I grew up in a strict Nintendo household, so Crash was never a part of my childhood. Picked up CTR after watching my friends enjoy it and holy shit, how did this game not just instantly curb stomp Mario Kart? Don't get me wrong, Mario Kart is still fun, but there's just so much more you can do to do better in CTR that isn't just drift every corner, take shortcuts, and pray to be on the good side of the RNG.

Why not drop the difficulty if a game really upsets you this much? Some people take it far too personally when they have to.

A good track to practice maintaing USF and reserves is Tiny Temple
At the end of Tiny Temple once you have the USF by power sliding and boosting when you can, you should be able to maintain USF for the rest of the race
It is also good as it isnt a super narrow or bendy track so it lends really well to reserve practice
Then move on to Electron Avenue to learn how to u turn and keep USF by using mid air brakes

I've gotten the angle right consistently by going to the left side of the pipe first before dropping down. However if I don't have enough speed coming out of the tunnel I won't make the height, and if I have too much speed heading left I'll launch off the left side of the pipe too high and won't be able to configure myself properly for the shortcut jump.

Items in this game are fundamentally broken. Blue Shells in Mario Kart are generally a 1-2 time occurrence per race, getting hit by SIX (two in very quick succession) is just poor game design. Know what else is poor game design? Getting hit by two clocks in very quick succession resulting in the clock effect HUD staying in place for the rest of the race.

This game isn't going to last, everything about it is amateur. Damn shame because I loved the original so much.

Sometimes keeping your drift going over a ramp is better than hopping, as a level 3 drift boost will give more reserves than the landing would
Learn how to hop-break-turn. Breaking while on the ground eats your boost, but not in the air, use this to maintain boost around sharp corners like the entire pyramid on Papu's Pyramid.

Any advice for consistently hitting the bridge jump shortcut in Blizzard Bluff? I have the Sewer Speedway shortcut down now but I just can't consistently make it over the gap in Blizzard Bluff.

Thunder Struck also has this problem. I know the second jump here makes me look like a retard, but even if you land all 4 wheels on that edge you may get rescued by the mask.

The trick to get this consistently is to make sure your character is on the floor when taking the ramp.
If you just try to jump into the ramp and then jump again to gain height in the original, the game won't register that your kart is chaging angles, and that's how it calculaes jump height now.

the problem is that the jump isn't natural, dumbass. your speed literally doesn't matter, you either jump at the correct frame and the game forces you up or you don't and you slam into the wall.
beenox couldn't get the physics right so they hard-coded some areas like the sewer speedway jump or the last jump on hot air skyway to force the player kart down a path regardless of his speed.

Mario cart is almost a Mario party game. It creates a lot of luck so that bad players can feel better. IMO Nintendo makes the right decision here. The good players will win more than bad players when averaged over multiple races. Pure skill challenges cause the better player to win every single time.

You can't make any major jumps on Hot Air Skyway without being instantly masked. Going off-track in this game in general is near impossible because Beenox are shitty third-rate devs that only worked on shovelware prior to this game.

The extra speed they have oerr others even at SF speed helpps gain ground and best tropy and oxide, as even with other characters, the twist is hard to keep speed trough but if you can do it with handling chances are you can do it with speed as i managed one lap doing it
Or just slow down prior and take the conrer safer without bumping as oxide and tropy do it all three laps so if you are quicker around that and can maintain SF when you get it is easier

It's not to do with speed, the sewer speedway shortcut is fucked. Pretty sure it's a scripted jump, with a very small activation range. You can be going at base speed, jump at the right spot and fly up. Apparently Beenox are aware of this, so should be patched at some point. The physics in the remake are a bit wonky in some areas, especially jumps.

There is a glitch that makes the jump easier, so might be patched soon, but whatever. When you make the jump, there is a pile of snow on the left hand side in the river that a lot closer to where you jump from than the actual road, landing on this causes you to lift up and over onto the road. You don't need much speed to land this.

Because of those 2 sets of 2 faggot boxes on either side of the slope that you have to jump for. You know what boxes i'm talking about.

Maybe it's a nice gesture, but it's also really risky. Personally, I'm often in 2nd place, with a HUGE margin between 1st place, me, and 3rd place. So I get to finish and nobody else does.

I'm going though in order, I've only done all of crash cove, coco park, and Papu's pyramid.
Slide Colosseum and turbo track are done too of course.

It's not very risky, it's not like I wait to the last second. The races are just very short so I just want people to get some racing in between the loading screens

I fucking hate the relic races. I do alright in N.Sane, but holy shit, hitting time crates at a curve, and with the correct speed on all jumps is a massive bitch.

Also the Sewer Speedway shortcut is absolute trash in the remake.

It probably requires a whole different means of development tools to bring to PC, something that takes time and effort. So they'd rather have it out for the console market and then release it for the PC market when the hype dies down since they'll always buy it anyway
