Just got an MSI GS65, one of the few gaming laptops that doesn't look like it was designed by a 4th grader. Now I'm in the market for a cooling pad, though it seems no aesthetically appealing ones exist... anywhere... in the whole world, apparently.
Anyone know of a laptop cooling pad that can handle gaming, and that doesn't look like this

Bro we told you not to fall for the gaming laptop meme
Do these things actually work? The laptop itself has fans, the only thing limiting the air flow would be the desk underneath it, maybe you could get something that just elevates the laptop a few centimeters.
Also, the usual tips, repaste it with quality paste, clean the fan area and undervolt it.
Yea, it's called central AC.
purchase a big boy computer. put a bunch of fans in it.
Of course it works, why wouldn't it work?
Snake oil is sold in bulk these days.
Why does it matter what it looks like if it is under your laptop?
Back when I had a gaming laptop I had a really good logitech one. The fans were pretty powerful but after a few years it got kinda weak.
The stopped making them unfortunately and all the top alternatives were absolute garbage, you can't even feel the breeze they make with the flimsy fans they use.
You will get several degrees worth of cooling. You are better off doing what was already posted and repasting, undervolting, and cleaning/replacing the internal fan.
But you are still hamstrung compared to a desktop.
If you want to go full autist you can also buy one of those goofy snap on exhausts that you attach to the side of your "gaming" laptop.
maybe if you have a proper computer, you wouldnt have to worry about cooling
Because, then they win...
Are you implying fans pointed directly under the laptop wouldn't at least somewhat cool it down?
I'm a truck driver, a laptop is kinda my only logical option
It barely works. The bottom of your laptop is not a heatsink, and most laptop air intake vents are to the side. So pointing fans at the bottom of your laptop will just cool the bottom of the chassis.
I just watched a few youtube vids. 3°C does not seem to be worth it. Repaste/undervolt has better results.

So... if cooling pads don't really do much, ...are gaming laptops a scam then... or wtf
You could have gotten a small form factor computer like mini-itx.
