This.
why is this game harder for me to get into than dwarf fortress? are there different types of autism?
Fuck your mother.
Giving paradox more than 100 dollars for dlc unless you pirate it.
Steam gave this game out for free. Due to my toaster, the game randomly (and I do mean randomly) crashes over and over.
making friends and then attacking them in 2 years
having kids and then killing them once you're playing as your heir and they oppose you
developing a major impregnation kink
I guess so. I like both, but I think I understand. what you need to/are able to do to affect the game is a lot more direct in DF, CK necessarily involves waiting more (in certain parts)
The sims for autistic men.
just got done playing mp with a friend. this game is absolutely fucking bullshit.
Its you v everyone, even your allies. You can have the best relations with everyone and they will still fuck you for no rational reason.
So I am Dutchess of Kiev, I conquer the shit out of my neighbors, give my 100+ loyalty husband some land, he starts some shit with another country, wins, breaks free from my lands, and then loses the holdings I gave him and the other country to an enemy ai.
Later, I invade the north of bulgaria while serbia is subjugating it from the south. I should be able to nab one province, while they are fighting for their existence, right? Nope, motherfuckers send their entire army after me and let their country be taken over.
Dont waste your time OP, there are better grand strategy/incest simulator games out there
CRUSADER II CKTNGS
fun
Incest, lots of it
The realization that you're not nearly as principled as you thought you were once you gain power free from repercussions
the vanilla version is boring after a couple hours.
If you pirate all the dlc (because fuck spending $200 to get every dlc) its like civ of you come back to it every few months and waste an entire 16 hours playing it.
You vs everyone even your allies is historically accurate, stop being a gullible sap and manipulate them back.
Get a spymaster who isn't a fucking retard and stop being such a gullible sap
fucked up maps: the game (featuring incest)
bordergore
>better incest simulator
I'm curious about the examples.
Anyone play imperator ? Its on xbox game pass thought ivmight check it out
No one actually does incest because it leads to fucked up stats.
You can marry a dyke and kill her immediantly afterwards. Your mother can become married with a woman and you can kill both of them afterwards. If you yourself are gay you can commit suicide. Its a good game.
but without seduction focus you can only do cousins
>he doesn't follow the divine blood elective monarchy meta
Just keep fucking your older sister-mother-wife and pumping out kids, your vassals will choose the one who managed to win the genetic lottery
unapologetic 300$ jank
>he doesn't do anything and everything in his power to win the immortality event chain
>he doesn't then create a hereditary legacy that the firstborn daughter shall marry the Immortal Father upon the previous 20xgreat grandaughter wife dies
Never gonna make it.
Got the Holy Fury dlc and I’m having a lot of fun with the random realm mechanic. Some of the randomly generated religions are wild.
What are some essential mods for this game? Mostly quality of life stuff, I already know the complete overhaul ones like AGOT and Elder Kings
The glories of Zeus.
>paying for paradox DLC
LMAOing @ ur life m8
if you're a thinking man you download the mods necessary to start a tentacle monster cult and surrender your wives and daughters and yourself to become tentacle spawn brood mothers with which to crush any army
30 hours to learn how to play, 300 to git gud. Pretty good game.
Patrum Scuta is definitive.
Very well crafted house Coast of Arms that make the base game's look like shit.
how do you bang your mother?
Every time I start a game I can't do it until my first character dies
>he didn't just buy all of it on sale for like 6 dollars
Are you even a gamer bruh?
>he didn't just buy all of it on sale for like 6 dollars
That's never been viable and you know it.
Good goy
>upgrade holdings
>marry a woman with good stats and make hundreds of babies
>change succession law to Elective Monarchy
>gobble up neighboring countries with less army than you
>ally with someone powerful to win your wars for you
>join Satanic cult so you can kidnap and assassinate literally anyone on the map for free
>have sex with your sister-daughter on the side
Once you've learnt how to play the game you get more enjoyment out of roleplaying or challenges rather than just painting the map a pretty color
Your children being cunts
Mods
Don't split your titles between your children or you'll lose control of the ones not held by your successor
only for gavelkind, which is pretty shit and you should go for seniority asap until you have the tech for primogeniture. Other than that try to get as high a rank as possible and don't hold other titles of the same rank to lose to secondary kids
A billion events about you playing with your daughter and deciding if your wife should have an opinion on who should be Qadi or not while you're just trying to make sure to move in time when that 12k death stack emerges from the fog as you finish off that last war goal county.
Did they make it harder to make a retinue in an update or something?
I've got like 4 levels into the technology for it plus all of the buildings and still not enough retinue levy capacity to buy even the cheapest one.
Do you create a dwarf child if you marry another dwarf as a dwarf? Can you potentially make an entire kingdom ruled by dwarven nobility?
trait inheritance is random but have increased chance if both parents have it
Your own heir or king somehow getting absolutely terrible stats while the child of some random fuck at court is a genius with the best possible education.
>The sims for autistic men.
Seems accurate.
Seems like you fucked up and decided to blame the game instead of understanding how it works.
>Its you v everyone, even your allies
Your allies can't be against you. Hell, people with a non-aggression pack can't go against you.
Maybe you triggered a defence pact cause you decided to conquer like a madman.
>give my 100+ loyalty husband some land, he starts some shit with another country, wins, breaks free from my lands, and then loses the holdings I gave him and the other country to an enemy ai.
Him breaking free shouldn't be a problem. Is better for your kids. If he became independent, is cause he conquered a kingdom with a claim. Your kids will inherit it.
Unless he has older kids from another marriage, but that's your fault for not paying attention and cucking yourself.
Then he either got conquered, and is your fault for not aiding your husband in war, or absorbed by the HRE, which is a sign you have no idea about how to play the game.
Always keep an eye on the HRE, and if they start claiming war for a vassal and you can't defeat them, then go after the vassal and kill him.
Any good guides for newcomers?
>99% chance to gain good trait
>1% chance of dying
>"[Name] is now our new king! Long live the king!"
20 hours of youtube tutorials
Unlike other paradox games I think the best bet is to just roll with it and learn everything as you go. As long as you take care of your succession you really can't game over short of losing every single county you own, which isn't likely unless you start as an opm count bordering pagans or something.
Just pick somebody in britian of a size you like and just see what happens, if you fuck something up it usually won't matter and you'll learn what works and what doesn't
You only get increased chances, but do know I always recruit dwarfs to fill in for the court dwarf spot.
Pirate all DLC. The base game is a completely different beast at this point and you're basically playing a quarter of the real game.
If you want your learning experience to be hours and hours long but completely unmolested pick an early start date and pick an independent territory with no vassals or Lord to serve and go about understanding basic combat, intrigue, scheming, marrying, how events work, etc.
Especially early game in small territories it's just whoever has the bigger army wins, build a retinue and some levies and stomp on your equally midget tier neighbors for early conquest
If you want a faster learning experience start as a mid-level vassal of a large empire, you will be dropped into the middle of dozens of lords worth of intrigue and will be forced to quickly learn how to rule and be ruled
How do I play in France/Germany without pushing my fingers into my eyes out of boredom?
I keep gravitating towards playing around Persia and the Middle East as some whacky religion or culture; I'm getting tired of the scenery.
The christian religions, by virtue of having been the first ones made, can be pretty boring compared to other options.
Easiest way to have a unique playthrough as one of them is to become something else: convert to satanism in secret, start a heresy, conquer Rome in the name of Hellenic revival, find a big tittie jewess concubine and raise your children to hoard shekels and run the new world order, etc
Hows the Warhammer mod? Gehennairch or whatever?
I think the problem with this game is once you play it long enough you realize it's almost entirely based around flavor events, and after a while you keep seeing the same ones over and over and every character just feels the same
>Rumor tells of a white stag somewhere in the woods
As other people have pointed out, you can just jump right in. There is no need to min-max because the game is more of a sandbox, and focuses on the journey of yur character rather than territorial expansion. You can become king of France and then lose it all and go back to being a lowly count in a matter of generation, that's actually the kind of thing that makes the game fun. Do pirate the DLCs, as without them you'll soon see everything there is to see in the game.
worst offender are the orders, since you are more or less compelled to do them every generation if you want to have a good character
>I am ready to send out my research paper! X15
>I will go gather ingredients in the woods X32
>My apprentice wants to trash my rivals lab X 12 (I have a rival?)
It can get really tedious
The lodge ones are at least more active and carry actual risks and rewards, although they make the other societies look like shit in comparison and show the obvious pagan favoritism of the devs
the worst is that the dominican and benedictine orders are literally identical, it's fucking stupid
I always just betray one to steal an artifact and then just join the other because it might as well not have happened at all
You can say that again. The Christian orders are so empty it's ridiculous. All you can do is literally give money for a boost in piety and lose fertility once you become the master priest
first thing that popped to mind as well
Anyone got more advanced advice on taking on bigger blobs than yours, preferably those you holy war?
>court is full of demon worshipers again
It's always cathartic to wipe out those roaches.
How do you search for that?
I've been too busy setting up my neo-Assyrian Nestorian kingdom and being wedged between three different blobs to pay a lot of attention to insular problems.
I mean....if you think about it....it really isn't......
Mercenaries and a sizeable reserves of cash beforehand. If Holy war, then holy orders are a godsend
Stockpile money beforehand, take full advantage of your vassal levies and use mercs as needed. If fighting muzzies you might be able to use holy orders as well if they're available.
I'm no expert but warscore seems to rely heavily on battles more than occupations, so you'll get more mileage out of beating up the enemy's bigger stacks instead of just seiging down every little shit province they have
retinues are pound for pound ridiculously overpowered compared to regular armies
specialize yourself and your commanders and fight in favorable terrain
High combat martials are incredibly valuable in general and can easily turn the tide
Join a warrior lodge, they're fucking overpowered
Duel the enemy commander to make them fight at a disadvantage once you win
Getting a good court chaplain and just leaving him on the hunt apostates setting will find quite a few. I'm also pretty sure they tend to wear a certain outfit or you can just look for guys who have several bad traits as well as the suspicion modifier.
>pick Hermetic Society so I can conduct some science
>always die within 2 years of picking it
LITERALLY
EVERY
TIME
Lucifer's Own is incredibly OP because you can kidnap literally anyone on the map, including the Pope, incredibly easily then kill them free of charge.
Try to join the Hermetic Society and do a little research in a comfy little lab in your castle?
Get assassinated within 6 months every fucking time.
Worst part is the lab etc that you build doesn't carry on to your heirs, so after a few generations you have like 12 laboratories in your castle.
Re-use the old one?
NAH
Let's build a new one at great expense.
they let you remove bad traits from anyone and let you teach good traits to your kids.
Not as good as the other cultures and religions but still a bit underrated.
Lucifer's Own still the most OP though.
Having to rebuild the lab every time is a little silly, yeah (How many fucking secret islands does your domain have anyway?).
If you have problems with getting assassinated, it's probably because your vassals hate your guts. Try having better diplomacy and not doing any tyrannical acts, once you have these two nailed down it becomes pretty easy to have them simply tolerate you. Unless it's your own family that's after you, in which case, only solution is popping less offsprings in the future.
Even then, you need to have the good trait beforehand to be able to pass it on, and that's only at the penultimate level of the order. Too much of a hassle when you could be writing an Opus Magnum that will stay in your coffers for generations to come.
Speaking of cultures, why aren't there more unique mechanics to pretty much any and all cultures?
Like a bonus to using the silk road as a Sogdian or Jew?
The problem is after a few generations you've already written each kind of level 4 magnum dong and you're just sitting around waiting for the invention event chain, and even those you'll fill out eventually
>If you have problems with getting assassinated, it's probably because your vassals hate your guts. Try having better diplomacy and not doing any tyrannical acts, once you have these two nailed down it becomes pretty easy to have them simply tolerate you.
Thing is, I understand this and have no problems with it normally. But the second I join the Hermetic Society it seems everyone gets a hate boner for you and tries to kill you.
Meanwhile devil worshippers get off scot free and even if they do get found out they can just insta-kill anyone and everyone quickly, easily and for free.
>why aren't there more unique mechanics to pretty much any and all cultures?
for future DLCs
That's just it, they made the process to grandmaster alchemist so streamlined that you are literally farming Magna Opi over the span of a few hours. getting the OP character at the end of the road is fun as your 16 year old shit eating heir has now more learning than 99% percent of the world population, but it's not good gameplay.
maybe you're getting the events that give you rivals and they're the ones trying to kill you? I always just ignore them because it's always some muslim fucker I can't ever interact with anyway and you don't get the shitty events to raid their labs and get imprisoned for life
sounds like you fucking suck 2bh.
>give my 100+ loyalty husband some land
why
>I should be able to nab one province, while they are fighting for their existence, right?
if you can get 100% warscore before they react to you, yeah. apparently you couldn't, so you lost some money and prestige or something. the horror
That's odd, I don't recall ever having had any influx of assassinations after joining the Hermetics. Maybe they revamped it in the recent DLCs
iunno man, i gave up on it months ago.
like i'd just be getting pop ups about looking at stars and buying glassware and suddenly blap oh I died
Ok join society again, build a new lab again, buy new glassware, look at sta- blap I'm dead.
Ok join society AGAIN, build a new lab AGAIN, look at the stars, oh cool we're doing a ritual, oh shit we summoned a demon BLAP fucking dead again.
repeat forever.
I just want to turn lead into gold or something cool and further science and technology for my people instead of doing something faggy like religion or playing with ghosts.
Don't know what else to tell you, make sure your spymaster loves you and keep them set to scheming job. You'll miss out on hella tech points but most of the tech doesn't matter anyway, you'll just get them slightly later.
Don't be too mean to the Jews or the game will punish you for it
>so you lost some money and prestige or something
Honestly the worst thing about losing a war you start in this game is having to sit on your hands for another 5 to 10 years.
>play as Byzantines
>vassals always start factions for the slightest shit and fill them up with people who had positive relations with me
How the fuck is this possible
>expell Jews
>lose 1 Diplomacy for the rest of your life
Biggest ass pull of the day. No one gave a shit if the king of France expelled some jews back in the day
kill all vassals
replace them only with people with the "Content" trait
never have any problems ever again
Just kill everyone and take land
What else do you expect from (((Paradox)))?
its because all the game start kingdoms are messy as fuck, barely any created duchies and the top liege always has a babby demense so all the vassals get huge dicks right away
either do your best to get a bigger demense, appease/arrest or scheme for threaten events with spymaster, or don't play as the top liege at a start date
>randomly lose tech points
>jus' cuz
Getting a little insecure there, Johan.
>having trouble with gavelkind
your main heir keeps all the important titles. if you pick your capital county (and duchy) well, that should already make you powerful enough for smooth successions. you can also "disqualify" your other heirs from inheriting land you care about by giving them land you don't care about, and plot to revoke counties in your capital duchy.
there aren't enough events or meaningful RP content in this game. it gets stale pretty quickly after the 2nd generation............. oh great, a dog. wow. let's name his tricky?............... cool, there's a feast and someone spilled wine haha........ uh-oh a boar broke into the hoggery and i gotta pay 3 shekels :x........ oh wow we're going on an expedition!!! hehe looks like one of the priests got into an argument lol! oopsie
>Can play as shekel republic but not as normal republic
It's funny how often there is a Jewish scholar than comes up out of nowhere to your court in CK2 and, while the flavor text sucks his dick everytime, he ends up having supbar characteristics most of the time.
>oh no! looks like there is an epidemic for the 15th time this decade, we have to close the gates
>better eat some rats
forgot to mention, warscore is capped at 99% unless you win a major battle or the war has been going on for 3 years. you can still win holy wars against massively stronger opponents though because the AI surrenders way before you 100% them in holy wars for some reason
>better eat some courtiers
fixed
don't be an ass, they're always set to have a super high stat depending on the event, which is why they were brought to your court in the first place
The best part is that you can't even say "no no thank you :)". He's just in yor court now and you have to manually find the fucker to ask random courtier to leave now, because you don't want a heathen foreigner with 19 intrigue just hanging around your house.
Or just wing it and imprison then execute the other pretenders once your character reaches an old age. The tyranny malus makes people plot your demise and you come out of this with a young heir taking on the succession at your leisure. It's a win win, really.
that part is annoying for sure, either give an option to decline or give them that +50 loyal thing the promising commander event gives
They're no better than the first 13 management schmuck I can find lollygagging around in the next county. There is no point to that event.
you'd think they'd come up with a way to lock up the food supply after all this time.
>He hasn't reformed religion to get completely accepted sibling marriages.
Are you even trying?
They must've nerfed it or something, because they mostly float around 14 now. If they're 20+ and not in intrigue, then I'll keep them, because I tend to play as obscure religions/cultures with not a lot of options for mail order medieval secretaries/human resources.
Paradox is a shit company. CK 2 is a great game however it is locked away behind some atrocious DLC shit, and Paradox puts shit in that is truly awful (like True Believer shit)
That said it is a great game and maybe only comparable to Mount and Blade in that it combines RPG mechanics with kingdom management mechanics, although they do it in two completely separate ways.
DLC recommendations from me would be Legacy of Rome since retinues are vital. Sword of Islam is you want to play as Muslim scum, but I wouldn't since Sand people are evil and also the worst religion in the game. Old God's is a pretty damn good DLC. Rajas of India is ok if only for the fact that playing in India isn't bad but it's like a totally different experience. Ruler Designer can be fun. Holy Fury is the first really good DLC they've released in forever.
The rest of the DLC is pretty forgettable. Way of Life is legitimately terrible and fucking Reddit tier.
nice blog post faggot
>paying for paradox DLC
what are you doing bro
It is the only Paradox game that I regularly come back to, really. It's like they had a stroke of genius and realized that map painting on its own can be pretty boring and doesn't make for a good game.
Also,
>buying DLC
>being an absolute poorfag
Lmao it's on sale right now you fucking leech
My DLC recommendation is piracy. And if you want to be extra careful, then make a separate Steam account to add the downloaded DLCs to. But yeah, the whole councilor power shit was the worst thing they ever added. It seems like an interesting bit of padding to the council mechanics until you realize how poor executed it was and how fucking atrociously tedious it is to deal with them. It's more like a slow race to turn all of their powers off. It's probably faster to convert to Shia, then flip back with all of their laws abolished.
90s graphics
What was the last DLC?
I got CK2 for free when paradox were giving it out and haven't bought a single DLC
Does this frustrate you?
Holy Fury
last update was some uncharacteristic two patches in a row of free features, including a new start date
Playing as counts and working your way up is the most fun
Yeah it's horse shit. Jews are evil and there is a reason they've been kicked out of so many countries
Gavelkind is legitimately fucking awful. Unless you have access to Tanistry or something that restricts shit to in your dynasty but let's you choose, Primo and Ultimo are the best.
The role play elements should mostly come from your interaction with your family, vassals, and other Lord's of foreign national. I once murdered three sons of the head of the Muslims and he called for jihad's on me every chance he could the rest of his life.
Reaper's Due is forgettable
This change isn't so bad since I the early days if the AI had a Doom stack they would just siege your territories lightning fast and win wars without a battle ever happening.
Jew characters are coddled in the game. They should legitimately be removed from the entire game
>Way of Life is legitimately terrible and fucking Reddit tier.
Why tho?
It adds flavour and is almost mandatory for good/interesting characters.
You can get extra health, become a better duellist, become a drunkard, seduce and impregnate half the court, etc.
Old Gods and Holy Fury go hand in hand. Is a bit stupid to get one without the other. Specially when old gods is dirt cheap in key resellers sites.
Rome one is necessary.
Charlemage and Conclave are whatever tier. They change the game a bit, things get a bit more complicated. Overall, fairly nice, but not mandatory.
Reapers due, Sons of Abraham and Monks and Mystics are pure flavour tier. They add a lot to the game, but they can get repetitive and annoying.
I wouldn't play without them anymore tho. Except sons of Abraham, I don't even remember what it adds.
Republic, Horse Lords, Jade Dragon, Islam and India depend of the player. They are new forms of governments/cultures. If you are interested in them, get them. Jade Dragon adds more shit, but it mainly affects Asia, so if you like playing in Europe, you'll probably don't give a shit.
As an aside, the last DLC's also come with portraits and unit models and stuff, so that's a little bonus. Without the portraits, the people looks ugly as fucking shit.
A shit game that used to be a decent grand strategy, but was slowly turned into a pseudo-RPG with meme events. Also extremely easy once you understand the mechanics.
dlc BS
I bought most of the shit when it was on sale for cheaper. But yeah I support piracy of Paradox, I just get nervous about fucking up my computer with viruses.
To be clear I recommend pirating everything from Paradox, not just CK2. Those recommendations are gameplay based recommendations. Like you could give me some of the DLC like Way of Life and Reaper's Due and I would never play with them.
Forgot to say I'd recommend Charlemagne only for the earliest start date. Conclave sucks. Most of the shit in Way of Life is overpowered and very game-y and not really role play oriented in my opinion. I don't find the game hard so I'd rather just avoid a DLC that I feel is mostly bullshit
user, there is no way to get a virus if you just grab the most popular torrent on PB (also make sure it has a skull next to the name)
I realize that but I just bought a nice laptop after being mostly without a computer for a few months. My Boomer ass isn't risking it when CK2 is one of the few games released in the last decade that I even play on PC that aren't free.
>Conclave sucks
Yeah, it kind of does. Specially the part about educating kids. In the base game, the kids get the traits and education of whoever is the guardian. With Conclave, is fairly rng heavy. You can change some things, but it tends to have negative effects. Still, I like the council and the powerful vassals side of the dlc. Forces you to balance the council, instead of just recruiting every +20 guy you see.
> Most of the shit in Way of Life is overpowered and very game-y and not really role play oriented in my opinion
Nah, is not. Mainly cause everyone uses it, not just the player. A duke of your kingdom might seduce your wife. Your stupid yet strong song may get the duelist focus and maim this genius 3 older brothers.
Is a good addition. The only gamey part of it is if you decide to drop everything to go after the health bonuses.
Otherwise, it adds a ton of stuff and more than a dozen of traits that actually influence other dlc's (if you are a gardener, you survive longer in seclusion since you can eat from the garden).
Shit game. Shouldve gotten EUIV
HIP or CK2+?
>should've gotten the blob simulator
“Gullible sap” isn’t that great of an insult.
I just disagree on Way of Life. And I think it's gamey whether I'm doing it or the AI is. Whatever small nice touches are added are strongly outweighed by the bullshit like seduction, dueling, etc.
HIP has better map.
EU4 is trash. All modern Parajew games are trash, you're better off playing EU3, Vicky 2, etc. CK2 was the last good game they made and they are trying their best to ruin it.
you were saying?
you don't even need to use tpb for ck2, there's places that collect all the dlc and since paradox are retarded you can even use pirated dlc for multiplayer with a legit copy of the game
i kinda prefer that though with Conclave/kids.
reality is that kids arent 1:1 clones of their parents in real life and random events shape how a child develops.
it also makes for some fun greentext and roleplay.
they both cause the game to crash and corrupt savefiles something chronic, so neither
Trust me I realize this. But I just don't pirate enough stuff to risk it. After I downloaded all the time for pretty much everything pre-PS1, I haven't had much need to Pirate since most modern games are either trash, from companies I want to support, or shit im getting on console to play with my Boomer friends
I'm the guy he was replying to. My issue with Conclave is more council based.
>i kinda prefer that though with Conclave/kids.
>reality is that kids arent 1:1 clones of their parents in real life and random events shape how a child develops
I think vanilla had more events for kids. Conclave has the same ones for pretty much every kid and trait. And that gets repetitive really fast. Specially if you assign a court tutor, cause then eeeevery single kid in your court has you as their guardian. You are literally the head of a daycare
> Force kid to be more ambitious, he becomes your rival
> Force kid to become diligent, you get stressed
> Force kid to be patient, you run out of patience, -2 to every stat for 5 years
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck off and fuck your kids.
What's with the council?
You don't like the powerful vassals asking for a seat? I love it, it makes sense.
If a duke controls half of your kingdom, of course he's going to want a seat on the council, even if he's a retard with no skills. He doesn't need skills, he has soldiers.
Oh I get it. You're a Reddit fag. I've been playing the game since launch and the council in general is retarded. A Duke who owned half your kingdom shouldn't be your Duke for too long.
not him, but that's entirely up to you whether or not he stays as your Duke. I'll give you that, though, having to wait 10 years before enacting a consequent reform of the council is just plain fucking retarded.
Favourite starts?
My best game so far has been an Iron man Karen Zoroastrian revival and Persian Empire formation run. Mostly everything thing went right, although at times two fronts opened up with the Abbys and Byz which was a little terrifying.
I love starting in Italy as a count. Scandinavia is also pretty cool. Never started in Western Europe, too bland.
You only need the dlc that lets you expel the Jews for the authentic Yea Forums experience.
Sicily owns. Big dick duchy and a direct passage to North Africa.
> Everyone that disagrees with me is a reddit fag
Nigger opinion
> A Duke who owned half your kingdom shouldn't be your Duke for too long
Geez, user, for some who hates things being game-y, you sure play in the most arbitrary and gamey way possible.
Sometimes vassals get strong naturally, dukes marry dukes and you end up getting a pretty powerful guy. Sometimes is even necessary , cause the council dlc can reduce the amount of vassals you can control, so if you have a big kingdom of empire, you need some guys to control big chunks of land in your name.
Personally, I like that, I like challenge, I like powerful vassals, I like factions being a real threat.
You only have to wait 3 years to change laws. A decade or so is for some big reforms, but that's all you need anyway, since it takes decades to unlock new shit with Legalism.
Italy is fun, lots of cultures and places to expand to. Go fight the muslims, go fight the byzantines, go fight the germans, the french, the slavs.
Right now, I started in Italy, but eventually managed to inherit Croatia and Hungary should be mine soon. I'm thinking about forming my own empire in the area, keeping both HRE and ERE at bay.
Also, the Pope is fucking pain in the ass if you start in Italy and want to expand.
This
Every recent dlc Paradox brought out consists mostly of UI buttons that buff your character, instead of adding interesting new content. As if the game wasn't easy enough already
They're just pandering to a specific type of player now
>Buy the game
>Pirate all the dlc
>Load up the game and get a headache from trying to read that fucking tiny font
Is the Geheimnisnahcht mod still updated?
