Works on my machine

Same

We couldn't see more than 15FPS back then anyway.

Turn off water simulation set water to it's lowest

Because it was designed to be played for the next ten years, at least.

mighty kek

It was a big game for 2002

>ATi Radeon 9700 Pro
didnt nvdia need like 2 years to catch up to this card?

Ya too bad it looked like complete shit even for 2002

About 18 months. Radeon 9700 Pro was released in the middle of 2002 and Nvidia wasn't able to release a card that could match it until early 2004.

Instead in 2003 they hilariously released pic related, the first two slot GPU ever which had a cooler that sounded like a jet engine. And it was still slower than the Radeon 9700 Pro.

What are you, 12?

All Bethesda games look bad for their time and always will, Starfield will look very dated when they finally show it

Also to add, the GeForce 5 series (FX) was so bad that Half-Life actually detects the card as if it were a GeForce 4 and reverts to lower quality DirectX 8 shaders

*Half-Life 2

Until they stop being stubborn about that fucking engine

bros, why is this game so good

Stop playing that garbage

made for single core CPUs so the engine will only use 1 core. no way to fix it other than by using openmw.

There have been a few analysis of the engine here, and the general consensus is that the engine is completely perfect for what they're trying to do. Open world with completely interactable clutter. No other engine can do it like Gamebryo. The problem is that Bethesda is completely pants on head retarded, and are completely fucking everything over with their use of the engine. The problem is Bethesda, not the engine.

the best gaming of my teen times
a little pitty that the third one wasn't as great

So make id fix it

I had a P4 with a Nvidia card and I ran it at 30+. Xbox version ran poorly for me. That said, it wasnt the fps that made old Morrowind frustrating to play, it was all the game breaking bugs. Anytime you opened a door to a new area, you had the chance for a hardlock.

Morrowind is more CPU hungry than GPU

because you really like it
don't know what this has to do with Morrowind though

that's all true, but it's basically splitting hairs. You know what people mean when they say "bethesda's engine is shit". It's just that there's not a more elegant way of describing the real problem without having to go into paragraphs writing a treatise on it.

Basically what people want is to Bethesda learn how to do their jobs competently instead of programming games as if they're still in the early 2000s, just with some better textures and shader details.

id could make them the best damn engine in the world. It wouldn't matter, because it'd still be Bethesda using the damn thing.

is morrowind worth giving a shot?
im autistically playing the same decade old RPGs over and over again every year but never tried morrowind. it looks to clunky and oldschool even for my Baldurs Gate 2 playing ass

Play Gothic instead
It aged like fine wine

The game is broken as shit, although it might be good if you have never played it before and dont power level

you know Bethesda reminds me of Gamefreak. An extremely successful game company who owes their success to a singular series. Yet is subpar when it comes to managing that series.

I've made that comparison before as well. They're both companies that have their specific niche, and since nobody else truly bothers making games like they do, they get away with their godawful sloppy work because there's no competition.

Of course in the case of Bethesda, they were foolish enough to commission Obsidian to develop NV, and in the ~1 year or so that they had to develop that, they somehow still ended up BTFOing bethesda out of the water in their own niche. And that's why bethesda will never ever allow another company handle one of their IPs like that again.

You can use seeker armor?

Shut the fuck up jordan Peterson

wash your penis, bucko

I'll fucking stab you you leaf fucker

What does he have to with video games?

I thought Obsidian said they werent going to work on Fallout again unless they got the rights for it.

> No other engine can do it like Gamebryo
Engine can be tailor made to do whatever people want, or even modified to do what people want, Gamebryo was called Net Immerse when Morrowind was made using it, and it was built for online games.
The Clutter uses Havok for physics.

Holy shit get a better computer you absolute retard poorfag. This shit runs on any toaster at 60+FPS

>And that's why bethesda will never ever allow another company handle one of their IPs like that again.
Bethesda's plan was to force Obsidian into a buyout so that they could have a dedicated Fallout team, that was the whole plan with New Vegas, the tight development schedule was to trick them into borrowing more funds in order to meet the deadline, but Obsidian just spent their own money to do it.

Morrowind Modding community autists are already working on a competitor to Bethesda's games.

Yup, I know about that tactic Bethesda does. It's also what they did to buy up Arkane.

>Morrowind Modding community autists are already working on a competitor to Bethesda's games.
Are you referring to OpenMW?

Oblivion wasn't any better. It ran on like 6 video cards at release and was used as THE benchmark until Crysis came out

No, I'm referring to a game made on that engine.

I havent heard about this. You mind telling me more about it?

The last RPG Bethesda published. All they make now is TPS console garbage

I can't find the vid, but a pair of guys are working on a game, they made a climbing system as well as a combat system that registered damage based on hit location, but there was a strange engine limitation that broke it when attacking generic NPCs.

that's not a lot to go off. Do you remember the name of it or where you heard about it?

One of the guys posted here, I don't remember the name of the account, but I've seen the video, it was on Youtube, there was another vid where they were also doing AI schedules, but it was quite simple, I think they achieved it via the scripting engine, so it couldn't work well for a full game, the project itself had no name, none that I was aware of, just 2 guys developing their own game in the OpenMW engine, and they've posted in multiple threads.

Found it, but this was just a mod, and they were using these features to develop a whole game, I don't know if they are still doing this however.

huh gonna have to check it out next time i play.

install openmw and youll get good fps

based opinion

how playable it is? What about mods?
is performance actually any better than normal game with MGE?

I mean, it looks nice, but updates are so slow, it might come after Skywind, which in turn will probably come after TES VII

Bump

Just started playing this game recently. I tried to read up bit online but just got confused with how levelling works and all. I don't really care about power gaming, min-maxing but I don't want to end up in situation 20 hours later where I realize I fucked up.
My major skills were Speechcraft, Heavy Armor, Marksman, Spear and Restoration. I pretty much plan on using Bow for ranged harassing and if they get close just do walk back pokes.

Doom 3 was even worse.

Doom 3 was a barely concealed tech demo, similar to Crysis. Except Crysis actually managed to be a good game, at the same time. RAGE was even worse. It was a tech demo, that didn't even demo the tech well.

Doom 3 upgraded PCs. That was its thing on a tech level - the new powerhouse frontier
fuck outta here, d3 shat on every fps at the time and showed how fps horror is done. keep coping, only the ones that could not play it for whatever reason hate on it - it was meant to make you upgrade. if you couldn't atm that does not make it a bad game.

4u

First, even if the engine was 'ok', it's still built on decades old technology at its foundation. It's time to move on. Second, even if the engine was perfect that's now the fucking point. Bethesda can't use it. They NEED to change engine because they've demonstrated time and time again they will NOT make a good game with Gamebryo, whatever the reason.

Attached: sponge.jpg (363x421, 23K)

I could play it. It was still a bad game. F.E.A.R. was a much better horror FPS

Doom 3 was very VERY playable on GeForce 6800 Ultra, which were already available

My dick is fucking erect

I tried to run the game on S3 Savage card.

It didn't? I remember it running fine on my old machine specs of which were worse than that.

>Bethesda's plan was to force Obsidian into a buyout so that they could have a dedicated Fallout team, that was the whole plan with New Vegas, the tight development schedule was to trick them into borrowing more funds in order to meet the deadline, but Obsidian just spent their own money to do it.

Not true at all. Avellone and anonymous Obsidian insiders still in the company have said that couldn't have happened and that Obsidian just blew their fucking chance.

The main part of Obsidian's business model was making games based upon the engines of other companies and they paid out the ass for it.
Bethesda got what they wanted from Obsidian straight away, they didn't need some Xanatos gambit to turn a buck.

Bethesda were kind enough to offer Obsidian a huge monetary bonus if they got an 85% metacritic. This isn't a requirement of a publisher, it's not expected, it was just a nice way to incentivize them to do a better job. And Obsidian would have gotten rewarded if their designers weren't retardedly refusing to talk to each other and over-writing each other's stuff, if they actually did crunch time instead of just sitting back.

Obsidian have been living on handouts for decades and their collective idiocy is coming home to roost.

only if you spawn it in

Its common knowledge that Zenimax do hostile takeovers every chance they get.

You are fucking retarded

Get openmw

Good thing I got it on xbox :)

>not playing videogames for graphics
What are you, severely autistic?

pm'd you the fix ;)

I love reading old reviews of stuff. I wonder what people in 20 years will think of Fallout 76.
