Boomer here. Digital distribution has really flipped things around. It used to be having titty games on your platform was a black mark and we mocked systems like the Saturn and PSVita that had a high volume of softcore anime games because it meant that they were failures that had to pander to Otaku. That's why I never really thought Sony trying to push those games away was SJW agenda. It's just historically been a sign of a bad console. But then Nintendo took such a beating because they wouldn't even let innocuous games like Binding of Isaac on their hardware that they've completely flipped to being historically the most aggressive about dictating third-party content to the most open. Part of me wants to think it's a bit of desperation on Nintendo's part.
