All those dislikes is because he's a stupid faggot. The side quests are something to do while waiting for dungeon que or when youre bored. The MSQ will carry you most of the way for one class, then you can do the quests. FATEs are great but people only do them on current content.

They should apply the fate reward system to the entire game. I love the game, but making new improvements for content present from the beginning of the game that you won't get to use for 300 hours is fucking stupid.

To be fair, FFXIV is my first MMO and I feel my body slowly decomposing whenever I play the MSQ. Apparently it gets better at Heavensward.

ARR is suffering, heavensward is definitely better but the post 50 burnout really lingers.

Don't play the game, it's trash and you're wasting your time. The gear you're getting now is the same gear you'll be working towards at max level but with higher stats. The game is a waste of time and it's afraid of being anything more than a glorified game of Simon says.

I enjoyed ARR and I kinda miss it's mundaneness. Being the chosen one who everyone dick sucks gets a bit old. Just being a nobody meeting bartenders and other adventurers was great. I still really like Edda's party and how their story was told. I want more of that.

I already wanted to kill myself before starting, so in that sense it didn't feel much different

I inherently like running dungeons, so I forced myself to complete at least a handful of MSQ steps before playing "for real" in any given session. After that I'd just queue up, chat with friends, and RP. I'm pretty easy to please.

Oh, no, really early on it's comfy as fuck. I'm all for small scale dramas, but the structure and logistics of the quests themselves got really painful. Same aesthetic with reduced bloat would be ideal.

Also, I'd like to add that the content cycle has been literally the same since 2.0

I played it for 300 hours and didn't even get through Heavensward. The amount of quests they force you to do is absolutely staggering.
The 100 or so filler quests they had between the end of ARR leading into HW was my least favorite content. Fuck that shit.

As someone who's played over 30,000 hours of MMOs in their life I'd have to disagree. The most boring would have to be WoW because you do it all solo, entirely solo, and it's nothing more than spamming the same quests you've done 400 times over the years.

I love FFXIV to death but the ARR MSQ is torture, there is no way around it.
Back in the day when it was all there was, it didn't feel as bad because you knew it will be over soon and there'll be no more MSQ, also you saw a lot more players around those areas. Now it must be extremely boring to do them, specially knowing everyone says it gets better in the expansion.
Even the devs say it's awful, I wish they would just allow you to skip ARR story, I'm sure a lot more people would stay playing.

The story isn’t awful, but the way that it’s presented is. Of course story skips to HW are going to exist when the monotonous fetch questing and padding of 2.x content exists. With ShB release, they did clean up a lot of the MSQ, and I gotta say, as someone who cutscene skipped my way to 70, ShB actually caught my attention enough and is presented well enough that I haven’t skipped any of it. The story is interesting, the pace is good and it really does feel a lot like a single player game.

This is very true, and my only other mmo experience is ff11 before they made it a one player game. l could level grind in ff11 for hours and never get bored, if youre party was good enough youd endup in a trance of pure bliss.
