Dawn of war 1, then Winter assault, then Dark Crusade and finally Soulstorm. Also Dawn of War 2 does have a decent campaign, but the skirmishes are shit due to no base building and the fact the game scaled down in fighting. Okay that was even worse than I remembered. An IRL friend recommended me this ilm and I was so deeply unimpressed, the way it handles a Daemon Prince later on (or was it earlier? I forget) was embarassing. Lots of weird scenes that seem to exist purely to show marines inflicting gruesome violence when that goes against their methods of warfare and makes no sense when fighting Chaos. None of the Ultramarines sound like Ultramarines, who are the most sane and reasonable, not-constantly-grimdark parts of the setting. 2/10

Nurgle's good, Slaanesh is accurate but weak compared to the others. Khorne is pretty off, I like it but it's not Khorne in any specific sense. Tzeentch is a diverse god and this captures may 1/9th of his essence. The other 8 are screaming, burning, flailing, growing, shimmering, ticking, undulating and howling with laughter at the incompleteness of it all.

They can't eat daemons though. Daemons are energy beings molded and influenced by sapient thoughts. I remember reading about a battle between Daemons of Chaos and Tyranids and they just bounced off each other. Daemons couldn't sustain themselves on Tyranids since they don't have souls and Tyranids could sustain themselves on Daemons since they have no biomass.

I've only read the first book but there was hardly any daddy issues in it. Talos is the only character in the book who really cares about Curze and he's just a bit bummed out he died. Everyone else has their own agenda but mostly it's about how to rape and pillage.

And between the numerous chapters, there is actually more variety of Space Marines than Ork clans. Between the first founding and their known successors the variety is pretty large. Not all of them act or even play the same.
Finally, SM are generally on call to fight the biggest enemies. Every big conflict will have them. That is their in canon job.
Which is not to say that its a perfect state of affair, but it is hypocrisy to complain about them while liking some of them.

From an outsider point of view, AdMech and Dark Mechanicus look interchangeable.

Killing the Nids and Orks is necessary, they can only feed and fight. Once upon a time the Old Ones ruled the galaxy and they were all psykers. The Eldars ruled later and they were also psykers. Unifying mankind into one psychic powerhouse is the logical path. With or without faith. Faith just makes it easier.
Obviously its a dangerous path filled with dangers and existential failings. But it is what is called for to deal with Chaos. Nothing complex about it all.
On the other hand this pretty much leads to Age of Sigmar.
