Depends on the game. The Succubus games are good, Rance games are good, Kamidori is also good. Claire Quest has a good gameplay system that rewards character development. Monstergirl Island looks surprisingly well for a 3D porn game. Echidna Wars is a great beat em up.

the first game is a visual novel with branching paths, but a pretty liniear story. theres alot of effort though. it made edging very easy due to actual interesting stuff happening...so i'd want to hold onto my nut to keep playing

but Paradox really shines. as it's pretty much a full on RPG party game. like go whever the fuck you want m8. also I loved being able to craft a very specific party of monsters catered to my fetishes, there is a huge choice of monsters. Lots of little story extras to do with them too.

The original is a VN, people often describe it as "come for the porn, stay for the story". The sequel that is currently being made is the RPG maker game, and for me at least the appeal in that one is in seeing all my favorite characters again AND being able to have them in my party. There's a ridiculous amount of customization allowed thanks to hundreds of characters, dozens of jobs and races.
But of course, you need to go in with the mindset that this game is, by nature, ridiculous, and you have to roll with it. But if you do it's a really fun story to go through.
