no fucking damage.
You're useless.
And the worst part is that we were promised you WOULDN'T be useless after Gen, yet here we are, any goddamn hunter would do 5 times the damage that you do, in 1/4th of the time and with much less effort.
I look at you and all i see is wasted potential and people that think they're being funny or unique or otherwise "i'm totally supporting guys".
You know how you'd be supporting me?
By being a proper goddamn hunter and shitting out the damage i need, you hopeless little shitter.
>Underwater combat was fine
90% of the playerbase hated it and you're not special for liking it, it just means you're a weird contrarian faggot that probably has AIDS in his brain.
>gunner
That's the thing, people didn't main gunner.
They did that because the fight was so shit it was the quickest way to get it over with.
You enjoy playing with your own feces, most other people don't, they'd rather actually do fun hunts.
Sit the fuck down now, brainlet.
I hope Deviljho spawns atbase camp the next time you "hunt".
Of course EX Crystalbeard isn't hard, he's just designed to roll on gunner fags like you.
And that's what makes him entertaining.
>Probably wearing the Wiggler Head (Wide Range)
>Desperately chugging potions and buffs for your team, saving people from carting every minute
>[TOOTING INTENSIFIES]
>Music buffs everywhere
>Tried to smack the monster on the head once
>Got blown to smithereens, so now toots from a short distance away
>Is assumed to be literally useless
I'd be able to take him on.
Simply because it probably has something to do with the fact that i'm not a retarded cat that takes 5 years to bring down anything.
>He doesn't know how to play Beasts
I will continue to land mount after mount and get faster times on some monsters than I do even as a Hunter. And never cart once, since I can replenish acorns at any time when sleeping at the base camp. Or worry about sharpness, or bouncing, or doing anything less than a critical hit every time.
A good HH is constantly attacking and buffing at the same time.
But i'm not gonna lie, i whip out my HH mostly when i want free mats and an excuse to be a a bit lazy while still feeling like i'm helping the rest of the party kill shit quickly and take less damage.
In your dreams loser. Go back to LR and learn to play rather than bitching about other players.
Based HH bro. You guys are the reason why DQ EX and other poison happy monsters become fun hunts.
>I will continue to land mount after mount
Yeah, way to make it even more obvious that you're a shitter that is just a giant inconvenience for all the other players.
Go on.
>or doing anything less than a critical hit every time
You can fucking do that with anything.
DB, LS, IG, just to name a few, and all of them do 10 times the damage you're doing.
'the fuck is the point in bragging about that when actual hunters can do the same shit and actually do damage too.
I wonder if they're gonna bring any new monsters in that is more rape than Extremoth
Sounds like you're just mad cats finish the hunt before you ever can. Just try and keep up.
My sources confirm that they're bring back Maccao.
>farming behemoth items
>not even properly farming him, just using the palarang method
>already have two carts because I’m being careless since, again, I’m just using the palarang method
>this crazy motherfucker joins in on the quest and rains arrows nonstop on him
>we’re still on the first area and he’s already managed to get behemoths little lifeline to decline immensely
>onto the second area
>faint immediately since I get hit by that thunder attack as soon as we get there
>at least I got those two last shearclaws I needed
It still would have been fucking nice if I met this faggot earlier instead of the low rank greatsword users who immediately go for the head and try to get a full charge hit.
New to this series, what is the easiest weapon to use?
>they bring back Maccao over the -aggi family
I would be so pissed
Fists.
Hunting Horn
Tbh I've seen a healthy mix of every weapon being carted. The weapon comes down to the player. A person can be a god on great swords and absolutely suck ass as a hammer user. Unless your the master all type then there will always be a weapon you suck at, some folks are just dumber than others in choosing said weapons they know nothing about
>has no defensive options
>LS gets a 40 iframe move
why?
Please stop user, I can't handle it, I need to believe GL is a weapon as good as it is cool
Tbh that's a lie and you know it.
LS here and I agree. My time with the souls series helped me a lot with my I frames and not dying. My biggest problem is getting above the 20-25% damage done threshold in a 4 man squad.
Also I’ve noticed that statement to be true with any Ching Chong’s you might come across. They either carry or fuck up the run entirely
give me one, ONE, good reason why ranged should exist in ANY monster hunter game
How do we improve SA and makes it not feeling like a shitter version of CB?
no you can use crit draw with the right set and do a hit n run it works wonderful since you hardly get hit
>is a liabilty the entire hunt
>lands one (1) SAED 15 minutes in and insta-kills the monster
SA got a shit ton of subtle buffs
twitter.com
This. Chang came into a BB Diablos EX and helped out with three of them straight. He perfectly timed all the counters and critical junctures. Seeing that guy hunt the first time helped me dodge through everything like a madman. A real wingman.
Shit man, I wouldn’t feel safe even if that fucker was somewhere else on the other side if the globe.
>subpar damage
>low mobility
>no defense
>the only big damage move (mounting discharge) leave you vulnerable and completely unusable in higher rank
>it's signatures mounting attack is not even exclusive to SA in iceborne now
Why does Capcom hate SA so much?
I love Alatreon so much.
glad they nerfed this meme weapon hard in IB
you forgot
>changes equipment to a bow
>has other players do his quests so he can carve armor ingredients
>just wanted to have fun
>just wanted to hunt monsters
>get shit on and ridiculed when going online, kicked out of hunts, nobody wants to even team up with me
>all because I picked The Wrong Weapon and people thought it would be funny to single that weapon out as a communal punching bag
It's okay, I don't need friends. I didn't even have cats in Freedom2. I don't need anyone in this stupid world...
>LS is shit in every single MH game except for MHGU and MHW.
>caring about what people think about your weapon
>isn't carrying the team
>not having fun shit talking while bootyblasting them
shiggydiggydoo
Do you guys use any gem/weapon mod on PC? I get that it's a grinding game but hearing about people completing their first build after 400-500 hours is retarded.
>t.newfag who never played 2G
Get dunked.
Ski.ll
hit & run is for pussies. Keep your weapon out like a man
>LS is shit in every single MH game except for MHGU and MHW.
>Better prove this by pointing out all one of the games it wasn't a top tier melee weapon
>the least popular weapon in world is hunting horn
The fuck?
>die in one hit from full life
>lol just drink silly
4U CB was the best, SAED spamming retards can eat shit.
I just keep them and see what happens. 4U will always be a treasure trove of hilarity whenever urgents get posted by someone the very second they join. Based Dalamadur and Ukanlos on filtering carry fags.
I'll never forget all the CB users who joined turn rooms to post their shit just to bail after. A real nigga never forgives. Out of all the weapons yours deserved the boot.
the justframe blocks we're so satisfying to do. And the easy access to supers and ultras.
More like the whiny FUckers can't stand new gameplay mechanics and wanted their older, shittier monsters back.
Which happened in 4 and it exposed how awful they are were.
It's not my fault you're shit at the game and decide to bitch and moan instead of getting good.
>not a singe Lance post
I feel like it's such an underappreciated weapon. Nobody ever remembers Lance players because not only are they rare, they're entirely unremarkable. They don't trip you, they don't cart, they don't do big flashy supermoves that make you go "What the FUCK" they just kinda exist.
Shut the fuck up.
I wish
Bow has KO caltrops and it's real easy to KO with either Bowgun then especially so with that Impact Mantle
then, because of the high MP scaling, you'll get like 2 KOs out of the hunt before the monster is dead
>Posts worst monster
>Can't refute
L O L
All wrong.
Jho > Rajang
Deal with it.
>More like the whiny FUckers can't stand new gameplay mechanics
Well if barely anyone liked it, why would you keep it?
>mhw
Not a chance fuckboy.
no crit draw build in MHW comes close to one based around general damage/crit. Crit draw was only ever good on GS because of the power of the initial charge which was reduced in world. Crit draw needs to be buffed to like 300%
Rathian is my wife.
Because it's the basis for new ideas and gameplay, more importantly monsters that you can't do just on land.
You don't dump something immediately, you fine tune and expand on it.
>Carries the entire hunt, keeps his shitter teammates alive, knocks out the monster, cuts the tail, and flashes super attacks
I did it for some time. Made a silly set that is built around getting the monster's attention while my team worked it over and blocking everything it threw at me. I just had too many other weapons to practice with to commit as a Lancer at that point.
>Slinger Burst out of Wild Swing
>that sexy new Fade Slash
>best defense is a good offense: the weapon anyway with it's big range and stagger
I always find it funny when people say things like this when CB's axe mode is completely superfluous and barely even justifies it's convoluted yet simple phial process, and their attempt at making it matter more with Savage Axe mode is basically just it being realized as a wannabe SA without fixing how axe mode is a single move. I use and enjoy both weapons but CB is extremely overdeveloped.
This thing is just a pebble launcher
Keep being wrong and having shit taste.
It's never happened and never will.
They literally gave you a way to go direct into true charge slash with no other attacks(you can do alinger burst straight into it) and it's dAmage is buffed if you hit both swings, AND you can now tendering a monsters part to do more damage to it
This is the weapon I use when I'm drunk because I can just slide attack or charge upswing and win ezpz
It's not fair, I want my oil back. I want my mega dash juice back. It's not fair...
You admit you'll never stop being wrong and always have shit taste?
Good job.
does this proc crit draw?
This, not only that but in iceborne every weapon is going to be able to use slingers while unsheathed
The SnS is doomed to irrelevancy
Crit draw is pointless because wordless you easily make 100% affinity sets. ALL your attacks on a weak spot will crit
this really needs to come out to the west, i'd never need to play anything else again
I didn't know if pic related was real but you proved that it was. Good job user.
>mfw CHAOS OIL
>SnS users
then they should give crit draw an additional crit damage or base damage boost
HH is literally the only real MH weapon left in the game. Opponent attacks, you dodge, you use the appropriate attack to smack them in the head, repeat. Simple, easy, fun. Has a neat little gimmick to keep things from being boring, and you can smash face with encores for style points (or at least it was "just for style" until they buffed recitals and made it the OP playstyle you spam constantly which immediately made it less fun).
>Tried to smack the monster on the head once
This makes me laugh because it used to be that hitting enemies in their weak spots was actually difficult, but World has become so casualized that if a weapon even has slow attacks that make it hard to hit i.e. the head, people think the players are bad. like news flash, they've turned every weapon into a lightning fast anime machine with ten combos.
I'm going to be honest I've never seen a good bow user since 3U, kelbi bow aside. MHW feels even worse where they brag about bow being the highest dps but they constantly die or fuck their set ups so bad then quit when the hunt was 5 minutes instead of 4:55.
IG was too good in MH4U and G/GU so it got nerfed in World a bit. Still attracts no skill shitters though. Only ever vault for some je suis monte or to avoid shit unless I'm tribuffed (which you should always try to be) and it's later on in the hunt. Maybe I'm doing it wrong though because IG isn't my main weapon.
FUCK FUCK FUCK
WHY CAN'T I HAVE A BITCHY CHARGE BLADE GF TO BULLY ME?
>90% of the playerbase hated it
90% of the fanbase is casual.
If you can't solo behemoth don't even reply to me.
Based fellow SnSbro.
>hasn't tried out new SnS
The claw means nothing is out of reach and having Slinger Burst at any time into Perfect Rush for huge damage feels so good. SnS is back with a vengeance. There's not much else I'd really ask for except more damage on unsheathe attack and maybe the final Perfect Rush hit to work like a claw attack since it grabs on already. Mantles are essentially oils anyway.
>HH is literally the only real MH weapon left in the game.
You forgot Lance, but I don't blame you. So did everyone else.
>build
At least you could immediately reapply an oil and nearly all of them were useful and unique the weapon, mantles ain't shit.
The true essence of action games is ironically REACTION, not ACTION. What's important is how cool and well-designed the monsters are. MH keeps straying farther and farther away from that idea. They keep giving the player more and more options, more buffs, more secret moves, more flashy animations. But these do not make the game better. They just distract from the core gameplay.
A good HH bro is a joy to hunt with, but now you've got people who either go
>Oh I'm the healer buffer guy
who never even approach the monster and
>Haha, yeah HH mains sure are bros I totally main HH and am a bro
but don't bother to learn how to fucking use HH effectively. You're not a bro, you're just another carried shitter. Although sometimes it's just someone trying to learn the ropes but fucking up and that's forgivable.
Still more useful than a longsword user
LS was actually pretty good in FU, but it was a shitter magnet.
MHW Bow has Critical Element abuse.
user, the game is closing down this year.
It feels like with SnSfags it's either hyper competent players or someone who is so useless it feels like they're just playing MH for the first time and you're wondering what they're doing in High/G rank when it feels like they don't even know how to play the game.
You sound like GS user who's been tripped out of a triple charge one too many times.
Nobody looks at lance and sees it as fun, because it gives off the impression it's some boring defensive weapon where you just sit behind a shield and counterattack. It's only once you get into it that you realize that all it's greatest tools are its mobility options. And weird, clunky mobility at that.
>it is
well shit, this is sad news
I wanted to play it ever since it was released, I had hope that it'd come to the west eventually, and now it's over. I at least hope the dudes who made the music will keep working on monster hunter, frontier has all the best songs, it's not fair. Also download of MHFZ ost FUCKING WHEN
I like mounting monsters with my "je suis mounted" shout out. I like to think I scare dumbasses into thinking I'm a frenchie.
Should I stop?
There's still plenty of time to knock it off your bucketlist before its closure mid-December. Actual setup of the game isn't difficult, moonrunes just take getting used to.
>would always knock up freeloading shitters trying to carve at the end
>they release a patch because reddit kept crying about it
This has always been a thing in monster hunter but now World is so fucking casual and normie friendly that they even take this away. Fucking reddit always crying about shit just cause they can't handle a little post-hunting banter.
>fist moe
In world it pretty much comes down to learning how to counter, but LS has always been pretty noob friendly.
Personally I try to pick up two new weapons every game. Just Lanced my way through the story mode, and I really like it. Other than that, I've used hammer, LS, GS, SA, and SnS for a little while, but couldnt perform as well as I did with the other weapons.
I would always eat for super kicker and the secret area and kick people out of it in 3u and 4u
lmao you don't know how to aerial hammer, do you?
>Most, if not all of Frontier monsters are doomed unless the game gets prÃvate servers (which i doubt)
>reddit the weapon
that's what the zipperheads get for crying about hypnatrice and lavasioth being in FU get
Devilish.
>check Bowlance pick rate
>least picked weapon
>"looks like i've found MY weapon!"
>realize it's boring as fuck
>drop it
Man the concept is so fun why is the weapons AS fun? I haven't played MHW yet, did it get better?
They're probably what I'll miss more than the actual game. The latter of which isn't bad by any means, but it's an acquired taste.
The guy who runs the website put in a lot of effort to making the game more accessible, at least.
Just beat anjanath and MHW is my first game
Here's how I rank the weapons from most fun to least fun
Sword and shield > Hammer > Insect glaive > Longsword > Bow > L. Bowgun > Lance > Greatsword
Haven't tried the other ones pls r8
I dunno, man. A lot of the flashy moves are useless if you don't create the opening yourself. I play DB in the newer games, and I don't build on the demon meter unless I know I can pull off the "dance" move, other than that is just slash once or twice and dogde for a good part of the fight.
I only play Guild in MHGU, I haven't touched Adept or Brave, because I fear it's going to destroy the relationship I have with the weapon across the series.
He posted an image of sword and shield not chargeblade.
You think that's bad? I love using Eldora in Gen/U and I save cannon shot to fuck people out of carves. Nothing gives me a greater pleasure.
>upswing someone off the secret area in 3rd gen tundra
>they don't hit the ground for a good 30 seconds
Nothing feels as good.

Fuck bros, why can't this be real. Why can't we explore new lands and see the amazing nature can give us. Why can't we live a life full of excitement and adventure with the winds on the front and the stars at our back. WHY THE FUCK is real life so boring. Why are we stuck at this shitty thing where nothing fucking happens and you don't matter. I don't want to survive, I want to LIVE. FUCKING FUCK FUCK FUCK THIS WORLD.
I dont think I would want to live in a world like monster hunters.
dude just go explore a national park and get disappeared by a mountain lion if you want adventure so much
Gottem
How do I get Meownster Hunters HR Tundra to get a secret Rare thing? I need mats for status crit 2 decos but I've already wasted 200 kelbi horns for passing time. Hame rooms won't let me check after every hunt and I've already got all my bread and butter talismans.
You don't want cats and cute girls to cook for you?

MHW players are legit trash 80% of the time. I won't even allow for parties in anything that's harder than Lunestra. Can't even do sleep bombing without some jobber mindlessly hacking away and inevitably carting.
>wake up
>a fucking beast as large as a building and as fast as a sports car decides to get in your camp
>have to pick up your 400lbs greatsword and hit it in the head/tail for 24 minutes to kill it
>Your bones that a few competent hunters found in a dung pile are carted into your grave site
sounds real fun. I'll stick to shitposting on Yea Forums
I don't want the risk of a deviljho or something tearing me in half instantly
>Get knocked out
>super cats cart you away and youre instantly fine
What is there to worry about
>you're not allowed to kill the lion
>you're not allowed to bring weapons into the park

>you have to comply with the public safety and "live" in mediocrity

Come hunt Narga lads
Money. You need to pay those cats. Insurance isn't everything. Also they're part of the guild and all that. They're not actually supposed to do all that.
Not with the amount of chip damage AT monsters give
t. Lance user
They didn't, but the beta runs on patch 1.0 that's why the values of some weapons are lower in it, like cb phials
How did Bloodbath get TWO themes?
Reality is what you make of it, brother.
So join the guild
Never used Guard?
The guild isn't a free ride. They expect you to handle your own finances.
>user has an existential crisis and all we can do is watch
You clearly haven't fought enough AT monsters of course I have guard up and the extra defense it doesn't do shit to the ridiculous chip attacks monsters like at nerg do.
I've beaten all the GU exclusive deviants and Dreadqueen up to EX. Do I have any tough deviants left or is it smooth sailing? Which one gives me a good green pigment?
This is his own fault. Nobody made him pick up the gameboy.
It's okay user, tell me about your feels
>Caltrops
>Multiplayer
Please tell me you don't actually do this?
Guard Up and Guard are two different things, just to be clear for onlookers. Guard5 should be taking the brunt of it, have you been power guarding? It actually let's more damage through than the standard guard.
>laughs In glutton
Seriously tho hbg always broken ez mode in all games
First a Leafeon tries to convince me to join the Air Force, now a Bulbasaur tries to talk me into destroying capitalism. Grass-types, man.
Guard up +3 is all you need anything else is a waste of skills that could go to something more useful. No I eventually learned to just time the regular guard but my playstyle relies on me being on the monster 24/7 which isnt possible with the amount of chip damage he does or the attacks that you need to power guard because they have hitboxes that will get you from behind.
Fuck that horse shit. Got my EXtremoth armor in a dual TOOT team, both of us mashing his paws so he'd trip all over the place. Shit was metal as fuck, and I'll never do it again.
Grass-roots movements, my man. Grass types are for revolutionaries. Just look at bellsprout. Just look. Liberty Bell.
>how come it's doing so much damage
>pmdyouthefix.mp5
>no but I dont want to do that
Then take the extra damage man
You do know anything after guard up +3 only reduces stamina usage right?
Horse shit, I could swear it helps. If I'm wrong I'll dine on my words, but to be fair this is my first game using lance, so please be patient lance senpai.
Bump
>Every single hunter is the protagonist
Come on user, plenty of times in the games you see hunters crippled and retired because of it. Just because your hunter has toonforce and just gets knocked out comically after flexing seconds before the dalamadur train runs all the way through your ass doesn't excuse that monoblos fucking gored a hunter's partner and made him retire from the trauma on the spot.
Unless you mean the silly cartoon world of monster hunter sitcom we all end up thinking, what with all these monsters just being the same every fucking hunt as if it were a card-punching routine, suffering minor wounds and "dying", while everyone is annoyed by cat puns.

Behemoth is the most fun fight and has currently the best blade master armor. At Xeno has the best gunner armor. Aim for those.
Nexus mods exist. There are several hundred mods and this one guy imported all the old armor sets and weapon skins from old games.GX Fatalis, gore magala, akantor x etc.
It's better, but it's so SO fun to be aerial gunlance in MHGU
>MH World on sale
might buy it
I just realized I'm still putting hours into 4U and I've only just started scratching at G-Rank. Anyone feel like setting up a room?
Playing GU feels so much slower for whatever reason. Is it the 30 fps lock or something? How do I make it feel faster?
Absolutely fucking based, I've been using it since the start. None of the other weapons have the same feel.
i've gunner mained for several games and never dropped in one hit outside of very extreme situations like 140 apex, stop using blademaster defense as a crutch and get used to dodging attacks. it's REALLY not hard with a ranged weapon, and in MHW your mobility is off the charts compared to previous entries so you have Z E R O excuse to be getting fucked sideways unless you are a complete newbie to the franchise, especially with how slow the monsters move compared to G rank
Reminder that all of the fated four are in Iceborne
>spams the exact same attack string 50 times in a fight without ever doing anything else
wow you're so amazing
I'm in awe of your ability to memorize a sequence of button presses and never do anything requiring original thought

>flinches
oh yeah because the shield or ability to flash in shield means nothing
I guess claw now instead

Nice
You're absolutely right. Gunlance is the true hero of MH
what did you change to?
So what's the likelihood that we'll get subspecies like Brute Tigrex and Green Nargacuga in MHW?
Considering theres only like, what, three subspecies in the game?
Little to none, the MHW dev team is already too lazy to make good weapon designs, you honestly think simply recoloring monsters won’t be too much for them too?
Hey now, I expect them to be more competent than Gamefreak.
Longsword is for chads. Power, combos, speed, reach, mobility, evasion. It's got it all. Yeah, I'm thinking LS is based. Getting tripped? Then maybe you should stand the fuck back when a real nigga is at work.
Also, LS is essential for Sephiroth themed characters.
>Then maybe you should stand the fuck back when a real nigga is at work
or maybe LS players need to stick to SP hunts where they belong
Nah its always
>Carts once.
>then leaves.
>leaves me and everyone else with a beefed up health monster.
>unsheaths lance
>suddenly the game controls like a slavic action rpg made in 1997
Can we all agree that lance, and its autistic little brother gunlance, are basically just 'activating jank mode'? How does anybody play those meme weapons?
Snow Cephadrome is actually a fun fight.
Gotta play aggressively you never move away from the monster and as some user said earlier in the thread lance has great mobility if you know how to use it.
>leaves me and everyone else with beefed up health monster
That's not how it works you fucking bowlet
>Love hammer
>play online iceborne
>Clutch claw is now a thing
>Get to unga monsters face for free without waiting for an opening
>free bunga ko's all the time
Grug chad of dino land. Give stacey
I use GS in MHW :)
Lance is the only weapon I respect. Pure arcade action. Two attacks is all you need.
That's not a picture of bowniggers
>Trying to lance against AT Luna.
It's so bad against the nova that I'm tempted to slot in quick sheeting just so I can actually dodge the pulses.
Lance is fun
That's exactly how scaling works you dumb shittard. Try soloing any monster after 3 people leave your squad. Buffed status and stagger resists along with hp.
MHFU online multiplayer works perfectly through PPSSPP, you should try it. It's so much better than the last few main entries.
Not him but I've been playing for 3 days and know that you're being unspecific enough to be wrong
i fucking hate how brainlessly OP bow is in World. It used to be such a fun and interesting weapon, like a ranged GS with a few useful gimmicks. Now you just fucking slide around like a dipshit shooting at the enemy. It's dumb. I hate it. Millions of casuals playing it because it's all fucking anime now
Power Shot was the perfect level of style and skill. Running a loop while charging to dodge attacks, closing in, shooting, and taking the risk of a PS if your opening was big enough. Simple, cool, effective. None of this fuckin chuuni dancing
Tell me about it user, is it active?
Yeah it's active enough to find games whenever you want, although you'll probably want to use external resources to find a regular hunting party. I'm playing with two anons I found here and having a great time. It's a way more pure MH experience than either generations or world.
Sounds nice then, I'll look into it.
what the fuck is going on in Yea Forums
there are currently 29 sony wojack threads up
>MHFZ shutting down
>it'll eventually become nothing but a fleeting memory, all the ideas and monsters eventually forgotten
>only thing people can ever do is look back at the wild ride that was frontier and will never get to experience it
I'm glad I put my time into that game to be a part of its history, many of the monsters will be missed
I just hope some monsters can get into mainline now, it would be pretty sad for every single one of them to be lost
bump
The new Iceborne SA retreating slash is great. It's much faster and hits better too with less recovery so you can slide right after it.
>All those people who actually waited for a localization when PSO2 of all fucking games gets one
>The JP server is still trying to pull off the gacha jew
>People on the TW server can't even buy more sub time if they didn't load funds already
Those aside, I just think it's going to be weird that a game only a few years younger than the entire franchise only got six months notice for closure, and when 2020 hits all these games that form up this bizzaro, alternate MH universe is almost pretty much going to die entirely, only with Explore still living.
The upgraded Fade Slash is a boon. Wonder how much of a stagger monster it'll be in the final game, though. Seems like morphing weapons as a concept got it better now, since CB actually has a mode that discourages SAED spam but I'm not sure on the idea of having like 3.5 different possible upkeeps.
>Explore is still alive while Frontier and MHO are getting the boot
what the fuck?
But it does, and thats what iceborne will try to address
It's a mobile game, it's likely the cheapest of the lot to run and thus the hardest to kill. and if we ever hear about DDON closing down any time soon, then that will further imply COG is failing.
why would the chinks need MHO when they can just play World
actually World doesn't support simplified chinese but whatever
oh wait the mainlanders have their own version, I forgot
>Hunting Horn, Hammer, Lance and Greatsword in the party
I'm happy

I'm unhappy
>Checkout the TA on Nega

What is the point in adding more axe move when sword is still way more effecient anyway.
Deadeye has a green pigment IIRC. Boltreaver has green/blue alternating
what you mean is you're a spirit slash spamming shitter who spends more time tripping teammates than landing hits, right?

>decided to stick to it in world

>stuck with the nagging thought that I'd be better off swapping to hammer than continuing to use it
But besides that it's nice that I finally got a hang of just flowing between swings.
>Other people do your job, but better, and being less annoying than you are.
Other people can't blast the hardest part of the monster and have the weapon not bounce and the damage not suck dick.
Every other cuckboy has to sac a deco to not eat niggerdick every time MEGABRONY2002 wants to le epicly hit le head because he wants to swing as wide as he possibly can limiting people who can be near good weakspots to 2 at most
You're straight fucking trash at GL, subhuman
I really want to like Lance, I've given it so many chances but I just can't get into it sadly.
Really it's just a testament to how many ways you can play MH. Lancechads are my homies.
You DID manage to hunt a Nargacuga in the Iceborne beta, right user?
Lance is great. The ability to guard advance after anything in any direction and then follow it up with that sweet jumping thrust is amazing. Combine that with power guarding letting you strong or jump poke in any direction. World Lance is more aggressive and is as fun as ever.
Bump
fucking this. my hunting partner just carts with longsword cuz he can't figure out the foresight slash. meanwhile i rarely die in world anyways
Even if the draw charge spam was as powerful as it used to be, you still wouldn't be using Crit Draw skill anyway. Because the crit meta is so strong, you can easily reach 100% crit on weak points even without Crit Draw, even on weapons with, like, negative 30% affinity.
Reverting Weakness Exploit to +50% affinity was a mistake. We had that exact shitshow in Gen, and now it's back in World too, even strengthened even further by the existence of Drachen.
And those were just HR games too. When in G-rank raw Attack Up bonus usually falls behind crit naturally anyway, because AuL is a flat raw bonus, which doesn't scale with the increased base raw of the G-rank weapons.
Honestly? Good. It ruined long sword and is op as fuck, stay away from that shit.
For some retarded reason GU is locked to 30fps on Switch, while MH4U on the 3DS is unlocked...
Well, that's why the Handler exists.
Nah, I'll just wait for the next beta.
I've killed enough Great Jagras for one fucking lifetime. I never want to see that fat bastard again.
I'm sure if MHGU was also 420p it'd easily knock out a locked 60.
>GU is locked to 30fps
Capped at 30fps.
it's locked 30. DF did a video.
I'm just at the beginning of the game and made two saves, I only played a bit of the first Monster Hunter years ago so I have barely any experience. I tried all weapons in the training ground and the only two that really stuck with my are the Gunlance and the Axe that can turn into a sword, are those good choice? They look absolutly rad
Probably not likely.
The only subspecies we got in vanilla World was Blue and Pink raths. Any subspecies we get in Iceborne will probably be offshoots of the new monsters, like Screeching Legiana.
We'll also almost definitely be getting Silver and Gold Rathian, because MHTeam fucking love those things for some reason. Maybe Savage Jho too, though that might be saved for an event to mirror the inclusion of regular Jho.
Point is, GU could obviously be unlocked and stay above 30fps like 4U is. Doesn't even need a rock solid 60
>made two saves
For what fucking reason?
>the Axe that can turn into a sword
>the
There's two of those. But I'll assume you mean SA.
>are those good choice?
They're not really anywhere close to the strongest meta, but there's no really bad weapons in the game. Except HH.
>lance
>defensive
Sure if you play it wrong.
Really shows that you've never played MHW. AT shit like Lunastra has so many 1-shot moves that have carted so many Internet tough guys like you who refuse to take Health Boost skill because they think they are such hot shit. I don't care what kind of skills you bring you, as long as you don't cart.
>For what fucking reason?
a friend insisted for playing coop right during the first mission, he carried the whole thing and just start another save to do that mission again, I'd rather learn most of the mechanics alone instead of relying to much on somebody else
>solos entire game, ancient leshen and extreme behemoth included
MHGU can easily squeeze out 3 hours of playtime in airplane mode. Unlocked it'd be closer to 1.5 hours, if that. There's always pros and cons. Personally I prefer longer playtimes between charges. 30fps is a non-issue. 420p and no Anti Aliasing can go chomp on a dick.
>gunner
>lecturing others about not relying on crutches
The gall.
>(You)
honestly can't wait to pick up HH again in world. LS is almost too fast in world and i've heard HH got some nice buffs, though it was already great in GU
Pretty much every weapon is a good choice unless you're a speedrunner or meta autist.
Monster Hunter is not an RPG, you don't have to start a new save to play with a lowbie, because you "overleveled". If your friend is oneshotting everything and the game's not fun because of that, ask him to equip a low rank weapon, and he'd be effectively the same "level" as you.
>doesn't want to play one weapon, because it's overpowered and is meta
>only thinks of playing the other weapon, because he heard it's getting buffed
You're not just a hipster, you're worse - you're a poser hipster.
Real chads just use the weapons, because they like them, regardless of everything else.
Worse comes to worse, do 720p 60fps.I'd imagine they could still squeeze out 40-45fps if they unlocked it which would be best imo. Switch already kinda has shit battery life
When will Capcom confirm that my son is in Iceborne
Good HH players are literally the most Chad and powerful race.
...I plan to use every weapon, it's how I've always played MH. Also hasn't literally every weapon in world gotten buffed?
STICKY FINGAZ
That's called spin to win user, embrace it.
30fps is a non-issue to me. I used to be a 60fps-only faggot, until I realised it was only going to make me miss out on a lot of great games.
To me the 30-60 debate is fake outrage for the clicks. Like a lot of other shit these days.
>I'M SO OUTRAGED EVERYONE! PAY ATTENTION TO ME!
Do you mean in Iceborne? I wouldn't say every weapon gets buffed. Sure, there are some MV tweaks, but they're not necessarily getting buffed across the board. Some moves get toned down, while some are getting buffs. Although I think HH does just get MV increases for every single attack. But I didn't really test it myself, so don't quote me on that. There are dedicated youtube channels that deduce the new MV values from the demo, check those.
name one weapon that's played less aggressive ideally
Someone post the Yea Forums guide
>great sword is irrelevant
Does anyone actually miss Hypnocatrice?
Nope.
>Yama
>frontier
i am confused
The original is Yama Tsukami. That one is Yama Kurai.
never played frontier, what's the difference?
To its credit, mainline does have a shortage of monsters dedicated to Sleep like Great Baggi, mainly it's secondary or even tertiary to a monster's kit otherwise. Otherwise Hypnocatrice is basically an alternative Kut-Ku whose subs tried to give it more flavor, and there's always Inagami for an elder dragon with sleep.
You see the second bottom row? Those are full of Burst and Origin species, Kurai belongs to the latter while Tsukami doesn't even get a G-Rank fight along with Shen. It fights on top of the Highlands as opposed to being either Dos's tower chase or FU's tower platform fight, use 'ヤマクライ' if you intend on searching up the fight somewhere.
>Monster Hunter thread starts with a weapon icon and doesn't have Monster Hunter written in the OP post
>Absolutely zero shitposting
This conclusively proves that all of the people who love to shit up these threads don't actually play the games and can't even recognise the weapon icons.
>GS
>LS
>HH
>GL
>CB
>any of the ranged weapons
If you're playing lance "defensively" instead of using it's abilities to literally never stop attacking the weak spot ever, you're playing it wrong. Using a block instead of a dodge for mechanical damage avoidance does not make it "defensive". It's main damn trait is that it doesn't need to wait around for openings to deal larger spikes of damage with flashy moves.
Die w*rldsperms
What HR should i be before trying the behemoth?
I got absolutely btfo when i tried it under HR50
>making people waste the entire hunt is banter
cry some more lil bitch
The same deal happens with Age of Empires threads back when WE WUZ shitposting was in full force. Anyone who uses the banner for African Kingdoms obviously doesn't want to talk about the game and the same lot can still identify the covers from the franchise, but starting a thread with anything from the games will go much more well.
>implying carves are the primary, let alone only source of materials

>Iceborne brings back Mega Dash Juice
>bow goes from being one of the best weapons in the game, to the single best
Could he even work on World's maps?
Wait, you can't knock people in the air with hammers anymore? What the actual fuck, that was a legitimate mounting technique
How does that thing even work at all? Is it a living creature? Is it a quadrupedal rocket engine?
i dont play these games but are the weapon and armor designs as streamlined in world as they look?
its like the same weapons with with a different crest on it and such
When carving after the main quest objective has been completed, the hunter is immune to any and all disruptions, including but not limited to big and small monster attacks, roars and player attacks.
Actually not 100% sure about the bomb explosions and environmental hazards, like lava geysers in the Recess.
Only on World but it looks like they're "trying" to fix it with Iceborne
For now there are a bunch of weapon in MHW that have unique models but only as the last upgrade
>Only on World but it looks like they're "trying" to fix it with Iceborne
Not really seen anything to suggest this. Armor design in World was always alright and the same is true in Iceborne, but the weapons still look like the same "bone/iron with monster bits glued on".
I don't see why not. Most of the maps in the game have enough open areas for him to flex his flight capabilities in, and he could either just flat out avoid caves or stay grounded when he does go in them.
Only maps I would see him being an issue in are Ancient Forest and Rotten Vale, but the Ancient Forest is a trash map and there's no reason he'd want to go into the Rotten Vale anyway so whatever.
He's a normal dragon, but his fire producing glands are connected to his wings instead of his mouth, allowing him to fly.
As for the metal scales, that's anyone's guess. Kushala does it too.
Yes and no. The end-game weapons pretty much all are unique; there's like a dozen models for each weapon type, and a dozen weapon types. It's only "streamlined" compared to the old monhun games which have been building on the same set of literally PS2 tier models since fucking 2004.
what a shame
I'm pretty sure there's an iceborne trailer with the tigrex tank bowgun
unless it was a palico stuck behind the hunter ass
Tell that to like 80% of the weapon models in 4U.
I use LS because it's one of the few weapons that can be both effective and don't look massively retarded.
I love MH, but good god are the design for weapons and armors stupid.
>He's a normal dragon, but his fire producing glands are connected to his wings instead of his mouth, allowing him to fly.
So, you're saying Deviljho should be able to fly using its dragon breathe as a jet engine?
>LS
>doesn't look massively retarded
??????????
It's comically large and thin, dude.
Not that user, but it's a fictional monster, what the fuck do you want? A scientific explanation as to how it's possible?
How do you think he got to the new world in the first place?
He burrowed, duh. That's how he got around in the mobile games, when loading screens were still a thing.
any hammer chads in here?
No I don't mean size, although that's a problem as well for some few weapons, I mean general design.
The LS mostly look like a slighty too thick odachi.
I know I'm going to be outted as a realism fag, but I'm really not, I just think in MH's case most of the weapons are just too much.
LS is noob friendly because accuracy doesn't need to be a priority when using LS, it can work just fine as a hack and slash weapon. Just aim in the general direction of monster
you can't hit and run if you don't know how the monster moves retard, GS is terrible for beginners
It's all over the place. Most returning weapons keep their old designs, but some don't, like the Lunastra weapons and apparently even some of the Nargacuga weapons.
That's like saying humans should be able to projectile shit on demand just because some caterpillars can do it.
Someone, please, explain as if you would to someone clinically retarded how to make bowgun fun and effective, when I've tried them out I've felt like I was a glorified mini turret dealing chip damages and occasionally drawing the monster's attention for almost half an hour.
I'm obviously doing something very wrong but I just don't know what
Get Glutton. Load it up with Spread 3 and every offensive armor skill you can think of. Press R2 until the monster is dead (which won't be too long).
I played aerial hammer in LR in GU and now play adept hammer, its pretty dope
>but there's no really bad weapons in the game. Except HH.
Boy you best not be talking about world HH especially when iceborne comes out
I mean, HH is a really great tool to support your three teammates on a hunt. But it's not a good weapon. Especially if you look at it separately from online hunting.
Just get Glutton, it's really the only HBG in the game worth using.
If you really don't want to farm KT (I don't blame you) then use Xeno's HBG, it's almost good. Naturally you should try to pump as much affinity as possible into it since spread ammo with high affinity is broken.
If you want to play it a little more wild try using a Wyverndsnipe gun. They're all really hard to build, but lining up the perfect snipe is one of the most satisfying things in the game.
>Waaah why can't I run around for 5 minutes before getting a single quick hit and rolling away so I can run more Mommy
Crit Draw is a braindead playstyle and was only fun in past games because monsters had robotic turning animations that guaranteed you could get free hits. "Reading" and "Predicting monster movements" in past games was about as challenging as predicting the movements of a theme park animatronic
Yesterday i said fuck it since i'm a massive shitter and made a highly defensive build with cluster spam. Soloed AT kirin for the 7 tickets and then AT Lunastra for the 5. I was both amused and disgusted, it's like playing another game
Bows have always had a niche in pretty much every monster hunter.
Even in FU bow was a speed kill weapon, but the problem with bow is that it requires end game skill stacking to be good, early-mid game bows generally suck in monster hunter games due to the multipliers on their mechanics not scaling well early, but late game once you have all the steroids stacked its one of the best weapons in every generation thanks to the insane scaling on shots
>grug brings his cluster set online, dunno why, maybe trying to impress players online
>disrupts the other players
>carts, because the monster doesn't get knocked down as easily online as it does at solo scaling
Everybody fell for the support weapon meme
I don't know. Footwork is a massive part of the games before world just turned all monsters into punching bags. I mean something like Brachydios is a worldsperm worst nightmare, it ducks and weaves.
>Used to run SnS and GS
>Decide to take LS for a little spin, just to try
>Find it fun as fuck, especially in world, and never looked back
I feel like a dirty sephiroth wannabe weeb but I don't regret it
>in world
It's been like that since forever.
It most certainly is a support weapon. And there's actually plenty of "supportfags" online, because they think they're playing an MMORPG or some shit. But their support boils down to Wide-Range 5 set, not bringing an AuL HH n Drachen, which would be much more beneficial.
LS was in a bad spot for 3rd and 4th gen because of the spirit combo, Generations and World fixed these issues by making the combo not require you to trip the entire team to get your spirit buff, 2nd gen longsword wasn't bad though, it didn't have the tripslash finisher or spirit buff, only the basic spirit gauge and combo.
>STILL havent found a glutton
>found several kjarr cbs instead
i guess im a cb main now
Did you not played Kelbi bow: The game? Alatreon was a bitch to Kelbi bow, I pulled so many no damages on him that it wasn't even funny, god I miss 3G blast
youtube.com
I guess this fits better.
>It most certainly is a support weapon.
It's a weapon that has a much higher capability of increasing your ally's damage than most other weapons do. I'd only call it a "support weapon" if you also consider a Hammer to be a support weapon.
When I think "support weapon" I think like fucking LBG whose sole purpose in life is spamming status shots and shit and being literally half as good as HBG for damage.
Imagine how shitty world would be if every monster had nudge like in 2nd gen
>Monster simply turns
>The nudge knocks you on your ass
>Then you get carted by a wind up attack
i was looking out for LS, Bows and HBG and all i got were Gunlances SA and CB.. fuck this shitty lottery
It's not a top tier weapon thats for sure but it sure as hell ain't "the worst weapon".
3U was the most swag gen because kelbi bow only required blast boost and free element, I wore nothing but guild armor for the charmer and luck skills because kelbi bow just carried everything
>Best concept and great lookint>its weapons and armor are shit.
The only reason to fight Valphalk is because he's so goddamn cool.
What's worse than HH, and don't say GL because is just fuckng false.
>knocks out monster 5 times, becomes team favorite
>Using french stick as a swinging monkey.
that's how you identify a shitter.
It's literally, objectively, factually is though.
And it's the way it should be, because no other weapon can boost the effectiveness of your hunting party by whopping 20%. If it did as much damage as any other weapon in addition, it'd make all of the other weapons obsolete.
>my fucking face when seeing that sharpness for the first time
What in the actual fuck were they thinking
Forgot my fucking face
I blame Captcha for fucking up
Is that the one that goes from purple straight to red or something?
I can't imagine being a hammerfucker. Imagine you were playing an old style crit draw focus GS, only every single attack you do is a charge 3 and you can do like twenty attacks at once. And you have that and you run around thinking "heh i'm better than everyone else". absolutely bonkers.
Not even purple, it only gets white and red.
YOU DONT QUIT DURING THE HUNT! YOU EITHER FINISH THE HUNT OR FAIL 3 TIMES WITH HONOUR.
THERE IS NO HONOUR IN QUITTING! LOSE WITH DIGNITY
Well, aside from the lack of purple, all weapons might as well follow the model. Everyone is only ever concerned with the topmost layer of sharpness the weapon has.
B-But this way I don't lose my potions I used on the hunt.
Yeah but with lower sharpness levels you at least have some leeway to work with if your sharpness goes down mid-fight. With Valstrax weapons you pretty much have to run speed sharpen or pray you can get the monster to run off before you go into the red.
>doesn't know about brachy ls in 3u
I mean any brachy weapon was broken in that game but ls was another level
In world honestly there really isn't any "bad" weapons. Only good weapons and better weapons. You can take any weapon and count on it to get the job done, albeit slower than the top tiers. Also why the fuck would i say GL? GL is great in world.
What facts? Just because HH is hard to use effectively (Being constantly aggressive and stringing songs during combos instead of backing off to song) does not mean the weapon can't outdamage other weapons. It won't make other weapons obsolete because even played at its best its still just a very good weapon, not a gamebreaking weapon. Stop spreading this meme.
it has gargantuan level of white, you don't even need to carry whetstones.
god damn it
thanks for answering though
HH with DuL and AuL are useful endgame. Can turn EX Soulseer 1shots into 3/4 damage for whole team
HH is NOT hard to use effectively. You just use your higher MV attacks and keep the buffs up. It's nothing the other weapons don't already have to deal with.
The facts that make HH "worse", as a weapon, I mean, the low MVs and attack animations, compared to the other weapons.
When I first started I picked up GS and I yeah it felt unfair wiffing and getting rammed by the monster but eventually you learn how the monster moves the more you fight em. For beginners I'd say pick up GS and if you don't know a monster's movements just shield with Lance for the entire hunt and just watch what they do
Aerial IG is by far the most fun play style in the entire game though
>What facts? Just because HH is hard to use effectively (Being constantly aggressive and stringing songs during combos instead of backing off to song) does not mean the weapon can't outdamage other weapons.
It's literally ranked last in almost every single AT speedrun. Hunting horn couldn't outdamage a felyne.

>In world honestly there really isn't any "bad" weapons. Only good weapons and better weapons
Nobody calls it bad though. They call it the worst. The worst of the best is still great. It just can't match what the others can do solo, though in a 4 man group its value is significantly greater.
I hate how shit GL get by G rank. It's one of the most fun weapons, but by endgame it's just a shitty lance
Its because monsters don't have weaknesses to weapon types anymore, gunlance was the weapon to use against high armor monster, but they've nerfed the blast damage and forced you to use the lance more for damage output, but at the end of the day that just makes it a more unwieldy lance
speedrunners act like multiplayer doesn't exist
I'll never switch off GS.
Way to move the goalposts.
It's not like being in a multiplayer hunt magically boosts the damage of hunting horn. It has its value as a support weapon in MP, and I'm not saying it's terrible in solo but it is factually worse than any other weapon in solo because of low motion values and damage. No amount of Attack Up (XL) can change that.
>in solo
QED
And you realise the irony of championing speedrunners in a thread about having LS shitters in your team cart twice and then abandon? the two things are joined at the hip.
Hey, sorry if it's a really dumb thing to ask but I got a question about the mounting mechanic.
I think I'm a little confused, when I jump on a monster, am I supposed to input an attack or not?
Sometime I jump on them and I swear my character just clip through them, but at the same time it seems that sometime it doesn't matter if I input an attack or not and my character just latch onto it.
I've looked through the tutorial menu but I couldn't find anything about this mechanic.
Obviously, I'm new to this so some help would be appreciated.
Mounting a monster works essentially the same way as a status ailment like paralysis or sleep. Every time you hit a monster with a jumping attack you essentially deal "mounting damage", and once that hits a certain threshold you instigate a mount.
In world most monsters only take one or two jumping attacks to get the first mount, though some attacks deal less mounting damage than others. Monsters also build up resistance to mounting and it isn't really a good idea to mount more than once per monster unless you're fighting Behemoth or something.
Mounting is also pretty inefficient outside of multiplayer.
>MHG starters
I see, that clarify a lot, thanks a bunch user.
I mean, I did play Tri but that was eons ago and on dolphin emulator since I never had consoles, you could say that World is the first time I play a MH game "properly"
It's a tons of a fun so far.
So what's different with wyvernsnipe? It seems to do radically different damages no matter if you hit a crit spot or nor
>It's so much better than the last few main entries.
It's really not.
FU isn't even a top 3 game since World came out.
People shit on XX because MUH ANIMU, but that game is up there with the best, in my eyes is even better than FU.
Yeah its biggest weaknesses are its long ass animations for sure. Heres to hoping the iceborne buffs will help with that.
Having personally played HH a lot and seen a a lot of amazing HH plays, i still firmly believe HH can outperform most (but not all) weapons.
Different fella.
>For some retarded reason GU is locked to 30fps on Switch
It was a 0 effort port.
3U on the Wii U had more effort put into it.
It's sad, but I do still love GU. t's much better than Yea Forums and /vg/ say it is.
>vanilla MHW beta absolutely destroyed me, only beat Nergigante after a good 20 or so attempts
>the actual game was almost entirely a cakewalk
>MHGU demo absolutely destroyed me, couldn't even come close to beating Valstrax
>actual game was mostly pretty easy until I hit G Rank where it got pretty challenging
>tried MH4U demo the other day because I'm thinking of picking it up
>beat Gore Magala on my first try
So, following the logic, MH4U is the single most difficult game ever made?
Mounting is kinda debatable for me, since I always mount the same monster 2-3 times as I use it as a way to "have a break", so my teammates can heal, sharp their weapons, Flash the monster that I am mounting and prepare for when the monster is going down to deal a shiton of damage.
is there something wrong about the site?
Speed-running AKA save-scrubbing
There's 2 Leshen?
*scumming
>tfw I will never get to hunt raviente because it requires you to be in a party with actual people
frontier was fun to play solo but unfortunate raviente has to be with others
nah, it's fine
>play game
>bad at it
>play game more
>still bad at it
>play game even more
>not as bad at it now
wow... mind blown
I don't know Japanese and I grinded my way into Determination fine. Support is mostly easy, you just need a set for it and know the common callouts. Although it's not actual slaying, but it's a very important part of Ravi. Anything below Berserk isn't really worth trying out.
I went on slaying teams as HH on the TW server before its hiatus started, and it's not enjoyable to learn due to the Adrenaline meta. Although it didn't help that the support team on that server turned out to be part of a guild harboring cheaters, and they tried some stupid selfish strategy to maximize their rewards that didn't even work most of the time. If Ravi is pissed it then makes it do a sudden paralysis attack over its entire body and it's enough to one-shot players on 40 HP, so the timings got fucked.
That's the thing, I just want to hunt the nigga by myself. Even if it isn't that hard to learn, cooperating with others with a language barrier is a pain.
Do the lower ranked Ravientes also have a metagame? Are they easy enough for you to not need to organize a team and I can just join randomly? Or are you actually talking about lower ranked ones
Anything that isn't Extreme Raviente (which is ultimately a beefier Berserk) has zero relevance, because the gains vs kill time are good enough to make it worth doing over the HR5 Violent Raviente. The unfortunate thing about this is that the grind is effectively a Catch 22 outside of the support role, which the Japs are surprisingly not eager to fill up (you can have 3+ pages of people in the caravan area waiting as support may not even be filled up by then).
HR2-5 take little time for each phase because G-Rank power makes them trivial, not even lasting a minute in most cases after it's done coiling around. Still, if you want to start one to just say you've fought it, you'll need three more people to help you initiate it, but when it starts up (and the caravan area changes a bit + new music) they're no longer needed and you can solo it. You could get locals to help you start it, best bet would be an English guild depending on what server you're playing on.
Also, the HR and GR fights are quite different. Japan technically has a 'practice' Berserk Raviente that's 4-8 players but I'm not sure on the specifics other than the rewards being too little to be worth grinding out. And have this cute Hunting Horn.
new to the franchise, picked this and really liked it, I find myslf filling the bar to red quick and do nothing the rest of the fight but spam the jumping atack, I've geotten good at timing and land erery one I throw, is that how you're suposed to use this or am I gonna be called an idiot when I play with others?
Yeah, I don't care about getting good equipment or getting fast killtimes or whatever, I just want to experience the fight.
Obviously soloing it would be different, but still. I don't even have a subscription right now, I assume the weakest Ravientes can be accessed without it on JP. If it really is possible to solo it, I'll look into it more.
you are not going to get called anything but there is a reason why that weapon is called "toddler stick"
>I find myslf filling the bar to red quick and do nothing the rest of the fight but spam the jumping atack
Once the interior bar is red, you use the spirit combo to charge the "rank" of your sword. The outer color goes from white, to yellow, to red, and the damage increases with it. When you do the jumping attack it deranks you, but starts automatically generating the interior if you land the hit. This is the basic loop of LS; going between red and gold and charging back up again. Once you get gud you can learn to use the counter move to very quickly rank it up. There's video guides out there but you should be able to get the hang of it after 5 minutes in the training room. Aside from the counter, which can be a little tricky.
I've got no idea about the HR2 Ravi. Technically the free stuff is HR1-4, but players without a sub aren't able to do the HR2-4 Diva Defense interceptions whenever they're up. Also, JP is handing out seven days for free until August rolls over, which presumably by then they'll have another weeks' worth to burn through.
If you need to find people, the best I can do in the meantime is link you a EN JP Discord server if you want it. Failing that, I suppose we'd have to see if we can get more Yea Forumsirgins when the game's final month is free from November 13th.
