Probably not Solaire (other than an alternate costume) but if Banjo-Kazooie can get in, why not? Souls, so far as representation, has a lot of potential as to such things like move-set, alternate costumes and stage design - though we all know Down+B will just be another counter, because of course it will be - but above all else...personally...I just want to see a character like Kirby or Isabelle in the Souls world/aesthetic. And I'm not even that big a fan of Dark Souls to begin with.

On top of that, they'd probably want to include at least 1 female in this fighter pack which further strengthens a case for KOS-MOS. Regardless, despite the releases, Nintendo has done a great job with its unpredictability.

I think that you're just looking at it wrong. The entire smash roster is Japanese except for the Rare characters and it looks like they plan to keep it that way which I think is a great decision. They are probably appealing broadly in the sense of what did well for the most number of people. P5 did pretty good globally compared to other Personas and always has done well in Japan. DQ, while unknown in the West is huge in Japan for whatever reason. Banjo was wildly popular in America and Xenogears was one of baby boomer's first JRPGs. The fact that they're JRPGs is just Japan's inability to make a good game that isn't a JRPG. If you own a vita, you'd know how over saturated Jap games are with that genre.

Xenosaga is technically dead, but it isn't neglected by any means; Bamco wants to revive it and Monolith Soft want to continue it. KOS-MOS still appears in a lot of games from this decade and while technically a different IP than Xenoblade, Nintendo, Bamco and Monolith still lump them together. She's the official mascot of Monolith Soft and the spiritual face of Xeno-.

Also Katsuhiro Harada from Bamco is admittedly fan of Xenosaga and one of the reasons KOS-MOS hasn't died. He's said this year in an interview that despite KOS-MOS not having a main game, she still ranks both in Japan and even in the West as one of the most popular Bandai Namco characters and they admittedly get requests all the time asking about Xenosaga, KOS-MOS and even Smash.
