I like him, he's one of my favorite FF protags.

It's not. It's tedious as hell, if you are trying to get the maximum benefit from stealing as well as get AP for each character every battle.

It doesn't really help that the game is piss easy. That just makes the grind feel even worse.

Tide-us is wrong because it's not an english I, and the syllable split is between the I and the D.
It's Ti-Dus, just like how it's spelled.

You have to grind, if you want your characters to have all their spells.
That's the Catch-22 of FFX. You don't need to grind to complete the game, but you need to grind to be satisfied with your builds.

Serious question: Could FFX ultra grindy combat and XP system work with modern audience? I tried to play Fallout 2, which I did in the past, but a game like that is too slow for me and I dont have patience. I expect similiar from a remake of FFX.

you are me, ive tried like 4 or 5 times and i just cant do it. i'd rather just play 10

yeah i guess, but there are tons of games where you have to grind if you want to break them by making skill points non-scarce

My personal gripe with it is the fact that only some of the pattens are 0.0 sec able. It makes it needlessly about hoping to get the right patterns enough, to learn it how to beat it.
But the important trick is to use the d-pad instead of the stick. Makes it a lot easier to steer.

As someone who likes X-2 I can understand why. It's very different in tone from the original, and the story is so fucking goofy at times.
But fuck me if the combat isn't some of the best the series has ever produced, and there's a metric fuckton of things to do in it.

to beat the main game you dont NEED to grind in FFX. not for XP and not for gear. you are plenty leveled by random battles and bosses. gear has no stats on them so you can use w/e and be fine. sure having proper effects are nice but it is not needed.
you only need to grind for post game things, but when you do have to grind. wew the grind is real.

I'm still traumatised from the time I randomly tried to go home to Besaid.

I'm not sure if it's because of the english dub (that also made Yuna sound like a whiny complainer instead of a determined person) but he has actually a great arc. He starts out as a "Sportsball dudebro", totally full of himself, feels neglected by his father but tells himself he doesn't need anybody else to cope, actually resents him.
Gets Isekai'd, meets new people, learns their world, for the first time has actual friends, and grows from a narcissistic dudebro into an actual friend, into romance, into self sacrifice, learning along the way the truth about his father, and that he DOES actually crave the acceptance and love of his dad, and that he does need other people and other people need him.
It's pretty fucking great actually. But for some reason all people remember is that he's a dick, that his face looks fucked up in a couple cutscenes, and that there's a scene where the VAs do a horrible fake laugh.
Despite the fact that the point of the scene is them saying: "Ey, if all is shit and you have nothing to smile about, just fake laugh your ass off and then laugh at that"

Literally turned the pure priestess girl that was willing to sacrifice her own life for the good of mankind into some sort of J-pop Idol. And don't get me wrong, I like Idols, But Yuna does not belong in bootyshorts WHILE DUAL WIELDING GUNS. The fuck is wrong with them?
