>hey bro you know dark souls? lets copy it and make it a 2d game!
>cool, let's do it!
>hey you know how dark souls had a fast travel system that let you get to vendors really quickly or return to the hub?
>yeah, it was great
>let's not do that
>sounds epic dude lets go
why does anyone defend this shit game? even the world design is total trash
Hey bro you know dark souls? lets copy it and make it a 2d game!
>oh and we don't have money for real artists so lets make it look like a shitty flash game
sounds good bro. make sure to make it look kinda faggy though so reddit will like it
but there is fast travel? it called the stags and it works the same way as the bonfires
Stag stations, trams, and dreamgate all enable various forms of fast travel around the map. Hollow Knight is also a game where you get actual movement abilities as you progress, so even unassisted travel from place to place becomes quicker over time.
reminder to sage HK bait threads
>he thinks that warping was what made dark souls good
how can one man be so wrong?
except the stags only take you to fucking worthless places and the vendors are all in the middle of fucking nowhere still
and if you're out and need to get back to a fast travel point good luck backtracking for 10 fucking minutes because for some reason the fast travel points are scarce as fuck
the only movement ability you get is the dash, which is the only thing that allows you to skip past enemies
every other ability is mostly worthless when it comes to actually moving around the map outside of the platform sections that they're obviously needed for (such as the charged dash)
>liking fast travel in Dark Souls
shit taste
double jump and wall jump both open up a lot of routes, fuck off
Dash, shadow dash, double jump, wall jump, ground slam, and super dash all make traversal faster.
yeah they do, they open progression routes not shortcuts
and the shortcuts that do exist are also fucking worthless once you're done with the area
How mentally stunted do you have to be to think that the ability to jump higher and climb walls doesn't make it faster to get around in a game filled with verticality
because those ablities are unlocked specifically for those areas retard. if you go back to an area that you went through without those, they aren't designed to have the player take advantage of the new abilities aside from a fucking hidden item here and there. the traversal isnt made any quicker because the level design doesnt allow it.
explain how I can wall jump up the big shaft in forgotten crossroads and super dash through screens in city of tears, then. They don't have to be designed explicitly for the abilities, they're fundamental moves. Every fucking area has walls.
>hey bros you know video game? lets copy it and make it video game
>cool, lets video game!
>hey you know how video game had a game video system that let you get to game really video or game to the game?
>yeah, it was gamwe
>let's game game video
>sounds game gam7e video game
why dame anyone video game this video game? game the game ga3me game game ga me
>WAAHHH THIS GAME IS HAAARD
faggot.
>guaranteed replies xD
>love souls
>love exploring
couldn't get into this game though because the backtracking was just too much
Imagine being such a new-age ADHD riddled faggot that the game is ruined for you because you have to actually traverse the map in a fucking metroidvania.
except in all other metroidvanias your power increases as you progress the game, making earlier areas trivial
this does not happen in hollow knight
it's as much of a chore at the start as it is after 5 upgrades
getting the sprinting badge and the dashmaster badge makes moving through the world trivial. There are certain areas that let you just use the crystal heart to dash straight through.
D R E A M G A T E
What? First of all your power does not increse in Metroid of all, second of all you have a lot more health, better nail and charms by the end. Not to mention you can double jump, jump of walls and dash.
Just stop being such a tryhard. This game improved on literally all the major problems of both Metroidvania and Castlevania.
You get more powerful in Hollow Knight as well.
Dashing, walljumping, double jumping, iframes, nail arts, charms, crystal heart, and even straight upgrades to your attack power.
I don't honestly know how you could be having trouble with earlier areas unless you're just bad.
i never said i'm having trouble with earlier areas
they're not any easier than they were at the start though. the problem is with how time consuming the backtracking in this game is and how poorly placed vendors and fast travel points are placed.
How could they not be easier when you have so many more movement options, enhancements from charms, and increased attack damage?
>they're not any easier than they were at the start though.
yes they are. upgrade the nail and you can kill them in 1-2 hits.
