There's a bit extra, but yeah, the anime is pretty close to a 1:1 recreation. The Steins;Gate 0 VN has a lot more in it that didn't make it into the anime, because it forks early and often and so there are completely mutually exclusive plotlines running at the same time without any single one being the main one. If you're interested in seeing some cool content that wasn't really present in the S;G0 anime, give the VN a go.

Oh, actually, one thing I forgot - you did make sure to get all the alternate endings as you went along right? That's the big thing the VN has that's missing from the anime, some of them are very worth seeing if you didn't. Also, the scene with Nae after FB dies and the nightmare scenario in chapter 6 are both worth seeing.

Yeah, I found the di-swords to be a really weird, stupid, and unnecessary inclusion in Chaos;Child, which is otherwise relatively grounded - and so far I haven't got the impression from Chaos;Head that they're any less dumb here either.

I think you're misunderstanding the sense in which they have to "have happened". It doesn't mean that they need to happen in the successful worldline, it means that they need to play out in an unsuccessful worldline in order for it to reach the point where it can intervene to help the successful worldline.
