I like it much more than the original, I rotate between it Rising Storm 2 and Escape From Tarkov for my FPS fix currently.

It's way fucking worse than the original, unoptimized as fuck, movement is sluggish and way too organic compared to the precision of the first game, shitty map design.

REALLY nice weapon animations but that's about it.

It's kinda better. It certainly looks great, but it doesn't feel like Insurgency at all really.

Tempted to buy it in the sale myself. Free weekend was good but I fear it will die pretty quickly. All the additions just seem unnecessary at best and just straight up missing the point of why people played insurgency.

Also the co-op vs AI mode is fucking stupid. The AI either magdumps into a wall or one shots you from across the map regardless of your armor or how you're moving.

Actually, they seem to be MORE accurate if you're sprinting. It's ridiculous, one of the most absurdly varying and frustrating AI in a game like this I've ever seen. Oh also the female death sounds are incredibly annoying. Like, man are they annoying, last way too long and are too loud.

Its very cpu dependant. Ive a 1070ti bit can only get to 60 on minimum.

SQUAD is a far better shooter, with a much more invlolved community and is releasing from early access in a couple of months. Its on a bigger discount and has more players despite insurgencies free weekend

Are the premium weapons actually worth the supply? I don't feel like I do any better choosing the VHS-1 over the M16A4 or the QBZ-03 over the AKM.

I got a rx580 and ryzen 5 2600 and I maintain frames above 60 on high on most things except for shadows and post processing. But I've read people with better rigs than mine having intense stutters and frame drops.

VHS is literal dogshit, it's just a worse M4A1 and I can't see any reason as to why you would ever want to use it. The advantage of picking anything other than the M16A4 is automatic fire, so I would recommend going with at least the G36 unless you plan on exclusively going long range shooting, in which case it's better to just use the G3 for its higher damage. For Insurgents, the AKM is actually really good. I pretty much exclusively use it or the FAL.

The QBZ and the VHS are really good IMO, high as fuck rate of fire is always great.

I don't like that being low on stamina makes you sway more. It just doesn't work when you spawn 100+ meters away from your objective.

I use all the guns including the FAL/G3, the recoil of the VHS has never really bothered me. I like the MP7 the best.

Squad can actually be really good if you can find a server that's not full of tacticool retards. The best matches that I've had are when it's like 3 am EST and all the SLs are halfway through a handle.

The MP7 is so damn expensive to run properly though. You need to pour almost your entire supply into it.

My standard observer loadout is M4 or AKM with heavy carrier, smoke launcher, and three smoke grenades so that I can cover the entire advance onto each point by myself since nobody else will fucking bring them.

I usually end up pouring everything into my primary anyway, gotta pimp that thing out.

I actually haven't used it very recently, I've been playing with the new guns mostly. I haven't heard anything about nerfing it, and it was great when I used it a few weeks ago.

Bipods in Sandstorm are absurdly inconsistent and don't allow you to move side-to-side or even crouch without undeploying them.
Also, MGs have a firing delay that makes them borderline unusable because every rifle in the game in the game kills in 2 hits tops regardless of armor so reactions are everything.

As soon as it arrives I'm making a Model 10 only preset.

Adding on to this, do I have autism because I refuse to use the flash hiders and extended magazines? They both look rushed and really fucking bad. Not to mention that they hold 35 rounds for some reason. They could have just given the AK rifles 40 round RPK mags (which is a common thing that ISIS and other groups do) and there are also 40 round pmags that they could have used for the AR pattern rifles, but instead they just stretched the standard magazines to be longer then gave them 35 rounds.

It takes all the bad features of PR and none of the good, because the devs are snobby cunts who are above doing anything sensible if someone else made it first.

But they do if you deploy them manually.

I use the flash hiders because they're actually helpful for me. I bet they'll be doubly so when night maps come around.

I think they put a firing delay in there because the PKM was the superior assault rifle in beta. It makes textbook machine gun positions impossible though, because you can barely start shooting before the enemy has cleared your narrow arc.

I find myself switching between the original and the sequel. Both are pretty good imo. I like the better visuals of the new one but the original one has a good feeling, I really can't describe it. I wish they would port the maps from the orignal to the sequel, but not the shitmaps like panj or sinjar, the good maps like tell, embassy, market, uprising, siege and heights.

It is not hit scan, retard. It's a hybrid system where it uses hitscan only for very close range combat, but if hitscan laser calculates that distance is too high it sends an actual bullet. There is proper a bullet drop and delay. Original insurgency is pure hitscan afaik.

It runs worse than the original and the controls aren't quite as precise.

However its design is far superior and it has the best weapon mechanics and audio of any contemporary FPS.

It definitely leans more heavily towards the tactical/sim side of FPS than its predecessor did which I think is a bit jarring for the ADD spastics coming off the last one since they're going to die a lot more often playing to the meta of source, smart plays and positioning are rewarded much more than raw aggression in Sandstorm.

It's two rays. There's a straight ray from muzzle. Then there's the path ray from muzzle that uses drop and deltatime. Then it checks for hits using within a buffer of time depending on ping and whatnot.

I actually run light all the time now.

I know it makes zero difference to survivability against bullets but I find with the reduced move speed that I don't run too far into danger as often.

RPK in source was amazing. Wallbanging for days with AP rounds, all the suppressing fire and angle holding you needed while still being usable on the move.

Battlefield 2 with PR is the only okayish game that's close to milsims. Modern battlefield is a casual console trash for underage retards you know it.

In theory you can shoot people through walls with them, but most of the time you can do that with the other sniper rifles anyways.

Even with AP rounds heavy armor usually bought you an extra bodyshot or two before you died, and it also actually did a pretty good job of saving you from explosions if you were on the edge of the radius.
And maybe it's just me speaking from personal experience, but I didn't use AP nearly as much when on Security. It was really good and basically mandatory on Insurgent because Security got free armor, though.

Those two battle rifles are extremely overpowered once you learn to control them. 2x sight and a foregrip is all you need, can easily countersnipe and clear almost any map with ease, instakilling people from across the map with the ridiculous amount of damage they do.

Did you use one of those old performance configuration files? The devs changed a lot of variables including how the entire LOD system works and they can genuinely break the game if used now.

Browse to C:\users\yourusername\appdata\insurgency and delete everything, the game will generate a new profile for you and you'll need to redo your key bindings.

I like to retard spray with the g3 and fal. I don't have a good 'rapid fire' triggerfinger in close quarters and just hold it down. Since I always have a carrier or heavy carrier it doesn't matter that I burn through mags quickly desu.

going from rising storm 2 to the sandstorm free weekend was extremely jarring. The ability to freely use the bipod at any time or not regardless of it being lowered or not was nice, but shit like your ADS being disturbed moving anywhere while prone was annoying when RS2 had a nice prone system where you could always be prepared. Not to mention i like the unique bipod prone moving animations.

I digress though, i was unable to be sucked in by Sandstorm the way i was with the 2014 one, because i couldn't help but feel i spent several minutes a match waiting for a ETA on wave reinforcement, and another 30 seconds for the wave to come

This is true for room clearing CBQ, in any other instance you're better off with single fire since the first shot recoil has much less horizontal deviation than full auto spray and your reticle automatically resets to the starting position between shots.

It's just so much easier to control.
